You’ll need to have an interest in telephone and computer systems and be very detailed in your work.
While it’s helpful to have prior training or knowledge in telephone and computer systems maintenance, it’s not required.
You just need to be better than average in solving math problems!
Because ITs need a vast amount of electrical theory and practical hands-on skills, you’ll have to attend one of the longest “A” schools in the Coast Guard of 28 weeks.
Located in Petaluma, California, the IT “A” school will teach you everything you need to know about maintaining telephone, network cabling, and computer systems.
“C” schools are available to mid-career ITs responsible for maintaining telephone systems, and high-performing ITs are allowed to compete for selection to the advanced computer, engineering, and technology program.
Those selected receive two years of full-time paid-for college in order to receive an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
When most people think of the Coast Guard, they usually think of one thing: rescue swimmers.

It truly is one of the best jobs you can have in the Coast Guard.
That is of course, if you can make the cut!
Becoming a Coast Guard rescue swimmer is one of the most demanding and difficult jobs to hold.

Rescue swimmers are tasked with doing exactly what you would think; rescuing people from rough seas!
The Coast Guard will routinely receive SOS and distress calls in all types of weather.
They are tasked with going out and rescuing people in distress, and do a mighty fine job of it!

It truly is an honorable and enviable job, and to top it off, they also can serve in some of the coolest places you can think of.
How Do You Become A Rescue Swimmer?
Unlike the other Coast Guard jobs on this page, you need to be in incredible shape before you even try out.
Not only do you need a high level of mental acuity and military bearing, but you also need to be a heck of a swimmer!
Coast Guard rescue swimmer school training
The minimum physical standards to even begin training are as follows:
- Shoulder width push-ups: 50
- Sit-ups: 60
- Pull-ups: 5
- Chin-ups: 5
- 500 yard Crawl Swim: 12 minutes or better
- 25 yard underwater swim: Repeat 4 times without surfacing on each try
- Buddy Tow: You must be able to pull someone through the water for 200 yards, either across your chest or with a lifesaving device
Once you pass that, you then have a shot at becoming a rescue swimmer.
The training and selection is actually considered to be one of the toughest in the US Military, even comparable to certain portions of the Navy SEALs training.
In fact, in some cases the drop-out rate has approached the 80% mark!
Throughout your selection period, which lasts 18 weeks, you will be tasked with things like:
- How to approach, carry, and release a survivor
- Detangling various types of parachutes and backpacks
- Long periods of swimming and breath holds
- Advanced life saving techniques
In my opinion, the coolest job you could have in the Coast Guard is helicopter pilot.

Officially designated as a Direct Commission Aviator, Coast Guard pilots fly 3 types of rotary-aircraft:
- Sikorsky MH-60T Jayhawk
- Airbus MH-65 Dolphin

They respond to calls of distress, and will fly in some of the worst weather mother nature throws at them to rescue civilians.
They also will rescue downed military and civilian aviators, and work hand in hand with the other branches of the military.
Drug interdiction involves tracking and intercepting sea going vessels and aircraft that are smuggling in illicit drugs, as well as human trafficking.

How Do You Become A Direct Commission Aviator?
Unlike the other careers listed on this page, the path to becoming a helicopter pilot in the Coast Guard is significantly more difficult.
It’s estimated that there are only 800 pilots in the Coast Guard, and out of those 800, only around 400 of them are actually helicopter pilots.
In order to become a Coast Guard pilot, you need to first become an officer.
Coast Guard Officer Candidate School (OCS). Image: Dodlive.mil
As an officer, you must have at least a bachelors degree and graduate from the 17-week Officer Candidate school.
Alternatively, you can be a graduate of one of the other service branches flight schools, like the Air Forces’ Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) or the Armys aviation school.
In addition, you need to pass a rigorous physical exam, which includes things like:
A vision Test
Your vision must be correctable to 20/20 and uncorrected vision must be at least 20/50.
Additionally, you must have normal depth perception and not be color blind.
Lastly, they will test your field of vision, as well as check your eye reflexes.
Flight Physical
They will run routine blood work, as well as check your urine for illicit drugs.
They will also conduct a routine chest X-ray, as well as check your ears, nose, and throat.
Lastly, they will examine any mental, neurological, or cardiovascular abnormalities.
Coast Guard Flight School
Once you pass your flight physical, the real fun begins.
What’s interesting to note is, even though you’ll be flying helicopters upon completion of your training, all Coast Guard aviators (helicopter included) learn to fly fixed wing aircraft first.
Coast guard pilot standing in front of a T6 Texan II
Training is conducted at Pensacola Naval Air Station, and students will first learn to fly the T-6 Texan II.
Once that phase of the training is completed, they will then move on to the rotary wing (helicopter) training portion.
The whole process takes about 2 years from start to finish, at the end of which you’ll be stationed in any one of the numerous Coast Guard bases throughout the US.
Additionally, the pay for Coast Guard pilots is some of the highest out of any of the service branches.

