Carpet Sweeper – History of the Cleaning of Carpets

Before Industrial Revolutions most houses had wooden (or stone) floors that could be cleaned with brooms. When carpets and rugs became more affordable more
people started having them in their houses. When it was time to clean carpets, people would hang them outside and beat them with carpet beaters but this
method wasn’t very practical. New one had to be invented.

Carpet sweeper is a mechanical apparatus that consists of a box, wheels, handle and rollers with brushes. It is used, as its name suggests, for cleaning
carpets. They appeared before vacuum cleaners become common household appliances and were very popular until then. Today, they are used in places that
require keeping the environment quiet or that have no electric power supply.

Inventor of a carpet sweeper was one Melville R. Bissell from Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States, and he designed it in 1876. He and his wife Anna held
a small crockery shop and because crockery (tableware) is packed in wooden boxes and sawdust, their show always had sawdust that had to be cleaned at the
end of the work day. Sawdust had an annoying characteristic to embed into the carpet and to be hard to clean with a standard broom. This frustrated Anna so
she told about the problem to her husband. He, being mechanically inclined, built her a carpet sweeper. He made it as a wooden box that is open at the
bottom and that has wheels that carry the box when it is pushed with a long handle. These wheels are connected to the roller that has brushes and, while
rotating, cleans the surface over which it is pushed. Collected dust ends up in a container which has to be emptied when filled. Melville’s sweeper worked
very well and others soon found about it and wanted one for themselves. Melville and Anna grabbed the marketing opportunity and started producing them
after Melville patented it the same year he invented it. They started small. Brushes were made local women in their homes, and then complete sweepers were
assembled in a room above the store by Melville and Anna. They also sold sweepers alone. They would load their buggy with carpet sweepers and sold them by
walking from door to door, Melville selling them on one side of the street and Anna on the other.

Others also tried to make and sell their own variants of Melville’s sweepers (which he called “Grand Rapids”) but they made them heavier, they could not
work on uneven floors like “Grand Rapids” did, and created a cloud of dust when cleaning. Melville’s and Anna’s business worked so well that they opened
their first plant for manufacturing of carpet sweepers, called BISSELL, in 1883.

Melville died in 1889 and his wife Anna Bissell took control of the company and started leading the business, which makes her the first female corporate
CEO in United States. And she was very good at her job. She defended the company’s patents and expanded her business to all parts of the world. She was at
the helm of the firm until she died in 1934, at age 87. BISSELL still exists today and it is still in the hands of a Bissell family and it still
manufactures electric and mechanical cleaning solutions. In the 1960s they developed the first combination of a vacuum cleaner and a floor scrubber, and
they made the Gemini Sweeper, the first two-brush sweeper. In the late 1980s, they made first deep cleaner that no longer needed to be connected to a water
source in the house. They called it Big Green Clean Machine but is also known as “Big Daddy.”

Virginia Tech Investigates Vacuum Technology To Control Insects In Wood | VTx

Virginia Tech wood scientists hope that their vacuum-drying project will benefit wood pallet and container manufacturers and hardwood sawmill businesses not only in the state but across the nation.

“The vacuum controlling system eliminates the need for a heating system, saves energy, and does not release ozone-depleting chemicals into the earth’s atmosphere,” says Zhangjjng Chen, one the researchers working on the project at the Center for Unit Load and Design in the wood science and forest products department of Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources.

“Plant sanitary measures currently require that wood pallets and containers which pack goods that are imported or exported should be heat-treated or fumigated,” Chen explains. In response to these requirements, the Center for Unit Load and Design is developing the basis for vacuum control of insects in solid wood packaging materials, which would serve as an alternative to the current method of eliminating insects in wood.

Chen and his research partners project that low pressure, achieved by applying a vacuum to a system, will create an environment sufficiently low in oxygen that will eliminate the insects in several hours to days. Their research data indicates that there may be an opportunity to apply this technology to eliminate insects in wood.

The material being tested is freshly cut red oak. Larvae of the longhorn beetle, Hylotrupes bajulus, will be used for all of the evaluations and will serve as a substitute for the Asian Longhorn Beetle, Anoplophora glabripennis because life stages are approximately the same. Experts believe the Asian Longhorn Beetle was introduced in America via infested shipping materials.

Principal investigators responsible for the vacuum control project include Virginia Tech’s wood science and forest products research specialist Zhangjjng Chen, professor Marshall White, along with entomologist professor William H. Robinson. Chen and White work with the wood and moisture relationship that occurs in vacuum drying. Robinson is an entomologist, who has extensive knowledge on wood insects.

