Reviews
Feedback from the leader of a group of schoolchildren from Kursk
Kaplan Los-Angeles, Whittier College,
Studying in the USA
This summer a group of students from Kursk were lucky enough to study English in the world’s largest center of the entertainment industry – Los Angeles. The KIC language center (Kaplan) is located on the territory of Whittier College, where, in addition to classes, children were actively involved in almost all sports. After the entrance test, all students were assigned to groups in which they studied a foreign language with students from other countries: Brazil, Spain, France, Sweden, etc. In addition to the practice of speaking, reading and writing, the students had creative projects and assignments, during which everyone became friends and received a lot of pleasant impressions.
California is famous for great weather, so during the daytime after class, everyone swam in a huge outdoor pool. America is perhaps the best place to practice… professional shopping, and our students had such an opportunity… In their free time, they watched the latest in the cinema, tried Mexican and American cuisine, saw the performance of the American cheerleading team (an exclusively American sport) .
Our student was lucky to visit America just in time for Independence Day, a national holiday, and they spent it in Disneyland. The trip was remembered, perhaps, for a lifetime, although the whole day flew by like 1 hour. The most famous place in the City of Angels is, of course, Hollywood, where our group went on the first weekend. We visited the Avenue of Stars, the Chinese theater, and, of course, the Kodak Theater, where the Oscars are presented annually. The next day, the group went to Universal Studios, where we were “immersed” in the heart of the film industry. Our students spent the next weekend in Las Vegas, where the road lies through the famous Death Valley. Two days in this unique place had a special effect on the children, and already in the evening of the first day they all spoke exclusively in English.
In three weeks, our students received unforgettable impressions, made foreign friends and received international certificates. It was a great trip!