Conclusion
And there you have it: the 5 best jobs in the Coast Guard you can have in 2021.
Keep in mind that each of these jobs (except Helicopter pilot) are available via both the Officer, and enlisted paths.
Many of these jobs are in-demand in 2021, so if you’re on the fence about joining up you should keep that in consideration.
Obviously it makes sense to choose the right career path for you, and the Coast Guard may not always necessarily be the right choice.
One of the easiest ways to figure that out is to ask yourself a few questions:
Would I enjoy being on a small ship for months at a time?
Would I benefit from joining a larger branch of the military, like the Army, Navy, or Marines?
What kind of job would I like to do after my service is up?
Your best bet would be to contact a local Coast Guard recruiter before you start signing anything.
They will be able to guide you in the right direction better than anyone else can.
With that said, you should definitely consider one of the above Coast Guard jobs if you’re looking for an exciting career in the military!

PO3’s follow a “High Year Tenure” track which limits the PO3 to eight years before they must advance to Second Class or be subject to involuntary separation from active duty.
Petty Officer Second Class (PO2/E-5)
Petty Officer Second Class holds dual responsibilities in leadership and technical roles. Like PO3, Petty Officer Second Class can act as law enforcement or a federal customs officer. They are subject to “High Year Tenure” as well, and have a total of 14 years to complete advancement requirements or be involuntarily separated from active duty.
Petty Officer First Class (PO1/E-6)
Petty Officer First Class is the third junior non-commissioned officer rank. The PO1 becomes increasingly proficient in their technical specialty. The Petty Officer First Class works towards a two or four-year undergraduate degree at a “C” School.

Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO/E-9)
Master Chief Petty Officer is the ninth and highest enlisted rank. Master Chiefs are experts in their field specialty. Promotion from this point forward is highly competitive. MCPOs can apply for the Command Master Chief Petty Officer Program to continue to refine their leadership skills and prepare them for larger roles within the USCG.
Fleet/Command Master Chief Petty Officer (CMC/E-9)
Command Master Chief Petty Officer holds a senior listed rank at a command level. The CMC acts as a liaison between the enlisted and command or commissioned officers. CMCs typically assist with issues surrounding discipline, training, technical challenges, and morale.
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard (MCPOCG/E-9)
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard is the highest senior rank and acting voice and representative of sailors. The MCPOCG travels and observes, gaining insight into the current state of each unit. Command depends on the MCPOCG to help correct or establish policies, entitlements, and training to ensure the well-being of enlisted personnel.
Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff/ SEAC

