How did Will Bowen overcome injuries and setbacks to become an All-American defenseman at UNC. What impact did his education at BC High have on his college career. How does Bowen plan to continue his lacrosse journey at Georgetown.
Will Bowen’s Rise to Lacrosse Stardom
Will Bowen, a former BC High Football and Lacrosse All-Scholastic, has emerged as one of the top defensemen in college lacrosse. Despite facing significant challenges early in his college career, Bowen persevered to become an All-American at the University of North Carolina (UNC). His journey from high school standout to collegiate success serves as an inspiring tale of determination and resilience.
Overcoming Adversity
Bowen’s path to success was far from smooth. He lost his first season at UNC due to injury, and his second season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. How did he manage to bounce back and achieve All-American status in his first full season of play?
Bowen credits his success to the strong support system at UNC, including athletic trainers, strength coaches, lacrosse staff, and teammates. This network kept him motivated to emerge from his injury stronger than ever. The unexpected challenges taught him to cherish every moment and stay mentally focused, especially during the uncertain times of the pandemic.
The Final Four Experience
Bowen’s perseverance paid off as he helped lead UNC to the NCAA Division I Lacrosse Final Four in 2021. As a member of the tournament’s top-seeded team, Bowen described the experience as “tremendous” and “very special.” Despite the uncertainty surrounding the season due to COVID-19, Bowen expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the highest level of collegiate lacrosse.
Embracing the Moment
What advice did Bowen receive before heading to the Final Four? UNC’s newly hired basketball coach, Hubert Davis, encouraged the team to embrace and cherish the moment, emphasizing that the Final Four is the most important weekend in all sports. This message resonated with Bowen, who recognized the significance of the opportunity despite the tournament not playing out exactly as hoped.
BC High’s Impact on Bowen’s Success
Bowen’s journey to lacrosse stardom began at BC High, where he laid the foundation for his future success. How did his time at BC High prepare him for the challenges he would face in college?

Preparing for Life After Sports
By pursuing a Master’s degree at Georgetown, Bowen is setting himself up for success beyond his athletic career. This approach highlights the importance of viewing college athletics as a platform for personal and professional development, rather than solely as a path to professional sports.
As Bowen continues his journey at Georgetown, he serves as an inspiring example of how student-athletes can leverage their athletic experiences to achieve success in academics and prepare for future career opportunities.
Q&A with Lacrosse All-American Will Bowen ‘18
BC High Athletics was able to catch up with alumnus Will Bowen’18, a former BC High Football and Lacrosse All-Scholastic, and current member of North Carolina’s Final Four Lacrosse Team. Will was one of only three D1 All-American Defensemen in 2021, as he shares his thoughts on the season, but also overcoming a season ending injury his freshmen year, followed by his sophomore season getting cancelled due to COVID.
Q#1: What was the experience like playing in the D1 Lacrosse Final Four, and playing for the team with the #1 seed?
WB: “It was a tremendous experience. Championship Weekend (The Final Four) is the pinnacle of our sport and to have had the chance to compete on that stage was very special. In a year that began with lots of uncertainty due to Covid-19, I am grateful for those at UNC, other universities, the NCAA, and health departments who found a way to make this season happen. The tournament did not play out exactly how we had hoped, but my experiences are ones I will remember for the rest of my life. Coach Hubert Davis, our newly hired basketball coach at UNC, spoke to us before we left Chapel Hill for the Final Four. He shared a few amazing messages, but the one consistent theme was to embrace and cherish the moment because the Final Four is the most important weekend in all sports. This certainly rang true.”
Q#2: You have overcome a lot. Losing your first season at North Carolina to an injury, and then the second season to COVID. How were you able to persevere over two years, to where your first year playing D1 Lacrosse you make All-American? How did you stay focused mentally?
WB: “When I graduated from BC High, I had a loose vision of what my athletic experiences at Carolina would have looked like and they were about 80% wrong. I never would have expected a season-ending injury or cancellation of a season due to a pandemic. In hindsight, however, I would not have asked for anything to have happened differently. It was challenging to stay mentally engaged with so much disruption, but I effectively had to wait two years for my first true season of lacrosse at UNC. That made these past five months of 2021 some of the best of my life. I was lucky to have had such a strong support group of athletic trainers, strength coaches, lacrosse staff, and teammates around me that kept me determined to emerge from my injury better than ever before. Having our season cancelled in 2020 was devastating but having five of our seniors come back for a fifth year made our team bonds unique and taught us to cherish every single moment spent together. It is easy to stay mentally focused when you do not know what comes tomorrow in the perspective of college athletics during a pandemic.”
Q#3: You graduate North Carolina in three years, and will continue lacrosse and graduate school at Georgetown. What will you graduate degree be in at Georgetown, and will you have the same lacrosse goals at Georgetown as you did at North Carolina?
WB: “I am pursuing a Master’s of Finance degree at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. I am extremely excited about this opportunity and although much of my decision was academic and career focused, I am going to Georgetown with the same lacrosse goals of playing in Championship Weekend. I think the program is on the cusp of competing at the highest level, and I look forward to doing what I can to help my new teammates get us there.”
Q#4: How has attending BC High helped you with your college journey, in both academics and athletics at North Carolina?
WB: “I learned a great deal academically, athletically, and socially in my time at BC High which prepared me well for my first three years of college. What I learned most about, however, was myself through the Jesuit teaching principles. One of the most important foundational learnings is knowing your whole, true self and that prepared me particularly well for the things I faced unexpectedly at UNC like my injury and complications due to the pandemic. I find it both fitting and comforting that I will be returning to a Jesuit institution for my next two years of school where I hope to continue in my explorative journey and lay more foundation for my transition to life after college.”
Q#5: While at college, do you have time to follow BC High sports results?
WB: “I always do my best to stay up to date on all happenings at BC High. I am lucky enough to participate in the Alumni Advisory Council which gives me the chance to check in with Grace, faculty, and some alumni frequently. I get access to a lot of strong school coverage on LinkedIn and use Twitter to follow the football and lacrosse teams most closely.”

Will Bowen will graduate from North Carolina in just three years. He’s headed to Georgetown for graduate school next year, but has unfinished business with the Tar Heels.
A little more than a year ago, Will Bowen came home to Cohasset, Mass., at the onset of the pandemic and did the math.
The North Carolina defenseman had figured he could graduate in 3 ½ years thanks to a bunch of advanced placement credits as well having overloaded his schedule for a few semesters.
Then he looked closer, and realized he might be able to get done in three.
“It was an eye-opening experience for me, first having torn my ACL and then having had a season get canceled due to COVID,” Bowen said. “It was like ‘OK, this isn’t forever, and I know I’m where I want to be but I can’t continue to [ignore the future]. It made sense for me to finish this academic program as quickly as I could and then do another one.”
In this strangest of seasons, there are the normal fourth-year seniors. There are plenty of fifth-year seniors. And then there’s Bowen, a first team All-America selection by the USILA who could be viewed as a third-year senior.
But with three years of eligibility left thanks to the redshirt year and the blanket pandemic waiver, he’s also sort of a third-year freshman — and on his way to pursuing a two-year master’s degree in finance at Georgetown. He’ll play for the Hoyas the next two seasons while working off the field to position himself for a career in the financial services sector.
Yet first, he and the top-seeded Tar Heels (13-2) will face fourth-seeded Virginia (12-4) in Saturday’s NCAA semifinals in East Hartford, Conn.
“I knew what I was getting myself into, but I had never lived it or experienced it and now I am,” Bowen said. “It has been unique. It’s been weird to have gone to school for the last three years with my class and my best friends, but fortunately our team is close. So when I made the decision to graduate and move on, I was very quickly adopted by our graduating seniors.”
As unusual as it is for a player — especially one at a school that has a graduate school and is permitted by league rules to have fifth-year players — to enter the transfer portal before closing out his time at a school, no one in Chapel Hill has lamented any part of Bowen’s decision other than the fact North Carolina doesn’t offer the program he sought.
Instead, the Tar Heels have appreciated having a guy around who is the active roster representative on the program’s alumni mentorship program and who was recently named one of the school’s top 10 scholar-athletes.
“It’s tough to lose the young man out of the program, not [just] the player,” coach Joe Breschi said. “He’s a great player, but the person he is and what he has meant to this program is unparalleled. He’s just a really, really good guy. I have to check the rules to see if I can stay in touch with him when he’s at Georgetown because he’s that kind of person, a guy you gravitate toward because he’s pretty special.”
In some ways, it feels like Bowen just got to Carolina. He’s played in only 22 career college games, but considers his first year in the program as an eye-opening experience. Last year’s abrupt end was a disappointment to everyone in the sport, including a Carolina team that was 7-0.
And now, after a quick start, a midseason reset after consecutive losses and the Tar Heels’ current five-game winning streak, there’s a blink-of-an-eye element to how quickly Bowen’s time at North Carolina is winding down.
“My lacrosse experience has definitely felt like it’s flown by between actually sitting on the sidelines and then a half season and now finally having a real full season under my belt,” Bowen said. “But I feel like I’ve gotten a full UNC experience in terms of the social front and the guys around me. This place is special. This doesn’t need to be a UNC advertisement, but I truly feel that way. I’ve gotten as much as I could have asked for out of this place.”
Well, maybe not quite everything. There is still the matter of this weekend’s business and the opportunity to help the Tar Heels win their sixth national title and first since 2016. Bowen will get the chance to do so a little less than two hours from his hometown.
“This was my goal when I decided to come to Carolina,” Bowen said. “I chose Carolina for 20 reasons, but one of them definitely was because I knew I had a chance to compete for a national championship. And here it is sitting right in front of me and my teammates and the coaching staff.”
Tillman’s time
Just how deep is North Carolina’s offense? Lance Tillman ranked 12th on the Tar Heels’ roster with five goals entering Saturday’s quarterfinal defeat of Rutgers.
Then he scored four goals off the bench in the 12-11 triumph, a breakout Tillman might have been building toward for the last month.
“He’s kind of been doing that in practices and so forth,” Breschi said. “You saw signs of it the last couple of weeks in games. He had a great move against Monmouth. Obviously, had a good game against Duke. he’s been coming out of the box, playing midfield and attack.”
The sophomore had two points in Carolina’s first 10 games — an assist against Jacksonville and a goal against High Point — but delivered a goal and an assist in a rout of Syracuse on April 17. He scored twice in the regular-season finale against Duke, and once in the first round against Monmouth.
Now Tillman is one of eight Tar Heels to score at least four goals in an NCAA tournament game during Breschi’s tenure. The others: Chris Cloutier (three times), Luke Goldstock (twice), Billy Bitter, Jimmy Dunster, Marcus Holman, Steve Pontrello and Joey Sankey.
“I felt like Rutgers’ defense is so good. They depended a lot on their goalie, so we felt like we had to get some breakdown situations and cause some slides and rotations,” Breschi said. “Usually, they weren’t sliding, so we felt Lance would give us a great shot whether he was at midfield or attack to create those opportunities, and he took advantage of them.”
Triple threat
Historically, the third time has not been the charm for North Carolina. Of course, what better occasion could there be to accomplish something new than in a final four?
The Tar Heels, who split two games with Virginia earlier this season, are playing an opponent three times in a year for the sixth time since the school recognized men’s lacrosse as a varsity sport in 1949. It is 0-5 all-time in third meetings.
