Ukraine joined the FAO Committee on World Food Security

This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development.

For the first time, Ukraine takes part in a CFS meeting in an official state. The corresponding announcement on granting Ukraine membership was announced during the general solemn part of the event.

The meeting will last for four days under the general theme “A new perspective on food security and nutrition.” As part of the event, participants will be presented with the report of a high-level expert group on the creation of a global concept for food security and nutrition until 2030.

“Ukraine operates in the world food market transparently and predictably and can join the formation and storage of world food reserves. It should be noted that Ukraine did not impose restrictions on the export of basic products during the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasizes the need to simplify international trade procedures and prevent the creation of new trade barriers, ”said Deputy Minister Taras Kachka.

In addition, the session will focus on gender equality and the empowerment of women in the context of food security and nutrition, discuss the results of the previous Framework for Action, and present for approval a new CFS multi-year program of action and the CFS Voluntary Recommendations from food systems and nutrition.
