How will the expanded MIAA lacrosse playoff format impact the 2021 season. What changes have been made to the tournament structure. Which teams are contenders in each conference.
Expanded MIAA Lacrosse Playoff Format for 2021
The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) has introduced significant changes to its lacrosse playoff structure for the 2021 season. In a departure from tradition, all teams in each conference will qualify for the post-season tournament. This decision comes in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 season and limited non-conference game opportunities this spring.
The expanded format aims to provide member schools with maximum competitive opportunities, recognizing the unusual circumstances surrounding this season. This change has sparked excitement and speculation about how it might impact the playoff landscape across all conferences.
Key Changes to the Playoff Structure
- All teams in each conference qualify for the post-season
- Single-elimination tournament format
- Modified seeding and bracket structures
- Changes to game locations for different rounds
A Conference Playoff Structure and Analysis
The A Conference, consisting of 11 teams, will feature a more complex playoff structure due to the expanded format. How will this new structure work?
- Three first-round games
- Winners advance to quarterfinals
- Top five seeds receive byes to the quarterfinal round
- First two rounds played on higher seeds’ home fields
- Semifinals and finals held at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis
This new format introduces an interesting dynamic to the A Conference playoffs. With the top two seeds now required to play in the quarterfinal round, the potential for upsets and surprises has increased significantly. The competitive nature of the league throughout the regular season suggests that the expanded playoff format could lead to some thrilling and unexpected outcomes.
Dates to Remember for A Conference
- First Round: May 13
- Quarterfinals: May 15
- Semifinals: May 18
- Finals: May 21
B and C Conference Playoff Structures
The B and C Conferences, each featuring eight teams, will have a more straightforward playoff structure compared to the A Conference. How do these tournaments differ?
- Tournaments begin with quarterfinal rounds on May 14
- Semifinals for both conferences on May 18
- C Conference Championship Game on May 20 (site TBA)
- B Conference Championship Game on May 21 at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium
The expanded format in these conferences means that every team has a shot at the title, regardless of their regular-season performance. This could lead to increased motivation and competitiveness throughout the playoffs, as lower-seeded teams see a clearer path to potential success.
Impact of Expanded Format on Team Strategies
The introduction of an all-inclusive playoff format raises intriguing questions about how teams might approach the postseason. Will top-seeded teams face additional pressure knowing they no longer have the advantage of a first-round bye? How might lower-seeded teams adjust their strategies, knowing they have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs?
Coaches and players will need to adapt to this new reality, potentially leading to innovative tactics and increased unpredictability in game outcomes. The expanded format may also influence how teams manage player fatigue and injuries, given the potential for a longer playoff run.
Potential Strategies for Teams
- Increased roster rotation to maintain freshness
- More aggressive play from lower-seeded teams
- Enhanced focus on game-by-game preparation
- Possible changes in regular-season approach knowing playoffs are guaranteed
Analyzing Contenders in Each Conference
With the expanded playoff format, the field of potential champions has widened considerably. In the A Conference, traditionally dominant programs will face increased competition from teams that may have missed out on playoffs in previous years. The B and C Conferences could see surprising runs from lower-seeded teams who now have the opportunity to compete for a title.
Which teams are poised to make a deep playoff run in each conference? While regular-season performance remains a strong indicator of playoff success, the new format introduces an element of unpredictability that could lead to exciting upsets and Cinderella stories.
Factors Influencing Playoff Success
- Regular season record and momentum
- Head-to-head results against potential opponents
- Team depth and ability to handle multiple games in short timeframes
- Coaching experience in high-pressure situations
- Player leadership and mental toughness
Venue Changes and Their Potential Impact
The shift in venue for later rounds of the playoffs, particularly the use of Navy-Marine Corps Stadium for A and B Conference finals, adds another layer of intrigue to the tournament. How might playing in a larger, more prestigious venue affect team performance?
For some players, the opportunity to compete in a collegiate stadium could provide extra motivation and elevate their game. Conversely, the unfamiliar environment and increased pressure might lead to nerves and affect performance negatively. Coaches will need to prepare their teams mentally for this change in scenery and the associated challenges.