Ah, the perils of COVID-19 H.S. football
Aug. 13—High school football has never been without its incongruities, evidenced by what the kids and coaches faced Thursday when practice — sorry, Organized Team Activities — began for 2021.
Example: This piece of Americana about which books have been written and movies made begins with weather honoring that sage Buster Poindexter (“Hot, Hot, Hot” — as it did Thursday) and always ends in the chill of December, when you can hang meat from the goalposts.
Still, traditional ironies have nothing on the current plight of the dramatis personae, who suddenly entertain thoughts about their sport they (and nobody else) could fathom only two years ago. Such is life when a pandemic becomes endemic.
“It used to be that my first worry going into every season was ‘do I have a quarterback in the building?'” Montville coach Tanner Grove was saying. “Now it’s ‘will we be permitted to be together as a whole group or will we get a phone call from the powers that be shutting everything down?’ My expectations have been tempered in the last year and a half. “
And so we enter the COVID High School Football Season of 2021, a corn maze of maybes, could-bes … or not at all. Here it is, mid-August, beginning on summer’s green fields. But by the time of the autumn winds, what will the season look like? Will there be a season? Will there be shutdowns? Quarantines? New protocols? How will the kids and coaches negotiate changing circumstances?
The following bullet points come from Fitch coach Mike Ellis, on the uniqueness of coaching in COVID, during a career as a player, assistant and head coach approaching 30 years:
— “What are we going to cover and install and can we go about it the same way as we have in the past? Or do we have to slow things down because they haven’t played?”
— “Equipment. We’re not going to bring the kids in the fieldhouse to change so we have to find a place to hang their helmets and shoulder pads somewhere in school.”
Story continues
— “We have to wear masks in the fieldhouse (for pregame, halftime and postgame). But we don’t have to wear them on the field. Who distributes the masks to the kids and how long does that process take?”
— “We’re not in the weight room, so how do we lift?”
— “Film sessions. I don’t think we will watch film as a team in the fieldhouse together. Probably in small groups with position coaches on Sundays. How will that look?”
And then Ellis paused and said, “that’s just a sampling.”
Neither the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, the Eastern Connecticut Conference nor individual school systems have mandated vaccines for participation. There is no routine COVID testing planned. Grove said vaccinated players in Montville may return to practice upon feeling better, but unvaccinated players must quarantine. Too many players on quarantine could lead to postponements. Translation: All we know about the upcoming season is what we don’t know.
“I’m on the (CIAC football) committee and I’ve listened and talked during a million meetings,” Grove said. “This has really hit the coaches, players and family members of football players really hard.”
Lest we forget that as much as the ECC was a state beacon last fall for “football activities” — 7 on 7 and linemen challenges — wearing the pads presents a different narrative. Nobody’s been hit for two years. Most juniors, who normally have earned starting positions through two years in the program, have never played varsity. The only seniors with varsity time had to be good enough to see the field as sophomores.
“We’re all very appreciative of the opportunity we got last year with the 7 on 7 and the lineman challenges,” Ellis said. “But it doesn’t simulate a game. Once the pads are on, what are we going to see?”
Solace, if there is any, hovers around the idea that everyone else missed last season, too. So week one, which arrives in a month, will be filled with Gomer Pyle’s favorite three words: “surprise, surprise, surprise.”
“I think we’ve learned to appreciate being together, because you just never know anymore,” Ellis said. “We always took it for granted. Now, I don’t think you can take anything for granted.”
This is the opinion of Day sports columnist Mike DiMauro
Dozens of high school students turn out to march, rally in support of sexual abuse survivors
LOS GATOS — About three dozen young people, many of them current and former Los Gatos High School female students, gathered in the city’s downtown Tuesday to rally and march in solidarity with sexual assault survivors and to protest the “rape culture” many say exists at the school and the district’s lackluster response to complaints.
Holding up signs that read “Silence is not consent,” “Believe survivors” and “Reporting doesn’t ruin their lives, they did that themselves,” the student-led group From Survivors for Survivors and some of their supporters briefly blocked traffic on Santa Cruz Avenue before taking over the city’s public square, where several of the women told their stories of sexual assault.
Abbi Berry, a recent Los Gatos High graduate and co-founder of the group, told the crowd she knows firsthand the “intense emotional toll” that speaking up about sexual assault can take on survivors like herself.
LOS GATOS, CA – AUGUST 10: Heather Hennessy, center, leads a march along North Santa Cruz Avenue along with a group of over hundred people organized by Los Gatos High School students in a show of solidarity with sex abuse and sexual assault survivors in Los Gatos, Calif., on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021. Hennessy, a former Los Gatos High School student, and athlete is suing Los Gatos and Archbishop Mitty high schools on allegations that both schools failed to protect her from a predatory and abusive coach. (Anda Chu/Bay Area News Group)
She was among several dozen students who gathered at the Los Gatos High School football field in July 2020 as part of a groundswell of support for survivors of sexual assault and harassment. Inspired by the events of last year, Berry said she and other survivors at the school have continued their fight to change district policies.
“People are still talking about the shock waves we sent through town,” Berry said. “This movement did a lot, but it wasn’t easy. It took an intense emotional toll on us. At times we abandoned our emotional well-being for this fight. We should not have to rally and beg to be protected.”
Alaina Fox, a 2021 graduate and former editor of the school’s newspaper El Gato, said it became clear after the allegations began to surface that the school would not stand for stories critical of its investigative approach. She said she was “censored” multiple times and prohibited from writing about survivors’ stories or the school’s response.
“These are not isolated incidents, but a pattern of punishing anybody who tries to shed light on a decades-old problem, a pattern of protecting those who are responsible for the problems,” Fox said. “The administration’s strategy is and always has been to maintain a façade of the prefect school that belies the endemic violence that is hidden underneath. The goal isn’t to make things better, the goal is to avoid having to deal with it.”