An Open Letter to Hokie Nation

Dear Fellow Hokies and Hokie Fans,

The 2020 football season is pretty much over. We are awaiting the potential of a bid to a post season bowl game. The number of bowls is rapidly shrinking and the surviving committees have nixed the win/loss requirements for appearances. The ACC has a shrinking pool of available bowls, but also a shrinking pool of teams who are willing to prep for and play in the games. Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Boston College have all taken their names out of the bowl pick hat. That’s interesting news and might very well be the subject of some discussion (at the time of this writing Whit Babcock had not received a final determination from the team).

The team is the point of this letter. Last evening there were some very reliable stories that there is no move being made to replace Justin Fuente as the Head Coach of the Virginia Tech Football Program. The people who offered up the stories, late last evening, are of the sourcing that mean the unofficial channels from within the Athletic Department, itself. So, Justin Fuente stays a Hokie, and Hokie Nation has to deal with that reality.

Bryan has given us his perspective on the issue.

It’s time for me to offer up mine. If you hadn’t noticed from my Open Letter to Fuente, and my Memo to Whit, I was suspecting that this course of action would be the one taken. If the current situation is the choice, that there were certain things that had to be accomplished to improve the situation.

It’s time to talk, folks. Some of you will be spitting mad. There was enough poison gas being blown around to kill off half the bugs and vermin in Virginia, before this “non-decision” was taken. Now, the disappointment and anger from that group of fans will be palpable and long lasting. Most of you have been agitating for Fuente’s dismissal since the 2018 season went into the trash bin. There are some lessons to be learned, here, and one of them might just be that negativity gets immediate attention; but the long-term effects wear off and eventually are ignored. Most folks want to be happy fans and are fine with the status quo ante. Of course, you same folks will be calling for Whit’s head, too, soon so you are unlikely to have much influence as the years progress.

Everybody needs to understand that 2020 is different than collegiate fandom has encountered. The gratuitous dismissal of the COVID wrecked season, and the nearly random ill effects that the pandemic and response to it have had on the team (and many other teams) is now being denied as just more anger and negativity. The COVID virus, response, and regulations had a definite palpable effect on nearly every aspect of the football program. Players were isolated, quarantined, and tested repeatedly. The public reports note that most had gotten the virus and recovered. The isolations were not only from the team to families and friends but within squads on the team. Practices were often piecemeal and the entire practice schedule was set to near zero from February (Normal Spring start) until August. That developmental period was left in the trash bin and the results showed on both sides of the line of scrimmage; especially the defense with its brand-new staff, and underdeveloped players. The cumulative effects on the program cannot reasonably be ignored. It’s not an excuse any more than breathing in a vacuum is just an excuse for asphyxia.

Look, college athletics are changing, and Athletic Departments are being forced to change, too. It is very important to remember that the end of the old personnel functions in college football is ending. The Transfer Portal is changing. Immediate eligibility is going to drive a change in program loyalty. There is also the new problem of the Name, Image, and Likeness rules further warping the way recruiting is done and players are retained. It’s a new world that is going to drive different methods of recruiting, and certainly change the result and retention issue.

Money has been an issue. We were low on the cash flowchart even within the ACC. Running away is not going to help the situation. The current cuts are going to be difficult to deal with. It’s going to be a different ACC over the next few years.

So, there are going to be some serious choices being made. The ACC is a much bigger basketball league than it is a football conference. It’s also a premier baseball and softball conference. The Track Team keeps winning and competing. The AD has more than just football to be concerned about.

My surmise is that Justin Fuente will be here until his contract expires in 2024, unless he decides to leave on his own. I would suspect if he can get his image and community connection problems fixed, he might just be there for longer. Will things get better? Maybe, maybe not. Will we ever get to a national championship? Unless this fan base generates the money enough to get us financially out of Program Twilight, and those scarce funds are going to keep us there. Will we compete for the ACC Championship? In some years, yes, certainly. Until Clemson either collapses or moves on to the Big 10 or SEC, we might pick off one or two; but the ACC is too out of balance to more than scare them a bit now and then. It sounds as if the Athletic Director is looking at making some positive changes but maybe Hokie Nation could make some, too.

Watch this, and then think about it. Justin Fuente isn’t perfect, but Ut Prosim isn’t about perfect it’s about doing your best and working to get better in service to others.