North Carolina lost its first three varsity games to Delaware in 1949. It lost in the regular season, won in the ACC tournament and fell in the NCAA tournament to Virginia in 1994.
More recently, it was swept by Duke in 2007 and 2009. The Tar Heels also took a regular-season game from Maryland in 2011, only to fall in both the ACC and NCAA tournaments to the Terrapins.
Should North Carolina take the rubber game against Virginia, it might have the chance to win a third matchup again Monday. After all, the Tar Heels and fellow semifinalist Duke split their home-and-home series in the regular season.
Previewing Championship Weekend for the Virginia men’s lacrosse team – The Cavalier Daily
The Cavaliers are returning to Championship Weekend for the second time in the past three years — excluding the shortened 2020 season. We all know what occurred the last time Virginia was in the semifinals in 2019 — then-sophomore attackman Ian Laviano’s overtime goal gave the team a date against Yale. The No. 3 seeded Cavaliers proceeded to upend the No. 5 Bulldogs on the shoulders of then-sophomore attackman Matt Moore who posted four goals and an assist in a 13-9 victory, winning the team the National Championship. It was a picture-perfect way to wrap up the spring during the Year of the Hoo.
Now, the Cavaliers have a chance to be the first team to repeat since Duke in 2013-2014. The pieces are all there for Coach Lars Tiffany, yet the competition looms large as Virginia sets its sights on the No. 1 ranked Tar Heels.
The Cavaliers are no stranger to this team, having played them both home and away in ACC play this year. In the first outing, North Carolina maintained its seven-game win streak with a 16-13 triumph over Virginia at home. Chris Gray, a Tewaaraton Trophy candidate and senior attackman, starred with four goals and an assist, while junior attackman Nicky Solomon played his own part by tallying six points for the Tar Heels.
Virginia’s Connor Shellenberger — a redshirt freshman — attempted to mount a late game comeback after posting two goals and three assists — both coming in the last nine minutes of the fourth quarter. Fast forward to the second contest between the two in Chapel Hill. A close affair throughout, the Cavaliers eventually extended their lead to four in the last period and left no room for a last ditch effort. Virginia essentially flipped the script and dictated its own pace of play, with junior midfielder Petey LaSalla winning 26 of 38 draws at the face-off X.
Let’s now examine some of the key pieces for North Carolina, a team that will once again test the Cavaliers with their depth and experience.
Chris Gray, Senior Attackman:
Gray — after transferring from Boston University two years ago — has provided a spark for the Tar Heel offense in his short time at Chapel Hill. While listed at only 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds, Gray plays above his smaller stature and finds ways to score, whether it be shooting from the wings or creating from behind the goal. His vision — as backed up by his 40 assists from this past season — has opened up opportunities for Solomon and others, since Gray captures much of the attention of the defense. The North Carolina offense revolves around #4 in blue, and his versatility as a scorer and a feeder will challenge the Cavalier defense immensely. Expect sophomore defenseman Cade Saustad — who stands at 6 feet 5 inches — to handle much of Gray in Saturday’s semifinal. Regardless of the matchup, it is a priority that the Cavaliers keep an eye on the 2021 ACC Offensive Player of the Year throughout the game.
Will Bowen, Junior Defenseman:
Bowen is a freak of nature. At 6 feet 3 inches tall and 220 pounds, he presents a physical challenge for any attackman on account of his sheer size and strength — let alone his skill with the stick. Having taken the 2019 season off for medical reasons, Bowen returned to the playing field in 2020 and ended the year as an Honorable Mention All-American. This past season, #24 dominated as the anchor of the Tar Heel defense, not necessarily finding himself on the stat sheet but consistently drawing the opponent’s best attackman. Moore or Shellenberger — the predominant scorers for Virginia — will likely find themselves matched up against Bowen. In order to keep the offense flowing, the Cavaliers will have to exploit one-on-ones away from the junior defenseman.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Duke (14-2, 4-2 ACC) will face off against No. 3 Maryland (14-0, 10-0 Big Ten) in a clash of the titans. Led by graduate student attackman Michael Sowers and freshman phenom attackman Brennan O’Neill, Duke boasts one of the most potent offenses in all of college lacrosse. The Blue Devils have had the Cavaliers’ number in the past decade and took home a 13-12 OT win in Charlottesville earlier this year. If they are able to overcome Maryland’s experienced attack — led by Tewaaraton Award Finalist senior Jared Bernhardt and senior Logan Wisnauskas — Duke will pose a serious threat for Virginia in the case of a semifinal victory. Maryland — underseeded despite an undefeated record — will wear down teams with sound defense and a seasoned offense.
Overall, the top four teams that remain are quite simply the best of the best. Virginia — which restarts its final weekend campaign for a National Championship — will have to topple the No. 1 seeded Tar Heels first before having a chance at Duke or Maryland on Memorial Day. Thanks to those who experienced the 2019 National Championship, the Cavaliers will hopefully regain their postseason momentum as they attempt to repeat.
BC High’s Will Bowen a rare breed of lacrosse star – Boston Herald
Will Bowen didn’t need to go through a long, drawn-out recruiting process. He knew early on where he wanted to go to college.
The Boston College High senior lacrosse standout gave his verbal commitment to North Carolina three years ago before he played his first varsity game as a freshman. It’s a decision Bowen never has regretted.
“At the time, when I was back in the eighth grade, the recruiting atmosphere was pretty hectic,” he said. “There is certainly a lot of pressure as schools began to approach younger kids. The (recruiting) classes start to fill up, and once you get into the later part of your sophomore year (without committing), opportunities to play at a high Division 1 school are tougher.
“For me, it came down to Harvard, Michigan and North Carolina. The coaching staff at North Carolina, coach (Joe) Brescia, coach (David) Metzbower and coach (Chris) Feifs, provided a great recruiting experience for me. The university also provided me with a great academic opportunity which made it very appealing.”
Bowen grew up in the lacrosse hotbed of Cohasset and picked up the sport as a third grader. While Bowen originally enjoyed the sport, there were some issues. He wasn’t crazy about playing midfield, and a knee injury made him question whether lacrosse was the sport for him.
A switch to defense and a return to good health restored Bowen’s love for the game. His knowledge of lacrosse, coupled with his 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame, made him a rarity — a freshman who could step up against the best competition and not be a fish out of water.
“Guys come in as freshmen and will impress during practice and tryouts,” BC High coach Steve Lydon said. “But when you start to ask them to do more than they are comfortable with, that’s what separated Will. He showed that he had other tools. He was able to step right into the Catholic Conference and against a tough nonleague schedule and hang with them from Day 1. I feel pretty fortunate to have the opportunity to get to coach him for four years.”
With Bowen in the lineup, the Eagles have been one of the elite programs in the state. They’ve gone 54-10 and competed in the past two Division 1 state finals, losing an 8-7 contest to Lincoln-Sudbury last season.
“We had a tough playoff run last year. We ran into a great Duxbury team at Harvard in the South final,” Bowen said of the Eagles’ 11-9 win. “We were built for those games. We worked a lot down the stretch to put ourselves in the position to be the team that people want to beat. Unfortunately we did come up short against a great L-S team in the state final. That’s definitely been used for motivation in the offseason. It’s something that should propel us to a good season.”

No. 9 Men’s Lacrosse Faces No. 1 Seed North Carolina in NCAA Quarterfinals
Story Links
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 9 Rutgers men’s lacrosse plays in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals this weekend, as the Scarlet Knights will face top-seeded North Carolina on the campus of Hofstra University. The game will be a 2:30 p.m. start on ESPNU, with Chris Cotter and Paul Carcaterra on the call. WRSU will also provide a radio broadcast.
ABOUT RUTGERS
The Scarlet Knights enter the matchup after a 12-5 win over Lehigh last weekend, the team’s first NCAA Tournament since 1990. Rutgers’ defensive effort was outstanding in the game, led by goalkeeper Colin Kirst’s 17 saves. The Scarlet Knights allowed their fewest goals since 2019, a span of 27 games, and the fewest ever allowed by RU in an NCAA Tournament game. Rutgers held Lehigh scoreless for a 25-minute stretch to take a 7-3 lead, and then scored four of the final five goals of the game to put the victory away.
Kieran Mullins, Adam Charalambides and Connor Kirst each scored three goals for RU in that win. The trio has all recorded at least 50 points this season for the Scarlet Knights. Charalambides along with Colin Kirst were named All-Americans by a media voting panel, giving RU 218 All-Americans all-time. Charalambides is the second Scarlet Knight all-time with three 40-goal seasons, joining Jack Daut.
The game features two of the nation’s top offenses, as UNC leads the nation at 17.0 goals per game, while Rutgers is fifth at 14.58 goals. Rutgers also takes care of the ball at an elite level, with just 12.25 turnovers per game being the best mark in the nation. The team’s man-up offense converts 51.9 percent of the time, third best nationally.
Defensively, RU is buoyed by Colin Kirst in the goal, who ranks in the top-10 nationally in saves per game (13.58). Long-stick midfielders Ethan Rall and Zach Masessa combined for five caused turnovers in last week’s win.
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Rutgers is making its 10th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament. The Scarlet Knights previously reached the NCAA Tournament in 1972, 1974, 1975, 1984, 1986, 1990, 1991, 2003 and 2004. The NCAA playoff system for men’s lacrosse was implemented in 1971. RU win over Lehigh was the program’s first NCAA Tournament game win since 1990 and improved the Scarlet Knights’ all-time record in NCAA games to 3-9 all-time in the event. The Scarlet Knights’ first NCAA Tournament victory came in 1986. Rutgers has never won two consecutive NCAA Tournament games.
ABOUT UNC
North Carolina enters the game at 12-2 following a 16-4 win over Monmouth in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels started the season 8-0 before taking consecutive losses at Duke (12-11 in OT) and to Virginia (18-16) before reeling off four consecutive wins to this point. UNC had eight All-Americans in the media voting, led by First Team selections in attackman Chris Gray and defenseman Will Bowen. Gray is second nationally with 5.93 points per game, leading the team with 46 goals and 37 assists, pacing nine Tar Heels to score double-digit goals this season. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Collin Kreig has a save percentage of 54.8 percent and a 10.1 goals-against-average.
The Tar Heels are ranked No. 1 in the media poll. The last time RU faced the nation’s top team was consecutive matchups against No. 1 Penn State to close the 2019 season.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
The Scarlet Knights have never played North Carolina previously. The Tar Heels are the lone team currently in the ACC that RU has never faced.
Rutgers’ assistant coach and offensive coordinator Eric Seremet played at UNC, graduating in 1992. During his career, the Tar Heels won four ACC titles and advanced to the NCAA Final Four each season. Seremet also played on North Carolina’s 1991 national championship team
WITH A VICTORY
A win on Saturday for the Scarlet Knights would represent:
– Rutgers first ever Final Four trip.
– The first time RU ever won multiple games in an NCAA Tournament.
– The highest ever ranked win in program history (previously: two wins over No. 3 ranked team in the country – No. 3 Ohio State in 2017 and No. 3 UMass in 2003).

QUOTABLE
“Everyone in the locker room is utter excitement to have another week together. It was great for us to make history, and we are trying to keep our positive momentum going forward. We’ve been working hard all season, we need to work well together, communicate, and play together. We have all the tools we need to make that happen.”
