However, its application has expanded far beyond the sports field, becoming a trendy hair accessory. This lightweight, stretchy material comes in various colors and is gaining immense popularity, especially on social media platforms like TikTok.
Why has pre-wrap hair become such a sensation? Its versatility is the key factor. From creating unique hairstyles to protecting hair during workouts, pre-wrap offers a wide range of uses. It’s comfortable, affordable, and easy to use, making it accessible to people of all ages and hair types.

Pre-wrap’s flexibility makes it an excellent tool for various hair styling techniques. Here are some popular ways to use pre-wrap:
- Creating headbands
- Securing ponytails
- Making braids
- Forming hair bows
- Crafting intricate updos
- Wrapping hair for overnight protection
Is pre-wrap suitable for all hair types? Yes, pre-wrap can be used on various hair textures and lengths. Its gentle nature makes it ideal for those with sensitive scalps or fragile hair.
How to Use Pre-Wrap for Different Hairstyles
Using pre-wrap for hair styling is surprisingly simple. Here’s a step-by-step guide for creating a basic pre-wrap headband:

- Wrap it around your head, starting at the nape of your neck
- Cross the ends at the front of your head

Hair masks: hold with insulation
When talking about the use of hair masks, attention is usually fixed on whether the product should be applied to dry or damp hair, and the mask aging process is described simply as “apply and rinse after X minutes”. Meanwhile, during these X minutes it is quite possible to deepen, accelerate and generally improve the effect of the mask, and in a very simple way – by warming. Why and how does elevated temperature increase the effectiveness of hair masks, and, most importantly, how to achieve the desired temperature?
Warmth can indeed be a significant factor in the effectiveness of a hair mask – but only when it comes to natural product. Synthetic masks with a mass of non-natural components, as a rule, do not depend much on temperature: their action is based on shock chemical processes. Natural hair masks are a completely different matter: the components that make up them work naturally, gently, following simple patterns (absorb, nourish, stimulate, envelop, soften, and so on), and therefore the temperature just matters for them.
A good example is cosmetic oils, especially butters (solid oils) such as shea, cocoa, coconut, mango, etc. For such oils, there is a threshold softening point, approximately corresponding to body temperature, and at a slightly higher temperature (40-45 degrees), these oils become truly liquid, due to which they easily envelop each hair and are perfectly distributed over the scalp. If the temperature is low, barely reaching body temperature or even lower (especially if you apply the mask only to the length / ends of the hair), then the butter in the composition simply will not work at 100, it will not be able to wrap the hairs well, it will remain on them uneven greasy lumps.
But temperature is important not only for oils: many plant extracts and essential oils are activated with moderate heating and become an order of magnitude more active.
Important ! Speaking about the warming of the mask applied to the hair, we mean very moderate and gradual heating in a natural way. It is not necessary to heat up sharply and strongly (for example, with a very hot hairdryer): this can damage the hair, hair follicles, and destroy the effect of the mask. Since we need a temperature increase of only 3-10 degrees relative to body temperature, it is usually enough to ensure the preservation of heat, that is, in other words, to wrap the hair well.
How is it done? Here’s the easiest classic way to warm up: apply a mask to your hair, twist it very gently into a loose braid (just to put it neatly under a towel), put a plastic shower cap on your head. Such caps usually have a moderately tight elastic band around the head – this is just what you need; you can even get a separate cap purely for masks and after each use just rinse it and dry it.
So, the hair is packed under a cap, now they need to be wrapped up, providing them with the necessary warmth. A thick towel wrapped around the head in the form of a not too tight turban is best for this. Some make do in haste with the deep hood of a terry bathrobe thrown over their heads over a plastic cap. By the way, instead of a cap, you can even use ordinary cling film: just wrap it over your hair and secure it carefully so that it does not fidget and tangle your hair.
Should I wear a warm hat or heat a towel over it with a hair dryer? Is just a towel enough to insulate? Enough! When you put on a plastic cap or wrap your head in plastic, you block the heat from your body, and that’s half the battle. The towel completes the “preserving” effect and additionally slightly warms, which together gives the ideal temperature, which is both effective for the components of the mask and very comfortable for you. Therefore, a warm hat, hair dryer and other ways of additional heating are already superfluous.
Hot towel method . There are several tricks to speed up and improve the effect of the mask with just a towel.
Option 1 : you preliminarily warm the towel well on the radiator or in any other way, and then quickly wrap it around your head over polyethylene. With this heating, the towel is moderately hot; it raises the temperature faster and makes the mask work more actively.
Option 2 : You apply the mask to your hair and soak a plump cotton towel in very hot water for a minute. Wring out a towel and wrap it – slightly damp and hot – hair (without an intermediate link as a film and polyethylene). This method is good for quick masks: a hot and damp towel makes the mask melt faster and spread over the hair and scalp, warms up the mask and makes it as active as possible. But – not for long: since the towel is damp, it will soon begin to cool down quickly. Therefore, the trick with a wet hot towel is great for masks that are applied for 5-10 minutes.
Winter hair care. Healthy hair in winter. Hair Care Tips.

