These Championship suits may be returned for EXCHANGE FOR SIZE ONLY. Suits must be returned with the original packaging, tags attached and returned in the condition it was received. Exchanges must be made within 14 days of receipt of order. If we do not have the size you need for the exchange, we will ship it from the manufacturer once it becomes available. Any suit that is not returned in the condition it was sent will be returned to the customer.
Please make sure your skin is completely clean and have not applied any skin care products such as lotion, deodorant, make-up or anything else that may rub off on the suit.
Upon receipt, please examine your suit carefully. Once the suit has been worn in the water, it CANNOT be returned unless there is a manufacturer defect. Any manufacturer defects must be reported within 30 days of receipt of order. Suits will be reviewed by K&B Sportswear to verify if there is a manufacturer defect before any replacement is issued. Continuing our series of backpack comparison tests, we finally got to Nike.
You have already seen the Deuter and Dakine, Adidas and Dakine, Onepolar and Dakine tests on our website. Today we will consider the competition between two American brands. Each of these backpacks had their pros and cons, but the final choice is up to you. We only show you the facts and give you information to make a decision.
For today’s test review, we took 3 Nike backpacks from different price ranges and 3 Dakine backpacks. Today we will try to determine who will win this fight and be awarded the title of the best!
Brands
Nike backpacks
Nike specializes in the production of clothing and footwear for sports, as well as the production of backpacks and bags, usually for sports purposes. The brand itself was originally American, headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, USA. Founded 25 January 1964 Produced in Asia.
Backpacks
Dakine specializes in the production of backpacks, bags and accessories for the city and everyday life, for schoolchildren and students, for office workers and travelers.
Dakine also pays special attention to extreme sports (cycling, skiing, water sports, etc.) and the production of sportswear. In recent years, Dakine has taken a leading position in these areas around the world. The company headquarters is located in the USA. Most of the products are also produced in Asia.
The consumer is already accustomed to the fact that the country of production is good and bad, and what matters is how quality is controlled. The country of origin of our backpacks is China. Let’s compare them.
Price
This time we are dealing with the products of two large companies in which backpacks are one of the main products. For testing, we selected products of a similar price category, dividing them into three groups.
In the 1st price group, a Dakine Ledge 25L backpack worth $55 is included in the comparison. (1449UAH) and a Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L backpack worth $65. (1699 UAH)
In the 2nd price group, the Dakine Explorer 26L backpack worth $65 is included in the comparison.
(1699 UAH) and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L worth $69. (1799 UAH)
In the 3rd price group, a Dakine Duel 26L backpack worth $85 is included in the comparison. (UAH 2199) and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L worth $100. (2629 UAH)
We saw that the products of the world leader in the production of backpacks Dakine, with their high quality and excellent functionality, turned out to be cheaper than the price of a competitor. The conclusion suggests itself that the price of a competitor is too high for its quality and functionality, which we will tell you about below in the article.
Design
Design is of course a matter of individual taste of each person. The task of the manufacturer is to give us options to express our individuality.

In terms of the number of colors, Dakine, as always, bypasses competitors. There are practically no chances to meet your “double” in a big city, with so many color schemes. Therefore, the score “for personalization” rightfully goes to Dakine.
Functionality of outdoor elements
Material
The Dakine backpack uses 600D polyester modification, and specifically, these backpack models are made of a special rubberized fabric that dries quickly, retaining its shape after that, resistant to light, including ultraviolet (fade protection) and heat, does not allow moisture to pass through and is easy in care.
All Nike models, without exception, are made using polyester. The density of the fabric is small, so the tactile fabric feels thinner than that of the Dakine backpack.
Despite the fact that both backpacks are made of polyester, the material structure of the Nike backpacks turned out to be softer and simpler. We have previously seen this material in backpacks from a lower price range.
Of the additional elements, the Nike 2nd group backpack (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L) has a reflector, but in the context of an urban, and not a cycling backpack, this element should be placed on the sides, and not at the back, where its practical necessity is rather debatable.
Soft fabric also had a bad effect on the ability of the backpack to keep its shape – it loses its shape more when worn, which, against the background of its more durable competitor, does not add points for its appearance. Thus, a tactilely pleasant fabric reduces wear resistance and does not contribute in any way to maintaining the shape of the backpack during use.
A more durable traditional material will last longer and add aesthetic value to your look while retaining its shape.
External pockets
It is worth noting that Dakine backpacks of the 2nd (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L) and 3rd (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L) categories have a fleece-based pocket for glasses or a smartphone! The fleece pocket will protect your belongings from damage and scratches. The Nike backpack, unfortunately, did not have such a fleece pocket.
