We continue to tell you about how the digitalization of production at LocoTech Group is going. The dynamic development of the company, new economic realities, as well as the ambitious goals facing the LocoTech Group of Companies, have created a need to automate the processes of servicing locomotives.
To solve this problem, an automated control system “Network Schedule” (ACS SG) was created and implemented. The decision to create the system was made in 2016, at the same time a pilot project was launched at one of the service enterprises in Tyumen. Then five more sites joined. Since 2019, the SG automated control system has been fully operational in all service locomotive depots. Specialists of the LocoTech Group of Companies continue to adapt its elements to the specifics of the work of enterprises. Diagnostics of the technical condition of the locomotive is the first and perhaps the most important stage of service maintenance. Today, more than 8 thousand sections serviced by the company are equipped with on-board microprocessor control systems (MCS) and diagnostics, which monitor the state of the machine during operation and accumulate information for further processing.
When such a locomotive comes in for maintenance, specialists receive a complete set of data on the specifics of its operation. This information can be transmitted via GPRS and Wi-Fi, but is still collected on a flash drive. In the future, as part of the implementation of the Trusted Environment project, locomotives will be equipped with special SIM cards that will be able to transmit telemetry data from on-board LSUs online to a special server.
What technical condition is the machine in, whether the level of maximum permissible operating modes of its components and equipment was exceeded, what other incidents occurred during operation – all these data are collected and transferred to the diagnostic card of the ACS SG program. Specialists carefully study the entire “case history” of the machine and appoint the appropriate service work.
Prior to the introduction of ACS SG, employees collected all important information manually. For each locomotive, for each type of repair, a weighty paper book was started, where a list of cyclic and extra-cyclic works was entered. Comments on the technical condition of the machine were also entered there. The book recorded only the very fact of working out the comments, without comments on the used spare parts, troubleshooting methods and the causes of their occurrence.
“Now we see ways to eliminate each remark, materials, labor costs and a time interval. We can track the entire chain up to a specific contractor and, if a problem arises in further operation, we will promptly identify the cause. Thus, by analyzing the database, we are working to improve the quality of the service service,” explains Ilya Pustovoi, director of the process automation department of the engineering center of the LocoTech Group of Companies.
All SLDs have information terminals with readers. Each locksmith presents his individual smart card, and the terminal gives him a shift-daily task: a list of locomotive sections, a list of tasks from the master. After that, the worker activates the task, completes it, returns to the terminal and marks the completion.
So far, all these communications are carried out through terminals, however, as part of the Digital Depot project, the company is working on the transition to mobile applications. In the future, special software will be installed on the smartphone. The employee will activate an individual card by entering a login and password and monitor all processes. Thus, the time losses for movement will be significantly reduced.
Another advantage of ACS is built-in quality. With its help, the correctness of the actions of the repair personnel is monitored, which ensures high work efficiency.
“We are gradually moving away from the practice of verbal agreements. Now all the rules and regulations are clearly spelled out in the system. For example, setting the maximum percentage of an employee’s output per shift or blocking the appointment of more than 2-3 employees, according to the repair technology,” notes Ilya Pustovoy.
Managing the planning of repair processes is an important component of the effective operation of a service organization. Without a well-established system, it is impossible to form shift-daily tasks, provide personnel with material resources, control the quality of repairs, not to mention long-term planning. Within the framework of these tasks, a very relevant function of the ACS SG is the control of inventory items.
The ability to track the actual consumption of spare parts reduces the cost of logistics, identifies shortages and excess items. This allows you to adjust the supply process in accordance with the real needs of the organization, to eliminate interruptions in spare parts leading to unproductive downtime of the locomotive.
The introduction of ACS SG is already yielding first results. For pilot depots, a decrease in material costs for over-cycle work by more than 20% is recorded. The development and implementation of Built-in Quality features has resulted in a 10-15% reduction in wastage while waiting for service. Also, for pilot SLDs, the time spent by locomotives for repairs decreased by 5–10%.
But experts are not going to stop there. The era of digitalization in LocoTech Group of Companies is just beginning. ACS SG has become a kind of foundation for the introduction of new progressive solutions, which are currently being worked on. Thus, the company plans to introduce BioTime technology with face recognition (such a system is already being implemented in Bratsk). Work is underway on special mobile applications that will allow an employee to work remotely. In addition, projects are being prepared to introduce diagnostic devices in the depot with the function of automatic data transmission.
Progress
A program of technical re-equipment of service locomotive depots will be launched at LocoTech Group of Companies. The task is to introduce digital tools, the latest machines and diagnostic equipment into the technological process. It is planned that this will make it possible to bring the performance and reliability indicators of locomotives to the requirements stated in the technical specifications of manufacturers.
LocoTech Group of Companies has been engaged in the digitalization of technological processes for more than a year. Separate solutions have already been tested within the framework of the Digital Depot and Pit Stop projects and have given positive results. However, such large-scale complex changes take time to implement. Meanwhile, the world is globally digitizing, the market offers manufacturers more and more unique solutions for the digitization of tools and diagnostic devices.