We shall see where this all goes. I will leave you with this. It’s time to ask ourselves a critical question. Is collegiate football about providing scholarship opportunities for student athletes to further their educations or is it all just about wins and losses? I would hope that we all concentrate on the former, and realize that the latter is actually not the point in all of this.

Hokies Enter Bizzaro World Against Duke

For one day, Virginia Tech fans found out what it would be like to play college football the way it’s played in today’s world. For one day, it was Bryan Stinespring’s offense that shined and Bud Foster’s defense that struggled against a weaker opponent. So how did that feel?

Saturday’s game against Duke is the way fans of other teams experience the oblong on Saturday’s in the fall. It’s a world of big-play offenses and big-play defenses where sometimes you just aren’t able to blow out teams you’re supposed to blow out.

Tyrod Taylor threw for a career-high 327 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Hokies offense against a Blue Devil defense hell-bent on stuffing the run. The traditional run game was stymied and Ryan Williams wasn’t able to find space to run or cut-back lanes. Instead, Taylor and the Hokie receivers took to the air and put up big numbers.

But the same happened when the Hokie defense was on the field. Duke (Duke? Duke. Duke!) had 397 yards of total offense, including pass plays of 77, 55 and 48 yards. For the second consecutive year, the Blue Devils would have beaten Virginia Tech if they had anything resembling an offensive line.

If you look at the Duke game in a vacuum, it makes the Hokies seem like a lot of teams around the country. Their offense was able to put up big numbers, but their defense was susceptible to big plays through the air. For one game, Stinespring looked like the genius coordinator and Foster looked like the one set to be run out of town on a rail. I wonder how Tech fans would react if every game was like that. If we were more Texas Tech than Virginia Tech.

When you have a quick-strike, big play offense, you’re probably not going to have the type of crushing defense the Hokies have. When the offense isn’t on the field very long, the defense has less time to rest and less time to learn and adjust to what the opposing offense is doing. It’s give and take and it certainly isn’t what Hokie fans are used to.

So for one game, we were like the rest of the country. We saw yards, points and missed assignments galore. We saw a lot of things go right on offense and a lot of things that need to be fixed on defense before we face a very good Boston College team. We saw a lesser opponent match us stride for stride. For one week we were normal.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather go back to playing our style of football. It’s not pretty, but it makes me less of a nervous wreck. After experiencing it against Duke, I’m not a fan of how fans of normal teams live.

Hokie Lax Hoedown: Sights Set on SoCal

The Virginia Tech Hokies opened up their 2015 SELC Tournament with a matchup against the Florida Gators. This was a rematch of the SELC Semifinal last season where Hokie lax won 10-4.

The Hokies knew this was their first step to punching their ticket to California and that the Gators would certainly give them their best effort.

The first quarter was very slow as the Hokies looked a little bit sluggish. It may have been due to the 7-hour bus ride, but the Hokies were not there to make excuses. Alex Clough recorded the only Hokie goal in the first quarter and the Gators knotted it up at 1 late in the first. The first quarter ended with a score of 1-1.

The second quarter was much better for the Hokies as they were able to get into more of a rhythm on offense. Alex Clough ripped another one top shelf to get the Hokies going in the second, followed by a nice lefty shot by Ryan Palompo to make the score 3-1. Conrad Unterkofler and Ian Quinn rounded off the first half with two more goals for the Hokies to make the score 5-1 at the break.

On a day where the offense struggled for the Hokies, the defense was stellar. The Hokies defense completely shut down the Gators holding them to only 7 shots in the game, while Bryan Cooper made 6 saves on the day.

The Hokies offense continued to struggle and not show much urgency with a 5-1 lead. Joe Rittenhouse got on the board for the Hokies early in the third quarter to make it 6-1, but that was followed by another 9 minutes of scoreless play by both teams.

Alex Clough tallied to open the 4th quarter and complete his hat-trick as the Hokies gradually started to build a comfortable lead. The Hokies scored two more and cruised to a 9-1 victory.

While Clough did record a hat-trick on the day, the real story was the defense. Long-stick middie was a vacuum as usual for the Hokies and scooped up 6 ground balls to help the Hokies control tempo. Westfall has really stepped up for the Hokies this year and earned 1st Team All-Conference Honors because of his strong play.

All three starting defenseman Brett Gallahan, Andrew Baird, and Steve Dailey also dominated their match-ups, with the only goal given up a result of a back-door cut and ball-watching by the Hokies.

Despite the loss, face-off man Aaron Silcott showed why he has been an All-Conference performer for the past two years as he won 8-14 at the X to keep the Gators competitive.

