You know what really grinds my gears? Uncomfortable knee pads. As someone who spends a fair bit of time on my knees for work and hobbies, I’ve tried my fair share of knee pads over the years. The ones that just don’t fit right or slide around drive me absolutely bonkers. Am I right, or am I right?

Slow, controlled rolls back and forth mean your muscles have to work overtime. You’ll feel it for sure! Take 3-5 seconds to slowly roll yourself out and another 3-5 to use your abs to pull yourself back in.

Be sure to keep hips and legs engaged too – don’t let them go loose. The only motion should be at your core as you roll the wheel. A tight body makes those abs work extra hard.
Speaking of hips, don’t let them sag or “cheat” by lifting them off the floor. Keep hips pressed down, even as you roll out. This prevents cheating and keeps tension on the abs.

If you feel any strain on your back, don’t roll out as far. Listen to your body. Only extend as far as your abdominals can control – no back pain!

To work obliques, do “around the worlds” – make a big circle by rolling out, then curving to the side, then back around. Repeat the circle rolling the other way to hit both sides.
You can make horizontal and vertical circles this way too. Get creative with circular motions to blast those obliques from all angles.
And mix up the pace! Quick pulses out and back in really elevate heart rate. Take it slow and controlled. Do rapid fire reps. Varied speeds keeps things challenging.
