For those who are unfamiliar with the sport, lacrosse is a fast-paced team field game. It’s easy to pick up the sport, and we have all the equipment to make it possible for beginners to come along. The Student Central Lacrosse club welcomes both novices and seniors.

What We Do
Student Central Lacrosse club has a range of teams which enables us to teach the game to novices and also develop the lacrosse skills and team ethos through competitive games within the South of England Men’s League which takes place on Saturdays. We have trainings on Wednesdays and start each session with a warm up followed by drills, defending and attacking practice led by our skilled coach and captain.

We play in a Saturday League – South of England Mens Lacrosse Association. We also attend a number of tournaments including the Flags tournament and SEMLA 6’s. Recently we went to the Prague International Competition and played against the Czech National Team. Main Aims
- To introduce a great new sport to those who have never even picked up a stick before!
- To stay accessible as one of the cheapest clubs on campus (£55 for the year with all equipment provided & training in walking distance!).
- To allow those who have already played lacrosse a chance to improve their skills and earn qualifications (we have coaching and ref courses!)

Equipment
All you need for lacrosse training is yourself here at QM!
We provide sticks and balls, but if you want to bring your own stick, feel free as well!
We play with women’s equipment as per mixed lacrosse rules and the only additional equipment you will need for matches is a non-white mouthguard.
We have a whole kit line with Rival Kit (https://rivalkit.com/collections/queen-mary-university-of-london-lacrosse-club) that you can purchase but this is totally optional!
We also can order personalised match tops with your name on the back and your own number if you want them – but we can loan you one for matches if you’d rather not!
Commitment Levels
Full members are expected to attend as many sessions on a Tuesday evening and Saturday morning as possible.
We also have matches on Sundays every couple of weeks.
We ask people to attend as many sessions as possible so that we can develop a real sense of teamwork and make sure that our team is performing at our highest possible level. However, we do understand that things come up, so please just send us a message before training to let us know you can’t make it.
We do encourage exercise and keeping fitness up to help you in training as well!
Social members are in it purely for the social events we do every couple of weeks. If you want to come to Hail Marys and be a part of the club without actually having to play (injured, no time), then social membership is perfect for you!

Personal Fitness
QMSU offers a gym on the Mile End campus, Qmotion, as well as a sister-gym in Charterhouse Square, Fitness to Practice, both with competitive student membership rates.
This is ideal for students who want to purchase a gym membership – which is separate from a Club Sport subs – to improve and maintain peak physical fitness.
With every gym membership, you get a free 60 minute one-to-one session with trained instructors which includes:
- A personalised gym programme tailored to your own fitness goals;
- A full demonstration of exercise and techniques, and guidance on resistance machines;
- Information and advice on nutrition;
- A 60 minute review session every 6-8 weeks to re-evaluate and re-customise a new programme to avoid plateaus.
Royal Holloway University, University of London
University Profile
Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL) is a public research institution, one of the colleges of the University of London. The institution appeared as a result of the merger in 1985 of two colleges – Bedford and Royal Holloway. Both were originally intended for higher education for women.
Bedford, the first college of its kind in Britain, was founded in 1849.year, Royal Holloway was inaugurated by Queen Victoria in 1886. Only in the middle of the 20th century did the university become a coeducational institution. Today, more than 11,000 students are educated here, of which about 2,000 are foreign students from 130 countries of the world.
The university is located in the town of Egem (Surrey), 30 kilometers from the center of London and 11 from Heathrow Airport. The 55-hectare RHUL campus is located in a park area. It is often referred to as the most beautiful university campus in the world.
The most impressive is the main building – Founder’s Building – an architectural monument of the 19th century, built of red brick, modeled on the French castle of Chambord in the Loire Valley. It houses an art gallery with a rich collection of Victorian paintings, a chapel, a dining room, a library, and a residence. In the 21st century, thanks to serious investments, several new facilities appeared: the Windsor Building conference center, a high-tech building of the Faculty of Radio Electronics (Beatrice Shilling buidling), a modern library with computer rooms and a Student Services Center, shops, cafes, a bank (Emily Wilding Davison Building).