– Michael Sanguinetti
“Everyone bought in for this season. We really stuck together as a team and that was a key for us in getting to the NCAA Tournament and then getting a First Round win. Against UNC, we have to stick to our fundamentals and keep doing what we have been doing all year – lock in with our stick work and play our game.”
– Ethan Rall
No. 1 UNC men ‘s lacrosse starts ACC schedule with 16-13 win over No. 8 Virginia
The No. 1 UNC men’s lacrosse team (7-0, 1-0 ACC) defeated the No. 8 Virginia Cavaliers (5-2, 0-2 ACC), 16-13, in front of a small-but-lively crowd during the team’s ACC season-opener on Thursday night.
What happened?
From the beginning, the teams were engaged in a fast-paced shootout, with a combined 58 shots resulting in 15 combined goals in the first half alone. The Tar Heels jumped out to an early lead, scoring three goals within the first five minutes of playing time, eventually going into the second half leading 11-4.
The Cavaliers started off the second half strong by rattling off four goals in the third period, swinging the momentum in their favor and narrowing UNC’s lead down to within five goals.
An intense final period saw the teams trade a couple of goals each, before the Tar Heel defense was able to hold on and close out the game.
Despite the eventual loss, UVA won nearly two-thirds of all face-offs and took more shots on goal than the Tar Heels. The UNC defense played a huge role in the eventual victory, contesting nearly all shots and allowing just one goal while down a man.
Who stood out?
First-year goalkeeper Collin Krieg led the defensive effort with 20 saves — a career high — in his first ACC game. Junior defenseman Will Bowen, who leads the NCAA in total forced turnovers, also made a significant defensive contribution.
On the other side of the field, senior attackman Chris Gray, the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week, teamed up with junior attackman Nicky Solomon for a combined seven goals, 14 shots and four assists.
When was it decided?
A dominant first half saw the Tar Heels jump out to an early lead by controlling the pace of play and shutting down the opposing offense. But a contentious next two periods allowed the Cavaliers to creep within two, leaving the score at 15-13, Tar Heels, with a minute and a half to play.
UVA scored its last goal in the last two minutes of regulation, before going a man up following a push foul on UNC with less than a minute left. But, the Tar Heel defense was able to clear the ball and score one final time before time expired, taking the win.
Why does it matter?
After two seasons, UNC was able to get its first win over UVA since 2017. The team demonstrated an impressive ability to take care of the ball, allowing relatively few turnovers, especially in the first half, while forcing eleven from the Cavaliers.
Thursday’s win also kept the top-ranked Tar Heels’ record perfect as the team enters conference play. This marked the team’s fifth victory over a ranked opponent this season and the second year in a row the team has established a 7-0 season record to start the year.
When do they play next?
Next up for the team is a home game on Saturday, March 20 against Air Force. The team will then close out the season with exclusively ACC opponents.

Today, the metro world suddenly has another anniversary: 40 years since the opening of the metro in Vienna, the capital of Austria. With this post on this holiday, I not only conclude the photo reviews of all Vienna metro lines, which for a number of reasons dragged on for 4 years, but also share the good news: after some expansion to the east, “Metro Walks” begin to expand in the opposite direction – to the west, outside of Russia. This expansion was conceived 8 years ago, moreover, starting from completely different cities and countries, but the implementation of the planned plans took a significant amount of time, and when almost everything was ready, the idea of tying publications to anniversaries seemed more interesting than the geographical principle, therefore, the first foreign city on “ Walking on the Metro ”was Vienna, the capital of Austria.
Now back to the U3 line, the last one I didn’t show earlier. This line (like U1) was originally built as a classic “heavy” metro. In the center of the city, the line is built deep, on the outskirts – shallow. Most of the stations on this line were built according to standard designs, they differ only in design features. For some stations, these features are very interesting: for example, at the same station, tracks and platforms of different directions may be at different depths.
Each line of the Vienna metro has its own color, which is used not only in the schemes, but also in the decoration of the stations. The color of the third line is orange.
The third metro line of Vienna runs from the western districts of the city (Ottakring district) through the very center to the southeastern outskirts (Simmering district). The length of the line is 13.4 km, the number of stations is 21. Thus, the U3 line turns out to be the shortest in length, but in terms of the number of stations it is in second place, which means that it has the shortest stretches.
The first section of the U3 line (from the very center in the southeast direction) was opened on April 6, 1991, the newest stations to date (also in the southeast) were opened on December 2, 2000, that is, between the opening of the oldest and newest stations have passed only 9 years.
The third line of the Vienna metro has the most art objects, many stations are brightly decorated. The previous series, Art in the Vienna Metro, was devoted to decorations and decorations, and this post is built in a “photo run” format – 1–2 photos of each station with separate photos of some interesting features.

90,000 Scott Fitzgerald. Intern.
Scott Fitzgerald. Intern.
By tradition, a concert in the Koktsidian club is held on the hottest evening of spring, and that year was no exception. Two hundred doctors and students filled the living rooms of the cramped building, and another two hundred students were choking at the doors, reliably isolating the interior from any breeze from the Maryland night outside. Only the faint sounds of the performance could be heard before these latter, but refreshments from the buffet were regularly passed along the chain. Downstairs in the basement, the janitors, as every year, prayed that the flexed floors would withstand the audience this time too.
Bill Tulliver turned out to be the coldest in the room.Without the slightest embarrassment, he put on a light robe and picked up a staff in the only issue in which he took part – it was a witty, rude and inevitable song, which described the failures and eccentricities of the medical faculty. He sat in the relative comfort of the stage and looked out over the hot sea of faces. The most famous doctors sat in the front row: Dr. Raph, an ophthalmologist; Dr. Lane, neurosurgeon; Dr. Georgie, gastrointestinal tract specialist; Dr. Barnett, alchemist of the internal organs; and on the edge was the angelic face of Dr. Norton, a diagnostician — who seemed oblivious to the rivulets of sweat dripping from his domed skull.
Like most of the students who came to believe in Norton, Bill Tulliver followed him unconditionally, but not quite like the others. He selfishly worshiped him as a life-giving deity. He wanted not to win his favor, but to force him to give this favor. His career – which, by and large, should have begun only when he was admitted to the hospital as an intern in July – filled his entire life, striving for the day when his diagnosis was correct and Dr. Norton’s diagnosis was wrong.Only then will he be able to become free – he will no longer need foundations in the form of an adding machine – a calculating machine – a probabilistic machine – the machine of St. Francis of Assisi.
Bill Tulliver came to this degree of selfishness in a state of complete readiness. He was the fifth in a continuous series of the William Tulliver doctors who practiced in the city in obedience to a calling. His father died last winter, and there was nothing unnatural in the fact that since school, this last son of the medical dynasty noisily demanded “freedom of expression.”
The song about medical school, popular since time immemorial, went on and on. A verse sounded about the bloody Dr. Lane, about the names that Dr. Brune invented for the new ailments he invented, about the distinctive “points” of Dr. Schwartz and the home scandals of Dr. Gillespie. Dr. Norton, one of the most popular employees, got off easy. There were some new verses – some were written by Bill:
Our Herr Ziegler, gray-haired and tired,
will drive you away or kill you,
If you forget the little
Gene that lives in the blood of the Bourbons.
Bam-tiddy – bam – bam,
Tiddy – bam – bam.
Three thousand years ago,
Three thousand years ago.
He looked closely at Dr. Ziegler and saw him start laughing. Bill wanted to know if the song would soon include a verse about him, Bill Talliver – listening to the chorus, he began to come up with lyrics.
After the concert, the old men left. Beer puddles appeared on the floor and the evening turned into a traditional noisy bedlam. But Bill was in a serious mood, so he put on his striped suit and, after waiting ten minutes for decency, left the hot hall.A group of people stood on the porch, inhaling the thin air, while another group sang songs by the lantern around the corner. On the other side of the street stood the huge building of the hospital, around which his whole life revolved. A round full moon shone between St. Michael’s Clinic and the Municipal Hospital.
The girl – she was in a hurry – caught up with the revelers at the lantern at the same time as Bill. She was wearing a dark dress and a dark brimmed hat, but Bill got the impression that her clothes were smart – the cut probably spoke of this, since it was not the color.Everything happened in just a minute; the man turned around – Bill saw that he did not belong to the great brotherhood – and literally collapsed on her chest, like an offended child against his mother.
The girl staggered back, screaming in fright; the whole group reacted immediately.
– Are you okay? Things are good?
“Yes,” she sighed convulsively. – He probably passed out and did not even realize that I would not be able to hold him back with all my desire.
– Let’s take him to intensive care and see if he can swallow a stomach tube!
Bill Tulliver walked next to the girl.
– Are you okay?
– Yes. She was still breathing heavily, her chest heaving, giving endless promises – as if the breath of air she took was the last on all earth.
– Don’t breathe … Don’t breathe – breathe … Don’t breathe … – she exhaled. – I just now realized that these are students. And why did I decide to walk this street today?
Her hair, dark and slicked back behind her ears, fell over her shoulders. She laughed unexpectedly.
“He was so helpless,” she said.- Oh, Lord, I saw helpless people – a hundred, perhaps, or more – but so that the expression on his face like that when he decided to … lean on me …
Her dark eyes shone with amusement, and Bill realized that in fact she had always successfully coped with everything herself. He carefully examined her, and her beauty acted on him in such a way that, without saying a word, without even introducing himself, he felt himself opening up to meet her, following the curve of her lips and dimples on her cheeks when she smiled …
All this happened in the three or four minutes while he walked next to her; only then could he realize how deep this impression was.
As they passed the church-like administrative building, an open convertible pulled up not far from them, from which a man of about thirty-five jumped out. The girl ran to him.
– Howard! She exclaimed excitedly and cheerfully. – I was attacked! There were students in front of the Koktsidian club …
The man turned sharply and threateningly to Bill Talliver.
– Is this one of them? – he asked.
– No, no … it’s not him.
And then Bill recognized him – it was Dr. Howard Darphy, a diamond among young surgeons, with a reputation for heartthrob and bully.
– I hope you didn’t get too much of a miss …
She stopped him with a gesture, but Bill managed to answer angrily:
– I never “get” people.
Still uncomfortable, as if Bill could be accused of something, Dr. Darphy climbed into the car; the girl sat down next to him.
– Happy! – she said, – and thank you. – She looked at Bill with friendly interest, and at that moment, while the car was about to take off, she slightly blinked, and then opened her eyes wide, as if giving him a sign that their meeting was not just a trifle for her.“I can see you,” she seemed to say. – You are taken into account. Nothing is impossible in life. ”
To the quiet fanfare of the new engine, she again disappeared into the spring night.
II
Bill was due to be admitted to the hospital in July with the first group of freshly baked doctors. He spent the remaining months at Martha Vainard, swimming and fishing with Schultz, his classmate; he returned, beaming with health and burning with enthusiasm, dreaming of getting to work.
Red Square was literally roasting under the Maryland sun.Beal entered the administrative building – the giant marble Christ blessed those entering the hall. Bill’s father walked in through the same doors thirty years ago, also as an intern.
