Abuse Prevention | US Lacrosse
There are many reasons to play sports, including a wide range of physical, emotional and social benefits. But abuse, on any level and in any form, can not be part of the equation. The paramount principal that guides USA Lacrosse is that any and all forms of physical and sexual abuse or misconduct are strictly prohibited. National background checks and online abuse prevention training are two tools used by USA Lacrosse to help make our sport safer for all.
The USA Lacrosse Abuse Prevention Policy is the foundation for rules, policies and responsibilities for athlete safety and well-being, and the prevention of abuse. The policy encompasses the requirements of the Protecting Young Victims and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 and the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) Recommended Guidelines, Best Practices and Background Screening in Youth-Serving Organizations.
What We CaN All Do Together
- All new and renewing adult coach memberships require a mandatory national background screening.
- Provide online abuse prevention training for adult coaches and officials, free of charge.
- Establish policy that requires mandatory reporting of any suspected child abuse or neglect.
Online Abuse Prevention Training
The online abuse prevention training is provided through Abuse Prevention Systems. While the training is free, it does require a login through USA Lacrosse’s My Account member login.
Reporting Abuse
USA Lacrosse policy requires that all staff members, volunteers, and members of USA Lacrosse must report any suspicions or allegations of abuse or neglect (including child sexual abuse) to law enforcement and child protective services and notify the USA Lacrosse Abuse Prevention Program. For issues with any of the following, please file a report with USA Lacrosse: sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, grooming, emotional misconduct, bullying, hazing, physical misconduct, and retaliation.
File a Report
Any suspicion must be reported to state and local child protective services and law enforcement agencies. To assist in understanding where to report in a specific location, check www.childwelfare.gov or call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.

Vintage pictures of LAX airport: Remarkable images spanning 90 years
LAX started life as an empty field; now it regularly charts as one of the world’s busiest airports.
It was Charles Lindbergh’s groundbreaking transatlantic flight of 1927 that convinced Los Angeles officials of the need for an airport in the City of Angels.
Opened in 1928 as Mines Field, today LAX is a major transport hub, benefiting from good weather and breezy takeoff conditions, thanks to the neighboring Pacific Ocean.
When it comes to LAX history, no one knows more than the official airport historian, Ethel Pattison.
At 93, she’s been around longer than the airport itself. A former flight attendant for United Airlines, Pattison later worked in PR for the airport and now manages the collection at LAX’s Flight Path Learning Center and Museum.
From convincing the airport officials that a newer, bigger airport was needed after the advent of the jet engine, to hobnobbing with The Beatles when they landed in LA in 1964, Pattison chatted to CNN Travel about her incredible aviation career.
LAX growth

In the late 1940s, Pattison graduated from the University of Southern California with an advertising degree. She worked for a nylon hosiery company for a couple of years, before she decided to pursue a career in aviation.
“I had a sorority sister that was a stewardess for United Airlines,” says Pattison.
“I was inspired and so I was hired by United in 1951 in July and then I flew for a year and a quarter.”
Pattison quickly fell in love with flying, although she never got to travel outside of the US.
“You have to realize there were no jets, it was all propellers,” she recalls. “DC-3s, [DC-4s], DC-6, DC-6B and then the jets did not come till 1959.”

For Pattison, working as a flight attendant was her dream job — but when she got married she had to retire.
“In those days you could not be married and still fly,” she explains. “That was the rule then if you were going to get married.”
After her marriage, Pattison was keen to continue working in the aviation industry and she joined LAX in the public relations department.
“I came on in ’56 — it’ll be 63 years,” she says. “It’s always fun and interesting and in public relations that’s where the action is.”
It helped that LAX was in the middle of a big expansion period. The international terminal was constructed in 1961 to accommodate the bigger and better planes that signaled the advent of the Jet Age.
This 1965 photograph from LAX depicts former flight attendants “grounded” after marriage and now working as tour guides.