The specialists of the LocoTech Group of Companies have compiled a list of digital equipment (taking into account the technical processes and lists of technological equipment for equipping the SLD), which will ensure the service of locomotives at the most modern level. The work has been carried out on a large scale: the measures were developed on the basis of the design documentation of the locomotive manufacturers with a detailed analysis of the existing inconsistencies, which will make it possible to organize the maintenance of locomotives in accordance with the technical specifications. These steps are being taken as part of the large Digital Railway project implemented by Russian Railways. It involves the total integration of digital solutions into all business and production processes related to the activities of the holding, including in the field of repair and maintenance of locomotives.
In the near future, the depots will be equipped with various kinds of digital tools, thanks to which measurements will be automatically performed, equipment testing will be automated and the results of measurements and diagnostics will be entered into electronic reporting forms for completed technological operations. The readings taken without the influence of the human factor will be checked against the control parameters of the diagnostic card, as a result of which a conclusion will be issued on compliance with the permissible values and the possibility of installation on a locomotive. The main task is to exclude the influence of the human factor on the objectivity of conclusions about the performance of components and assemblies.
In fact, SLD will have to move to a new technological order. The management of the entire locomotive maintenance system will represent one large data set. “In order to achieve the parameters stated in the specifications, first of all, it is necessary to organize an automatic collection of information about the state of the locomotive, its main components, as well as their objective automatic analysis,” says Vladimir Gurbin, director of the department for the development of the production system and technical regulation of the LocoTech Group. – We can receive data from microprocessor control systems of the locomotive, diagnostic equipment, special stands, portable devices, which will allow us to evaluate the resource of components and assemblies without dismantling them. documentation and in combination with diagnostic and measurement data will allow achieving the parameters specified in the technical specifications of the locomotive. 0003
If the collection of information from the microprocessor systems of the locomotive is no longer a new process, then the functionality of the “technical vision” of the depot is yet to be introduced. We are talking about the use of special glasses to control the equipment of the locomotive. With the help of special sensors in the video recording mode, they will allow you to record the data of the main components and parts of the locomotive, from relays to traction transformers. The “technical vision” information will be processed automatically, and based on the results, a conclusion will be formed on the suitability of the locomotive components.
What cannot be diagnosed by “vision” will be tested on test benches. Vibration, electrical, analog signals, response time, algorithm of the devices will be read from the devices. The new bench equipment is now being tested at the Barabinsk depot and helps to evaluate the performance of the equipment of the EP2K series locomotives. The operation of the equipment in test mode began in 2018 and has already made it possible to achieve tangible results.
“The next step is to automate the management of the locomotive repair production system, which will allow, due to the rhythm, to achieve the specified indicators of locomotive downtime in repairs, to incorporate elements of built-in quality into the technological process, and to achieve the ambitious indicators set by the LCC contract,” Vladimir Gurbin is sure.
First of all, technical re-equipment awaits depots specializing in locomotives of the ES5K, ES4K, 2TE25, TEP70 and EP2K series. The program will be rolled out in two phases. To begin with, it is planned to transfer the technological process to digital rails in ten depots, then to cover another 44.
To implement these plans, LocoTech Group of Companies will have to implement a number of tasks. First of all, it is necessary to complete the processing of existing technical processes, obtain design documentation from locomotive manufacturers, taking into account changes to improve the reliability of units. This will make it possible to prepare production for the conditional conversion of the steel gauge to digital. In 1929, using as a pretext the fact of the publication of the novel “We” in one of the foreign publishing houses without the knowledge of the author a few years earlier, Soviet publicists close to the “gangster” literary group RAPP (also known for vicious attacks on Mayakovsky, Yesenin, Bulgakov and others great), launched a real persecution of Evgeny Ivanovich. He was banned from publishing. Unable to withstand the moral pressure, at 1931 Zamyatin went abroad – forever. Moreover, he did not consider himself an emigrant: he lived in Paris under a Soviet passport, in 1934 he joined the Writers’ Union of the USSR in absentia, regularly transferred money to pay for his apartment in Leningrad.

Zamyatin always remained a stranger to conformism – or, as they would say in his time, “agreement.”

Similarly, in 1922, Zamyatin was included in the official “List of the Anti-Soviet Intelligentsia of the City of Petrograd.” The possibility of his expulsion from the country along with a group of cultural figures “hostile” to the new authorities on the infamous “Philosophical steamboat” was considered. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of friends, including Maxim Gorky, Evgeny Ivanovich was able to stay in his homeland. However, his final emigration was only a matter of time.
One State policy – regulation of human intimate life

So the object of the satire of the anti-utopia “We” is not so much the Soviet reality of the era of devastation and civil war (recall the years of the creation of the novel), but rather the technically advanced, but soulless society of Western countries, which the science fiction writer could appreciate from the inside.
The decline of culture is a harbinger of a global crisis
