Haarlem Campus
An extraordinary life and learning experience
Studying in a former prison.
The site of the former Dome Prison is being transformed into a university campus: a modern and cutting edge learning environment with classrooms, labs, work and meeting areas, a starter incubator, a cinema and the Dome Cafe, into an iconic historical monument.
Proximity to the city center and a green lung around the dome with sun terraces, 240 student studios, a supermarket and a green mobility center complete the building’s ecosystem and invite students to linger and explore.
You will feel energized as you walk into a historic building converted into a think tank full of innovators, researchers and progressive thinkers who come together to create ideas for the future.
Campus life at its best
Our Haarlem campus is much more than just a combination of study, work and life. Haarlem Campus is a community offering many opportunities for collaboration and exchange.
Networking and Activities
Numerous activities, recreational activities and facilities, and collaborative projects on campus ensure social networking and cross-talk opportunities that will help our students build a greater network outside of the classroom.
A vibrant and safe city center location
Short distances within campus and to downtown Haarlem complete a promising ecosystem that provides a high degree of safety, a sense of family, and a meeting point for education and research, knowledge institutions, business and the city .
Housing and Green Mobility
The Dome and its surroundings offer a unique combined living and learning experience through collaborative and individual business and entertainment services. Short distances on campus, as well as bike rentals, make getting around easy and sustainable.
Cycling distance from the sea
Two of the Netherlands’ most famous beaches are easily accessible by bike or 25 minutes by bus from the center of Haarlem.
Zandvoort and Bloemendal are surrounded by wild dunes, and every summer the temperature rises to 32 degrees, which attracts hundreds of locals from all over the country.
This is the perfect place for everyone who needs fresh air, a change of perspective and refilling with new energy and creativity.
City of Haarlem
Our campus is located in Haarlem, a city with a remarkable history, rich culture, cafes, shops, restaurants and nightlife. In addition, home to some of the Netherlands’ best museums and world-famous art, it is regularly ranked as one of the country’s best shopping cities. Its own vibrant pulse, created by historic waterways, cobbled streets and ancient buildings, provides true inspiration and top-notch entertainment.
In addition, the cultural charm of the historic city, its proximity and frequent trains to Amsterdam offer space for economic innovation as well as entrepreneurial vision. Especially businesses in promising sectors, including young digital businesses, creative manufacturing, the circular economy, and life sciences and health care, have found their way to Haarlem, creating a hub for highly educated professionals and entrepreneurs.
Just a stone’s throw from Amsterdam
Living in Haarlem has many advantages.
The city enchants with beautiful canals, a lively community and beaches just around the corner. Another decisive advantage of Haarlem is its proximity to the heart of the Netherlands – Amsterdam.
