Crewsaver Product Warranty and Servicing Guidelines
Crewsaver, a renowned manufacturer of marine safety equipment, adheres to stringent quality control measures in their production processes. Their survival products, being precision-engineered, require regular maintenance and testing to ensure optimal performance during emergencies. To maintain the integrity and functionality of these critical safety devices, Crewsaver has established specific servicing intervals:
- Crewsaver Liferafts: Recommended service every 3 years
- Crewsaver Lifejackets: Recommended annual service
Crewsaver offers an extensive warranty program for their products. Most Crewsaver lifejackets come with a 36-month guarantee from the date of purchase, provided they are serviced according to the company’s recommendations. This warranty excludes the CWX range. For all other products, excluding drysuits, Crewsaver provides a 12-month guarantee from the purchase date.
How can customers initiate a warranty claim? For all warranty returns, customers should contact their place of purchase. To locate the nearest Crewsaver authorized service station, customers can use the company’s online locator tool.
Air Travel with Crewsaver Lifejackets: Essential Information
Traveling with inflatable lifejackets on aircraft can present challenges due to the fitted CO2 gas cylinders. These components are classified under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations and require pre-approval from the airline operator before being allowed on board.
What steps should travelers take when planning to bring a Crewsaver lifejacket on a flight? It is crucial to contact the airline operator in advance of booking or flying to clarify their position on carrying lifejackets equipped with CO2 gas cylinders. This proactive approach can help avoid potential issues at the airport.
Crewsaver lifejackets and their components comply with current legislation as outlined in IATA guidelines. To facilitate the process, Crewsaver provides two important documents that travelers can present to carriers after receiving confirmation that they can bring these products on board:
- A letter of conformity explaining the gas cylinder specifications
- A copy of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
These documents can be downloaded from the Crewsaver website, offering travelers additional support when discussing their lifejacket with airline personnel.

For a comprehensive set of brand guidelines outlining image usage in artwork or promotional material, interested parties should contact the marketing department.
Product Registration Process for Crewsaver Lifejackets and Liferafts
Crewsaver strongly recommends that all inflatable lifejackets and liferafts undergo annual servicing at an approved Crewsaver Service Station. This regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the continued reliability and performance of these vital safety devices.
How does the product registration process work? It’s important to note that each lifejacket and liferaft must be registered separately for the warranty to be valid. This individual registration allows Crewsaver to maintain accurate records of each product and ensure proper warranty coverage.
The registration process typically involves providing details such as:
- Product model and serial number
- Date of purchase
- Owner’s contact information
By registering their products, owners not only activate their warranty but also facilitate easier communication with Crewsaver regarding potential product updates or safety notices.
Crewsaver’s ErgoFit Series: A Range of Advanced Lifejackets
Crewsaver’s ErgoFit series represents a pinnacle in lifejacket design, offering a range of models to suit various marine activities and safety requirements. What are some of the key features that distinguish the ErgoFit series?
- Ergonomic design for enhanced comfort during extended wear
- High buoyancy ratings for use in challenging offshore conditions
- Integrated safety features such as spray hoods and emergency lights
- Options for both automatic and manually activated inflation mechanisms
The ErgoFit series includes several models, each tailored to specific needs:
ErgoFit+ 290N
Available in automatic (9165NBGAP) and Hammar (9165NBGHP) versions, this top-of-the-line model offers maximum buoyancy for extreme conditions.
ErgoFit 290N Extreme
Designed for offshore use, this model comes in automatic (9145-BKAP) and Hammar (9145-BKHP) versions, featuring a harness, light, and hood.
ErgoFit 290N Ocean
Another offshore-oriented model, available in automatic (9135BKAP) and Hammar (9135BKHP) versions, also equipped with a harness, light, and hood.
ErgoFit 190N Offshore and Pro
These models offer a balance of buoyancy and comfort for various offshore activities, available in both automatic and Hammar versions.
How do the automatic and Hammar inflation mechanisms differ? Automatic inflation triggers upon water immersion, while Hammar mechanisms activate based on water pressure, potentially reducing accidental inflation in heavy spray conditions.
Understanding Buoyancy Ratings in Crewsaver Lifejackets
Crewsaver offers lifejackets with different buoyancy ratings, primarily 190N and 290N. What do these ratings mean, and how do they affect the lifejacket’s performance?
The ‘N’ in these ratings stands for Newtons, a unit of force. In the context of lifejackets:
- 190N provides 19.4 kg (42.8 lbs) of buoyancy
- 290N provides 29.6 kg (65.3 lbs) of buoyancy
Higher buoyancy ratings offer increased flotation and turning capacity, which can be crucial in rough sea conditions or when wearing heavy clothing. The 290N models are typically recommended for offshore and extreme conditions, while 190N models are suitable for coastal and offshore use.
What factors should be considered when choosing between 190N and 290N lifejackets?
- Intended use (coastal, offshore, extreme conditions)
- User’s weight and clothing typically worn
- Potential for unconsciousness in the water
- Likelihood of extended wait times for rescue
By understanding these buoyancy ratings, users can make informed decisions about which Crewsaver lifejacket best suits their needs and provides the appropriate level of safety for their marine activities.