Suddenly, Bill felt a shock, his calmness crumbled to pieces and he could hardly give a rational explanation of why he was where he was. A dark-haired girl with large, clear eyes emerged from the shadow of the statue, staring at him just as long as it took to strike, and then with a loud “Hello!” she disappeared behind the door of one of the offices.
He was still looking after her, amazed, agitated, absent-minded and melted when Dr. Norton called out to him:
– It seems to me that I had the honor of contacting William Talliver the Fifth …
Bill was grateful for the reminder of who he was.
“… showing such a genuine interest in Dr. Darphy’s girl,” Norton continued.
– Is she his girlfriend? – automatically asked Bill. And then: – Oh, good afternoon, doctor!
Dr. Norton decided to practice the wit, which he had in abundance.
– We know for sure that they spend their days together, and judging by the gossip, it is possible that evenings too.
– Days together? And it seemed to me that he must be very busy at this time.
– It is. The fact is that Miss Singleton causes a coma in the patient, which is necessary for the scalpel artist in order to cut off everything that is superfluous inside. She is an anesthesiologist.
– Got it. Well, then they are … doomed by fate to spend their days together.
– This can be seen as a romantic situation.Dr. Norton looked at him closely. – Already settled? Can you start working right now?
– Yes, of course.
– I know that you should not start work until tomorrow, but with your permission, I will give you an assignment right now: go to East Michael, do an examination and take a history.
– Good.
– Room 312. I sent your methodical friend Schultz on a hunt for another secret in the next room.
Bill hurried to his office on the top floor of the building, donned his new snow-white uniform and put his tools in his pockets. In a hurry, he forgot that for the first time on his own – without assistance! – conducts a survey. Walking out the door, he forced himself to calm down and gave his face a serious expression. When he entered the room, he looked almost like a snow-white angel – well, at least he tried very hard.
A pot-bellied, sickly man of about forty was lying in bed, smoking a cigarette.
– Good morning! Bill greeted him cordially. – How do you feel?
“Disgusting,” the man replied.“That’s why I’m here.
Bill put the briefcase on the floor and approached the bed carefully, like a cat to its first sparrow in its life.
– What are you worried about?
– Everything. My head hurts, my bones ache, I can’t sleep, I don’t want to eat, I am shivering. My chauffeur ran over me – that is, he arrived me, well, that is, he brought me, I hope you understand. That is, straight from Washington this morning. I hate these Washington doctors; they only know what to talk about politics.
Bill put a thermometer in his mouth and checked his pulse. Then he examined the chest, abdomen, throat and everything else. The rubber mallet elicited a sluggish reflex response. Beal sat down next to the bed.
“I’m ready to exchange hearts with you even now,” he joked.
“Yes, everyone says that my heart is excellent,” the man agreed. “What do you think of Hoover’s last speech?
– I thought you were tired of politics.
– Exactly, but while you studied me, only Hoover climbed into my head.
– Only Hoover?
– And myself. What have you found out?
– Tests will need to be done. However, it seems to me that you are practically healthy.
– I’m not healthy! – the patient was indignant. – I’m not healthy! I am ill.
Bill took out a map and a pen.
– What is your name? He began.
– Paul B. Van Shayk.
– The closest relative?
There was nothing in the medical history to help make a diagnosis. Mr. Van Shayk has shown symptoms of several childhood diseases at once. Yesterday morning he could not get out of bed, the servant took his temperature and found that it was high.
Bill’s thermometer was showing normal temperature.
“And now I’ll have to prick your thumb a little,” he said, preparing the glass plates, and when the procedure was completed to the sound of the patient’s short mournful moan, he added: “We also need a very small sample of tissue from your forearm.
– Are you trying to make me cry? The patient objected.
“We need to check all the options,” Bill replied dryly, plunging the syringe needle and the soft tissue of his forearm, which caused another outburst of indignation on the part of Mr. Van Scheik.
Bill removed the tools automatically. He did not have a single guess as to what could be the cause, and he looked reproachfully at the patient. Just in case, he looked to see if the tonsils were enlarged, asked if his parents were alive and cast a farewell glance at his throat and teeth.
“Eyes are slightly protruding,” he wrote, desperate. – Pupils are rounded and even.
“For now,” he said. – Rest.
– Rest? Mr. Van Shayk exclaimed indignantly.- If only I could! I can’t sleep for the third day in a row! I feel worse every second!
When Bill came out into the hall, George Schultz appeared from the door of the next room. There was uncertainty in his eyes, and sweat beaded on his forehead.
– Finished? Bill asked.
– Well, yes, it seems. Has Dr. Norton puzzled you too?
– Yes. Some mysterious case — mutually exclusive symptoms, ”he lied.
“And mine too,” said George, wiping his forehead.- It would be better if we were given something more pronounced to begin with, like the cases that Robinson described to us in class last year – remember, where there were two possibilities and one probability.
“And the patients here are kind of unfriendly,” Bill agreed.
A nurse approached them.
“You were just at 312,” she said quietly. – I’d better tell you. I was sorting out the patient’s belongings and found one empty whiskey bottle and another started. He asked for a drink, but I decided that I had to ask the doctor first.
“You did the right thing,” Bill replied calmly, although he really wanted to kiss her in gratitude.
Having transferred the biomaterial to the laboratory, the interns went to Dr. Norton’s office.
– Already finished? So what did you find, Tulliver?
“He was on a binge, and now he’s got a hangover,” Bill blurted out. – There are no results from the laboratory yet, but I think that this is the diagnosis.
“I agree with you,” said Dr. Norton. “Okay, now Schultz. What’s up with the lady of 314?
– Well, well, unless the reason lies too deep for me, then everything is fine with her.
“And you’re right,” agreed Dr. Norton. – Nerves – and even that is not enough for the clinic. What are we going to do with them?
“We’ll write it out now,” Bill suggested.
– Let’s leave to lie, – corrected Dr. Norton. – They can afford it. They’ve come to us for protection they don’t need, so they’d rather pay for a couple of real patients who end up in the municipal hospital. We have enough space.
Leaving the office, Bill and George looked closely at each other.
– He lowered us to the ground, – Bill said with annoyance. – Let’s go to the operating rooms; I want to make sure again that this is a serious profession, – and he swore. – Apparently, for the next few months we will have to feel the stomachs of simulators and write medical histories that are thought up by suspicious ladies.
“Never mind,” George replied cautiously. – I am personally even glad that we had to start with something simple, completely with …
– Why then?
– Yes, absolutely nothing!
“You’re easy to please,” Bill said.
***
After learning from the timetable on the wall that Dr. Howard Darphy is working at # 4 today, they took the elevator to the operating rooms. As he donned the robe, cap and mask, Bill realized that his breathing was quickening.
He saw her at once, not yet having had time to properly examine the environment of the room – except for a bright scarlet spot on the operating table, which violated the universal whiteness of the room. All eyes were on the two interns as they entered the gallery. She was sitting by the gas apparatus next to the patient’s invisible head, and Bill caught her eye – the eyes seemed darker than usual due to the contrast with the snow-white cap and mask. The room was cramped. The platform they stood on rose four feet, their eyes literally a couple of feet from the surgeon’s hands as they came close to a glass screen that looked like a windshield.
“Clean appendix – not a muscle hit,” whispered George. “The guy can play lacrosse tomorrow.
Dr. Darfi, who was stitching up the wound with catgut, heard him.
“Not this patient,” he said. – Too many stitches.
His hands, checking the seam, moved confidently and accurately – gentle and at the same time strong hands that could belong to both the pianist and the pitcher.Bill thought that to the uninitiated it might seem that the patient was in danger and completely helpless – but in fact, these confident hands guaranteed safety, and this atmosphere of safety only grew over time. Time stood still at the door of the operating room, feeling unworthy to enter here.
Thea Singleton stood guard at the door of the patient’s consciousness – her hand on the pulse, another turn of the wheel of a gas apparatus, similar to the register of a silent organ. There were other assistants — the assistant surgeon, the nurse supplying the instruments, the nurse in charge of the connection between the operating table and the medicine cabinets — but Bill was completely absorbed in the elusive connection that existed between Howard Darphy and Thea Singleton; he felt wild jealousy of the mask and the shiny nimble hands.
“I’m going,” he told George.
***
He saw her again in the evening, and again it happened in the shadow of the huge stone Christ in the main hall. She was in regular street clothes and looked great – fresh and teasingly exciting.
– Of course! We ran into you that evening, after a concert in “Koktsidian”. So you happen to be an intern now? Didn’t you walk into Operating Room 4 this morning?
– Yes, me. How did everything go?
– Excellent.It’s Dr. Darphy!
“Yes,” he said forcefully. “I know it was Dr. Darphy.
Over the next couple of weeks, he bumped into her several more times, by accident and on purpose, and finally decided that he could now ask her for a date.
– Well, perhaps, yes, – she was a little surprised. “So… let’s see… How about next week – Tuesday or Wednesday?
– Maybe today?
– No, I can’t.
When on Tuesday he rang the doorbell of a small apartment she shared with a friend who worked in the Peabody Institute orchestra, he asked:
– Want to go somewhere? Maybe a movie?
“No,” she said flatly.- If we knew better, I would probably suggest a ride out of town, there you can swim in one career – just a thousand miles. She looked at him quizzically and mockingly. “You’re not one of those overly impulsive interns who just want to knock the ground out of the poor nurses’s feet, are you?”
“On the contrary, I’m scared to death of you,” Bill admitted.
The night was hot, but the white roads were cool. They talked a little about each other: she was the daughter of an army officer and grew up in the Philippines, and in the silver-black waters of an abandoned quarry, she surprised him by diving like no other girl he knew before. It seemed that ghosts were flying in the black shadow that surrounded the bright moon disk, and when they called each other, their voices were picked up by a loud echo.
Then, with wet heads and burning bodies, they sat for a while, because they did not want to go back. Suddenly she smiled, and then looked at him without saying a word – only slightly opening her lips. There was only moonlight in the glowing darkness, and her pale cold cheeks, and Bill felt that he was in love, as he wanted it.
“It’s time to go,” she said at the same moment.
– It’s not time yet.
– It’s time – it’s time – it’s time now!
“Because,” he said after a moment, “you’re Dr. Darphy’s girlfriend?”
“Yes,” she said after a while, “I’m Dr. Darfi’s girlfriend.
– Why? He exclaimed.
– Have you fallen in love with me?
– Yes. Do you love Darfi?
She shook her head:
– No, I don’t love anyone. It’s just … I’m his girlfriend.
This is how the evening, which at first promised so much, ended in nothing. This feeling was further intensified when he discovered that his date owed to the fact that Darfi had left the city for several days.
When August rolled around and most of the doctors had gone on vacation, he was overwhelmed with work. For four years he only dreamed of such a job, which he had now, but all pleasure was spoiled by constant thoughts about the “Darfi girl.” In vain he searched among the city girls, on those Saturdays when he could go to the city, for one that could muffle the pain of his unrequited feelings. It seemed that the girls had disappeared in the city, and at work the young trainees in short robes did not evoke any emotions in him. In fact, it turned out that his original idealism, centered around Dr. Norton, suddenly received a different center – Thea. Instead of God, a goddess appeared, personifying for him the glory and vocation of the chosen profession; the fact that confusing circumstances separated her from him made him lose his composure.
Diagnostics has become a routine job – well, almost.Several times he managed to correctly guess the diagnosis, and Dr. Norton noted this.
