Founded in 1959 in Hampton, Iowa, the company has flourished over six decades, evolving into a fourth-generation, family-owned enterprise. Its success story serves as an inspiration in the retail sector, demonstrating how a local business can expand into a multi-state operation while maintaining its core values and customer-centric approach.
The acquisition by Maverik marks the end of an era for Kum & Go as a family-owned business, but it also opens new chapters of growth and innovation. How has Kum & Go’s legacy contributed to its attractiveness as an acquisition target? The company’s strong brand recognition, loyal customer base, and strategic locations in key markets have made it a valuable asset in the convenience store industry.

Prior to the acquisition, Maverik had already established itself as a significant player in the convenience store and fuel marketing sector. With nearly 400 locations across 12 western states, Maverik held the title of the largest independent fuel marketer in the Intermountain West. This position speaks volumes about the company’s operational excellence, strategic expansion, and ability to compete effectively in a highly competitive market.
The acquisition of Kum & Go further solidifies Maverik’s market position and expands its geographical reach. How will this enhanced status impact Maverik’s business operations and market influence? This addition to Maverik’s portfolio introduces a new dimension to the company’s operations, potentially offering significant advantages in supply chain management and distribution.
How might the acquisition of Solar Transport benefit Maverik’s operations? By bringing logistics capabilities in-house, Maverik could optimize its supply chain, reduce transportation costs, and ensure more reliable delivery of fuel and other products to its expanded network of stores. How might this acquisition affect competition and consumer choice in the convenience store sector? On one hand, the increased scale of the combined company could lead to improved efficiencies and potentially lower prices for consumers. However, it also reduces the number of independent players in the market, which could impact competition dynamics in certain regions.
Potential Industry Implications

- Potential for further industry consolidation as companies seek to remain competitive
- Opportunities for innovation in products and services due to increased resources

Review of Lego Maverick Quick Build Tent
In the search, Maverick products attracted attention, primarily due to their ease of use. After I saw a quick-assembly tent, I realized that I had dreamed about this all my travel life. The negative experience with the Chinese tents added an argument in her favor. Immediately advice, put braces, do not neglect. The tent, although stable, is not immune from sudden gusts of wind. If you use a tent in the mountains, buy metal pegs. Comes with soft ground.

I was looking for a tent for family trips. I wanted something bigger + for long trips. For three people outside of civilization, this is naturally a home. The tent is not light, but this is a price for the dimensions, so consider this factor when choosing.