“All of a sudden the planes were bigger, they carried more people and then you had to improve your facilities, make more room for passenger circulation as we call it,” explains Pattison.
Pattison’s role proved crucial in bringing LAX up to speed.
“We needed to pass a bond issue to make a new airport because we had a very small airport east of Sepulveda on Century Boulevard,” recalls Pattison.
“So we passed the bond issue by giving tours to students and youth groups and adult groups — everybody we can think of to educate them, to say yes to the proposition. That was 1956. It had been defeated twice before so we had an uphill battle, so we went to the grassroots and educated the children, had them tell their parents.
And so the measure, the bond measure, won eight to one. So it was a remarkable thing that happened.”
Meeting The Beatles

LAX has long been good for a celebrity spot — Los Angeles is home to Hollywood, after all.
Pattison’s job in PR involved her hosting and welcoming the great and good to the terminal, from presidents to actors to musicians.
“We would always be involved in any celebrity arrival,” she recalls. “I met The Beatles in 1964.”
A keen photographer, Pattison couldn’t resist capturing the moment when the Fab Four disembarked from the airplane. She also snapped a couple of shots from the press conference.

“I’ve taken pictures since I was a teenager so I do have a lot,” she says.
“I just did it and then we had a professional [photographer] — mine were kind of similar but more candid in a way.”
She even has a photograph of herself with Paul McCartney.
“I wouldn’t dream that 50 years later my pictures would be of interest to anybody, but they are,” she reflects.
Official historian
One of the images in Pattison’s collection depicts the 1936 National Air Races, where stunt pilots performed on a glider.

Today, Pattison’s still a key part of LAX operations. She’s the airport’s official historian and custodian of photographs of its varied history — from her Beatles shots to photographs dating back to the 1930s depicting the National Air Races, featuring stunt pilots performing on gliders.
The Flightpath Museum is located in the former Imperial Terminal.
“It’s open five days a week, 10-3 and we have visitors that come around and look at lots of memorabilia from airlines and aircraft companies and the airport itself,” says Pattison.
“We have just a great little area here, great view looking north toward the runway system.”

In fact, visitors to the museum can sit outside, with an escort, and watch the planes departing and arriving.
Pattison manages a team, mostly volunteers, many of whom have also worked at the airport for years.
“When you’ve worked that long you kind of know what should be saved and what might be interesting,” she says.
“We have a couple of girls that started in PR when I was there and have retired from the airport itself — one was in film operations, the other in ground transportation. But they’re all very knowledgeable on the history because they started with public relations. “
Dream job

For Pattison, a Los Angeles native, working at LAX is the dream.
“I live near the beach near the airport. And I guess now I’ve been lots of places in my travels and I know that if you knew the weather you wouldn’t want to leave,” she laughs.
“I think the bottom line is the weather out here is mild all around the time,” she adds. “So people come and then there’s plenty to do, many attractions.”
Pattison loves documenting the changing face of LAX — and she’s invested in the changes that are to come too. The airport is currently undergoing major expansion and more developments are afoot.
“As long as I can be helpful, I’d like to just help keep the history going that way and talk to people,” she says.
LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS)
Project Overview
LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS) was selected by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to design-build, finance, operate and maintain the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Automated People Mover (APM). The LAX APM will provide reliable, time-certain access to the airline terminals and passengers and employees.
The LAX APM is LAWAs first public-private partnership (P3) project. LINXS scope includes five stations that will connect the future Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility, two intermodal transportation facilities, expanded airport parking and regional transit to the LAX Central Terminal Area (CTA). The project will transform the experience for travelers at one of Americas busiest and most iconic airports, while bringing jobs and workforce development to the local community.
Workforce
LINXS has built partnerships with community-based organizations to focus on expanding the pipeline of workers, especially those from non-traditional backgrounds. Through more than $1 million in investments, the project will create infrastructure career pathways for women, former foster youth, individuals in reentry and transitioning out of gang involvement and persons with disabilities. HireLAX, LAWA’s Apprenticeship Readiness Program, will be a key partner in this effort, as will other resources offered by the Building Trades and other industry partners.
To support emerging businesses and the local workforce, a combined $585 million has been identified for local, small or disabled veteran-owned businesses, with $85 million committed exclusively to local, small businesses in Los Angeles. The project will create more than 2,000 construction jobs, with at least 30% of those opportunities reserved for residents of Los Angeles as well as highly impacted communities near LAX. Sixty percent of careers during the 25-year operations and maintenance phase are designated for local workers.
Sustainability
In addition to reducing traffic-related emissions, the APM will leverage cutting-edge sustainability practices to reduce the airport areas carbon footprint. The systems fleet will consist of 44 energy-efficient train cars designed to eliminate hazardous substances and toxic emissions. Featuring state-of-the-art recyclable aluminum shells, these electric-powered cars generate a portion of their own power through regenerative braking while providing an industry-leading ride quality for users. The APM systems Maintenance and Storage Facility will generate nearly half of its power from a photovoltaic generation system and is designed to be LEED® Gold Certified. These design enhancements allowed the team to offset the carbon equivalent of 12 million vehicle miles driven.