“Nine out of ten times I’ll be right,” Norton said. – Rare diseases are so rare that I have already lost the habit of looking for them. And this is where you young people come on stage; your eyes are looking for something rare, and one in ten times you find it.
“This is such a good feeling,” Bill said. – This actinomycosis gave me real pleasure!
“You look too tired for your age,” Dr. Norton said unexpectedly.“At twenty-five, you can’t exist only on nervous energy, Bill, and that’s exactly what you do. Good acquaintances of yours say that they practically don’t see you. Why don’t you spend at least a couple of hours a week outside the hospital, if only for the sake of your patients? You gave Mr. Doremus so many blood tests that we almost had to give him a transfusion to get him back on his feet.
“But I was right,” Bill replied firmly.
– And they did the job rough! Everything would have been found out in a day or two.Moderate your ardor, follow the example of your friend Schultz. You will definitely learn a lot about medicine, but there is no need to rush.
But Bill was all at work; he tried to spend a few more Saturday evenings with the young debutantes, but found that right in the middle of the conversation, his mind turned off and flew away to those huge red brick buildings that personified the Idea for him, where alone he could feel the pulse of life itself.
The news that a prominent politician was leaving the West Coast and heading to their hospital to be diagnosed with some obscure illness prompted his unexpected interest in politics. He tried to find out as much as possible about this man and began to follow his journey to the east of the country, reports of which occupied half a column in newspapers every day; the affairs of the party depended on his treatment and subsequent recovery.
And suddenly, one evening in August, an announcement appeared in the secular news column about the engagement of this year’s debutante, Elena, daughter of Mrs. Traby Ponsoby Day, and Dr. Howard Darphy. The peace of the reconciled Bill was scattered to smithereens. Having experienced real grief, he still resigned himself to the fact that Thea is the mistress of a famous surgeon, but the fact that Dr. Darfi could escape from her seemed simply incredible.
He immediately went to look for her and found her leaving the nursing room in street clothes. Her beautiful face, with eyes that personified for him all the secrets of human efforts, all the greatness of the goal, all the rewards, all the love and all the joy, looked irritated; they looked at her, felt sorry for her.
“If you want,” she replied when he offered to give her a ride home, and then: “Lord, help the women! The number of groans sounded over my body tonight could have been enough for a whole war!
“I’m ready to help you,” he said.- If this guy deceived you …
– Shut up! I could have married Howard Darphy a few weeks ago if I had just nodded – but I never told these women that today. I think you have a delicacy, and it will come in very handy when you become a doctor.
– I am a doctor! He said pompously.
– No, you’re just an intern.
He was indignant, and they rode in silence. Then, softening, she turned and touched his hand.
“You are a real gentleman,” she said, “and sometimes it comes in handy, although personally I prefer a spark of genius.
“I have it,” Bill said stubbornly. – I have everything except you.
– Let’s go up to me and I will tell you something that no one in this city knows.
The apartment was modest, but the decor indicated that she had once lived in a larger world. Everything was somehow reduced, as if she was limited to a small number of favorite things – a table by Duncan Fife, a brass figurine of Brancusi, a couple of portraits from the 50s.
“I was John Grisham’s fiancée,” she said.- Do you know who this is?
“Of course,” he said. – I organized a subscription to his plaque.
The body of the dying John Grisham literally fell to pieces as a result of his experiments with radioactive materials.
“I was with him to the end,” Thea continued quickly, “and before he died, he shook his last finger at me and said:“ I forbid you to lose yourself in pieces. This is very unpleasant. ” Therefore, as an obedient girl, I did not slowly lose my mind, but I became tough inside. This is why I have never been able to love Howard Darphy the way he would have liked, despite all his chic and beautiful hands.
“I see.” Stunned by the frankness, Bill tried to respond in kind. – I always felt in you some kind of detachment, something like … Well, that you have something that I do not know about.
– Yes, it’s not easy with me. She stood up abruptly. – Well, today I lost a good friend and I am angry, so leave before I begin to demonstrate it. You can kiss me goodbye if you want.
– It won’t mean anything now.
“No, it will,” she said. – I want to be close to you. And I also love your costume!
He obediently kissed her, but when he walked to the door, it seemed to him that he was very far from her, rejected and very young.
The next morning he woke up feeling that today was a very important day; then he remembered. Senator Billings was due to arrive this morning, passing from the first-class train to the airplane, from the airplane to the ambulance, and the heavy body, which had managed to contain and spew so much nonsense in the last thirty years, was finally to be placed at the disposal of reasonable people.
“I will diagnose the old man,” he thought cynically, “even if I have to invent a new disease to do so.”
This morning routine work made him feel tired. Perhaps Dr. Norton will leave this tidbit for himself, and will not let Bill take a look? But at eleven in the morning, he met his boss in the hallway.
“The Senator has arrived,” he said. – I made a preliminary diagnosis. Go take a history. Conduct an examination as quickly as possible and do standard tests on him.
“Okay,” Bill said, but without much zeal. All his enthusiasm seems to have vanished. Taking instruments and a form of a medical record, he went to the Senator’s chamber.
“Good morning,” he began. – A little tired from the road?
The barrel-shaped man rolled over and looked at him.
“Exhausted,” he squeaked unexpectedly. – At all.
Bill was not surprised; he himself felt as if he had traveled thousands of miles in all kinds of carriages, and his insides, including his brains, were shaken into one whipped lump.
He took a medical file.
– What is your profession?
– Legislator.
– Do you drink alcohol?
The Senator raised himself on one elbow and burst into a tirade:
– Take it easy, young man; my opponents will never wait for this! As long as the eighteenth amendment is in effect … – then he died.
– Do you drink alcohol? Bill repeated patiently.
– Well, yes.
– In what quantities?
– Several cups, daily.I do not think. By the way, look in my briefcase, there is my X-ray of the lungs. I did it several years ago.
Bill took out the picture, looked and felt that everyone around him suddenly went crazy.
“This is a picture of the belly, and the belly of a woman,” he said.
“Oh, they got it all mixed up,” the senator said. – This is my wife!
Bill went to the shower room to clean the thermometer. When he returned, he began to check the senator’s pulse and was surprised when he noticed that the senator was looking at him in a strange way.
– What’s the matter? The senator asked. – Who is the patient here – you or me? He jerked his hand out of Bill’s. – You have icy hands. And you also put a thermometer in your mouth!
It was only at that moment that Bill realized how bad he was. He hit the nurse’s call button, staggered and sank into the chair, pain after wave of wave in his stomach.
III
He woke up with the feeling that he had spent many hours in bed. A feverish pulse pounded in his head, a penetrating weakness was felt throughout his body, and he was awakened by new bouts of abdominal pain.Across the room, Dr. George Schultz sat in an armchair, the familiar form of a medical record in his lap.
“What the hell,” Bill said weakly. – What the hell is this with me? What happened?
“It’s okay,” said George. – Just lie down.
Bill tried to sit up in bed but found himself too weak.
– Lie down! He repeated skeptically. “Who do you think I am – some stupid patient?” I ask you what happened to me?
– This is what we are trying to find out.By the way, how old are you?
– How old! Bill exclaimed. – One hundred and ten in the shade! My name is Al Capone, I have been on the needle for a long time. Scribble this on your damn piece of paper and send it to Santa Claus. I ask you, what’s wrong with me?
“And my answer is that this is what we’re trying to find out,” George replied firmly, but slightly nervously. – Now calm down.
– Calm down! Bill exclaimed. – I have a fever, and a feeble-minded intern sits next to me and asks how many fillings I have in my teeth! Put me a thermometer and get out of here!
“Okay, okay,” George said conciliatoryly.- I was just about to …
He put the thermometer in Bill’s mouth and started counting his pulse, but Bill mumbled, “I’ll check my own pulse,” and pulled his hand away. Two minutes later, George silently took out the thermometer and went with it to the window – and this act of treachery made Bill jump out of bed.
– I’ll look at the thermometer myself! He exclaimed. – Hey, you! I want to know what’s on the thermometer!
George quickly shook off the mercury column and put the instrument back in its case.
“We don’t do that here,” he said.
– Really? Well, then I’ll go where people with brains work!
George prepared a syringe and two small glass plates.
Bill groaned.
– Do you really think that I will let you do this? Everything that you know about blood biochemistry, I taught you! Oh my God, but I even did your homework for you, and here you are and are going to poke a hole in my hand!
As always, sweating profusely with excitement, George called a nurse, hoping that the woman’s presence would calm Bill. But the woman was not the same.
– Another idiot! Bill exclaimed as she entered. – Do you think that I will lie there and endure all this bedlam? Why isn’t anyone coming to me? Why won’t anyone do anything? Where is Dr. Norton?
– It will be during the day.
– In the afternoon? Yes, I’ll be in the grave during the day! Why isn’t he in the morning? I went to some social party, and I have to wallow here surrounded by boobies who have lost their minds and are not even aware of it! What are you writing there? That my “tongue protrudes freely, there is no tremor”? Give me shoes and a robe! I want to tell everyone that it is high time to hide you in a psychiatric hospital!
They put him to bed, from where he began to look at George with endless reproach.
– You, to whom I myself explained the whole course of toxicology, are you going to diagnose me? Well, come on! What do I have? Why is my belly on fire? Is it appendicitis? What is the white blood cell count?
– How can I know the level of leukocytes when you …
Letting out a sigh filled with endless despair over human stupidity, Bill relaxed, having exhausted all his strength.
Dr. Norton arrived at two o’clock. His presence should have had a beneficial effect, but by this moment the patient was already in strong nervous excitement.
“Listen, Bill,” he said dryly. “I got a rumor that you’re not letting George examine your throat?”
“Because I almost choked when he deliberately shoved the stack deeper,” Bill exclaimed. – As soon as I get to my feet, I’ll shove a board down his throat myself!
– Well, that’s enough. Are you aware that young Miss Carey is crying? She says she will quit her job. She says that no one has ever disappointed her so much.
– Likewise. Tell her I’ll quit my job too. After all this, I want to kill people, not heal. Nobody even tried to help me when it was needed!
An hour later, Dr. Norton stood up.
– Well, Bill, I’m taking you at your word and telling you how things are. I will open the cards and say that we do not know what is wrong with you. They just brought in a morning X-ray, and now we’re sure it’s not a gallbladder. There is a possibility of acute food poisoning, as well as thrombosis of the mesenteric vessels, or it is something else. Give us a chance, Bill.
With an effort, not without the help of a sedative, Bill regained relative control – but lost his temper again the next morning when George Schultz arrived to give him a subcutaneous injection of the nutrient solution.
– But I can’t stand the drip! – Bill was furious. – I hate injections, and giving you a needle in your hands is like giving a baby a machine gun!
– Dr. Norton ordered not to give you anything by mouth.
– Then let’s go intravenously.
– It’s better this way.
– What will I do to you when I get well! I’ll stuff you with anything until you look like a keg! I will do it! I’ll hire someone to hold you!
Forty-eight hours later, Dr. Norton and Dr. Schultz met for a consultation in the latter’s office.
“That’s it,” George said without any pity. – He refuses the operation in plain text.
– Um … – Dr. Norton thought about it. – This is bad.
– There is a clear danger of perforation.
