Trump uses broken English to mock Asians, gets laughs
The Donald Trump insult fest is showing no signs of slowing down.
The Republican front-runner mocked Asians with broken English while campaigning Tuesday in Dubuque, Iowa.
As reported by the New York Daily News, Trump said the following:
“Negotiating with Japan, negotiating with China … (he then folded his hands over his middle).
“When these people walk in the room, they don’t say, ‘Oh, hello! How’s the weather? It’s so beautiful outside. Isn’t it lovely? How are the Yankees doing? Oh they’re doing wonderful. Great.”
(He then scowled dramatically.)
“They say, ‘We want deal!'” Trump bellowed.
The crowd erupted with laughter.
Also on Tuesday, Trump succeeded in putting former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, whose wife is Mexican-American, on the defense on immigration issues.
The two quarreled over the term “anchor baby,” which some find an offensive term to describe children born to people in the U.S. illegally. Bush defended himself by saying he’d been referring to wealthy Asians who come to the U.S. to bear children. That earned Bush a chorus of demands for an apology to Asian people.
“Asians are very offended that JEB said that anchor babies applies to them as a way to be more politically correct to Hispanics,” Trump gloated on Twitter. “A mess!”
Trump has repeatedly called Bush “low energy” and suggested “every time you watch him, you fall asleep.”
On Tuesday night, Trump dismissed a Latino reporter from his press conference for demanding to know how Trump intended to deport all 11 million people in the country illegally. “I have a right to ask a question,” said Univision’s Jorge Ramos.
“No you don’t,” Trump said. “You haven’t been called.” Trump merely tossed a glance to his left and a bodyguard escorted a protesting Ramos out.
“Go back to Univision,” Trump told Ramos before letting him back in.

Donald Trump tweets about flag-burning: “There must be consequences”
Donald Trump declared on Twitter Tuesday morning that nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag, and further, he said, there “must be consequences. ”
Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag – if they do, there must be consequences – perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2016
Perhaps offenders should lose their citizenship or serve a year in jail, he proposed.
It’s impossible to say what prompted the tweet, though some wondered whether it had something to do with an early morning television segment that aired around the time of the tweet. It was about veterans who were demonstrating against a school’s decision to stop flying flags, after students had reportedly burned a flag to protest Trump’s victory.Trump on flag burning 08:55
In any case, the Twittersphere was quick to weigh in, with some pointing out flaws in his remedy:
Like it or not, burning the American flag is free speech protected by the First Amendment https://t. co/crIdzDo2EP— ACLU National (@ACLU) November 29, 2016
In 1989, a divided Supreme Court ruled that flag burning is protected by the First Amendment and is not illegal.
That said, there were plenty of people who agreed with Mr. Trump’s sentiment, among them, Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona. He told CNN, “I do not approve of burning the flag. I think there should be some punishment,” although he acknowledged, “The Supreme Court decision is that people are free to express themselves that way.”
McCain, like the Twitter user below, is offended by what burning the flag says to those who risk and give their lives to defend it.
Burnin’ the American flag doesn’t show hate for Trump. It shows disrespect for every man and woman who has given their life defendin’ it.— Cloyd Rivers (@CloydRivers) November 15, 2016
Others, including the National Review’s Charles Cooke, pointed out that Hillary Clinton once cosponsored legislation that would have outlawed flag burning and called for one of the ideas for punishment proposed by Mr. Trump — a year in jail.
One final thing on popularity of anti-flag-burning laws. Hillary Clinton SPONSORED one in 2005 that featured a one-year prison sentence.— Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) November 29, 2016
However, Clinton’s proposal was written to skirt the free speech argument — it targeted cases of destroying a flag with intent to incite violence. The bill was never passed.
The other suggestion Mr. Trump’s tweet – that offenders should lose their citizenship – is also illegal. The government can’t strip the citizenship of U.S. citizens born in the U.S. and its territories, under protections afforded by the Fourteenth Amendment.