Most Limo, Bus Drivers at LAX Not Screened
Only some of the hundreds of commercial drivers who pick up passengers at Los Angeles International Airport have undergone security background checks, despite having access to the terminal’s curbs that have been made off-limits to the driving public.
Limousine and shuttle bus drivers are not required to undergo special screenings for their jobs, unlike taxi drivers, who for years have had their backgrounds scrutinized, officials said.
Since the East Coast terrorist attacks, the checks on airport cabdrivers have been redoubled, with their records being shipped to the FBI. But LAX officials said they have only begun to consider whether such reviews are needed for limo and shuttle bus drivers too.
“We are looking at what options may exist for providing an added measure of screening for commercial vehicles,” said LAX spokesman Paul Haney.
Although no specific risks have been identified involving drivers of taxis, shuttles or limousines, every aspect of security at LAX has come under scrutiny since the Sept. 11 attacks. Some in the public have wondered why they cannot drive up to terminals when unscreened professional drivers can.
Airport officials have kept private vehicles away from the curbs because of a Federal Aviation Administration rule that requires police to evacuate everyone within 300 feet of any vehicle that is left unattended even momentarily.
Haney said cabs, shuttles and limousines are allowed at the curb because professional drivers are less likely to leave their vehicles unattended than the general public. Airport attendants stand on the curb to monitor the flow of cabs.
Because terrorists had plotted to plant a bomb at LAX just before New Year’s Day 2000, authorities said they believe the airport could still be a target. LAX administrators have since imposed some of the nation’s toughest security measures.
The airport closed Sept. 11 and 12. When it reopened Sept. 13, private cars were banned from the central terminal area and were permitted only to pick up and drop off passengers at remote parking lots. Although the terminal area was reopened to private vehicles last week, they are limited to the lanes farthest from the terminals and are permitted to pick up and drop off passengers only within parking structures.
In an attempt to keep closer tabs on the thousands of commercial vehicles that enter the airport, taxis, shuttles and limousines are required to pass a police checkpoint when they enter the airport from a dedicated ramp on 96th Street.
But on a recent afternoon, two officers who sat on folding chairs at the checkpoint simply waved the paid drivers into the airport. One of the officers, who asked to remain anonymous, said he believes each commercial driver who enters the airport should be required to show identification.
Haney said airport officials have not ordered such scrutiny because it is “not warranted at this point.” He added that commercial vehicles pass through the airport about 25,000 times per day and that stoping each one could bring airport traffic to a standstill.
He said that all commercial vehicles that enter the airport are subject to random searches. Several cab drivers confirmed that they have been stopped by airport police within the airport and ordered to provide identification.
Only taxicabs licensed by Los Angeles and bear a city seal can pick up passengers at LAX. Cabs licensed by other cities are barred from the curb area and can only drop off passengers in parking structures.
Los Angeles requires each taxi driver to undergo a criminal background check, conducted by the California Department of Justice and dating back seven years. The city also checks the applicants’ driving records and requires them to show proof they can work legally in the United States.
City officials recently submitted the names of all 3,500 licensed cab drivers to the FBI for further screening. In addition, the city’s taxi companies have jointly hired several off-duty police officers to scrutinize the drivers and search the cabs as they wait in a holding area outside the LAX terminals, according to a taxi firm representative.
Several drivers interviewed at the taxi holding area said the extra scrutiny has not been overly obtrusive.
“I look like I’m from the Middle East, but nobody bothers me,” said Levon Arutyunyan, a native of Armenia who has driven a taxi for 17 years.
But some drivers apparently have tried to reduce the chances of raising suspicion from authorities or skittish travelers.
One driver, a Muslim whose identification card shows him wearing a turban and a long black beard, wore a plain black baseball cap as he pulled into the airport recently. Several other drivers have decorated their cabs with small American flags.
The operators of other kinds of commercial vehicles have not received the same level of official scrutiny as cabdrivers. The drivers of shuttle vans and limousines, who are licensed by the California Public Utilities Commission, are required only to provide proof of liability insurance for each vehicle and to submit to annual drug tests.
A PUC spokesman said only the state Legislature can impose new screening requirements for such drivers.
“Given everything that has been going on lately, I would be surprised if the subject doesn’t come up,” said Paul Wuerstle, manager of the PUC’s carrier branch.
At least one shuttle company has imposed a tougher screening process since Sept. 11. Last month, Los Angeles-based Prime Time Shuttle, which operates 125 shuttles, began to conduct criminal background checks on all of its drivers, said Ken Taylor, director of sales and marketing.
“The emphasis is to ensure we have done everything humanly possible to eliminate every risk,” he said.
Other firms that serve LAX rely on less formal screening processes.
David Heidari, owner of Airport Limousine and Sedan, said he does not do criminal background checks on his drivers. But he said he hires only drivers whom he knows personally or those who come with strong recommendations from friends.
“Mostly,” he said, “it’s that kind of a relationship.”