– And you say that his main objection …
– … that I made the diagnosis. He says that I remembered the phrase “intestinal volvulus” from some book, and now I’m trying to find out what it is. – George added, embarrassed: – he, of course, always dominated, but I have never seen this. Today he announced that he had acute pancreatitis, but did not indicate any convincing symptoms.
– Does he know that I agree with your opinion?
“He doesn’t seem to trust anyone,” George replied, again embarrassed.- He talks about his father all the time; he believes that he would have helped him if he was alive.
“I wish there was someone outside the hospital who he believed,” Norton said. He got an idea: “What if …” He picked up the phone and said to the telephone operator, “Find Mrs. Singleton, she is Dr. Darphy’s anesthesiologist.” As soon as she is free, ask her to come to me.
***
Bill wearily opened his eyes when Thea entered the room. It was about eight in the evening.
“It’s you,” he muttered.
She sat down on the edge of the bed and put her hand over his.
“Hi Bill,” she said.
– Hello.
He suddenly turned in bed and covered her hand with both hands. Her free hand touched his head.
“You’re bad,” she said.
– What to do …
For half an hour she sat silently next to him; then she changed her position so that now her hand was under his head. Leaning over to him, she kissed his forehead. He said:
– For the first time in four days, I have forgotten a little, and then only because you are near.
After a while she said:
– Three months ago, Dr. Darfi operated on a patient with volvulus and all went well.
– But it’s not guts! He exclaimed. – Volvulus is when the intestines are twisted around themselves in a loop! This is Schultz’s stupid invention! He wants to make a difficult diagnosis and become famous!
– Dr. Norton agrees with him.Bill, you have to agree too. I will be by your side all the time, as I am now.
Her quiet voice acted as a sedative; he felt his resistance weakening; two large tears rolled down his eyes.
“I feel so helpless,” he admitted. – How do I know if Schultz has brains in his head?
“You’re just a child,” she replied softly. “You will get more than Dr. Schultz if his guess is correct.
He suddenly grabbed onto her.
– If everything goes well, will you become mine?
She laughed.
– What selfishness! Found when to bargain! You are unlikely to be an interesting game if you stay with twisted guts.
He was silent.
“I wrote my will yesterday,” he said. – I divided everything in half: half for my old aunt, half for you.
She pressed her face to him:
– I will pay off now, although nothing serious has happened to you.
“Well, okay.” His pale, haggard face relaxed. – Do what you want.

An hour later, Bill was taken upstairs on a gurney. As soon as he made a decision, all his nervousness disappeared, and he remembered the feeling of confidence that Dr.Durphy’s hands had instilled in him when he looked at his work a month ago, in July, and remembered who would be at his head, watching him. … His last feeling before the gas began to take effect was unexpected jealousy towards Dr. Darfi, who would stay awake next to Thea while he slept …
… When he woke up, he was taken on a gurney along the corridor to the ward.Dr. Norton and Dr. Schultz, both very pleased, walked beside him.
“Hello, hello,” Bill exclaimed, not quite awake yet. – Listen, what did you find at Senator Billings?
“It was a common cold, Bill,” Dr. Norton said. “He was sent back west by airship, helicopter, and a freight elevator.
“That’s how it is,” Bill said; and then, after a while: – I feel terrible.
“It’s over,” Dr. Norton assured him.- In a week you will be like a cucumber. Our George is an excellent diagnostician.
“The operation was excellent,” George said modestly. – Another six hours – and there would have been a perforation of the intestinal loop.
“The anesthesia was great too,” Dr. Norton said, winking at George. – Like a lullaby!
Thea ran to visit Bill the next morning – he came to, the wound began to hurt a little less, he was still weak, but his composure returned. She sat down on the bed next to him.
“I behaved like a real fool,” he admitted.
– Many doctors behave this way when they themselves first get sick. They are losing their nerves.
– Probably everyone will turn their backs on me …
– Not at all. Of course, they will joke. One young talent has already written a verse for a concert in “Koktsidiana” – and she read from a piece of paper:
Intern Tulliver under chloroform
Dreamed that he was in heaven.
Not believing anyone, he made a decision:
I’m operating myself!
“I think I’ll take it,” Bill said.- When you are near, I can take anything; I love you so much. But it seems to me that after all this story you will perceive me as a schoolboy.
– If you fell ill for the first time at the age of forty, everything would be exactly the same.
“I heard your friend Darfi performed brilliantly as always,” he said in annoyance.
– Yes, – she agreed; and a minute later added: – He wants to break off his engagement and offered me to marry on my terms.
His heart sank.
– And what did you tell him?
– I said no.
Life returned to him again.
“Come to me,” he whispered. – Where is your hand? Will you come swim with me every night until September ends?
– Through the evening.
– Every evening.
“Okay, every night while it’s warm,” she conceded.
Thea stood up.
He saw that her gaze for a moment stopped on something distant and froze, as if looking for support there, in the distance; then she leaned over to him and kissed his hungry lips goodbye, and again disappeared under the cover of her personal secret, in those forests where only she hunted, along with past suffering and a memory that she could not share with anyone.
But the essence of all that was valuable in them, she was able to extract; she knew how to convey it so that it never disappeared. For a moment, Bill got more than his share, and he reluctantly let go of it.
“So far, this is my most interesting case,” he thought, falling asleep.
A song from the concert in “Koktsidiana” sounded in his head, and the chorus kept repeating and repeating, plunging him into a deep sleep:
Bam-tiddy – bam – bam,
Tiddy – bam – bam.
Three thousand years ago,
Three thousand years ago.

After three seasons, ABC canceled 8 easy rules in May 2005 due to low ratings.

Death of Ritter
The first three episodes of the second season of the series ended when Ritter experienced discomfort during rehearsals on the afternoon of September 11, 2003.Crew members took him to the nearby Providence St. Joseph Medical Center hospital, where he was mistakenly diagnosed with a “heart attack,” causing his condition to worsen when doctors later diagnosed him with aortic dissection. He died that evening at the age of 54. Following Ritter’s death, ABC announced that 8 Simple Rules would continue beyond the break and include the death of Ritter’s character. Three new episodes, which Ritter completed, were aired with an introduction by Sagal.
8 “Simple Rules” returned two months after Ritter’s death with a one-hour episode “Goodbye,” which was turned into a tribute to Ritter’s character. Subsequent episodes focused on the family’s reaction to his death and how they moved on. The first four episodes after Ritter were filmed without a live audience, with James Garner and Suzanne Pleshett as Keith’s strict parents, and David Spade as Keith’s wayward nephew, C.J. Barnes. Garner and Spade later received starring roles to fill the void left by Ritter for the remainder of the series.
Third season and cancellation
Before Ritter’s death, 8 “Simple Rules” took 42nd place in Nielsen’s rankings. It dropped to 50th place after Ritter’s death, but was relaunched for a third season, in which ABC rescheduled the episode to Friday at 8:00 p.m. as part of the TGIF comedy lineup. Creator and show runner Tracy Gamble left the series for a while due to creative differences ahead of season three, but later returned mid-season as a consulting producer.Gamble was replaced by Judd Pilot and John Peasley, who played the same role in the final season of Just Shoot Me! The series plunged into 94th place in the rankings. Even before the Season 3 finale aired, rumors began to circulate that Ritter’s death and the poor rating of the 8 Simple Rules were in danger of being canceled. Death Slot’s ratings dropped by 8 simple rules on Friday night. The third season finale did not air for the May sweeps. The final received a 3.9 / 8 rating share, placing ABC in third place behind NBC’s Dayline (5.8 / 11) and CBS’s Jeanne Arcadia (4.9 / 10), directed by Ritter’s son Jason.ABC officially canceled 8 simple rules in May 2005.
Syndication
While the ratings of the 8 Simple Rules were significantly higher than those surrounding the TGIF show during the third season of the show, ABC canceled it due to its perceived inability to syndicate reruns of the show (the fourth season would have given the show the 100 episodes required to enter the daily syndication).
On July 11, 2005 (less than two months after ABC officially canceled the show), the WB network announced that it would air all 76 episodes of 8 Simple Rules with 16.00 to 17.00 as part of the replacement of the children’s WB with a daytime WB block aimed at a wider audience. The show aired on weekdays from January 2, 2006 to September 15, 2006, when it was replaced by Reba following the merger of UPN and The WB into The CW.
On Tuesday, June 12, 2007, the show joined the ABC Family lineup, airing weekdays from 6:00 to 19:00. In September 2008, the show began airing from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, continuing at that time until October 10, 2008. On October 3, 2009, 8 Simple Rules returned to ABC Family, which had been absent for a year, airing on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, and on Sundays from 11:00 to 12:00 pm.On February 8, 2010, the series was added back to ABC Family’s list of days of the week, airing from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm ET, replacing The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. After months of absence, 8 Simple Rules resumed on ABC Family at 7:00 p.m. ET on select morning weekends beginning July 18, 2010. In mid-December 2012, 8 simple rules were removed from the ABC Family list of days of the week, which will only be added in September 2013. The series was removed from the network again in 2014.
The series began airing in the UK on Disney Channel in 2003, with episodes being edited for a children’s audience. It was taken on air by ABC1, which broadcast it until the channel closed in 2007. In the same year, Channel 5 began airing the 1st season of the series. Since 2008, all three seasons of the show have aired on 5Serie aired without air on subsequent channels after being canceled by Disney. Both Channel 5 and Series 5 aired in their original widescreen format.
Danish TV3 and Canadian channels YTV and ABC Spark (the Canadian version of Freeform) also aired the series.

ᐅ Oregon Scientific BAR808HG reviews – 32 honest customer reviews of Oregon Scientific BAR808HG
digital weather station
Best Deals for Oregon Scientific BAR808HG
Guest, 11.08.2018
Advantages:
Convenient, clear. Relatively accurate (as the support service said – this is a household appliance: + – 10-15% accuracy in humidity and 1-2 degrees in temperature)
Disadvantages:
Sensors show different temperatures, + – 2 degrees, the internal station overestimates. Humidity even with a humidifier is suspiciously low, above 35% has not yet risen.Accordingly, all the readings can be trusted approximately
Comment:
I took it in connection with the birth of a child, and was a little disappointed, I realized that it was necessary to take an ordinary hygrometer and thermometer, and the price would be almost 10 times lower and the readings could be trusted. And the weather station does not know whether to believe it or not and how much, when every degree is important. It’s like with electronic thermometers, if you want to know for sure if the child has a temperature – use mercury, the electronic one will lie anyway.
Ital Michael, 21.07.2018
Advantages:
Appearance. Build quality. High quality plastic. Looks expensive. Quality of work. To please the guests. Price – quality among competitors (although I don’t see them).
Disadvantages:
There is no constant power source, it would be nice if the backlight would always work.