Eight members of Los Gatos High School and district administration attended the rally Tuesday, along with all five members of the board of trustees, “to demonstrate support for our students speaking out against sexual harassment and assault,” Superintendent Michael Grove said in a statement Wednesday morning.
He said the district has “made a great deal of progress over the last year,” including revising board policies on Title IX investigations, approving a round-the-clock hotline for tips and reports, and implementing an ongoing four-year education curriculum about bullying and sexual harassment. The district also has hired an expert to support Title IX coordination and a new director of school culture.
“As we did with the survivors event that we supported and hosted at Los Gatos HS in July 2020, we fully support our students in advocating for survivors of sexual assault and/or harassment and we are proud of those who speak out against this behavior as it has no place in our community,” Grove’s statement said. “We continue to listen to and engage with our students to better educate our community and prevent this heinous behavior and to support those who are survivors of it.”
But former school district trustee Scott Broomfield — father of a Los Gatos student who alleges she was sexually assaulted by a classmate — told the crowd he is among those who have grown frustrated with the school’s response to sexual misconduct allegations. Broomfield said his family had to move away from Los Gatos after his daughter Lyssa — who also is a co-founder of From Survivors for Survivors — made a report about her assault.
“Everyone has a right to due process, but this is about accountability,” Broomfield told this news organization. “Every little small voice can make changes, so we just keep poking at the problem, and someday it will be better.”
Noting that most of those at the rally were young women, Broomfield urged young boys and men to “stand up too.”

The rally also was meant to show support for two lawsuits filed against the school district and Diocese of San Jose over the past year. In January, a former runner sued the district and two ex-track and field coaches alleging that she was sexually abused for more than three years.
The suit contends Los Gatos High School officials did nothing to stop Chioke “Chee” Robinson from sexually abusing the woman for years. Robinson was arrested two years ago on suspicion of sexually assaulting four girls over a 12-year period while he worked at Los Gatos and Piedmont Hills high schools.
A few months later former track star and current Fox Sports newscaster Heather Hennessy sued the schools in May, alleging that she was sexually exploited by Robinson starting in 1998 when she was a 14-year-old freshman at Archbishop Mitty High School. Hennessy tried to get away from Robinson by transferring to Los Gatos High, but he got a job there around the same time, the suit alleges.

(Anda Chu/Bay Area News Group)
Hennessy, who attended Tuesday’s rally, said her abuse has “eaten me up from the inside out” for years, and now she stands up to make sure “this doesn’t happen to any child again.”
“Until I see the school district take a stand for what is right, I will continue to speak,” Hennessy said. “I was sexually abused and assaulted, and when I tried to speak out about it I was silenced. Things could’ve changed if I had been empowered at my school or just treated equally. School is made to guide you into the real world, it should not be a place where there’s a culture of abuse and manipulation of students.”
Sea of Wit: Ukrainian provocation in the Kerch Strait ended in failure | Articles
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that it has incontrovertible evidence of a provocation that Kiev staged in the Black Sea area. Three ships of the Ukrainian Navy, on the morning of November 25, illegally crossed the Russian border in the Kerch Strait region, violated several articles of international maritime law at once. Ships that have invaded the territorial waters of Russia have been detained, the FSB reports. With the aim of forcibly stopping the ships, weapons were used.In this case, the Russian side had every reason to respond by force, noted military experts interviewed by Izvestia. To prevent repeated provocations in the Kerch Strait region, unmanned aerial vehicles will be involved in patrolling the state border, several interlocutors at the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia. The drones will continue flying in this segment until the final relaxation of tension.
To protect the maritime border in the Kerch Strait area and monitor the situation, the Orlan-10 and Outpost drones have already been used, several informed sources in the Russian military department told Izvestia.UAVs belonging to the Black Sea Fleet and the Aerospace Forces will operate both in the Black and Azov Seas. The drones are equipped with the latest optoelectronic and radio engineering systems.