University preparation programs are implemented through the ON CAMPUS educational center, owned by the Cambridge Education Group. This company has been specializing in such programs since 1952. It cooperates with 22 leading higher education institutions in the UK, Europe and the USA. The peculiarity of ON CAMPUS centers is that they are located on university campuses. This allows students to get acquainted with the chosen university and use all its resources. The quality of the programs is confirmed by QAA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) accreditation.

ON CAMPUS is located on the basis of Birkbeck College, which is also part of the University of London and is located on its main campus, in the Bloomsbury area, near the London School of Economics and the British Museum. Undergraduate Foundation Program (UFP) – a program for preparing foreign applicants for university admission, equivalent to the A-level standard.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student can apply for the first year of the bachelor’s degree or for the International Year One program. If he meets the established entrance requirements, he is guaranteed to be enrolled in Birkbeck College, and can also apply to any of the partner universities, including Royal Holloway. University of London International Foundation Program – a course to prepare foreign applicants for admission to a university, equivalent to the A-level standard. Teachers at the University of London develop educational programs, prepare teaching materials and are responsible for assessing students. The course is implemented strictly on the basis of certified centers (in this case, it is ONCAMPUS London). In case of successful mastering of the program, students are guaranteed to enter one of the partner universities (including Royal Holloway). With the certificate received, they can also apply to most universities in the country.
The course includes English lessons and 4 subject modules to choose from (mathematics and statistics, economics, international relations, sociology, law, pure mathematics, social psychology, statistics, politics, chemistry, biology, etc.). Study load – up to 25 hours per week. The duration of the program is 1 year (3 trimesters).
Course start dates: September.
International Year One (IY1) is a program for applicants who do not have sufficient grades in academic disciplines and / or the required level of English for direct admission to the undergraduate program, but have a higher level than UFP students. With the successful development of it, students can immediately enter the second year of universities located in London, in specialties related to business. The program is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.
The preparation includes 6 study modules in business and management disciplines plus English. The average load is 23-28 hours per week. Duration of the program: 1 year (3 trimesters of 7-8 weeks). Course start dates: September, January.
Extended International Year One – an extended course for applicants with an insufficient level of English (IELTS from 5.0 to 5.5). The program includes a language module (1 trimester) and an IY1 program (3 trimesters).
Course start dates: June, September.
Master’s Foundation Program (MFP) is a program that prepares international students for admission to a master’s program. If he meets the established entrance requirements, he is guaranteed to be enrolled in Birkbeck College. With a diploma, they can also apply to most universities in the country, including partner universities of the ON CAMPUS center (including Royal Holloway). Depending on the level of preparation, the duration of the program can be 2 or 3 trimesters.
All students study English and 2 required modules – a research project and academic skills. In the second and third trimesters, 1-2 disciplines in the chosen profile will be added to these subjects. Extended Master’s Foundation Program – an advanced course for applicants with an insufficient level of English (IELTS – 5.
0). The program includes a language module (1 trimester) and an MFP program (3 trimesters). Course start dates: September, June.
University of London Graduate Diploma is a program for university graduates of any direction who wish to obtain additional qualifications or prepare for admission to a master’s program in finance and management. Suitable for those whose diploma of higher education does not meet for some reason the criteria established for entering the master’s program in finance and management. The course includes a module in English and 4 modules in core subjects. Teaching load – up to 22 hours a week. The program has been developed in collaboration: the London School of Economics provides academic guidance, the University of London conducts examinations and awards qualifications.
Available directions: Finance (finance), Management (management). Duration of the program: 1 year (3 trimesters of 7-8 weeks). Course start dates: September.
For all courses: English lessons are required if the level of language proficiency is below the required level for university admission.
Classes are integrated into the teaching of academic disciplines. If necessary, additional English lessons are organized. Students with a high level of language proficiency study in an abbreviated program.
