The inspiration for the first collection, born in collaboration between Michael Bastian and Gant, was one of the most spectacular games in the history of sports – Lacrosse. “During one of my long flights, I came across a fascinating article about lacrosse. Lacrosse has always fascinated me, and I really love this game, even if it is not very common in the world,” comments Michael Bastian.
A coherent collection of men’s apparel and accessories that combines the rich history of traditional Gant style with Michael Bastian’s unique fashion vision and expertly crafted elements of lacrosse’s sporty style. The Gant by Michael Bastian collection includes all the wardrobe essentials for the modern man. A shredded military-style pea coat, a short down jacket and a fitted jacket with contrasting patches on the elbows, warm sweaters, a wide selection of fitted shirts, stylish chinos and distressed patched jeans are the highlights of the collection. The sports theme of the capsule is complemented by rugby shirts with a contrasting collar, shorts, cotton polo shirts and t-shirts with the symbol of the collection – a lacrosse player. Particular attention is paid to accessories: warm scarves, gloves, trendy ties and classic bow ties, bags and warm hats with funny pompoms.
The main colors of this bright collection are orange, burgundy, dirty pink and green, but thanks to the classic gray, black, brown and beige colors, the collection has become perfectly balanced and appropriate for modern casual style. All items in the Gant by Michael Bastian collection are tagged with a unique white tag featuring two lacrosse players.

, Polo Ralph Lauren. In 2001, he was invited to the position of director of the menswear line at the Bergdorf Goodman chain of stores. While working there, Michael often traveled abroad to purchase expensive goods and brands for the department store chain. Having a professional flair, he, like no one else, understood that men’s fashion needs a fresh breath. In 2006, Michael Bastian founded his own menswear label. His design research soon began to enjoy success with men and critical acclaim, and a year later, in 2007, he was nominated for the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) as the best menswear designer and won in this nomination. Twice more Bastian was nominated for the title of the best fashion designer of the year in 2008 and 2009.years. His collections, designed in a classic style, always arouse special interest of the public. Every year, Bastian presents a show of his models as part of New York Fashion Week.

The basis of the preppy style is club jackets, knitted vests, golfs, jumpers, loafers, brogues, ties and, of course, polo. Another hallmark of the preppy style is prints: rhombus, stripe, cage.
Creation date. The preppy style originated in America in the late 40s of the XX century.
History of creation. Preppy is a concept and a word that came into Russian from the English “preppy” (short for “preparatory”, which means “preliminary”). In the northern part of the United States, the word “preppy” originally referred to prestigious colleges that prepared their students for admission to universities, as well as other elite institutions of higher education.
Then, preppy also began to be understood as all the socio-cultural features associated with students studying in these institutions. Then preppy was a kind of subculture that united students of schools for the “golden youth”. Teenagers led a certain lifestyle, had special manners, vocabulary, were educated, well-mannered, polite, aimed at success, looked neat and tidy. They wore compulsory school uniforms and sports uniforms for tennis, lacrosse and golf. This is what became the basis of the preppy style.
