Resolute Administrative Services Acquires Search Partners Recruiting
November 17, 2020 – Acquisitions and consolidations continue to make news in the recruiting industry, with a number of notable purchases in recent months. Recently, Resolute Administrative Services, a Denver-based provider of back-office support, and workforce and consulting services for recruiting firms, recently acquired Search Partners Recruiting, a Dallas-based search firm that specializes in finding internal talent for the recruiting industry.
Search Partners is a boutique executive search firm founded in 1998 and specialized in identifying executive, management, sales and recruiting talent for recruiting, search, solutions and consulting firms nationwide.
Search Partners’ founder and president Amy Krodel will take on the new role at Resolute of president of professional services. She is in charge of sales and the professional services team leadership.
“The entire Resolute team is excited to have Amy and Search Partners join the family as we build and grow as one,” said Scot Goldfarb, president of Resolute. “Partnering with Search Partners was a natural fit for Resolute, given the alignment of our respective service offerings.”

In an effort to fuel growth across the Northeast and Canada, Brentwood, TN-headquartered recruiting firm Vaco has acquired technology-focused recruiting firm Prodigy Bank of Toronto. The acquisition complements Vaco’s recent expansions in Canada, following its Lannick acquisition in 2017 and expansion into Montreal last year. Prodigy Bank, founded in 2016, joins an organization that delivers talent and solutions across diverse industries and to more than 10,000 clients globally. Prodigy Bank specializes in the e-commerce, technology, digital, software product development and financial services sectors, serving more than 100 clients ranging from the largest enterprises in Canada composed of financial institutions, banks and retailers to small to mid-size companies across various industries.
Russell Reynolds Associates has acquired the cultural analytics business of Workplace Analytics, a provider of data-driven insights and analysis about corporate culture. With this addition, the firm expands its culture assessment portfolio to assist CEOs, boards of directors and CHROs in more accurately identifying deep-rooted issues within a company’s culture and creating environments that drive performance, spur innovation and foster collaboration. An unusual LEGO Super Mario set is now on sale: a canary yellow cube with question marks on the sides. At the request of Afisha Daily, the creator of the Land of Lego telegram channel, Alexander Kanygin, is figuring out what’s inside.
The official name of the set “Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block” does not sound particularly romantic and reminds a bit of a construction site.But behind the unremarkable name lies a fascinating story: the set was released to mark the 25th anniversary of the cult game Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64. Unfortunately, in our country this console was a rarity, so the game is not as well known to Russian gamers as the classic 8-bit “Mario” … However, it was Super Mario 64 that turned out to be so popular abroad that in 2007 it entered the Guinness Book of Records as one of the best-selling games in history, and fans are still looking for the Easter eggs hidden in it. And they find it!
The spirit of secrets and mysteries was transferred to the set: the Lego cube can be laid out like a box with a secret.Inside there are three platforms with miniature scenes from a video game. We decided to take a closer look at them and look for references to the Mario universe.
Cube itself
For some reason, it is believed that the main occupation of Mario in games is the destruction of blocks with a question mark with his head. However, he always did it with his fist.
Princess Castle
The most notable cube scene is Princess Peach’s castle.By itself, she has long become a meme. Indeed, in the classic Super Mario Bros. In 1985, at the end of each passed world, Mario is faced with the same problem: he is informed that the princess he is trying to save is in a different castle. But the game Super Mario 64, on the contrary, begins with the very castle where Peach invites us for a get-together with a cake.
Mario Skin
The set contains ten “figures”.The quotation marks are here because these are not usual Lego men, but miniatures made of parts that only remotely resemble the characters of the Mario universe. For example, the main character himself consists of only three elements: the famous red cap, head and blue jumpsuit. It turns out that before us was the body of the unfortunate king.
Ice World
On the ice miniature, you will find two penguins, one larger and one smaller. So it was in the game: in one of the tasks, the cub had to be assigned to the mother who had lost it. And even during the first passage of the Cool level, the Cool Mountain penguin offered to compete and find out who was the first to slide down the ice slide.If you return to the level after a while, you can stumble upon a pretty fat bird. It was much more difficult to compete with her, because she just occupied the whole slide! By the way, it is also included in the set. To see it, you need to open a snowy mountain.
Bowser
Did you know that Bowser, the main villain of the series, has also been a positive character? For example, in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, he joins – grudgingly, let’s face it – with Mario to deal with even greater evil.