It was not the prettiest performance for the Hokies, but it got the job done, and they were already looking forward to their next game against Georgia as the final whistle sounded. Georgia advanced to the SELC Semifinals with a 7-6 win over 1-seed South Carolina and riding a lot of momentum coming into the match-up with the Hokies.

Virginia Tech 13, Georgia 3

Virginia Tech came into Saturday’s semifinal contest with Georgia determined to play better after a sluggish effort on Friday. Georgia had been a solid team all season and came in with a record of 11-2 with only losses coming to Georgia Tech and Liberty.

The Hokies thought that if they were able to come out of the gate fast that they could put away the Bulldogs early.

Alex Clough got the scoring started for the Hokies with a top-corner rip. Tim Nordbrook was next with a sweet dodge from the wing and a slick finish on the crease to put the Hokies up 2-0. The Hokies then took advantage of a Georgia penalty and Sam Bateman finished an easy dunk on the crease off of a nice dish from Jack Keller to make it 3-0.

The Bulldogs got on the board late in the first on a nice back-door cut and finish but Kyle Mancini answered right back for the Hokies to make it 4-1 at the end of the first.

Bogdan Dragacevac then executed a nice pinch and pop and snuck in a bounce shot on the run to make it 5-1 early in the second quarter. Dragacevac was solid as usual for the Hokies winning 12-19 face-offs on the game.

At this point the Hokies started to run away with the game as the offense found its stride. Joe Rittenhouse finished on the crease for the Hokies to make it 6-1, followed by a nice topside dodge and top-corner rip from Ian Quinn to make it 7-1. The Hokies went into halftime with a commanding 8-2 advantage.

In the second half, the Hokies immediately picked up where they left off. Joe Rittenhouse again found open space on the crease and cashed in off of a nice dish from Kyle Mancini to make it 9-2.

The Hokies kept rolling along and held the lead 11-2 after the third quarter. Wian Coetzer and Bobby Ross got on the board in the fourth quarter for the Hokies and they cruised to a 13-3 victory.

The offensive performance was much better for the Hokies in this game, and the defense again held strong. Bryan Cooper made 8 saves on 10 shots to lead the Hokies defense while Kyle Mancini recorded 2 goals and 2 assists to lead the offense in the victory.

This was a critical victory for the Hokies as they moved into the SELC Championship game, just one game away from punching a ticket to California.

The Hokies then sat back and relaxed to watch an exciting battle between Georgia Tech and Liberty to see who they would meet in the SELC Championship game.

Virginia Tech 10, Georgia Tech 4

Sunday’s SELC Championship matched up two undefeated top 10 teams in the MCLA. Georgia Tech came into the game with a victory over NC State on Friday 9-5 and a tough victory over Liberty 9-7 on Saturday. The Virginia Tech Hokies did not struggle too much in the first two rounds of the SELC Tournament and were able to beat Florida by a score of 9-1 and Georgia 13-3.

Coming into Sunday’s matchup, the Hokies were ranked #9 in the MCLA National poll with a record of 15-0 while Georgia Tech was ranked #6 in the MCLA poll with a record of 16-0. The matchup was also a rematch of last year’s first round game of the SELC Tournament, where the Yellow Jackets pushed Virginia Tech right to the brink of elimination before the Hokies were able to escape with a 9-7 win.

There was certainly a lot on the line in Sunday’s game besides just an SELC Championship; the winner would also have a guaranteed ticket to the MCLA National Tournament in Irvine, California, and would likely land a top-8 seed. The loser would have to anxiously wait for Selection Sunday to see whether they are in the field as an at-large or not.

Both teams came out in the first quarter with strong defensive stops and limited scoring opportunities. Whenever the Hokies needed an offensive spark over the weekend it came from midfielder Conrad Unterkofler. With both offenses stalled, Unterkofler jumped in front of a Georgia Tech pass and took it the length of the field to score and put the Hokies up 1-0.

Georgia Tech answered with a nice skip pass up top and a nifty shot by midfielder Ben Mertz. Midfielder Tim Nordbrook answered right back for the Hokies with a rip from outside off of a nice assist by Ian Quinn. The Hokies ended the first quarter with a 2-1 lead.

Georgia Tech started the second quarter with a man advantage but the Hokies man-down defense held strong and got a big save from Bryan Cooper to weather the storm. The Hokies answered with a great methodical possession controlling the ball and continually peppering shots at Georgia Tech goalie Matthew Sommerfeldt.

The Hokies were finally to break down the Jackets defense as Conrad Unterkofler rolled back to his left to bounce one top shelf to put the Hokies up 3-1.