- Technicians are trained and certified by Crewsaver
- Use of genuine Crewsaver parts and components
- Adherence to manufacturer’s specifications and procedures
- Maintenance of warranty validity
Authorized service stations have access to the latest technical information, specialized tools, and authentic replacement parts. This ensures that all servicing and repairs meet Crewsaver’s high standards for quality and safety.
What typical services are performed during a lifejacket or liferaft inspection?
- Visual inspection for wear, damage, or deterioration
- Testing of inflation mechanisms and CO2 cylinders
- Inspection and replacement of safety features (lights, whistles, etc.)
- Repacking of liferafts according to manufacturer specifications
- Documentation of service and updates to product records
Regular servicing by authorized stations not only maintains the equipment’s functionality but also provides peace of mind to users, knowing their safety equipment is in optimal condition when needed most.

CARRIAGE OF LIFEJACKETS ON AIRCRAFT
If you are intending to take your Crewsaver Lifejacket with you on board an airplane you may wish to read the following advice to ensure a hassle free journey.
You may not be aware, but travelling with Inflatable Lifejackets on board aircrafts can be difficult due to the fitted CO2 gas cylinders. These are classed under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations and require you to get approval from the operator before taking them on board.
This means that you MUST contact your operator in advance of your flight or booking and clarify with them their position on the carriage of Lifejackets fitted with CO2 gas cylinders.
Crewsaver Lifejackets and their components conform to current legislation as laid out by IATA guidelines. We have provided in this section a letter of conformity explaining about the gas cylinder and copy of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations which can be presented to the carrier following a confirmation that they are happy for you to take these products on board.

The family of a student who returned from the DPRK to the United States refused an autopsy

At the end of February, the North Korean authorities released Otto’s “confession”
The family of an American student, Otto Warmbier, who was serving time in a North Korean prison and died shortly after returning to the United States, refused to perform an autopsy.
Otto Warmbier died on Monday 19 June at his home in Ohio. Prior to that, he spent more than 15 months in detention in the DPRK.
According to the coroner, only an external examination of the body was performed.
The coroner’s statement states that “no conclusions have been reached at this time as to the cause of Otto Warmbier’s death.”
US President Donald Trump condemned the “cruel regime” of North Korea.
North Korea handed over 22-year-old Otto Warmbier to the United States last week, saying it was doing so for “humanitarian reasons.” Warmbier had been in a coma for about a year by this time.
His parents stated that the young man had been subjected to “terrible, agonizing treatment”. As a result, Otto Warmbier, who was sent to prison for trying to steal a campaign poster from a hotel, died at home without regaining consciousness.

Trump stated that “a lot of bad things happened” to Warmbeer, but added, “At least we were able to get him home to his parents, who were so happy to see him despite his very poor condition.”
Otto Warmbier’s parents, Fred and Cindy, reported that their son died at 2:20 pm local time (9:20 pm Moscow time) on Monday at a Cincinnati hospital where he was receiving treatment.
“When Otto returned to Cincinnati on June 13, he could not speak, could not see, could not respond to words. It was obvious that he was very uneasy – that he was almost in pain. Although we did not hear his voice, during the day his expression changed – he was calm. He was at home, and we believe that he felt it, “Otto’s family said in a statement.