Wait, but why isn’t Mario’s nemesis in the set? He’s the one who always steals Princess Peach. This is the main secret. There is an inconspicuous door on the front of the cube. Personal example. I am a classic entrepreneur on the fly. In his youth he studied music, graduated from a theater university and was completely unfit for business. But the family had to be fed. As a result, after a series of events, I transformed from a certified actor into a serial entrepreneur and head of a large educational holding (and, in recent years, also an investor). And there are a lot of similar examples – remember the same Google, which was created by young scientists from Stanford, or Microsoft, built by computer geeks.
By and large, entrepreneurship is the same set of knowledge and skills as any kind of human activity. But in the kit it should go with certain personal qualities and character traits, which can and should be pumped in oneself. Namely:

- Ability to make decisions in conditions of lack of information and, if they turned out to be wrong, not to regret it for a long time.
By themselves, these character traits will also not give an effect without a set of special knowledge about entrepreneurship and management. It turns out that we need such a synthetic mix of personal qualities and professional training. And it is precisely because of the nonlinearity of this combination that the optimal algorithm for training entrepreneurs has not yet been found.
Two extremes
Historically, Russia has developed two polar approaches to training entrepreneurs. The first one emerged 10-12 years ago, when the information business began to flourish in the country.Many people still hear “Business Youth”, whose name has become a household name.
Information businessmen authoritatively and often too harshly “loaded” young people with their ideas about the rules of creating and running a business. In their trainings, they paid a lot of attention to the upbringing of such specific character traits as the ability to pull yourself together, maintain a high degree of motivation and punch walls with their heads. In general, they pumped the notorious dementia and courage.
All of this information businessmen often exaggerated and ecologically broadcasted their recipe for creating an ideal entrepreneur as universal and complete.In parallel, they often instilled in their audience the idea that business is very simple. Cultivate these qualities in yourself and start acting – and tomorrow you will have “cars”, “heifers” and all other attributes of a successful life. Which, of course, is not true.
The problem is that the information businessmen themselves are often far from understanding the real business. Some lie, others are sincerely mistaken about their own account. Their trainings and courses are often clumsy retellings of other people’s ideas and speeches.
Entrepreneurship education from information businessmen was short-lived.Most people quickly sensed the catch and recoiled from them. At the same time, many began to question the very idea of the need for special personal qualities to build a business. The very themes of motivation, goal-setting and education of an entrepreneurial character have become the subject of ridicule and anecdotes.
Against this background, the other extreme began to develop, which we observe now. Much more respectable and delicate organizations – business schools, entrepreneurial communities and even government agencies – have taken up training for entrepreneurs.Most of them have wonderful aspirations. But, as a rule, they focus exclusively on knowledge and emasculate the very essence of educating entrepreneurs.
And they seem to be right. And they teach the right things. But not everything rests only on knowledge.
Such training takes care of the feelings of the student and does not push to leave the notorious comfort zone, which was so zealously done by “Business Youth” and similar organizations. Therefore, as a result, we often get graduates with touching dreams of pink unicorns, but without the willingness to fight to realize them.Some of them have been swapped for ready-made solutions and cash grants. Now they are waiting for help from the state or money from investors, but they are completely unprepared to fight and survive.
Both of these polarizing approaches — character-centered infobusiness and knowledge-centered academic programs — are not sustainable. The truth, as always, is somewhere in between.
How should it be?
The answer is obvious – balance is needed. On the one hand, it is necessary to educate future entrepreneurs with the necessary character traits and push them to constant, active actions – to reconnaissance in force.On the other hand, it is important not to gesture and not promise quick results. And most importantly, you need to feed students with knowledge right along the way. But only when there is a real need for it.
I myself have always been guided by the concept of learning-by-doing. This is such a practical approach to learning, when you not only acquire the necessary knowledge, but also interact with the environment, adapt to it. That is, you first throw yourself into conditions when it is vitally important for you to decide something, and then (or in parallel with this) you learn – you absorb the theory.
Let’s say you want to test a business hypothesis. You carry out office work and give birth to a concept in its first approximation. But it is important not to get stuck in this and not fall into analytics. Business is action! Therefore, you immediately start building a prototype – MVP (minimum viable product), and as soon as possible bring it to market in order to tap your idea about reality. Let’s go to sales – it means that your product is not hypothetically needed, but people really need it. Well, if there is no demand, look for another hypothesis.
This kind of combined business and practice training seems to be the only true one. The main thing to remember is that, as a rule, success does not come quickly. It is very important to prepare for long distances, train your patience and the ability to take a punch. As Churchill said, “Success is a movement from failure to failure with increasing enthusiasm.”