90,000 How to choose the right background for your studio?
The background is almost as important in photography as the subject or light.
To see this, try photographing a portrait against the background of a colorful grandmother’s carpet. Even if you have a professional camera with lighting equipment, a flawless model, made up by a make-up artist and in a dress from a leading designer, getting high-quality photographs will remain a challenge. The background in photography plays an irreplaceable role and can either ruin the picture or enrich it.In this article, let’s take a look at the backgrounds that you can purchase to create staged shots.
There are five main types of backgrounds. Each of them has its own advantages and weaknesses.
Paper background is the most common in professional studios. Its main advantages are: lack of texture, dullness and elasticity. Lack of texture is required in most photographs where it is necessary to put emphasis on the subject.At the same time, nothing distracts from the main subject of photography, and due to the rich palette of colors, it is possible to choose a background of almost any shade.
Dullness of the background allows avoiding glare, the light falls on the background gently, without creating reflections (unlike, for example, a glossy plastic background). Due to the elasticity, several problems can be solved at once: the background hardly wrinkles; the wall-to-floor transition is smooth after unwinding.
The disadvantages include only dimensions and consumption.The most common size of a paper background is 2.7×11 meters. In the folded state, the background is a tube 2.75 meters long (in the package), and therefore it is difficult to use it for an outdoor photo shoot. By the way, this disadvantage comes out of the advantage – the elasticity of the background. If most of the photo sessions will take place outside the studio, this background is practically unnecessary.
The second most common – fabric backgrounds – almost the exact opposite of paper backgrounds. Reusable fabric backdrops.Most of them can be washed (it is necessary to check with the seller specifically for each background). They are less prone to abrasion and rarely tear. It is easy to transport fabric backdrops – they fold up and fit into a bag.
The main disadvantages of fabric backgrounds are wrinkling, general wrinkling and the presence of a slight but noticeable texture. The wrinkling of the background leads to the fact that even an ironed one, hanging on an even crossbar, the background will go in a little waves, which when illuminated from the side (and usually the background is illuminated from the side) will lead to consistent shadows.After the background gets dirty, it must be washed and then ironed. It is not difficult when there is time and effort, because ironing a 3×6 meter background is not an easy task that requires certain skills. Considering that at this time the studio will be idle, the economic disadvantage becomes obvious. Among other things, modern cameras are equipped with very sharp lenses, and in the studio there is usually enough light, and therefore the depth of field of the lens contributes to the manifestation of the texture of the background in the photo, this is especially noticeable if you are shooting a close-up portrait.
But it is worth noting that all the disadvantages of tissue backgrounds can turn into advantages. For example, if you want to cover with a background not only the wall and the floor, but also the sofa on which you will shoot the model, a paper background will not work. Good crease of the fabric background will do a good job.
We should also talk about backgrounds on flexible holders or, as they are also called, twist-flex . These are fabric backgrounds on a flexible hoop that folds easily (reflectors are made according to a similar system).Such a system is very convenient for on-site shooting – the flexible hoop is quite elastic and straightens all the folds of the background, as a result, by unrolling the background, you get a background that is no longer wrinkled for shooting. In addition, the hoop can be simply leaned against the wall or hung “on a nail” by the hanging eyelet.
The disadvantage of this system is the limited size. Usually, such backgrounds do not make more than 2 meters on one side. It should be borne in mind that you cannot stand on it with your feet when shooting, and therefore you cannot remove the model in full growth so that the background is uniform.However, twist-flex is produced with a canopy – that is, with an additional piece of fabric so that you can stand on it with your feet, but this piece is small and disproportionately increases the cost of the background.
Backdrops on flexible holders are very popular among photographers who shoot half-length portraits on the road – most often this is photographing in kindergartens and schools, as well as photographs for documents.
Non-woven background, or in common parlance, non-woven, has its advantages and disadvantages. The main two advantages are low cost and wear resistance.Due to the low cost of the background, it is often used by novice photographers. Abrasion resistance and durability allows you to use backgrounds where paper or fabric backgrounds cannot be used, for example, when shooting aqua.
The disadvantages of a non-woven background include a rough texture if the canvas is inexpensive. Non-woven, like paper backdrops, is supplied on cardboard rolls, therefore, as a result, large backgrounds are not convenient for transportation. Because of the roll, the background is difficult to wash, but you can wipe it with a damp cloth, and therefore we can say that it is reusable.
Velvet backgrounds, due to their texture, are very often used for product photography.
Plastic backgrounds are the most resistant to abrasion, have a smooth texture, but at the same time they have a big drawback – the reflection even from a matte plastic background is too large and often leads to glare, as well as partial reflection of the object on the background.
Most often, plastic backgrounds are used for subject photography. Sometimes a large piece of background is used to reduce the abrasion of the paper one – a piece of plastic background is placed under the model’s feet.
Chromakey backgrounds are intended for further replacement with another background. The most common colors are green and blue (cyan), but almost any color can be used, including white and black. The most popular background color for combined filming in photography and filmmaking is green (this gave the technology the name “Green screen”). For television programs, a blue background (“Blue screen”) is often used, although the color of the rear screen depends on the creative task set by the director and the characteristics of the equipment.
Why use green and blue? Because these are the least common colors in clothes and therefore easily amenable to replacement in the future, including in real time using special programs.

