Lacrosse Arm Pad Sizing Guide & Chart
There are three different styles of arm protection that you have to choose from; arm guards, arm pads, and elbow pads. Before you make your purchase, make sure you take the time to research and understand what you need most in arm protection. Based on the criteria below, you can guarantee that you will make the right decision.
Lacrosse Arm Pads vs Arm Guards vs Elbow Pads
There are three main types of arm protection in lacrosse: Arm Guards, Arm Pads, and Elbow Pads. Each provides a different ratio of protection to mobility. Arm Guards will give you the most protection with the least amount of mobility, arm pads balance their protection and mobility, and elbow pads sacrifice almost all protection for the best mobility and movement.
Lacrosse Arm Guards
Out of the three styles, arm guards will give you the most security. If sized properly, your arm guards should provide maximum arm protection from your upper bicep to your upper wrist. Lacrosse arm guards will always have plastic inserts spread throughout the pad to absorb hard slashes, especially in the elbow region.
Example: STX Cell 4 Lacrosse Arm Guards
Lacrosse Arm Pads
Arm pads will be a little smaller when compared to the traditional arm guards. Arm pads will provide greater flexibility with an ample amount of protection that covers from the mid bicep down to mid forearm. Not all arm pads have plastic inserts, but they will have a variety of dual density foams and shock absorbing materials throughout the pads.
Example: Maverik Max Lacrosse Arm Pads
Lacrosse Elbow Pads
These pads will provide maximum maneuverability given their small structure that covers only the elbow region. If you value comfort with little to no arm restriction then this style is perfect.
Example: Epoch Integra Elite Lacrosse Elbow Pad
Lacrosse Arm Pad Sizing Chart
Different manufactures will have different sizes and fits on their arm protection. However, the below chart is a good frame of reference for what will fit and wear the best in most cases based on the player’s age, weight, and height.
Size | Age (Years) | Weight (lbs.) | Height (in.) |
---|---|---|---|
X-Small | Under 5 | Under 50 | Under 3’4″ |
Small | 5 – 9 | 50 – 80 | 3’4″ – 4’6″ |
Medium | 9 – 13 | 80 – 130 | 4’6″ – 5’6″ |
Large | 13 – 18 | 130 – 180 | 5’6″ – 5’10” |
X-Large | 18+ | 180+ | 5’10” & over |
Features
There are a few key features to consider when looking at buying lacrosse arm protection. Each one is unique in it’s own way and can really help keep the arm protection on or create a more comfortable experience for the player.
Liner
Always look into the specific liner the arm guards/arm pads have. There are a variety of options out there in today’s day and age and they’re all designed around specific needs. Liners today provide certain amenities such as; comfort, anti-odor, moisture wicking, and even help keep the pads from sliding down your arms during play with Rubberized inserts. All these things make a huge difference.
Ventilation
The fastest sport on two feet gets very hot from time to time. In order to keep your body temperature in check, you will need some ventilation features throughout the pads.
Strapping System
Traditionally arm guards and arm pads have been kept in place using elastic Velcro straps. But now there are a variety of different ways to keep your arm guard in place. Manufacturers are using liner sleeves that fit tightly to your arms and keep your pads in place. This is great but over time the elasticity of the sleeve loosens and it could cause your pads to slip unless it has rubberized inserts inside the liner or additional elastic Velcro straps.
Advanced Buying Considerations
Another determining factor in the best arm protection for you is which position you play and how you play it. Below we will discuss all of the different factors that can lead to your best choice of arm protection.
Position
- Attackmen: Generally, attackmen endure the most punishment from the opposition. Attackmen face long pole defensemen on a daily basis, it is recommended to equip arm guards that provide maximum protection.
- Midfielders: Given the versatility of the position, midfielders have been known to wear all three styles of arm protection. With that being said the best overall option for midfielders is to equip themselves with arm pads. Midfielders are not under the same amount of defensive pressure as attackmen so they can afford to give up a little protection and add flexibility.
- Defensemen: For the most part, defensemen are the ones dealing out all the physical abuse and they rarely get slashed on the arms. With that being said, defensemen do have to clear the ball up the field with a disgruntled attackman trying to get the ball back. It is recommended for defensemen to use arm pads, but there are a lot of players who prefer elbow pads in order to get maximum flexibility.
Style of Play
- Possession Players: These Players tend to control the ball more than others and usually have more defensive attention. Possession players ISO dodge to initiate a slide and are known to fend off double teams. This player relies heavily on the roll dodge and uses his body to shield the stick. This style of play makes the player more susceptible to hard stick checks. Possession players will need to acquire Arm Guards unless they can tolerate the inevitable bruising.
- Fast/Finesse players: Heavily favor arm pads due to the fact that they use their speed and agility as their ally. This player is always clearing the ball up the field and dodges to score with space. His game is all about creating space between him and the defensemen with athleticism. More often than not, this player chooses to give up a little protection to enhance natural arm movement to score goals.
Flexibility vs Protection
When choosing arm protection, ask yourself; are you looking for arm pads that provide more flexibility or protection? Some players like a lot of padding, and others like to have little to no arm restriction. With that being said, a lot of the manufacturers like to claim they have the best of both worlds, but truthfully speaking, there is no such thing. Based on your position, style of play, and tolerance of pain you can choose the best arm pads possible.