Comment:
I read the reviews below and decided to write. I have been using Bar 806 for 4 years, Bar 808 for 2 years. Why fence you all sorts of boxes for sensors? The manufacturer has provided everything, the sensor hanging on the window frame on the street is not afraid of rain, frost, or sun !!! Both have been hanging for 4 and 2 years !!! If you are afraid that it will fall from the 16th floor, like mine, then press it on top with a self-tapping screw. I “hung” one station on two channels, respectively, and the second on two sensors. Glitch questions, etc.no at all. Show everything clearly. I also have an Inch photo frame, also with a weather station function and a wireless sensor, so all three stations work with minimal error from each other. I was not careful to give my friends a competitor “E …” for the new year, bought 3 pieces and presented them, now it’s a shame, they lie at everyone in a terrible way, and the display wants the best. If you decide to buy a weather station, then Oregon is the best among the manufacturers. Take the model for a simpler, but only Oregon, you will not regret it. Many other manufacturers have a wireless sensor, but then a catch (check with the seller) when it turns out that there is another wire from the wireless sensor, i.e.That is, you need to drill a hole in the frame, throw out a thermal conductor there, which transmits a signal to a wireless sensor located in your room. Complete nonsense. It’s good if the frame is wooden and you can clamp the wire between the frame and the window, but who has PVC? I recommend to all.
Savv Rustam, 02/25/2017
Advantages:
Backlit screen, solar battery, supports 3 external sensors.
Disadvantages:
Everything is fine, but the external sensor “fell off” after a month and is not located by the station. The station itself lies a lot in the readings – it overestimates the temperature by 2-3 degrees!
Comment:
Better to take another one.
Dmitrienko Maxim, 12.10.2016
Advantages:
Accuracy of readings, all buttons in front, solar battery, the ability to hang on a wall or furniture, time synchronization by radio signal
Disadvantages:
I haven’t found any shortcomings
Comment:
For a long time I doubted whether to take this model or not, T.because a lot of negative reviews. But I made up my mind and took it, since I did not find any analogues. And he did not regret a single drop. The connection with the street sensor does not lose, if you do not expect miracles from it (the house is panel, it catches through one reinforced concrete wall, it does not catch through 2 walls). It measures temperature and humidity equally accurately on both indoor and outdoor units. I kept it in a box at work for three days and then in a box at home for three days to make sure the readings were identical. Time is synchronized once a day via a radio signal from Germany (within a radius of 1500 km, it is normal in Vladimir). The time zone must be set to “2” for the correct time.
Charulin Konstantin, 06/28/2016
Advantages:
Appearance, a kind of tablet on a stand
Disadvantages:
Heap, bought to determine air humidity both inside and outside the room (i.e.That is, as a hygrometer), it lies terribly, especially the forecast for the day.
Comment:
If you need to find out the temperature inside and outside, buy it, not much deceive, the rest of the functions are like bait. If you need accurate information on humidity, it is better to buy a vit-1 hygrometer, simple and accurate.
DenisGS, 01/30/2016
Advantages:
Looks aesthetically pleasing. The temperature can be trusted
Disadvantages:
The humidity sensor on the external unit is shamelessly lying. Indoors, it more or less showed the same as the indoor unit (2% discrepancy). But on the street he is mistaken by 20-30 percent. Now it is foggy, the temperature is about + 2C, everything is in the clouds. And it shows 62% (other sensors report about 91%). Accordingly, the station predicts sunny weather in the near future, which is never true.
Izyurov Nikolay, 25.01.2016
Advantages:
Nice display: location of indicators, contrast, backlight, alc. batteries
Disadvantages:
very unreliable sensor-base radio channel
Comment:
Worked normally for a week, then the base began to lose the remote sensor. I tried to change the location, distance, batteries – all in vain, and after each loss of the sensor, it was necessary to reset the base with the loss of all settings, respectively.I handed this device back to the store. I do not recommend buying
Guest, 12/15/2015
Advantages:
Appearance, build quality, recharging from a solar battery, large fonts, convenient controls, a beautiful external sensor, radio time correction (although in Chelyabinsk, of course, it does not work), good backlighting, albeit not long. It’s a great idea to show warnings about fog, frost, heat and other weather events, there are phases of the moon.
Disadvantages:
Temperature and humidity readings from a parallel universe. More details in the comments.
Comment:
I took this model and to be honest, I was very disappointed. That the base, that the external sensor show anything other than temperature and humidity. The temperature on the base is overestimated by 4-6 degrees, on the sensor by 8-10. An outdoor mercury thermometer shows – 25, station -16.The temperature in the apartment is also a very sad situation. On the windowsill, it shows a temperature of 26 degrees, and in apartment 28, this is with an open window.
Regarding humidity, I will say that this device does not measure it at all. Shows 2% in the apartment, which, of course, is impossible. If you breathe on the sensors, then the humidity rises for a short time to 50-60% and again drops to 2%.
I will not tell you anything about synchronization, since I live in Chelyabinsk, it does not work here (and should not).
The backlight is beautiful, but not long.
Summing up, I will say, maybe it was me who was not lucky with a particular instance, but I did not expect this from Oregon. In fact, this device worked for me for two days in clock and lunar calendar mode. The temperature cannot be trusted, the humidity is generally on the verge of fantasy.
For those who nevertheless decide to buy this model, check everything in the store for at least an hour, otherwise you may be overtaken by the same disappointment as me.
Stoletov, 22.11.2015
Advantages:
no.
Disadvantages:
overpriced. sensor separately 2/3 of the cost of the set. no screen. visible only from a certain angle. the readings are inaccurate. the forecast is complete nonsense. immediately after the end of the warranty, the temperature from the sensor went down with a difference of 2 TIMES from the real one.
Litvinov Anatoly, 13.11.2015
Advantages:
Accuracy. Visibility. Solar battery. Build quality. Batteries both at the station and on the sensor have been kept on the street for 2 winters (1.5 years) from -30.
Disadvantages:
Sometimes inaccuracy of readings can reach 1 degree, which is not critical.
Comment:
I am quite satisfied with the device. Very easy to use.
Potapov Andrey, 18.02.2015
Pluses:
Completely satisfied. The external sensor spent over a year outside the window without any complaints. In the station itself, 3 AA batteries lasted about a year. Measurement accuracy at altitude, compared with IVTM-7.
Disadvantages:
The weather forecast does not work at all, it is raining and there is not a cloud outside the window.
Comment:
I recommend to everyone who trusts technology more than “everyone walks without hats, it means it’s warm outside”
Nazarova Victoria, 31.07.2014
Advantages:
measures temperature
Disadvantages:
Strong errors in measuring humidity. On the street now about 80%, shows 48%. The support service replied that this is absolutely normal, since the station is not professional, it does not pass checks, its passport does not contain the permissible measurement accuracy. In general, from the words of support, we can conclude: since the station is not a professional, then there is no demand from it, if you think that it is showing incorrectly, then prove it, otherwise these are not our problems, but yours.
Comment:
I do not recommend this model and this manufacturer
Kim Evgeniy, 07/18/2014
Advantages:
Would write the price, but when money is wasted, even small, it is rather a disadvantage.
Disadvantages:
The external sensor must be placed so that moisture, sunlight, wind, etc. do not enter.in fact in an insulated box. where to find such a place, and the readings will not coincide with what is really on the street. The most important thing is that at minus 10 it no longer shows with a lithium battery or with any other. Humidity shows 3% when the humidifier is operating at full capacity in a meter from the sensor. I think the readings are not accurate. Backlight – to turn on you need to find the device itself in the dark, then the button … why such a backlight?
Comment:
The most important thing is the accuracy of the readings, which I strongly doubt. And the fact that at minus 10 does not work, then in Russia in general it makes no sense to buy the device, because it is in frost or heat that the weather is most of all interested in.
Andrey Glazunov, 04/22/2014
Advantages:
The quality of materials and workmanship, appearance, easy-to-read readings, catches the exact time signal
Disadvantages:
I can’t say anything yet
Comment:
Works, shows temperature and humidity, time in St. Petersburg is synchronized.I can’t say anything bad, I like everything.
Sotnikova Angelica, 03/09/2014
Advantages:
I personally did not identify
Disadvantages:
almost no connection with an external sensor is detected, it does not show the weather forecast and air temperature terribly, or rather, the screen is complete nonsense
Comment:
I’ll start with the fact that the device is terrible lying (about 5-7 degrees).besides, the instructions for it are absolutely incomprehensible. it’s hard to figure out how to set it up at all! humidity is also a problem. either I live in the desert, or I came across a defective model. I don’t know what to think anymore. one conclusion suggests itself: this contraption is lying all the time! So, I regretted that I had bought it ((
Alekseev Alexey, 01.21.2014
Advantages:
Nice appearance, location of information on the display
Disadvantages:
Draws a picture of the weather from the bulldozer, it never matches. The design of the case is unreasonable. There are software bugs. It does not show the pressure value, which, together with poor weather prediction, suggests that the sensor there is some kind of completely cheap and inaccurate.
Comment:
Temperature sensors are quite accurate.
I never guessed the weather. For the second day it has been showing rain, but the sun as it was and is, even dense cloudiness does not work. The weather icon is shown according to some algorithm that is guided by it.
On the main unit, no one needs a solar battery, from which there is zero sense (except that marketers are good at it), but because of this they removed the backlight button from above. You can say no backlighting, because you cannot press the backlight button with one hand (the station simply goes back along the surface, because the rubber feet were not made for it either). To turn on the backlight, you will have to wrap your hand around the station. It’s easier to shine a flashlight.
If you disable the temperature sensor, the station will stop showing the temperature, but the communication icon with the sensor will show that there is communication. So there is zero sense with this pictogram.
The temperature sensors are very well made outwardly, but inside they are not the best quality Chinese crafts, the boards are filled with flux residues, and the sensors are glued to hot melt glue.
The “Ice Alert” lamp is conceived as a glowing snowflake, but due to the excessively high brightness of the LED, no snowflake is visible.
The days of the week in the Russian version are shown as “VN”, “PA”, these are Tuesday and Friday. Doesn’t know how to show “T”, that’s why it is.
My opinion is that the price for a product of this level is somewhat overpriced, given that it does not fulfill its main function.
Guest, 11.12.2013
Advantages:
Design is possible
Disadvantages:
Inaccurate readings
Comment:
Received as a gift. I made a purchase in advance because I read the reviews and the opinion was controversial. I have an analog weather station near my house (barometer, hydrometer, thermometer) that works flawlessly and the accuracy of readings is close to 100%.Let’s go back to the fact that the purchase was made in advance to make sure the readings are accurate and not to give the best friend the bullshit that this station is. Precisely shows the time and more or less the temperature, and the humidity is lying and strong. For the sake of experiment, put the sensor next to the humidifier 24% laugh! Gentlemen, I strongly recommend that you think about it!
Guest, 10/25/2013
Advantages:
Works fine. The battery pack lasts for a couple of years. In practice, the radio signal passes without problems through 3 brick walls and a total distance of about 30m.
Disadvantages:
When working with two or three sensors, if you buy separate sensors, be careful, external sensors are produced with two EU / UK radio bands. Accordingly, all sensors must be of the same series.
Comment:
If communication with the external sensor is lost:
1. Check the channels in the sensor and BAR808 (when changing the channel and changing the battery, press the reset on the external sensor)
2.Try toggle EU / UK in the battery compartment (some models do not have a switch).