Side pockets
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L)
On the side pockets, the situation is equal for both backpacks. The only difference here is that Nike has a mesh, while Dakine has the 1st pocket with Velcro, and the other with a drawstring for a water bottle.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
On the side pockets, the situation is equal for both backpacks. The only difference here is that Dakine has a mesh, while Nike has an elastic fabric. From my experience, the grid turned out to be more practical – pollution is less visible on it and it is clearly visible what is in the pocket and how much of it.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L)
The Dakine backpack has two side mesh pockets. The Nike backpack has fabric side pockets on both sides. However, they almost do not stretch. If you carry a bottle of water, then it is unlikely that it will fit into pockets and will not be fixed, but it will become easy in mesh pockets and with fixation by the upper elastic band.
Bottom
This element is always exposed to the greatest external passive influence. Each time, the bottom makes contact with all of its weight on the “parking” surface of your backpack. Pay attention to it, as a heavy load and a thin bottom can lead to premature wear of your backpack.
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L)
Both of our backpacks have it. There are no comments. The Dakine backpack uses a compacted double bottom. The Nike backpack has a single one and is much thinner than the competitor.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
The situation is similar. We have no complaints or comments. The only difference is that the Dakine has a rubber lining inside the backpack, while the Nike has an oilcloth rubberized bottom that doesn’t feel secure. According to tactile sensations, the density of the bottom of the Dakine backpack is noticeably higher than that of a competitor.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L)
Both backpacks use a padded double bottom. This has already become a good indicator for urban backpacks and is used quite often. But the density of the bottom of the Dakine backpack was again noticeably higher than that of the competitor. The only difference is that Dakine has the rubber lining on the inside while Nike has the outside. The solution is practical, but not unambiguous, as it seemed to us, the tarpaulin-like material does not greatly enhance the appearance. As for its price category, a piece of rubber at the bottom of a Nike backpack does not affect it in the best way, it somewhat reduces the cost of perception.
Belts
The adjustable chest strap is very useful for bad weather, cold seasons and slippery clothing materials. It will come in handy so that you can move around with a backpack without using your hands to support the straps and at the same time keep them in a comfortable position for you without changing your posture.
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L)
In our case, the chest screed was found in both one and the second brand. But the quality of the fittings they have is slightly different. Dakine uses a branded metal rod mount – this allows you to simplify the design and make it less massive. The Nike backpack has a hook-shaped chest fastener. In our opinion, in terms of ergonomics, it loses a little to the latch from Dakine.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
When comparing the second pair of backpacks, only the Dakine backpack had a chest strap. The Nike backpack did not have it.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L)
In this price category, the chest strap turned out to be in one and the second backpack. They differed only in the way of fastening. Design and execution can be seen in the photo.
Back
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L)
Dakiné has a classic padded back. The Nike backpack has a back made of mesh porous fabric. The back of the compacted material surpasses the porous fabric in terms of wear resistance, with prolonged wear, only minor abrasions are possible at the bottom of the backpack in the most contact places, and then if there is a heavy load, the mesh will begin to noticeably “wipe” at the contact points under the same load.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
Dakiné, as in the first version, has a classic back made of compacted material. The Nike Backpack has a ribbed fabric back.
The back of the compacted material is superior to the corrugated in terms of wear resistance, the porous fabric provides slightly better ventilation. Therefore, we can recommend it for mainly summer operation “on a T-shirt”. We gave our preference to the Dakine backpack.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L)
Both packs have good padded backs, the only difference being Nike has a padded mesh back while Dakine has a double padded back. The back design that Nike uses has one flaw that we’ve seen on our customers’ old backpacks. Over time, the mesh back begins to wear out, and the filler of the internal ribs breaks. At the back of the Dakine, with prolonged wear, we observed only minor abrasions in the most contact places, and then in the presence of a heavy load.
Webbing
Backpacks of the first category have the same situation with the straps – the straps are located separately and between them there is a thin carrying handle.
In the second and third groups, the design of Dakine backpacks is made in the traditional style for the company – in the form of a “t-shirt” (double straps at the base of the attachment), structurally this allows you to distribute the load over the entire seam, which makes it possible to carry heavy things without the risk of damaging the straps . That is why there is a carrying handle between them. Nike backpacks of groups 2 and 3 use a simple strap fastening – they are located separately and between them there is a thin carrying handle, which functionally loses to a competitor.
It is also worth noting that Nike backpacks use a thin weave mesh, which in operation will lead to its faster wear.
Functionality of internal compartments
The volumes of backpacks are approximately the same for all 6 test participants and amount to 25 – 26 liters. This volume is quite enough not only for walking around the city with a laptop, a sports uniform with shoes, brakes and a bunch of little things in organizer pockets, but also you can freely go on a weekend out of town.