But others warn that the flag burning tweets are just a feint, a distraction from questions about his conflicts of interest. Commentary Magazine’s Noah Rothman argued that Trump uses Twitter to get the nation into “familiar fits of emotional pique over settled arguments” — like flag burning — while he “manages to evade broader scrutiny over his complex conflicts of interest, none of which he seems all that eager to resolve and some which could put the country on a collision course toward a constitutional crisis. ”
Rothman pointed out that the tweet, which was published early Tuesday morning, comes on the heels of a story published in Government Executive about Trump’s recently opened Washington, D.C. hotel, which Rothman notes, makes a pretty damning argument that “Trump may have to give it up.”
Government Executive’s Steve Schooner and Daniel Gordon reveal in their story that Mr. Trump’s new hotel presents “intolerable conflicts of interest,” if you read the way the contract with the government is written. The General Services Administration (GSA) contract states, “No … elected official of the Government of the United States … shall be admitted to any share or part of this Lease, or to any benefit that may arise therefrom…”
In other words, the moment Donald Trump is inaugurated as president on Jan. 20, 2017, he will violate the lease. He is the chairman and majority stakeholder of the company which owns the hotel.

Ayrshire Rivers Trust | Cloyntie Burn in the Girvan catchment
Another burn and another culvert that causes problems; the Cloyntie Burn in the Girvan catchment is a tributary of the Burnton Burn, a tributary of the Lady Burn joining the Girvan upstream of Kilkerran.
We survey this burn periodically and have found salmon upstream of the Barndonna Bridge culvert on one previous occasion but in very poor numbers. Today the team surveyed upstream and downstream of the culvert and it would appear that salmon didn’t spawn upstream last year or if they did, we din’t find them. This wasn’t unexpected based on previous findings.
Good habitat and full of trout in the upper reaches of the Cloyntie Burn but not a salmon to be found
We fished two locations upstream and found good numbers of trout in what we consider good to excellent habitat (in moderate to good condition). It is encouraging to find healthy trout populations in some burns as far too many are impacted and poor. We also fished two sites downstream and found salmon at both.
Barndonna Bridge culvert which normally prevents salmon migration
The Barndonna Bridge culvert is slightly perched and undercut with no resting points inside however, it is not entirely impassible, but an obstacle that at certain flows may be passable but that relies on fish arriving at the right time and being in a condition that allows them to run it. Tired backend fish may struggle but really, there are too many uncertainties to view this as a passable culvert and with missing species and year classes upstream, we are going to ask SEPA to add it to the barriers list and try to promote it in terms of requiring work when the next opportunity arises. This means that the Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be asked to prioritise it for easement when they next plan works to the culvert…but that could be 10 years or more away.
Considering how effective our newly developed baffle system appears to be at slowing flows and deepening the water, I think this culvert would benefit from ART’s attention. We will attempt to find funding and ease this obstacle asap. Another benefit of our baffles are that they are extremely cost effective when compared to the closest comparable systems imported from New Zealand and as we are geared up for installations, we can take care of everything from design and drawings, obtaining licenses and permission to manufacturing baffles and installation using our own staff. From concept to installation we estimate 4 -5 months max depending on the season work in-stream over spawning is to be avoided). Therefore, with any luck, we will attempt to fund and deliver improvements next season unless Ayrshire Roads Alliance can do so before us.
Fencing in need of repair but good habitat and worth protecting and developing
There are areas on the Cloyntie Burn that may benefit from fence repairs and others that require trees. We will see what we can do to build a project to improve this burn along its length and then look to funders for support. That’s not an easy task at the moment as most funding has been channeled to communities die to hardships created by Covid 19. There are other burns in the Girvan requiring assistance such as the Dyrock that has been so badly polluted just 2 weeks ago and the Barlewan that has historic modifications that limit productivity. No shortage of improvements to be made but a distinct shortage of cash funding available for any restoration works.
The lower section of burn has been historically straightened and latterly fenced but with narrow buffers like these, I doubt the fence will last too long as the brin continues to revert back to a more meandering state. Larger buffers may take land out of production but at least it should survive for more than a few years. Trees and perhaps some green engineering may help stabilise the burn and protect the fence.