How to choose the right background for a professional and home photo studio. – Photo Who
A high-quality background plays a huge role in photography – it is often just as important as the subject and the right light.
To see this, try photographing a portrait against the background of a colorful grandmother’s carpet. Even if an impeccable, makeup artist wearing a dress from a leading designer participates in the shooting, an experienced photographer, armed with a professional camera and studio lighting equipment, will hardly be able to get a high-quality picture with such a background.
The background can enrich the photo or ruin it hopelessly. .
Let’s take a look at why a quality background is a must-have for any staged photographer.
Backdrops for modern studios are divided into several main groups. Each of them has its own advantages and weaknesses.
Paper backgrounds – number one in professional studios. They are also popular at home. Such interest is aroused by the properties of the paper background, its main advantages.The paper background has practically no texture, so nothing will distract from the subject, it is matte, which means that the light will fall evenly, without glare, the background is dense and elastic enough so that all transitions, including from the wall to the floor, are smooth.
Backgrounds made of fabric are almost as interesting as paper ones, although they are in second place in popularity. By their properties, they are practically the opposite of paper ones, because are reusable mi. When the fabric background gets dirty, it is simply washed or dry-cleaned. The process of restoring purity depends on the quality of the background and the stability of the colors. These parameters must be checked with sellers.
Non-woven background (colloquially “ non-woven “) is a synthetic fabric. Non-woven, like paper backdrops, is most often supplied in rolls on cardboard tubes. The main differences from paper backgrounds are that non-woven backgrounds are reusable, they can be wiped with a wet cloth, but the main difference is the texture of such backgrounds.
Plastic backdrops are resilient plastic plates. The standard thickness offered by the manufacturer is 0.3 to 0.8 mm. For some special tweaks, you can order a thicker plastic background. But it should be borne in mind that such a background will already be difficult to bend. Plastic backgrounds are available in sizes from 0.7×1 m for photo tables and up to 2×6 meters.
Vinyl backdrops are the closest in quality to banner fabric, only with a matte surface.When shooting with a vinyl backdrop, it is impossible to get stray glare, as if using banner fabric as the background. Vinyl is considered the most durable backdrop on the market. Cleaning them is also easy – just wipe them with a damp cloth, and most of the dirt will go away. The only exceptions are black stripes from boots on white fabric. Also, the vinyl background is easily pressed through by the heels of model shoes.
The review of backgrounds will be incomplete without considering the capabilities of paint .Oftentimes, the studio walls are the best backdrop for shooting. What is easier – to paint one of the walls black, the second gray, the third white, while capturing a piece of the floor for painting, for shooting models in full growth. You can pick up a permanent paint and choose from all the millions of shades that manufacturers offer. And that’s what they do in big studios. They are also often painted in green chromakey studios, where they shoot video, since the programs automatically allow you to change the background to any.

