Keeping the same pace throughout the marathon is not an easy task and an indicator of really good preparation for this serious distance. However, this can be achieved even if you are not a professional athlete. In this post, Stride Mag has partnered with Asics* to put together a list of things you need to do to ensure you can keep the same pace throughout the entire 42.2km of the upcoming Moscow Marathon.
A confident, steady pace is a sign of a well-trained runner and a guarantee of success on the race. If you’ve been consistent with your runs, combined cardio and strength training, eat right, and think positively, it’s likely that you’re guaranteed success in the race. However, every preparation has its own nuances, and this guide will help you withstand the serious stress of a marathon, whether you run it next Sunday, September 24 or on other days.
Before the Marathon
There are a few important things to do before the marathon. If, when reading this paragraph, you can mentally tick each of them, you are ready, you can read on. If you haven’t made it through something, but you’re still going to run a marathon this Sunday, you might want to rethink your plans.
Volumes
First of all, it is not recommended to run a marathon while preparing for a marathon – this can lead to fatigue, overtraining and, as a result, injuries even before you get to the starting gate of the race.