On Sunday afternoon, Izvestia sent a request to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense with a request to clarify how the incident developed and what measures Kiev would take to rule out similar incidents in the future. However, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could not promptly provide an answer.
Anatomy of a provocation
On Sunday, at about 7 am, three ships of the Ukrainian Naval Forces crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea and entered the temporarily closed water area of the territorial sea of Russia. The violators headed for the Kerch Strait. The small armored boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol” entered the Russian territorial waters, as well as the sea tugboat “Yany Kapu” – according to Kiev, the ships were making the transition from Odessa to Mariupol.

The Ukrainian side did not submit applications for the passage of the strait in accordance with the established procedure, which is why the ships were not included in the schedule. Moreover, having entered the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, they began to maneuver dangerously, not obeying the legal requirements of the Russian side.
The violators, as several sources familiar with the situation told Izvestia, were timely detected by means of radio-technical intelligence on the way to the state border. Then they were escorted by a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle. In Russian waters, the violators were met by the ships of the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation – the Don border patrol ship, the Izumrud patrol boat of the project 22460 Hunter and the patrol boat of the project 12150 Mongoose.
One of the violators – the sea tug “Yany Kapu” – was forced out of the provocation area. At 11:30, the press center of the Ukrainian Navy reported that “the border ship Don (Russia) rammed a harbor tug, as a result of which the ship’s main engine, sheathing and guard rails were damaged, and a life raft was lost.”The Russian side did not confirm this message.
Later on the web there was a video taken from the board of the Don PSRK. The footage shows how the “Izumrud” (tail number 354) cuts the formation of Ukrainian ships and approaches the “Yana Kapu”. Later, the Russian speedboat Mongoose passes in front of the bow of the Ukrainian armored boat, forcing it to change course and turn sharply away. In the late afternoon, footage of the Russian patrol ship “Izumrud” with a hole and scratches about 20 meters long in the free part of the starboard side was also published.

According to one of the versions, it was the light “Emerald”, which substituted its side, was the first to try to push back the violators. As a more weighty argument, at 8:21 am, the Don PSRK was used, which, when squeezed out, inflicted major damage on the Ukrainian ship.
Russian border guards were able to competently stop the Ukrainian ships, forced them to change their course and interrupt the task, military historian Dmitry Boltenkov said in an interview with Izvestia.
Border locked
At 11:30 the border service of the FSB of Russia announced the movement of armored artillery boats of the Gyurza-M class from the port of Berdyansk on the Sea of Azov in the direction of the Kerch Strait. But, having reached the border of Russia, the Ukrainian ships, not daring to violate it, went into a drift. During the day, there were reports that these boats allegedly passed under the Crimean bridge. However, it turned out that they were confused with the Russian armored boats of Project 1204 “Bumblebee”. Late in the evening, the ships from Berdyansk lay on the opposite course, the FSB said in a statement, referred to by TASS.
At about 13:00, two Russian Ka-52 combat helicopters appeared in the provocation area. According to Izvestia, these machines belonged to the first squadron of the 39th helicopter regiment from the Crimean Dzhankoy. Later, the general director of the Crimean Sea Ports enterprise, Aleksey Volkov, said that the Kerch Strait was closed for the passage of civil ships for security reasons. Around 15:00, a video appeared showing Russian border boats and a dry cargo ship blocking the path of Ukrainian warships in front of the Crimean bridge.

At 23:00, the Public Relations Center of the FSB of the Russian Federation announced that evidence of a provocation by Ukraine would be made public in the near future.
“There is irrefutable evidence of the preparation and conduct of a provocation by Kiev by the Ukrainian Navy in the Black Sea water area. These materials will soon be made public, ”the FSB’s DSP said.
The FSB later reported that three Ukrainian ships that had entered Russia’s territorial waters had been detained. With the aim of forcibly stopping the ships, weapons were used.
Maritime Law
In accordance with the norms of international maritime law, Ukrainian ships can make innocent passage through the territorial sea of the Russian Federation, of which the Kerch Strait is a part. Ships have the right to pass from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea, which is the sea of two states, but their passage must be continuous and fast.Ukrainian ships can stop if a breakdown is discovered or “other force majeure” is involved. The Ukrainian side did not voice such reasons. A passage is peaceful if it does not compromise the security of the coastal state. In addition, any maneuvers, exercises with weapons of any kind and the collection of information are prohibited, Professor Kamil Bekyashev, chief researcher at the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained to Izvestia.
“Judging by the reports, Ukrainian ships were making maneuvers around the ships docked in the Kerch Strait,” Kamil Bekyashev told Izvestia.- I see in their actions a violation of international maritime law, since they did not fulfill the requirements of innocent passage: to go quickly and without stopping. In this situation, Russia had every right to use force. And in the event that a shot is fired from the Ukrainian side, Russian border guards and sailors can immediately destroy the violator.
Kerch Strait