How to blur the background in Photoshop / Photo processing in Photoshop / Photo lessons
A blurred background (or background) allows you to remove distracting elements and concentrate the viewer’s attention on the main subject of the shooting. The most correct thing is to blur the background even at the shooting stage using optics, open aperture and the correct choice of focal length, but this effect can be reproduced a little in Photoshop.
Let’s take a look at how to blur the background in Photoshop.
Open the photo in Adobe Photoshop.
First, create a copy of the original layer. To do this, you can either select the menu item Layer / “Layers” → Dublicate Layer … / “Duplicate layer …” , or drag the layer thumbnail onto the icon for creating a new layer in the layers panel with the mouse.
Like other effects, blur is best applied to a copy of the original layer.
Click on the top layer.
If you just blur the background in Photoshop and leave only the girl sharp, the picture may look unnatural.In order to achieve a more realistic effect, it is necessary to emulate shooting with an open aperture and a shallow depth of field. With this kind of shooting, blurring occurs smoothly. The farther from the focus point, the stronger. We will now try to achieve this effect.
Select not very large blur parameters, for a start 5-10 pixels will be enough. Press Ok and see that the image on the screen has become blurry.
Now duplicate again the original layer Background .The double will appear at the top of the Layers panel with the name “Background copy 2” . On this new copy of the original layer, again apply filter Gaussian Blur , but this time set the blur radius larger than in the previous case. We got 12 pixels.
The last time we repeat the sequence of actions – copy the layer → blur the copy. Now set the blur radius even more, about 30 pixels. But the exact value will depend on the size of your image.
As a result of these operations, we get 4 layers – the original sharp layer and three layers with blur, while the degree of blur increases with each layer.
Now our task is to make a smooth transition from strong to weak blur depending on the distance from objects to the girl (she should be in focus and sharp).
The most correct thing is to draw “sharpness” on the mask manually, because only you can determine the distance of objects in the photo; automatics will not be able to do this.But we will go the simpler way.
Add a mask to the topmost layer, as it has the highest degree of blur.
The mask is a kind of stencil. Where it is black, areas on the layer to which it is applied are no longer visible. The white areas are completely visible. Therefore, to achieve a smooth and natural effect, we need the Gradient Tool .
Select a white to black gradient and overlay it from top to bottom.Thus, from the most blurred layer, only the upper part remains, which smoothly “disappears” and reveals the underlying layer, where the blur is not so strong.
Here we have a smooth transition between two degrees of blur.
Do a similar operation on the layer Background Copy 2 with a medium blur. Only in it you need to make a smooth transition from the middle part of the frame to the bottom, which means that the center of the gradient should be lower than in the previous case.
For now we do not pay attention to the fact that the girl’s figure is also blurred, we will deal with this later.
Blurring in the photo already looks quite natural, there is only one small touch left – to blur the foreground. Click on the layer Background Copy , which has the weakest blur, add a mask to it and apply a gradient.
Now we need to make it so that only the figure of the girl remains sharp. In fact, we need to add another mask to each of the blur layers, which will hide the blur on the girl’s shape. In order not to draw identical masks three times, we will proceed as follows.
Add a new folder using the command Create new group / “Create a new group” in the lower toolbar in the layers panel. Move the three layers with blur and their masks to the folder that appears. It is important to follow the sequence of the layers and transfer them in the same order as they were.
Now you can add a mask to the folder. It will affect all the layers that have been combined into this group – very convenient.
Using the group mask with a black brush, carefully paint over the girl’s figure.To achieve the best effect, the work should be done at 100% increase in the frame, changing the characteristics of the brush.
As a result, we got a shot with a naturally blurred background, and we learned how to blur the background in Photoshop.

