How do camps fit into a well-rounded development plan? Camps offer intensive, focused training that can jump-start skill development and introduce new concepts. They’re most effective when combined with consistent practice and game play throughout the year.
Balancing Camp Participation with Other Activities
While camps can be tremendously beneficial, it’s important for young athletes to maintain balance in their lacrosse participation:
- Avoid burnout by mixing lacrosse with other sports and activities
- Ensure adequate rest and recovery time between intense training periods
- Focus on age-appropriate development rather than over-specialization
- Complement physical training with proper nutrition and sleep habits
How many camps should a youth player attend each year? This depends on the individual player’s goals, schedule, and budget, but typically 1-3 camps per off-season is a good target for serious players.
