Yuzhnouralskaya Residence of Father Frost! New Year’s adventures of heroes! 2020 – 2021! Thank you for the wonderful New Year’s mood, the plot. Your heroes are smart!Team of the Pravoberezhny Center for Children’s Art in Magnitogorsk
I come to the Ural Dawns camp every year. For the 3rd time I got to change “Next Level” (January 2021). I really like to dance, but I’m not good at it and I’m embarrassed to go to dance clubs in the city. But when I come to the Ural Dawns, my skills improve every year thanks to choreographers and Ilya Kozhanov, I find true friends here and support from teachers and counselors. Sometimes I am sad to leave this camp, but I know for sure that I will come here again.
Antimonov Dmitry, 8th detachment
I really liked the new program “Accelerator of Leaders” at the Uralskiye Dawns (January 2-8, 2021). It was interesting, I learned a lot and in general I was very comfortable in the classroom. It was not like standard lessons, there were no lessons familiar to us. We talked with teachers from Chelyabinsk State University and thanks to an informal approach, we learned much more than if it were in a standard form. I really liked the prizes. It was unexpected to win a gaming computer mouse. and happy for all the winners! Excellent living conditions – comfortable, warm and very convenient! I will definitely come to the Ural Dawns for a specialized leadership program.

At the end, each hero winner received a sweet prize. Additionally, as an order – beautiful weather, watching a movie, a disco and an evening fire!Tatyana Grigorieva, Deputy Director for VR MGML

Legendary camp “Yuzhny” celebrates its 60th anniversary!
This summer, for the 60th time, the Polytechnic Educational and Recreational Base – or the Yuzhny Camp, as it is often called by students and university staff, hospitably welcomes them to rest. The Tuapse district of the Krasnodar Territory, where our camp is located, is the very heart of the coast, the edge of clean mountain air, the gentle Black Sea and the eye-pleasing curly-terry greenery of forests. This is a favorite vacation spot for polytechnics of all time, a place where brilliant ideas were born and continue to be born and the most daring undertakings are brought to life. Everyone who has ever been there, certainly wants to come here again.
Only two days by train from St. Petersburg, and you find yourself in a completely different world – the world of resort romance. The territory of the camp is a tidbit of land at the foot of a wooded slope, on the shore of one of the cleanest and most beautiful bays of the Black Sea coast of the North Caucasus. What is really impressive is the territory of the camp, on which there are two dormitory buildings, an administrative building, summer houses, a canteen, as well as open sports grounds with artificial turf.
Polytechnics come here to improve their health, swim in the sea and bask in the rays of the southern sun, enjoy walks along untrodden mountain paths, eat fruits and stock up on vitamins. On its own equipped beach, where shady canopies are installed, there are sun loungers, a toilet and a shower, everyone can find entertainment to their liking: ride a “banana” or a catamaran, go out to the open sea on a yacht, try various attractions and much more. The sea and the beach are just some 50 meters from the buildings. But those for whom even this distance is large can swim in the outdoor pool located on the territory of the camp. There is also an opportunity to play billiards and tennis, mini-football, volleyball or basketball, borrow books from the library, go to a cinema and concert hall or a disco. All conditions for the most comfortable, pleasant, interesting and memorable vacation have been created in Yuzhny.
During its history, which is already 60 years old, the Yuzhny camp has gone through several stages of development, and continues to develop to this day. It is hard to imagine that the first vacationers got here by sea – because there was simply no road to the village at that time! In the summer of 1958, the order of the Minister of Higher Education of the USSR on the organization of the southern health camp of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute was executed. The first place of the “Polytechnic” was the Golden Bay of the village of Novomikhailovsky – the territory that today is occupied by the All-Russian Children’s Center “Eaglet”. But when at 19In 1959, the newly vacated border outpost in the village of Novomikhailovsky was transferred to the Polytechnic Institute, the summer tents of the Polytechnic moved to the territory where the camp is still located. In the summer of 1959, more than 500 students and 90 employees of the institute rested on trade union vouchers. And although the base was then completely self-service, and the usual breakfast was a glass of sour cream, a piece of bread and tea, Yuzhny immediately became a native and favorite vacation spot for polytechnics. Every year more than 700 students and teachers of the university have a rest here.
