This year there will be not only journalists, physicists, architects and geographers, but also teachers.
All because we are opening an organizational and pedagogical workshop.
Yury Romanov, the co-director of the LS and the head of the workshop, talks about what experience the workshop participants will get, how it will become the heart and mind of the Summer School, and why it is so important and interesting to be the head teacher.

In the twentieth century, a diploma of higher education gave a start in life. Today it no longer guarantees anything. We live in a dynamically changing network society, and we need a different education. One that is not about traditional knowledge-skills-skills, but about something else, no one yet fully understands what. There are many answers to this question, and their number and quality is growing as more and more signs appear that traditional education in the post-industrial world “does not work.”
About the organizational direction
One of the main content lines in the program of the organizational direction is to understand what are the explanatory models of what is happening with education. And also – what are its alternative options today. Perhaps the reason for the growing popularity of LS is that the summer school model is more in demand in the new society than traditional institutions and schools?
To be a member of the organizational direction means to work hard for LS.
Thanks to the invested forces, you understand that LSH is done by you and you get a return in the form of that same network capital. Being a head teacher means communicating with the best teachers and guests of the school, many of whom have reached the top in their professions. When meeting a scientist/journalist/teacher, helping him navigate the School, arranging a lecture, you can have time to tell him the idea of your project or just get to know each other.
Members of the organizational area will be the most important people at the Summer School. It is we who will form the educational and household schedule, we will come up with school-wide evenings and meet the most important and famous guests. But our main mission is to try to explain to the Summer School and the entire Russian educational community why the non-profit LS project, which seems to be dominated by chaos and anarchy, is developing and becoming more and more relevant.
About the pedagogical direction
Many schools now have a sad anecdote: “We pretend to teach, they pretend to study.
” Teaching is built according to the old patterns, but society has changed and the old patterns do not work. The pedagogical direction is intended for the person who came to school. Did a lesson. Second. Third. Tenth. I tried to reproduce the model of those lessons that I experienced as a schoolboy, which then seemed wonderful. Faced with the fact that this scheme does not work or works only partially. I didn’t put up with it, I began to look for what could be done so as not to imitate work, but to do really useful things. We are waiting for such a person in our workshop.

Andrey Romashkov: Good afternoon! Today we are recording a podcast about another workshop of the Summer School 2018 – the Prism workshop (PR and SMM). With us is Alexander Avanesyan, the director of this workshop.
Alexander Avanesyan: Good afternoon.
A.R.: “Prisma” is one of the new workshops, which is held for the first time as part of the summer school. The story about her will be of interest not only to new members of the school, but also to old-timers. In a nutshell: what is Prism and what will they teach there?
A.A.: Prizma is a PR and SMM workshop. Last year I lectured on SMM at journalism workshops and noticed that this is quite relevant.
This year we decided to create our own workshop, where we will help projects with promotion tools. We will tell you how to move forward, how to make the project known in the media space. The program is big enough.
A.R.: Is it possible to say that someone specific is expected at the workshop? Is there an age limit, requirements for education, for the type of activity? Or just having your own project that you want to promote, but it’s not clear how?
A.A.: Minimum age limit is 18 years. There are no other restrictions, we will select interesting and unusual projects.
A.R.: If you just want to learn how to promote, but you don’t have your own project, will they not take you to the workshop?
AA: Probably not. We expect quite a lot of competition in the workshop and we want to recruit no more than 15-20 people to work closely with everyone on a strategy to promote their project.
A.R.: Is it possible to say that participation in Prism will also help beginners in SMM and PR, or is it more of an introductory course for those who want to understand what it is?

А.: Of course, this course would be useful for beginners: we have a large program. But if such specialists do not have their own projects, then most likely they will not pass the selection. The objectives of the course do not include teaching SMM and PR as a separate activity.
A.R.: In a nutshell, is it promotion in social networks? Let’s say I have a small music band project. What should I do, what advice could be formulated?
А.А.: First, determine the target audience. We will have a separate lecture on determining the target audience and its search in social networks. Next, you need to find ways to inform this audience about the existence of your project. This is the subject of another lecture of the course. In the direction of PR, we have a separate program where they will tell you what you need to do so that SMM is written about your group: how to interact with them and how to get them interested. There will also be a separate lecture on interaction with bloggers.
A.R.: Who runs the workshop? What do you do and what are your fellow coordinators? What experience do the organizers have?
А.А.: We have three organizers. Kira Grechanina is a PR manager for the Odnoklassniki social network, she has extensive experience working as a PR manager in agencies. She oversees the PR direction. I will supervise the “SMM” direction, I have extensive experience working in agencies, on client and my own projects (Telegram channel – “One day SMM-man”, Vkontakte group – “Everyday SMM-man”, we have about 70,000 readers). I will talk about promotion on Vkontakte, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks. Our coordinator, Vlada Sardak, also has extensive experience in SMM, she will help me with lectures.
A.R.: How can you describe in a few words the average day of a Prism workshop participant? Or is there no specific standard schedule?
А.А.: Our day will be divided into two halves: the first will be lectures and practical classes in the direction of “PR”, the second – in “SMM” or vice versa.