LUVA ARM PAD WITH LONG SLEEVE
Luva Arm Pad with rigid support and long sleeve
What are the advantages of using it?
The Luva armpad allows a more efficient functioning of the guitarist?s right arm and hand, which will become speedier and more secure, allowing more fluency in moving the fingers, resulting in less tension, a more relaxed right hand, less fatigue and greater playing ease.
How does it work?
The Luva hard – armpad with rigid support – is provided with an inner piece called a pressure distributor, which is its essential part. The pressure distributor has the function to eliminate local pressure of the guitar edge against the forearm, distributing the pressure along almost all of the inner surface of the forearm.
The Luva soft makes use of a rubber layer which allows a soft distribution of the arm pressure against the guitar edge. In this case the localized pressure is not completely eliminated, but softened.
Adaptation phase
The inner splint- the pressure distributor- of the Luva hard has the exact rating of rigidity necessary for its function, for it was tested for a long time with materials of different consistencies and densities. The result is considered ideal.
For the guitarist accustomed to playing without any protection it may require a few days of use to adjust, until he or she gets familiar with the application of the Luva. The insertion of a foam layer of higher density makes the Luva armpad now more comfortable, giving a better feeling.
For the guitarists who have had difficulty in adjusting to the Luva armpad with hard support we recommend using the Luva soft, which gives partial protection to the forearm, with a natural feeling of arm contact with the guitar.
Why was it created?
The Luva armpad was created for the protection of the guitarist?s forearm. When positioning the guitar (classical position), the guitarist normally applies pressure with his right forearm against the guitar?s edge. Thus, the action by the fingers is inhibited: the muscles do not work freely, the blood stream becomes hindered and tension in the forearm is increased.
All prior trials, looking for a solution to the problem of the guitar edge, were focused on building certain accessories to be fixed on the edge itself, trying to make it less sharp. Thus, ? while the edge broadened, the muscles continue to be compressed, – it results in other problems to the guitarist, such as: a) aesthetics, because of the alteration in the instrument?s traditional appearance, and b) stability, because of the means of attachment, like suction cups that could come loose abruptly during a performance.
Medical Appliance
The use of the Luva armpad is highly recommended to:
- Avoid muscles and finger nerve compression
- Prevent calloused tissue formation, maintaining muscular flexibility
- Help in the prevention of lesions, like tendonitis and dystonia

Really shallow mounting holes
Posted by Dan on 26th Jul 2020
Product fits and is as advertised. Nothing special but a good price for a basic armrest that renews the value of my chair.
Only compliant is that the tapped mounting holes are really shallow – only a few turns of thread. Had to get washers for the bolts so that the pad wouldn’t wobble. But with so few threads, I had to careful about the thickness of the washers.
Delivery was much faster than stated. -

Installed the new arm rests a few months ago. The old ones were looking pretty bad. Now the chair looks fine and should be good for a long while. Service and delivery were good.

Good replacement armrest
Posted by Al Hastings on 1st Oct 2019
Exceptionally fast response – had new armrests within three days. Arm rests fit well – however it would be nice if they came with their own screws as the screws I took out did not fit well. I had to kind of strip them to get them tightened down. The armrests are universal (left or right) and have no ‘hollowed out’ spot for your arms and are in fact, convex rather than concaved like the originals. However I got them to fit and they are much better than the broken originals and it’s much cheaper than replacing a chair that I love.

Doesn’t come with bolts

Should come with bolts, but the product is good as stated.

Better than the original
Posted by Unknown on 17th Aug 2019
The original armrests were soft and spongy where the tips were starting to break off. Could not find replacements from the manufacturer. Then I came across “chairpartsonline”. They had exactly what I needed. Fit perfectly and more solid than the original.

