The Impact of Women in Leadership: Insights from Global Trends
While the Global Wo.Men Hub focuses on collaboration between genders, it’s important to recognize the significant strides made in women’s leadership globally. A testament to this progress comes from Leanne Stokeld, Managing Director of Firefly Investments 238, who highlights a fascinating trend:
“You are probably unaware that the global growth in the number of companies with women in senior management has been mainly due to emerging economies such as Africa where 89% of companies have at least one woman.”
This statistic underscores the importance of looking beyond traditional Western markets when assessing progress in gender equality. It also raises intriguing questions about the factors contributing to this trend in emerging economies.
Factors Contributing to Women’s Leadership in Emerging Economies
- Cultural shifts and changing societal norms
- Economic necessities driving inclusive practices
- Targeted initiatives promoting women’s education and professional development
- Recognition of diverse perspectives as a competitive advantage
The success of women in leadership roles in emerging economies serves as an inspiration and a model for global progress in gender equality.
Membership in the Global Wo.Men Hub: Fostering Diversity and Inclusion
The Global Wo.Men Hub’s approach to membership reflects its commitment to diversity and inclusion. By welcoming both individuals and organizations, the Hub creates a rich ecosystem of perspectives and expertise.
Who Can Join the Global Wo.Men Hub?

- Academic institutions
- Non-profit organizations and associations
- Corporations and businesses
- Government agencies and public institutions
This inclusive membership structure allows for cross-sector collaboration and the exchange of ideas between diverse stakeholders, all united in the goal of promoting gender equality and societal progress.
The Role of Men in Promoting Gender Equality
While much of the focus on gender equality has traditionally centered on empowering women, the Global Wo.Men Hub recognizes the crucial role that men play in this endeavor. By explicitly including men in its name and mission, the Hub acknowledges that true progress requires the active participation and support of all genders.
How Can Men Contribute to Gender Equality?
- Advocating for equal opportunities in the workplace
- Challenging gender stereotypes and biases
- Supporting work-life balance initiatives
- Mentoring and sponsoring women in their careers
- Participating in education and training programs on gender equality
The Hub’s approach emphasizes that gender equality is not a zero-sum game, but rather a collaborative effort that benefits society as a whole.
Navigating Societal Transition: The Hub’s Holistic Approach
The Global Wo.Men Hub’s focus on “a society in transition” acknowledges the rapid changes occurring in technology, work patterns, social norms, and global interconnectedness. By addressing these changes through a gender-inclusive lens, the Hub aims to create more resilient and adaptable communities.
Key Areas of Societal Transition Addressed by the Hub
- Digital transformation and its impact on work
- Changing family structures and work-life balance
- Environmental sustainability and gender equality
- Global migration and cultural integration
- Evolving definitions of leadership and success
By tackling these complex issues through collaborative research, targeted projects, and comprehensive education programs, the Global Wo.Men Hub strives to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
The Power of Testimonials: Measuring Impact and Inspiring Action
The Global Wo.Men Hub’s effectiveness is not just measured in statistics and project outcomes, but also in the personal experiences of its members and beneficiaries. Testimonials, like the one from Leanne Stokeld, serve as powerful tools for demonstrating the Hub’s impact and inspiring others to get involved.
The Value of Testimonials in Driving Change
- Providing real-world examples of progress
- Highlighting unexpected insights and trends
- Motivating potential members and supporters
- Demonstrating the global reach of the Hub’s initiatives
- Offering personal perspectives on complex issues
By showcasing diverse voices and experiences, the Hub reinforces its message of inclusivity and collaboration, encouraging more individuals and organizations to join the movement for gender equality.
As the Global Wo.Men Hub continues to grow and evolve, its multifaceted approach to promoting gender equality and navigating societal transitions offers a promising model for creating lasting change. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, fostering research and education, and developing innovative projects, the Hub is well-positioned to make a significant impact on the global stage.
The journey towards true gender equality is ongoing, but initiatives like the Global Wo.Men Hub demonstrate that progress is possible when we work together, embrace diversity, and remain committed to creating a more equitable world for all. As society continues to evolve, the Hub’s emphasis on collaboration, research, and action provides a blueprint for addressing complex challenges and building a brighter future.

Video: a drunken man who fell into the Fontanka was saved by Chizhik-Pyzhik | incidents

St. Petersburg, June 10 – AiF-Petersburg.
The famous St. Petersburg Chizhik-Pyzhik helped a drunk man not to drown. Video of the incident has surfaced on social media.
On Friday evening, June 9, the man somehow ended up in Fontanka. According to eyewitnesses, he was drunk and probably just fell into the river. Clinging to Chizhik, he tried to get out, and then just hung on him. And he hung in this position for about 15 minutes, until rescuers called by passers-by arrived in time.
For some reason, the boat passing by didn’t pick up the man – his heartless passengers only giggled and offered tourists to throw coins at the man, while the unfortunate man struggled to hold on to a small (its height is 11 centimeters) sculpture, trying not to fall into the water .
In the comments, subscribers are indignant why the crowd of onlookers does not help him in any way – for example, by tying jackets and lowering a kind of rope for him. Or ask passing motorists for a cable. The young man tried to pull him out: he climbed over the fence, but could not reach.
Others wonder why it hangs so stubbornly on Chizhik – it’s shallow under the sculpture, and every summer they see people near the bridge collecting coins thrown at Chizhik by tourists. There, waist-deep, well, I would have stood, I would have earned extra money.
By the way, some people manage to collect money from the sculpture and get back without getting their feet wet – like this guy did a few years ago. But the man, tired of fighting the river and his own drunkenness, did not succeed.
In any case, the incident ended without tragedies – the rescuers who arrived at the scene took away the man who had gathered a full house.
By the way, there are two Chizhik-Pyzhik in St. Petersburg. And recently, the townspeople and guests of the city were told how to find a second one. It is located on Vasilyevsky Island.