According to the expert, the Russian government should at least send a note to Ukraine with a claim for violation of international maritime law and Russian legislation.
“Russia has significant forces to destroy Ukrainian armored boats in a matter of seconds,” noted military historian Dmitry Boltenkov. – Even the firepower of patrol ships and coast guard boats of the FSB will be enough for the eyes. Not to mention the Russian Navy. The military has a powerful aviation and naval force in the Crimea.
Tough but neat
The provocation was originally designed for a tough reaction, said Franz Klintsevich, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security.
– Everything now depends on our reaction. We need tough diplomatic warnings, but we need to be careful with our actions, the senator said.

“The provocation has been preparing for a long time, and this is not the last stage of escalating confrontation in Russian-Ukrainian relations,” Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea (RK) under the President of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia.
The presidential elections in Ukraine are approaching and the positions of the current head of state Petro Poroshenko are rather weak in them, he recalled.
“He feels it and is trying to create an environment in which, as he thinks, it will be easier to win the votes of Ukrainian voters,” said Georgy Muradov. – This line is supported by the western curators of Ukraine and was obviously initiated by them. They do not need, God forbid, a situation of appeasement in Russian-Ukrainian relations. And a candidate who was not too pleasing to the West came to power.
History of the confrontation
In September, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) decided to strengthen the group of forces in the Azov direction. For this, three armored artillery boats were sent to the region. Moreover, the ships were transferred to Berdyansk not by sea, but by land. So, one of the armored boats arrived at the port on a cargo trailer. These boats are by far the most powerful combat units in Azov.
In September, Ukraine continued to build up its naval grouping in the Sea of Azov. On September 20, “Donbass” and “Korets” left the Western Naval Base of the Ukrainian Navy in Odessa and two days later passed under the arches of the Crimean Bridge. At a safe distance, they were accompanied by the coast guard of the Russian FSB border service.
On September 14, an incident occurred in the Dolzhanskaya Spit area between the boats of Russian and Ukrainian border guards. According to the official Kiev, the Russian high-speed ship began to make dangerous maneuvers. In the video presented by the Ukrainians as evidence, the Russian “Mongoose”, at a decent distance and at high speed, overtook the boat of the Ukrainian border guards.
Izvestia’s reference
The Izumrud border patrol ship was manufactured at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg. It became the first ship of the second rank in the coast guard of the FSB of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea, before that the border was guarded only by boats of the Mongoose project with a displacement of 28.7 tons. The Izumrud is equipped with a six-barreled artillery mount AK-630 with a caliber of 30 mm and two machine guns ” Cord “with a caliber of 12.7 mm.The ship has a displacement of 630 tons, a speed of 30 knots, and a cruising range of 3.5 thousand miles.
Border patrol ship Don was built at the Yaroslavl shipyard. Displacement 1620 tons, speed up to 13 knots. Armed with 30-mm six-barreled automatic shipborne artillery mounts AK-306.
Ukrainian “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol” belong to the small armored artillery boats of project 58150 “Gyurza”. Displacement 50.7 tons, speed up to 28 knots.Armament – 30-mm automatic cannon ZTM1, 30-mm automatic grenade launcher and 7.62-mm machine gun KT, as well as two ATGM “Barrier” with a laser guidance system. The tug “Yany Kapu” (until 2016 “Krasnoperekopsk”) of project 498 was built in 1974 at the Gorokhovets shipyard. Displacement 303 tons, speed 11.4 knots.

Industry standards, codes of practice, training, inspections and operating procedures such as regulations have become part of the safe design, construction and operation of LNG terminals and ships.
LNG terminals and ships have multiple levels of protection. For example, LNG ships are double skinned with two layers of steel and are equipped with gas detectors and a security alert system. Golden Pass LNG terminals employ two independent levels of containment policy, including an inner steel tank and a thick reinforced concrete outer shell. The terminal’s tank storage is surrounded by berms to provide another layer of protection in the event of an unwanted leak.