Georgia Tech’s Holland Frost then did his best Dwight Howard impression backing down the Virginia Tech defense and ripping a shot past Cooper to pull the Jackets within one goal at 3-2.

Long-stick midfielder Thomas Westfall continued his great wing play snagging a ground ball and hitting Joe Rittenhouse on the crease for an easy dip and dunk to put the Hokies up 4-2. The defenses were strong for the remainder of the half and the Hokies led 4-2 after the first 30 minutes.
With a really tight game at the half, both teams knew a fast start to the third quarter was essential. Thomas Westfall again was able to vacuum up the first ground ball of the second half and the Hokies were ready to capitalize. Midfielder Ryan Palompo took advantage of a short-stick match-up on an invert from behind the cage and ripped one past Sommerfeldt to put the Hokies up 5-2.

The Jackets then took advantage of a quick whistle on a Hokies turnover as Freshman attackman Adrian Franzone was able to finish on the fast break. The Jackets kept the momentum going as Chris Obrien hit Franzone on the crease for a goal to make it 5-4.

From this moment, the Hokies turned it on and gradually took over the game with great defense and ball control. Conrad Unterkofler was again the catalyst with a great dish to Kyle Mancini who ripped a jump shot top-left by Sommerfeldt to make it 6-4.

Goalie Matthew Sommerfeldt was very strong in cage for the Jackets, keeping them in reach for most of the game with 10 saves. Adrian Franzone led the Georgia Tech offense with 2 goals and 1 assist.

Conrad Unterkofler led the way for the Hokies offense tallying a hat-trick to go along with two assists. Bryan Cooper was a wall in cage making 11 saves in the victory. Conrad’s performance earned him Offensive MVP of the tournament while Cooper took home the Defensive MVP of the tournament for the second straight season.

The Hokies now have a week to recover and focus on schoolwork before the MCLA National Tournament on May 11. The Hokies are happy with the 16-0 regular season, but have much bigger goals ahead of them in California.

Before you start

To prepare for a smooth transition:

Make sure the latest version of Windows is installed. Migration Assistant works with Windows 7 and newer.
Make sure you know the name and password of the administrator account on your PC.
Connect your Mac and PC to the same network, such as your home Wi-Fi network. Or plug an Ethernet cable into the ports on your Mac and PC to create a direct network connection. Some Mac models require an Ethernet adapter, such as the Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter or the Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.
If you’re using Microsoft OneDrive on your PC, follow Microsoft’s instructions to uninstall OneDrive before proceeding.You can reinstall OneDrive after the migration is complete.

Then use the Check Disk Utility (chkdsk) on your PC to make sure there is no problem on your Windows hard drive:

Right-click the Start button, then select Run.
Type cmd and press Enter. A command prompt will open.
At the command prompt, type chkdsk and press Enter.
If the utility reports that it has found problems, enter the following, where drive is the letter that represents your Windows boot drive, for example D:

At a command prompt, enter Y , then restart your computer.

How to transfer information from PC to Mac

On your PC, download and install the appropriate Windows Migration Assistant, depending on the version of macOS on your Mac:
Close all open Windows applications.
Open Windows Migration Assistant and click Continue.
Start your Mac. Setup Assistant automatically opens the first time you turn on your Mac.If you’ve already set up your Mac, open the Migration Assistant located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder.

When the same password appears on both computers, click Continue on both PC and Mac.
Your Mac scans the drives on your PC for a list of information to transfer. When the scan is complete, select the information you want to transfer to your Mac and click Continue. Learn about some of the data you can transfer.

You can track your progress and estimated time remaining on both your PC and Mac.They will let you know when the migration is complete.

After data transfer

When the migration is complete, close Windows Migration Assistant on your PC. Then sign in to the new user account on your Mac. The first time you log into a user account transferred from your PC, you will be prompted to set a password. You can use the same password as on your computer, or create a new password.

After you sign in to the user account you transferred, authorize your computer for iTunes Store purchases. It is important to log in before syncing or playing content downloaded from the iTunes Store.

If you have problems moving data

Close all open applications on the computer, then try transferring content again.For example, you can press Alt-Tab to select an open application and then press Alt-F4 to exit it.
If your computer does not appear in Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant on your Mac, make sure the computers are on the same network. You can create a network by connecting a single Ethernet cable between your Mac and PC. If that doesn’t work, check for firewall software on your computer and turn it off. After the migration is complete, you can re-enable the firewall.
If Migration Assistant does not open on your PC, turn off all anti-virus programs on your PC, then try opening Migration Assistant again. After the migration is complete. You can enable this software again.
If you’re still having trouble transferring your information successfully, you can use an external drive or file sharing to manually copy important data to your Mac.

