But the team finished the regular season with a pair of Brossois – Quick: the previous goalkeepers flew out due to injuries, but, fortunately, Laurent had recovered by that time, and the Kings legend was traded on the deadline.

To complete the picture, it is worth adding that the main goalkeeper of the 2021/22 model, Robin Lehner, underwent hip surgery in August, and it was clear that he would miss the next season. So, in fact, the Vegas coaching staff has been juggling backups for almost a year – even Patera from Henderson was given an NHL debut.

“I’ve never seen so many goalkeeper injuries, but every new goalkeeper has done well throughout the year. Therefore, we are still in the game, ”Bruck Cassidy was pleasantly surprised by the game of hockey players in such a situation.

And not in vain.

Laurent had a good series with the Winnipeg, but perhaps his injury in the third game with the Edmonton was good for the Knights, because Edin had an absolutely crazy playoff. Hill saved 8.2 goals more than expected in the 2023 Stanley Cup season, according to MoneyPuck.

In addition, Edin won five cup games in a row and equaled the Vegas record – cool, but not exactly unique, the club does not have that much experience. The fact that Hill became the first NHL goaltender with 10 playoff wins and no first-round appearances sounds like something truly historic.

“I’ve been playing like this for a long time. I’m focused on letting the game come to my net, but no matter what happens, I just focus on the next episode. Your calmness also helps your teammates – when they look back at you and see you confident, it helps them stay balanced themselves,” Hill philosophized three years ago.