Better than the original ones
Posted by Michael Pudetti on 6th Aug 2019
Nice strong arm rests. Only issue was that the 5.5″ screw holes didn’t line up and the threads were different than the ones off the chair. I drilled the holes and bought the right screws. All good.

90,000 Struggle for armrests in the most uncomfortable seat on the plane
Photo author, Thinkstock
Which passenger has the right to the armrests of the middle seat in the aircraft cabin? This burning question was asked by the correspondent of BBC Autos .
While boarding the plane, a man in a solid business suit walked to the end of the cabin and said to a young man sitting in an aisle chair: “Will you change places with me? on a laptop and there isn’t enough space. I’ll pay you $ 100. ”
He held out a crisp bill. The young man happily agreed.
What some air passengers will not do just to avoid the prospect of flying in the middle seat!
In the aircraft cabin, where the passenger seats are combined into sections of three, the passenger in the middle has a hard time – neither the view from the window, nor the unhindered access to the aisle.
Plus, both armrests will probably have to be wrestled with neighbors.
Already in flight, a man who paid a hundred dollars for a seat change said that he regularly pays for the opportunity to change seats with other passengers.
He has to fly a lot for work and often buys tickets at the last moment. The businessman is put on waiting lists, and as a result he often gets the middle seat.
“Even when I have enough time to buy a ticket in advance, sometimes it’s cheaper to pay another passenger for a more comfortable seat than to buy an upgrade from an airline,” he explained.
However, not all of us have extra cash to pay extra for a more convenient seat. And at least a third of passengers will still fly in the middle seat.
Wouldn’t it be fair to give these passengers the right to both armrests as the only bonus available to them?
And what if your neighbors start fighting over these armrests?
Photo author, Thinkstock
Photo caption,Of course, sitting on the edge is much more comfortable – you feel much freer
Fighting for the armrests of the middle seat is a perennial problem for air passengers, says Daniel Post Senning, great-great-great-grandson of American writer Emily Post and co-author 18- The first edition of her famous code of conduct, Etiquette.
From a practical point of view, the right to the armrests of the middle seat should belong to the occupant, Senning notes.
Unfortunately, not everyone knows about this rule, and it does not particularly motivate passengers to choose this seat.
“It seems to me that the armrests that you have to fight with neighbors came up with a man with an unhealthy desire to constantly play passengers against each other,” says Eric Fung, a professional lawyer and director of a supermarket in Minneapolis, USA, who often uses the services of airlines.
Fung flies at least four times a month. And, according to him, some passengers go to great lengths not to end up in the ill-fated middle seat.
Hayley Stainton, a former British Airways flight attendant, tells of a passenger who had a fight with a pregnant neighbor who was sitting in the center chair because she supposedly took up much more space.
After a fierce skirmish, one of the passengers suggested that the pregnant woman change places.
“The flight went smoothly after that,” Stainton says. “I was amazed at how suddenly and quickly that argument broke out. But after checking the passenger list after landing, I found out that the two arguers were actually sisters.”
“And the passenger sitting next to them told me that they agreed to set the stage so that the pregnant sister could be transplanted to a more comfortable place!”
Senning suggests thinking wider and taking into account circumstances: “We are all different in size.Larger people need more space, so it makes sense to be tactful in such cases. This is the reality of our lives. “
So, the etiquette expert believes that the passenger sitting in the center seat has the right to both armrests. And what do the flight attendants think about this?
” I believe that since the passengers sitting in the side seats, have one armrest at their disposal, they are obliged to give up the center armrests to the neighbor sitting in the middle, “says Debbie Ferm, a former flight attendant of the American regional airline Compass Airlines.
“If a passenger in the middle seat wishes to fully lean on one or another armrest during the flight, this is his right.”
Photo author, Thinkstock
Photo caption,For those who are used to working on the road, the middle chair is just a nightmare
Stainton has a different opinion: “I think the neighbors should take the center armrests in turn,” she says.
“If the passenger sitting next to you has a large physique, is much older than you, or is traveling with a child, it is worth giving up the armrest to him as a gesture of goodwill.”
Senning reminds that life is not always fair, and passengers in the middle seat are less fortunate. It makes sense to try to come to a consensus with your neighbors.
“To avoid the struggle for the armrest, I am proposing a compromise solution – to occupy different parts of it,” says Fung.
“For example, I keep the back, and the passenger next to me uses the front.”
Nonetheless, Fung admits that the middle seat is still the most uncomfortable.
“For me, flying in this chair means a complete failure of travel preparation,” he says. “I hate it. I choose a seat in the cabin in advance, agree to an upgrade, pay extra – anything, just not to be in the center of the seat.”