Adana – last minute tours from Samara for 2021
At 50 km from the seashore, on the Seyhan River, is Adana, the administrative center of the Adana region. At the end of the 19th century, the population of the city was about 24 thousand inhabitants, mainly Turks, as well as Greeks and Armenians. The city was the guardian of the Taurus passages and was on the way between Syria and Asia Minor. In those days, it was the center of trade, due to its location on the banks of a deep river, so loaded ships approached the city itself.
Today the city of Adana has become a large industrial center with a developed textile, chemical and food industries. There is also a subway. It is the 4th largest Turkish city, the most important city in Cilicia, and the largest transport hub. There used to be a swampy area where malaria constantly flared up. But the swamps were drained, and a large reservoir was created in the Ceyhan river basin. Cotton, citrus fruits, tobacco, vegetables, bananas, flax and sesame are grown on the lands formed as a result of these activities.
Adana is the fourth largest and most important city in Turkey. The city is almost visually divided into an old part with mosques, noisy bazaars and hotels, and a modern, active Europeanized “new city”.

The confluence of the Mammoth and the Shrenk rivers. It was expected that from this place we would freely go further on the motor, and, finally, the heroic overcoming of rifts and shallow waters on laden boats would end. Still, the Mammoth River is a tributary of a larger river. But Schrenk turned out to be even shallower. All that was left was to be glad that we had changed our original plan of transfer to the upper reaches of the Schrenk. It’s hard to imagine what we would do in this case.
A strange formation of dark soil on the banks of the river turned out to be a kind of salt lick. Apparently, a few tens or even hundreds of thousands of years ago, the sea was splashing here. This soil is literally saturated with salt. The reindeer literally ate the mound on both sides, and such a ridge with a height of 5-7 meters was formed. The width of the ridge in the upper part is slightly larger than the foot, in the middle part it is about a meter.
Here is its foot. Whitish coating – crystallized salt.
In addition to reindeer, small herds of musk oxen roam the expanses of the Taimyr tundra. There were especially many of them on the Shrenk River. Probably, this landscape looked almost the same 30,000 years ago, when real mammoths walked along the same hills, the tusks and bones of which are still carried by the river to the shallow pebbles of the rifts.
You experience an amazing sensation watching musk oxen graze on the open tundra: from time to time it rains, a gusty wind carries low clouds, shaggy mounds slowly walk along the hilly plains with stunted brownish vegetation. The wind blows long locks of their fur, tears off the faded shreds and carries them across the tundra. At first glance, it is impossible to understand where in general is in front, and where is the back of these creatures. All that is missing is the trunk and tusks.
Honestly, hunters are surprising, striving to obtain a license to hunt these animals. A person can certainly scare them and cause the entire herd to flee, but no special skills are needed to approach them openly almost closely. Anyway, this is probably how to kill the last mammoth.
This musk ox walked between the tents of our camp while everyone was asleep. Well, of course – not all … Otherwise, where would these pictures come from!
It quickly became clear that the musk ox passed through our camp quite purposefully, by the shortest route. On the other side of the river, a female was walking along the bank. And, of course, he saw nothing but her!
And then I saw! For a few moments we looked at each other in amazement. I managed to take a few pictures.
The female on the other side turned out to be more attractive!
By the way, this is the same female.
There is something prehistoric in the look of these animals, and indeed in their appearance.
Gradually the herd stopped paying attention to the photographer. You could get very close.
Young generation of musk oxen.
In the literature on Taimyr, there are mentions that somewhere on the Shrenk River there are foci of natural burning of coal. However, the staff of the Great Arctic Reserve, who were part of our expedition, completely rejected the possibility of the existence of such foci. They also had a weighty argument – the results of many years of satellite imagery of the territory of the reserve to identify fire sources. If there was something, then from the images it would be possible to determine the points with a higher temperature. Imagine our amazement when, while rafting down the Shrenk River, shortly before the confluence with the Lower Taimyr, we smelled the smell of coal burning. And after a while, they discovered a vast coastal area literally breathing fire and smoke.
Most of all, it resembles volcanic activity: the hot surface of the earth, fumaroles from which jets of smoke and gases burst out, deposits of sulfur and salts, the gaps from which the burning bowels glow with heat.