The age of the camp, to be sure, is solid. How did Yuzhny approach its 60th anniversary? “Three years ago, when I arrived for the first time, the conditions here were completely different, ,” Dmitry BOBROV, a student of the Institute of Science and Technology, admits. – Although we didn’t have very big requests, it was still cool for us here, but we lived in those wooden houses, and even electricity was not in everyone, and showers and toilets were shared on the territory. There is no comparison with what is now: double and triple rooms with all amenities, a bathroom in each room, it is also important that there is not only cold, but hot water, and all the time. Refrigerator, air conditioner, TV, although it is hardly necessary here with such a busy life.0248 .
Indeed, Yuzhny has always been distinguished by a high level of leisure organization – every day there are concerts, KVN, student holidays and parties, sports quests and discos, creative master classes and much more. Dmitry works as an administrator on the 2nd and 3rd shifts, so he knows firsthand about the bustling life of vacationers in his beloved Yuzhny and talks about it fully, poetically, with a great deal of humor. “We have wonderful cultists who make up the program, organize additional trips so that students do not get bored, – he continues. – Every evening we have some kind of fun, a sports game or something else – you get such pleasure from these two weeks! Although I am at work here, in the evenings, if I have time, I definitely go to their events” .
The current leadership of the university, as well as the trade union organization and the trade union bureau of the institutes that distribute vouchers to the camp, are striving to increase and improve the opportunities for comfortable rest for students and university staff. Oleg Viktorovich NEZNAEV, the new director of the camp, used to work in the security agencies, and he came to this position only a year ago. He admits that the staff at Yuzhny is small, so he has to figure out many issues and solve them on his own. “Of course, the university in the person of Daria Polovyan, Vice-Rector for Economic Affairs Mikhail Alexandrovich Grekov and others provide a lot of help, but we also work a lot on the spot” , – says the director. During this short time, under his control, a lot of work was done to equip and repair the camp: for the summer season, the facade of the 1st building was painted, new beds, bedside tables and refrigerators were installed there, 30 split-systems were installed in the 3rd building, the repair of summer houses continues , the surrounding area is being developed. It is impossible not to say about security: the territory of the camp is fenced and guarded around the clock, illuminated at night. Access control to the territory of the base is organized, it is all under video surveillance.
“Students from other universities who visited us said that there is no better base than ours,” Oleg Viktorovich rejoices. – The management of the Polytechnic University approached this date seriously and allocated the necessary amount of funds. But we do not work for ourselves – we work as a team for a single result, so that they come to us and return with pleasure again, so that they come to the camp as if they were at home or, at least, as visiting good friends. We try to maintain an atmosphere of hospitality and home comfort. I would like more and faster, but I know that slowly the base will become even more beautiful and better. I would like it to never be empty.”
Today, the children and grandchildren of those who were once among the pioneers from those very first shifts in the 50s and 60s are already coming to have a rest in Yuzhny. It is wonderful that the continuity of generations is preserved, and the traditions of the “Southern” live on. For thousands of students and employees of the Polytechnic University, the camp has become a symbol of happy youth, devoted friendship and bright creativity. 60 years is only part of a long journey, and we still have many bright events, bold plans and new friends ahead of us. The management of the university is not going to stop there, on the contrary, it intends to seriously develop the base and increase its capabilities in order to organize a decent vacation for polytechnics, their families and not only. The plans include the construction of another building for students for 200 places, the development of infrastructure and housing stock of the camp. “If there are people who do not yet know about Yuzhny, I would advise them to find out, ,” Dmitry BOBROV continues. – Because for students who come here on tours, this is a very good vacation in terms of price-quality ratio.
