Utah Valley is KING: MCLA Lacrosse Week 10 Rankings
A new king sits on top of the throne as the Utah Valley Men’s Lacrosse program is having a phenomenal year. The Varsity Club Lacrosse boys have been on top of MCLA this season giving us weekly breakdowns and rankings. Let’s see what they have to say for Week 10.
Division I
1. Utah Valley
The Wolverines are 9-1 with their only loss being a one goal one to #7 Liberty at home. They have wins over South Carolina on the road and Cal Poly and Boise State. This weekend they have a huge test against #11 Georgia Tech.
Congratulations Preston on being name to the MCLA @warriorlax D-I Player of the Week Honor Roll for the third time this season with a 9 point weekend! https://t.co/cZS0p0iHVc pic.twitter.com/hh5B5I1y5Z

2.
Boston College
The Eagles haven’t lost a game since their season opener at #15 FSU. This weekend they are off, but next weekend they play CLC opponent #10 Northeastern which have huge effects on CLC playoffs.
3. Florida
Would most likely be #1 if not for their one loss to #2 BC at home. They have 11 wins including ranked ones over South Carolina, Georgia, and Colorado. They play their final game against rival #15 FSU at home this weekend. With a win they clinch a bye in the SELC tournament.
4. Georgia
The Dawgs only loss is to #3 UF back in February. This weekend they play #14 South Carolina who is also a SELC North opponent. They also play a solid Tennessee team this weekend as well.
5. San Diego State
One of two undefeated teams, they play USC this weekend. A win will get them to 4-0 in the SLC which will almost guarantee a spot in the SLC tournament.
6. Virginia Tech
The Hokies just got a huge win over #9 Concordia at home to move to 11-2. They have two losses to Georgia Tech and South Carolina, but neither affect their conference standing. They play their final game on 4/15 against NC State.
7. Liberty
They only have two losses to Virginia Tech and South Carolina, and this weekend have a huge test against #9 Concordia. They play their final game against James Madison on 4/15. A win gets them the #1 seed in the ALC North.
8. Chapman
They only have losses to BC and Cal, but are still undefeated in SLC and they have a chance to move to 4-0 this weekend if they beat UCLA.
9. Concordia
The Golden Eagles are 7-2 with a lot of big wins, but two bad losses to #18 Arizona State and #21 Cal which puts them at 3-1 in the SLC as the playoff races heats up.
10. Northeastern
This past weekend they dropped a tough one to then unranked Auburn, but made up for it with a win at Georgia Tech.
They’ve taken three long road trips, but stay in New England for the rest of the season.
At least one President is having a good week. Congrats to Sixer for the first of many #Covfefe #HumanBulldog https://t.co/81Ja8zh4Fb

13. BYU
They’ve dropped 2 of the last 3, but have a great chance to bounce back this weekend and improve their at-large resume with a win over Georgia Tech at home.

Probably the highest ranked team in any sport at any level ever to have a losing record. They dropped seven straight after their first game, but have since beaten Virginia Tech and Liberty, both of whom were #1 seeds at the time. They have another big one against #4 UGA. A win keeps their SELC playoff hopes alive.

20. UCSB

Oxford Saïd Business School MBA student and Oxford University men’s lacrosse team member Sergio Navarro talked about the game of lacrosse and what the Oxford MBA and lacrosse have in common.
Lacrosse (lacrosse) – a team game like hockey: a player throws a rubber ball into the opponent’s goal with a stick with a net at the end.
Lacrosse encourages entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork. “We are more than a team. We are a brotherhood, among us there are Ph.D candidates, students of the MBA program,” said Sergio.
What do lacrosse and business have in common?
Innovation. In lacrosse, we look for competitive advantages and use them to get the ball into the opponent’s goal.
We are looking for effective combinations on the field that will allow us to win. The same principle of real-time innovation applies in business.
Communications. Communication helps win competitions, cut costs, save lives. Research shows the benefits of communications in sports, business, and medicine. We encourage each member of the team to “talk” during the game about the roles, about what we see on the site. During timeouts, we analyze in detail the missed opportunities, conduct a joint brainstorming of additional opportunities. The same applies in business.
Team work. This is the key to success on any site. Getting good results depends on cooperation, communication, partnership. Each player on the court knows his role, position, the role of team members.