- Optional, but convenient: choosing an armrest in a car
An armrest in a car is completely optional, but pleasant and useful. helping to simultaneously increase the level of driver comfort, which is especially important for long trips and car owners who often and a lot travel by car.In general, comfort while driving is now rather an obligatory component of a good car than a kind of “luxury”.
Therefore, the topic of today’s conversation is how to choose a good armrest in a car, and what is worth looking at first.
Why is it needed at all
Let’s start by discussing why a modern driver needs it at all.
Armrest – elbow rest on the right for left-hand drive cars, on the left for right-hand drive cars, on which the hand fits comfortably even when the hand is on the steering wheel. At first it may seem that there is no need for such “excess”, but here are some of the advantages of an armrest in a car:
1) reducing the load on the muscles of the elbow group, back and shoulder girdle. Try to keep your hand in suspension for at least a few minutes in a row – the muscles will quickly get tired, painful sensations will appear, you will want to take your hand off the steering wheel, and this is no longer good. Having a place where you can rest your forearm helps to reduce stress,
2) the appearance of a new place for things and under a glass. The armrest is often equipped with a box and a place for a glass. Just imagine: you leave the house in the morning, you have a thermo mug with you, filled with aromatic freshly brewed coffee. Now, thanks to the armrest, you have a place to put the thermo mug on the way! And do not spill anything.
What is it like, the ideal armrest
It is a rather complex multicomponent structure that has a sliding mechanism: if you fold or slide the armrest, which is usually soft, you will find a box inside where you can load all sorts of useful (literally) little things at hand. There is also a cup holder. Special mounts allow the device to be firmly rooted in the cabin.
Choosing the perfect armrest is easy:
- it should recline to make room in the passenger compartment,
- should not interfere with the free movement and operation of the seat belts,
- should not get in the way of the handbrake,
- should not interfere with the driving process,
- should easily support over a hundred kilograms,
- should be suitable for drivers of all sizes and sizes.
And it must also fit into the interior of the passenger compartment, which is why manufacturers usually provide a large number of options, including models made of leatherette, different colors, etc.
The armrest will undoubtedly make the driving process easier and more enjoyable, but remember that there is nothing more important than safety while driving. If for some reason you become more uncomfortable with the armrest, it is better to refuse it. Although, in our experience, it contributes to a safer driving experience by helping the driver get tired less and better concentrate on the road.
Our suggestions:
Car armrest. Prestige or Necessity? • MonsterAuto.ru
Armrests in cars are a multifunctional design item for the interior of your car. The armrest serves not only to relieve tension from the shoulder muscle group, unload the elbow joint, relieve the feeling of fatigue caused by constant muscle tension, prevent the feeling of “flowing”, but also to store various necessary and not very trifles that constantly “scatter” around the cabin. With the armrest, you will be able to drive for longer without being distracted by discomfort. When you lean on it with your hand, you reduce the load on the spine by redistributing it between your back and elbow.
“Elbow feeling” never hurts
Most often, car armrests for the front seats have a box for storing small items. Such boxes are lined from the inside with fabric or any other noise-absorbing material. This technology prevents unwanted and annoying soundtracks from occurring as a result of moving objects inside the box while your vehicle is in motion.Traditionally, the box cover is the armrest itself; it is sheathed in fabric, natural or artificial leather. The cover can be hinged or sliding, depending on the modification.
Some driver’s armrest models are not equipped with boxes for small items.
Some armrests have a glass holder. It is convenient when a glass of liquid is at your fingertips, and you do not have to be distracted from the road while driving, while simultaneously stretching your hand forward to the dashboard in an attempt to find the glass, or, on the contrary, groping with your hand somewhere behind the seat.
Not a superfluous option in the car
Separately, we will mention the rear armrests. More and more vehicles are fitted with this essential accessory as standard. Such an armrest can have drink holders, a container for small items or a climate control panel.
All materials from which the car armrests are made can withstand a large temperature difference: from -30 to +80 degrees Celsius. Also, the armrests have mechanisms that allow you to adjust the armrest to your height.Car armrests are designed with a load capacity of up to 40 kg.
Even if your car has never had an armrest, having acquired such a necessary and useful thing, you will appreciate all its advantages and wonder how you did without a car armrest before.