Text: Alina Poplavskaya
Winter is the most difficult season of the year to preserve the beauty and health of the face and body skin, nails and hair. The latter are especially affected by sudden changes in temperature, frequent refusal to wear hats, dry indoor air, and other factors.
ParkSeason tells you how to keep your hair beautiful in such a difficult time. For accessibility, we decided to follow the natural path of most Russian girls and women – from procedures in the bathroom to going outside.
Contents:
- Hair wash
- Care products: balms, conditioners, masks, oils

Hair wash
Skin the head suffers especially strongly in winter: if you walk without a hat, the cover turns out to be overdried, and if you constantly wear the same thing without regular washing, it gets dirty faster. This creates a “greenhouse effect” that clogs pores faster and increases the amount of dirt accumulated on the skin. This is especially aggravated when living in a big city with a high level of pollution. If there are no other problems and diseases of the scalp, a shampoo with a high rinse capacity will be a faithful assistant, which will not irritate and cause itching and a feeling of tightness. It is easy to check if the head is washed: the skin should creak slightly. Choose shampoo with or without SLS is a matter of habit and trial and error, but many articles note that the first products do a better job of clearing the scalp.
In order for the hair to lie well and not to be overdried, the shampoo should be shaken in hands until foam is formed and easily massaged into the scalp, and not kneaded in the hands along the entire length. Your hair will have enough of the amount of the product, which will be obtained by simply washing off the shampoo under running water. It is better to choose a cool shower temperature so that the production of sebaceous secretions does not start immediately during washing. A good helper in the bathroom will be Scalp Scrubs: These can be used once a week, left on for a few minutes for extra exfoliation and blood flow to promote hair growth.

Care products: balms, conditioners, masks, oils apply. In winter, hair especially needs additional nutrition and protection, which maintain health and allow you to go to the hairdresser less often. Balms and conditioners are designed to smooth out the texture of the hair when washed and fill it with nutrients. In winter, we advise you to use heavier balms, especially if the hair has already been damaged by the dye. Conditioners tend not to weigh down the hair and keep the volume, which can be useful for those with straight and thick hair.
Masks come in many forms and for different purposes: maintaining hair color, reducing split ends, nourishing and restoring. Such products are usually advised to keep on the hair for at least 10-15 minutes, after squeezing out the water, as it prevents the penetration of useful elements. On the weekends, you can arrange home treatments with prepared or purchased oil masks: coconut and argan oil and other useful natural compounds. It is best to preheat the mask in a water bath and wrap your hair with a towel after applying the product.

The final step before going outside
The ideal option is to give up hair dryer, curling iron and other styling products. Give your hair time to dry on its own. However, most modern women start working in the morning and prefer to wash their hair immediately after waking up, and when every minute counts, it can be difficult to do without a hair dryer. Someone cannot imagine life without it: after all, without additional devices, hair cannot be put into a beautiful and comfortable hairstyle.
In winter, we recommend using the hair dryer on the cool air setting and adjusting the air flow at a distance of 15 centimeters from the head, so that the damage from exposure is minimal. Other appliances are best set to the minimum temperature and used in case of holidays or romantic evenings. Almost all cosmetic stores provide customers with a large selection of thermal protection products that need to be applied to minimally towel-dried hair before the main styling procedure.
It is better to have a separate hair towel: this way the fabric will not collect additional microbes. You need to dry your hair with wringing movements, without rubbing the strands between your hands, artificially cutting them.

Hair in the winter air
The cold season is associated with long walks through snow-covered parks and skating rinks. Yulia Kochanova, general practitioner of the FSCC FMBA of Russia, warns: “Low air temperature can have both beneficial and negative effects on the state of the human body. In winter, the risk of getting frostbite or hypothermia increases.
We should not forget about hair either: after all the procedures done, we must monitor their condition on the street.