3. Simultaneously press and hold the UP button and MODE for 2 seconds (manual search for the sensor)
Guest, 09/15/2013
Advantages:
Convenient station, in the main station I have not changed the batteries for a year, at the expense of the remote sensor, even in the cold, cheap GPs work, (in any supermarket there are 10 pieces for sale) only about once every 1.5 months you need to change Showed me-25,
Disadvantages:
one minus when the thaw and humidity are more than 95 percent, the sensor falls off the station completely (and only for some reason at night), you can easily remove the battery, put it back on and cut it on the sensor, and at the main station you put a forced search and everything is chocolate, well, I put the sensor on the battery for another hour to remove moisture)))))
Comment:
In general, it’s okay, change the battery on the sensor twice a winter and that’s it, autumn, winter, summer without any problems, put the dachik under the visor and that’s it, it’s on my loggia and it’s normal
Pokhilchenko Nikolay, 08.07.2013
Pluses:
Beautiful. Large numbers of temperature. Measures tesperatuity accurately. Good look and feel. Excellent weather forecast – almost never wrong. Maybe you hung up the outdoor sensor successfully?
Disadvantages:
Had to work hard to find a good location for the sensor. In a dark hallway, a solar cell is useless.
Comment:
Thing.Unfortunately, it is not often that such high-quality goods come into our hands. I turned it in my hands, looked at it – everything was clear, the details fit well, the surface quality looked good. Works without question! I did not expect that it would be so accurate in predicting precipitation. Of course, not strictly in 12 hours, but if it shows clearly in the evening, don’t expect rain until lunchtime, although the Internet gives a different forecast. But it happens that the forecast changes from “clear” to “precipitation” only 4-6 hours before it starts to drizzle. In general, it fits into its 75% reliability with a margin.
Choose a place for the sensor carefully, up to the hassle of visors and rods, so that the heat from the windows does not interfere.
Kanunnikov Evgeniy, 03/21/2013
Advantages:
Simple and reliable !!!
Disadvantages:
Not found yet
Comment:
Bought installed once NORMAL !!!! and forgot, the child appeared in the family an irreplaceable thing in the morning got up for a walk and you know how to dress the baby. When buying, I personally checked it, left it on the first night in the apartment, both sensors showed the temperature with a difference of 0.1c, the humidity shows everything is fine. Not expensive and nice and COMFORTABLE !!!!
Medvedev Vitaly, 02/06/2013
Advantages:
Nice backlight, weather forecast for the next 12 hours, display of moon phases, power from a solar battery, thereby extending the life of conventional batteries, warning messages, measurement of indoor and outdoor humidity.Well, and a low price, I bought it in an online store.
Disadvantages:
In my opinion, no, price – quality. And as for how some indicate inaccurate temperature readings outside the window, I will answer CORRECTLY ATTACH THE STREET SENSOR and you will have everything OK
Comment:
Recently I became the owner of the Oregon Scientific BAR808
After smoking the forum I decided to move the sensor away from the window a little in order to achieve more or less accurate readings! There were no questions about how to protect the sensor from moisture, as there was a balcony on the second floor above us …The visor, so to speak, is excellent both from the rain and from the sun, what the doctor ordered (always dry and in the shade). I built a structure from an aluminum strip. Now the sensor has been moved 80 cm away from the window. Well, the accuracy of the readings has increased! I checked it, I picked up three !!! alcohol thermometers that show the same temperature, hung them side by side on all three readings -5 degrees and at the weather station also -5, so that in this way he achieved what he actually wanted. Since it’s winter outside, I immediately put an ENERGIZER lithium battery in the sensor while the sensor survived -12, we’ll see how it will survive the normal flight – 20, the other day they promise. The station is located at a distance of 5 meters from the sensor, the signal has not been lost for a week even once! I even tried moving the station to another room, the signal is on, the sensor does not fall off! In principle, the wishes were as follows: early in the morning, do not shine a flashlight on the thermometer outside the window in order to squint to see how many degrees there are! And there is also a pleasant backlight, weather forecast for the next 12 hours, display of moon phases, power from a solar battery, warning messages, Measurement of indoor and outdoor humidity.Generally satisfied with the station. Functionality, low price, quality!
Dmitry Sergeevich, 01/23/2013
Advantages:
01/19/17 beautiful design, good lighting. More or less correctly shows the temperature in the apartment.02/20/17 I handed it back to the store and returned the money. You don’t need a fortuneteller who lies. Recognized as a marriage.
Disadvantages:
everything is lying. The temperature outside the window shows 3 degrees lower than mercury. Humidity is also purely symbolic. In an apartment, the humidity above 30e rises and this is provided that the humidifier smokes all day (there is even fog in the room), and when the window is open, the humidity drops to 2that at 68 and the window at a temperature of -20, I xs but this is nonsense to mine. The weather naturally predicts 50/50.
Comment:
I bought mostly for measuring humidity in the house and temperature outside the window. It turned out to be a waste of money. Before taking this station, I read a lot of reviews. very disappointed. the lowest price for December 2016. took for 2950.
Belkov Andrey, 15.12.2012
Advantages:
I have been using the device for more than a year now and there are no complaints about work.Batoreek lasts for a very long time (never changed). The sensors (with standard batoreics) survived the -38 frost (at a distance of 10 m from the base) without any problems. Time synchronizes within 30-40 minutes, the signal is received normally (Taldom district, Moscow Region)
Disadvantages:
The difference in the readings of the sensors is approx. 5-8%
Chagin Denis, 25.10.2012
Advantages:
beautiful
wall and desktop installation
Disadvantages:
outdoor sensor – full free
in this regard, at temperatures below zero, the station turns into a room thermometer
Comment:
Bought – inserted the supplied battery
hung the sensor on the street
the battery froze – I read the manual
while I was looking for a lithium battery
for two days, the sensor lived quietly in the apartment and the values coincided with the base
inserted a lithium battery (by the way, it costs 200 re)
placed the sensor !!! in line of sight of the base outside the window at a distance of 3 meters !!!
outside minus 7 – the base showed a decrease in temperature to plus four
then the blade of the
PS sensor – the case turned out to be in the sensor…
bought an additional sensor for 600 re – it works fine.
a broken sensor cannot be changed – there is no normal service in St. Petersburg – they take only the entire station and take it to Moscow – the term is somewhere around a month
Therefore, one star …
Unfortunately …
Me Hack, 24.10.2012
Pluses:
Everything described in another review.Nothing extra.
Disadvantages:
Unfortunately, you cannot display the day of the week and the date at the same time. That is, either the time and day of the week, or a date with the indication of the year (they could display the day of the week instead of the year).
Comment:
The function of synchronizing the exact time in Russia works (if you set the switch to the EU mode, not UK). At the very least, my windows face the South-East and from the 9th floor the exact time signal can be caught quite well. I compared with NTP readings.I could not see the difference with my eyes, that is, the accuracy during synchronization is within one second. For Moscow, you need to set a time offset of 2 hours (the signal transmitter is located in Frankfurt).
Andreevich Alexander, 24.10.2012
Advantages:
large display, large numbers – especially the outside temperature, despite the abundance of numbers and symbols – there is no feeling of loading the display, a minimum of control buttons (which are conveniently located outside) and ease of settings, the ability to hang on the wall – then the backlight button is convenient to use, high-quality assembly, arrows indicate an increase-decrease in pressure, temperature.humidity, time synchronization with Germany (for 2500 km it works for me).
Disadvantages:
overpriced, dubious readings of air humidity, not bright display backlight, and the backlight button is not located on top
Comment:
Before buying, I smoked a lot of forums. I learned a lot of interesting things about air humidity (measurement technique, readings, forecasts of weather forecasters). Despite numerous reviews about incorrect readings of the humidity device, my choice was deliberate and about 2 thousand spent.I don’t regret it (it makes no sense to take it more expensive, since there are good options for temperature and clock readings, simpler and much cheaper), because I wanted a large display and a stylish design, well, psychologically I want to believe that with an external humidity sensor, the device is more technologically advanced and more accurate BAR808 without indices HG. The correct temperature reading depends a lot on the sensor installation (a lot has been said about that).
According to the data indicated by the manufacturer, the weather predicts 75% – even one can say even more accurately, although it can sharply “lie” (when the sun is shining for two days, the device can show rain).
In general, the station itself has a sensor that reacts to changes in air pressure, hence the weather forecast comes from – this principle is laid down in all home stations.
When buying for at least an hour, check the station by placing an external sensor next to it – the temperature difference on the display (internal and external) should not differ by more than 0.1-0.2 degrees.
The humidity of the readings can be adjusted (but in no case according to the website and media forecasts of the weather) and add the error yourself or make sure and believe the device, for example, I have 35% in my room, but also small wet rags (damp laundry after washing) for the night dry up when the heating was turned off, the steel reading was 44%.
The external sensor needs some time to measure and process readings, plus many owners isolate it in various plastic containers, hence the low accuracy of information.

Advantages:
– temperature and humidity measurement In / Out
– weather forecast
– display backlight
– compact version
– price
– complete set
– availability of solar battery
– possibility of receiving up to 3 sensors
– possibility of wall mounting
Disadvantages:
no case
Comment:
This is a weather station and nothing more –
is what you need for this money (If it is important for someone it also has a lunar calendar. The automatic time synchronization function does not work in Russia (applies to any models), this is not a minus, just a fact.
Rus76690, 25.03.2012
Advantages:
Ease of use, quality and operating time
The station fits very well on the table and is used as a clock and a thermometer in the house)
Disadvantages:
The cost of the sensor 1.5k
Depending on the -40 / -35 batteries, the sensor is disconnected
The sensor stopped working, but I do not consider it a big drawback (more than 4 years)
The sensor cover opens through force
Comment:
My brother gave it to the DR, worked for more than 4 years.
I replaced the batteries in the sensor 2 times, and in the device itself 1 time (a total of 6-7 alkaline batteries were spent)
The solar panel also works properly, the orange backlight is soft for the eyes at night (but I would like a different color)
The sensor was not hung under direct lines rays, but without protection from water (rain and snow happened to fall on it)
Guest, 16.02.2012
Advantages:
Good visual indication of temperature.
Disadvantages:
Exactly a month later it stopped connecting to the sensor, it was possible to connect only by zeroing the sensor and the station, later the temperature change was very slow, after 2 months the weather station refused to show the temperature at all.
The problem turned out to be in the station itself and not in the street sensor.
Comment:
I bought a station of this company because I had a successful experience of operating 2 BAR206 stations.
Apparently you will have to buy BAR206 instead of this station

However, with all this prosperity and even abundance, having the opportunity to travel the world, receive any information, buy any things and products in the store, instead of constantly fighting for our existence, why are we still unhappy? Because in the modern rhythm of life, it is becoming more and more difficult to remain a Woman with a capital letter of this word. And what is dangerous – the very essence, the basis of the feminine principle – her feelings, desires, the power of love remains covered with oblivion. And a huge number of beautiful inhabitants of the planet are beating like a fish on ice, in search of their place under the sun, torn between the spiritual and the material, between the process and the result, feelings and duty.

Badboy Daniel “Virtuoso”
“We all know how important the INTERNAL GAME is, but have you ever stopped to ask yourself what the INTERNAL GAME really is? Was it when I just memorized the material very well, or maybe when I improved the clarity of my voice?
In fact, the Inner Play is based on confidence, beliefs and a general attitude towards life.Whether you realize it or not, your focus is constantly on the women you are talking to. If you have a strong, persistent and positive attitude towards life, women will naturally be attracted to you. As it happens with most straight people.
They develop these three aspects of their identity: confidence, belief and attitude towards life. When this happens, they start to feel more confident and start acting like a prize, which is definitely ATTRACTED to the WOMAN. ”