What data can I transfer?

1.Migration Assistant does not support 64-bit versions of Outlook. You can manually migrate mail, contacts, or calendars from Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016 by signing in and manually entering content on your Mac.

2. Migration Assistant only transfers mail or contacts data belonging to the logged on Windows user. To transfer data from a different account, use Migration Assistant again when you are signed in to a different Windows account. Each time you migrate, your Mac creates a new user account.

How to transfer Windows and activate it from an old computer to a new one

If we have an old computer that we don’t use or that no longer works, we can transfer Windows to a new computer and legally install Windows without buying a new license.Of course, as with Microsoft, porting Windows is harder than it should be.

Find your Windows product key

Before transferring Windows to a new computer, we need to know the Windows product key.

Finally, we can get the product key from inside Windows even if the system cannot boot into Windows, provided that the old computer and its hard drive still works.
Find your Windows product key in any version of Windows

Be sure to completely remove Windows from your old PC.

Each Windows license, excluding Volume Licensing, can only be installed on one PC.

After we receive the product key and before transferring Windows to the new PC, we need to make sure that we have completely removed the operating system from the old PC.

If Windows with the same product key is installed on two computers connected to the Internet, it is only a matter of time before the product key appears on the blacklist, and then we will not be able to use it again for a new installation or reinstallation.A blacklisted key is useless.

We can replace Windows with a Linux distribution like Ubuntu on an old PC. Or we can take out the hard drive and use it like an external hard drive in a case.

Transfer Windows to a new PC

Water for the production of pangasius is indeed taken from the Mekong, but the fish does not grow in the river itself, but in specially dug ponds. There it is cleaned and aerated. There are a lot of such ponds.

Like any farm fish, pangasius is fed with special pellets. The granules include fish waste (which is generally normal, because fish in the river and in the sea eats other fish without harm to health), minerals and often waste from the production of sunflower oil (in the common people – cake).At one time, I was pretty surprised when I learned that one of the largest Norwegian companies producing feed for farm fish imports cake (in thousands of tons) from Ukraine.

Unlike Norway and Chile, where feeding is done automatically (or semi-automatically), in Vietnam everything is done manually. Food bags are loaded onto the raft.

Pangasius is a fast growing fish. Unlike salmon, which grows for two or three years from the moment the fry is planted in the water to slaughter, pangasius grows for only six months. After gaining the necessary mass, the fish is removed from the pond and in a specially equipped machine (all this time the fish is in the water into which oxygen is supplied) delivered to the factory.

Almost all operations are performed manually. In this, Vietnamese factories are similar to Chinese ones (unlike Norwegian ones, where almost everything is mechanized).

Specially trained men with knives hammer the pangasius. One injection somewhere under the gills – and the fish dies in a special boiler with chilled water. After that, other specially trained men cut the fish into fillets. Filleting a pound fish takes on average two to three seconds.The head with a ridge is either ground into flour or used to produce the same fish feed.

A rolled strip is the largest piece of abdominal fat, which is wrapped in this way for compactness. Why is the second and not the first in our stores? The answer is simple: because the difference between the first and second product is from sixty cents to a dollar per kilogram. Add here the road, customs clearance, drifts to all state bloodsuckers and you will get the cost price at the exit.And pangasius, both in Russia and in Ukraine, is positioned as a fish for the poor.

Now recommendations.In my opinion, pangasius is no better and no worse than other farm fish. Can I eat it? Can. It is certainly no worse than the same “farm” chicken, which is stuffed with medicines. Personally, I don’t eat it, although I import it. But I don’t eat for another reason: firstly, it is very fatty. Secondly, like any freshwater fish, pangasius has a specific sweetish taste that I don’t like.

If you do decide to eat pangasius, then:

1. never take what you want to take in the first place: fillet.All fillets that are brought to Russia or Ukraine (yes, I think that in Europe too) are injected during production with a special composition. For what? For weight gain, naturally. Manufacturers claim that these chemicals are harmless, but do you want to shove harmless chemicals into yourself, and even for your own money? 2. If you still want to buy pangasius, take a steak or carcass.The production technology is such that it is impossible to inject a carcass or steak. Accordingly, you take the product for the money it costs. When choosing, look at how much ice is on the product: remember again – there are no miracles. The more expensive the fish, the better it is.