Site background and performance problem on netbooks / Habr
Until recently, I was firmly convinced that a modern computer can easily grind any ordinary html / css sites that do not greatly abuse any interactivity, ajax and flash.It turns out – I was wrong (no wonder – I’m not an expert in this matter)
Suddenly it turned out that there are netbooks that have completely different capacities, and they stumble on quite simple sites. Let’s say the site of my project, a completely ordinary WordPress blog, caused problems for one of the readers.
The reason, as it turned out, was a static, non-rolling background. This caused wild lag when viewing in IE8 on a netbook. The usual background scrolling along with the content did not cause such an effect.
It probably doesn’t make sense to make a special version of the site for netbooks, so to make life easier for owners of weak computers, you can use user css by overloading the values of the background property. To make the background scroll, remove the line background-image: none;
, if you just want to remove the background, leave it as it is and save it to a text file.
body
{
background-attachment: scroll;
background-image: none;
}
Then this file is connected (this is information, of course, for site users):
* IE8: Tools-> General-> Accessibility-> Select “Format documents using my style sheet”, then select the text file with the above css and double click ok to return from the menu.Next, you have to restart your browser.
* Chrome: Chrome does not have a built-in option to load custom CSS – this can be done using one of the extensions (1, 2, 3)
* Opera: call the context menu when the site is open, View tab – custom css.
* Firefox: Either by saving the Userconternt.css file in the profile folder (http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html), or using similar addons
I hope someone will find this little discovery useful.

How to change the environment while broadcasting
Distance education, telecommuting businesses are often associated with the fact that schoolchildren, employees are forced to connect from home.
Living conditions, repairs, temporary circumstances do not always serve as a cool background for a lesson.Old carpet, strange wallpaper on the wall, indoor flowers, a toilet, hamster cages, sacks of potatoes, lights that blink, music distracts attention. For some, they serve as a reason for laughter, others are upset.
So that the background during home schooling does not annoy the work, we suggest changing it. In the article we will describe in detail whether it is possible to put dynamic, carbon monoxide, funny wallpapers.
Replacing the zoom background on pc and phone
The appearance on which a person is presented during studies or a meeting in zoom (zoom, zoom) can be replaced on an Android phone, iPhone, laptop, computer.
There are several options for changing the wallpaper for a zoom conference:
- select a virtual background from the built-in package;