Main compartment
All of our members have large roomy compartments. Note the Dakine’s use of a denser fabric separating the compartments.
The Nike backpack in the 1st group has an inner mesh small pocket for carrying something. It seemed to us that the ergonomics of the compartment suffered greatly here. For normal operation of pockets, stuffing the compartment with things will not work very well. Its volume ate a mesh pocket and a laptop, i.e. all there is enough room for is probably a compact windbreaker and a couple of folders.
Organizer pocket
It will be the most popular pocket in your backpack. Here you will need to store all the little things, and, as a rule, quite fragile and valuable. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay special attention to it. Everything should be comfortable and safe here. High-quality even seams, fleece protected pockets for glasses and your gadgets, isolated compartments with locks.
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.0 25L)
The organizer pocket turned out to be only in a Nike backpack. But Dakine does not have this pocket, and instead has a front zipped pocket without any compartments or compartments. But it is worth noting that the Nike backpack had lining materials made of a thin and simple material, which spoiled the overall impression.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
Both backpacks in terms of functionality here looked almost the same. Only the thickness of the lining on the Nike backpack raised questions. It is thinner than the Dakine backpack. One of the differences that we noticed at the level of a rather “branded construct” is that the Dakine has insulated pockets made from edge to edge, which makes them more capacious than the competitor, where this is concealed by indents along the edges of the internal compartment.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.
0 25L)
Dakine in terms of functionality looks very decent here. The use of fleece in the compartments, the presence of a secret pocket with a zipper for valuables. Nike again unpleasantly surprised the organizer with the decision. It is located in the main compartment of the backpack, and not in a separate pocket like most models, as a result of which the ergonomics of the main compartment suffers, due to the large number of pockets in it. The organizer pocket itself, due to the quality of workmanship, raised questions for our price category.
Compartment for laptop
In the modern world, a classic urban backpack is hard to imagine without a laptop compartment. You will probably have to periodically carry your most valuable piece of equipment in this pocket – this is your laptop with all the data and information available in it. We consider this a worthy reason to carefully check this compartment.
1st group (Dakine Ledge 25L and Nike Hayward Futura 2.
0 25L)
According to the manufacturer, models with a diagonal of up to 15.6 inches will fit in the compartment of the Dakine backpack, for Nike the diagonal will be up to 15 inches. In reality, depending on the manufacturer of the laptop, a Dakine backpack can fit even a small 17-ku. Therefore, when choosing a backpack, we recommend that you bring a laptop.
The Dakine laptop compartment has an open compartment inside the main compartment, with anti-shock inserts on three sides, for the most secure carrying and protection from damage. Nike has a thin pocket, and there are no shockproof inserts – in the event of a backpack falling, the gadget is at great risk of getting damaged.
2nd group (Dakine Explorer 26L and Nike ALPH ADPT REV BR 25L)
The principle is the same as the previous Dakine backpack: an open compartment inside the main compartment, with shockproof inserts on three sides. Nike has a simple pocket, there are shockproof inserts, but their rigidity seemed insufficient to us.
The conclusion, as in the first category, is that the laptop may not survive the fall.
3rd group (Dakine Duel 26L and Nike Cheyenne 3.0 25L)
Dakine implemented the compartment in a very interesting way: for the laptop there is a separate padded compartment that opens from the back with side access and shockproof inserts on all sides.
Nike also has a separate soft compartment on the back, but with shockproof inserts on both sides. We give our score for originality and design to Dakine.
cooler pocket
An original plus to the functionality was the presence in the Dakine Duel 26L backpack of a special thermal pocket, which is made using heat-insulating materials. In such a pocket, the temperature difference lasts up to 4 hours. This plus of Dakine backpacks will keep your lunch fresh in summer and warm in winter. Nike, unfortunately, did not have such a compartment.
External fixings
A distinctive feature of the Dakine backpack is the presence of additional fasteners on the front of the backpack for carrying a skateboard, mat, jacket, yoga mat, tripod, and other things.
Unfortunately, none of the Nike backpacks have been equipped with such useful attachments. In our opinion, this is a plus for the functionality of the backpack, so we give extra points to Dakine backpacks.
Workmanship and Warranty
And as always, having received test specimens, we decided to traditionally conduct our small experiment on visual evaluation. Removed the price tags from Nike backpacks and asked our consultants to evaluate their quality and give their opinion on their possible retail price. The majority said that the expected prices for Nike backpacks in the 1st and 2nd groups were 30-40% lower than their actual retail value.
Quality of tailoring of backpacks