The spontaneous combustion of coal can be caused by certain minerals contained in coal-bearing rocks, for example, pyrite, or iron pyrite. The reaction of its oxidation in combination with the organic matter of the host rocks leads to significant heating of the coal strata, and then to spontaneous combustion. Natural spontaneous combustion of coals can be supported by the flow of natural gas from the earth’s interior through cracks in the rocks of the earth’s crust.
Of course, any such fire is a real disaster, as a result of which a huge amount of high-calorific fuel disappears aimlessly. But here, at the end of the earth, this amazing natural phenomenon seems natural. In the book “Sannikov Land” V.A. Obruchev, on which the film of the same name was shot in 1973, it was suggested that that on a secluded island in the Arctic Ocean, once representing the summit and crater of a large volcano, survived, thanks to the residual heat, mammoths and primitive people – the Onkilons, retreated under the pressure of the Chukchi to the islands of the Arctic Ocean.
The first news about the Onkilons was introduced into scientific literature by F.P. Wrangel. According to the legend he recorded, the Onkilons, the seaside inhabitants, were headed by a foreman named Crahoy. On the basis of patrimonial revenge, he had a bloody feud with the head of the Chukchi reindeer. Fleeing from the latter, Krakhoy with a few remnants of the tribe first fortified on the rocks of Cape Severny (now Cape Schmidt), then moved to Shalaurov Island and, finally, on 15 canoes, sailed to the land, the mountains of which are visible in the Arctic Ocean from Cape Yakan, that is, on Wrangel Island. But at the time of the discovery of this island by F.P. Wrangel, no people were there. However, the Chukchi are convinced that the Onkilons existed. In Chukotka, trails and dugouts of the Onkilons are still shown.
It is possible that the legend about the Onkilons is actually connected with this place on Taimyr. And the heat from the burning coal seams really warmed some primitive tribe. Interestingly, in the lower reaches of the Upper Taimyra, archaeologist V.V. Pitulco was found the northernmost site of ancient people over 2000 years old.So in the future, it is possible to find an even more northern site on the Shrenk River.
Coal burning in Taimyr, according to some estimates, has been going on for several centuries. This is evidenced by the old slag outcrops, which stand out sharply in the Taimyr tundra along the Shrenk River with their red-brown color.
Layers of coal along the right bank of the Shrenk River.
Cretaceous period (145 -66 million years ago) on Taimyr, apparently, had a milder climate, more similar to a temperate one.A coniferous forest grew here, its very significant fossil remains are found along the banks of the Taimyr rivers – sometimes whole fragments of trunks. It is interesting that there are small amber deposits in Taimyr. The picture shows a fragment of a fossilized tree trunk about 100 million years old.

From the history of the Burning Mountains
The Burning Mountains are located 350 km upstream of Blagoveshchensk, 35 km from the village of Novovoskresenovka. The area of this geological object is 40 hectares. “Mountains” were known to the Chinese about 300 years ago – their ancient villages come close to the opposite bank of the Amur. Among Russian researchers, Grigory Permikin and Pavel Anosov spoke about this place in the 60s of the 19th century. The description of the steep Amur coast is found in the works of the traveler Fyodor Schmidt.Later, the burning coast was investigated by the mining engineer Pyotr Yavorovsky.
In 1983, the Burning Mountains were recognized as a natural monument of regional importance.
Why the bank of the Amur is on fire
An underground fire spreads along the coast for several kilometers along the Amur. Over the past 136 years, the area of combustion has not changed. Here, brown coal and lignite occur at a depth of 10–15 meters from the surface of the earth. The researchers found that the lignite layer has been forming in the earth since the Mesozoic period. The Amur bed in this place makes a sharp turn, and the river waters wash away the high bank. Here, cliffs with a height of 80 to 120 meters are formed. The loose sandy soil crumbles, exposing the brown coal seam. Brown coal quickly oxidizes in air, heats up and begins to burn, emitting thick smoke. In dry weather it burns with tongues of flame, in rainy weather it smolders.