- chroma key technology. This is a physical green background that is used if the smartphone, pc, tablet does not have sufficient resources, does not meet the system requirements.The use of chroma key is also due to the weak Internet. What is virtual background
If the reality in which online training is conducted is far from ideal, we recommend changing the real background to a virtual one.
Using this zoom function will allow the participants to be in space, a bunker, in a clearing with green grass, in the popular McDonald’s, a scene from minecraft. The images are cool, juicy, realistic, and not just neutral, white, beige, colored, black as a sheet of paper.
The only obstacle is that not every device can be replaced.
The minimum system requirements are:
- for images and videos without chroma key – PC with 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 10, processor from i7 (fourth generation) or Windows 10 with Intel i5 Dual core processor or higher;
- for images and video with chroma key – pc with 64-bit win 7,8,10 with 2Ghz i5, i7 dual-core processor, corresponding AMD equivalent.
The “virtual wallpaper” option works on iPhone 8, 8+, X, iPad 9.7 5th, 6th generation, iPad Pro.
If your computer, laptop, smartphone meets the specified requirements, we suggest going to the next chapters and familiarizing yourself with how and where to install the virtual background.
Setting up and modifying
You can change and customize the wallpaper in your profile, room, group.
You can set background for zoom like this:

For replacement in the room (zoom rooms):
- log in with administrator rights;
- in the settings find “Virtual background”, press green;
- to choose unusual wallpaper.
Changes will be visible when using the main and front cameras.
You can change the background for all members of a certain group at once. The tool is only available to a presenter with the right to edit communities.
Replacement algorithm:

For a group of na setters dreaming of a winter vacation, a bar in London, a platform in Paris, a star birthday party in Bottom, the sea in the Maldives, a beach on an island;
- Enable Lock to change the interface for all participants.
For the changes to take effect, all participants need to exit the zoom and log in again.
You can diversify the library using Snap Camera. The application has a rich selection of custom masks, filters that are applied to images and videos.
Works like this:
- install, run the program;
- open zoom;
- go to the video settings, where instead of the webcam, select Snap Camera;
- change color, apply effects.
Disable wallpaper for zoom conference
To turn off the wallpaper and return to the real world around you, you must return to the “Virtual background” in the settings, click “no”, save.
Put a personal picture or video on the background at zoom
In addition to the existing collection, each zoom user can upload their own image. There is no limit to your imagination – load funny, cool, moving images, rofl, palm trees, meme, war, scary census results, prison, weapons.
All that needs to be done is to go to the “Virtual background” on any device, instead of the ready-made options, press the plus, download from the gallery, pc memory, facebook, VK the picture you like, video.In the English version, click download.
If the image quality is poor, use the free zoom virtual background maker to define the canvas, make it the most beautiful, creative.
The wallpaper can only be changed manually, there is no automatic replacement function.
If you customize the background for yourself, it will be saved. You do not need to change it the next time you visit.
Saving is also possible for rooms:
- go to zoom rooms;
- select a place in the hierarchy;
- press edit;
- select “Add content” from the list that opens;
- download image from library, gallery to pc, specify url;
- save.
The room will now have a special look, even if it is not currently video chatting.
Why and who needs it
The
Zoom in videoconference mode transmits video of the participants in the rooms in which they are located. They do not always look aesthetically pleasing.
To solve the problem, the developers propose to replace the real reality with virtual. the splash covers the unsightly interior. As a result, the image of the user, ava, will be located and move against an artificially created background.
This is interesting to everyone who follows the slogan of saving the house:
- Children travel in a spaceship in Star Wars;
- in the images, adults find themselves in the uniform of CSKA, the business office of the city of London, ike, on the balcony of a luxurious apartment with a fireplace, at the entrance of the temple, the working branch of Sberbank, Ural Federal University;
- teachers, people of the intellectual profession – in the world of their subject, classroom, with an interactive whiteboard.
Setting the background in zoom on Mac
The procedure for replacing the virtual background with zoom on apple computers, MacBooks is the same.
A personal photo is taken, the background image is changed in oneself, in a group, in a study room, in a conference.
System requirements must also be met
- for pictures without a physical green screen, you need a computer, a macbook with iOS9 with an i5, i7 quad-core processor;
- for wallpaper with green screen, depending on the version, you need a computer with Mac OS9 or higher with i5 dual-core or higher.