Considerations for Teams Playing at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium
- Adjusting to larger field dimensions
- Managing pre-game nerves and excitement
- Potential changes in game atmosphere and crowd dynamics
- Opportunities for increased exposure and scouting presence
Implications for Future Seasons
While the expanded playoff format for 2021 is a response to the unique challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, its implementation may have longer-lasting effects on MIAA lacrosse. If the new format proves successful in terms of competitiveness, excitement, and overall player experience, there may be discussions about adopting elements of this structure in future seasons.
What aspects of the expanded format might be considered for permanent adoption? Could a hybrid model be developed that incorporates some of the benefits of the all-inclusive playoffs while maintaining the prestige of earning a playoff berth?
Potential Long-Term Changes to Consider
- Expanded playoff field (though perhaps not all-inclusive)
- Retention of single-elimination format for increased drama
- Continued use of prestigious venues for later rounds
- Adjustments to regular-season scheduling to accommodate longer playoffs
Player Development and Recruitment Implications
The expanded playoff format may have significant implications for player development and college recruitment. With more teams participating in high-stakes games, a greater number of players will gain valuable postseason experience. This could lead to improved skill development and mental toughness across a broader range of players.
From a recruitment perspective, the expanded playoffs offer more opportunities for players to showcase their abilities in pressure situations. College coaches and scouts may have a larger pool of players to evaluate in competitive settings, potentially influencing recruitment trends and opportunities for MIAA athletes.
Potential Benefits for Players
- Increased exposure to high-pressure game situations
- More opportunities to demonstrate leadership and clutch performance
- Enhanced skill development through extended competitive play
- Potential for late-season breakout performances to catch recruiters’ attention
As the 2021 MIAA lacrosse playoffs approach, the expanded format has injected a new level of excitement and uncertainty into the tournament. Teams across all conferences are preparing for a postseason unlike any other, with the potential for surprising results and memorable performances. The lacrosse community eagerly anticipates how this unique playoff structure will unfold and what lasting impact it may have on the sport in Maryland.
A first look at MIAA lacrosse playoff brackets
All 11 teams in A Conference, as well as all eight in B and C Conferences will qualify for their respective post season tournament
by Gary Adornato
The 2021 MIAA lacrosse season, which was not a certainty to even take place as late as February of this year, has been as exciting and unpredictable as any in recent memory. The post-season figures to take things up even a notch further.
Traditionally, just six teams qualify for the playoffs in each conference, with the top two seeds gaining byes to the semifinals. In 2021, however, all of the teams in each conference will qualify for their respective post-season, competing in a single-elimination tournament.
The decision was made to give all member schools as many opportunities to compete as possible, considering the early cancellation of the 2020 season and the lack of non-conference game opportunities this spring because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In the A Conference, which has 11 teams, there will be three first round games with the winners advancing to quarterfinals where the top five seeds will be waiting. The first two rounds (May 13 and 15) will be played on the home fields of the higher seeds, with the semifinals (May 18) and finals (May 21) being played at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis.
With as competitive as the league has been thus far this season and the fact that the top two seeds will have to play in the quarterfinal round, almost anything is possible.
The B and C Conferences feature eight teams each, so their tournaments will begin on Friday, May 14 with the quarterfinal rounds, with their semifinals will take place on May 18. The C Conference Championship Game will be played on Thursday, May 20 at a site to be announced, while the B Conference title game will be at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium, prior to the A Conference final on Friday, May 21.
Below are the brackets for each conference, as the race to determine the seeds continues.

First look at the boys and girls matchups and seedings – Orange County Register
For the first time in Orange County history, there will be play-in games to determine who makes the field of 16 in the U.S. Lacrosse Orange County playoffs.
Great Oak and Murrieta Mesa tied for the Southwest League championship. Both teams have wins against each other this season and Murrieta Mesa won the last matchup 8-7 in overtime on April 17. The winner will be the No. 15 seed in the playoffs and play Foothill.
The more controversial play-in game will involve Pacific Coast League champion Beckman and Edison, which is ranked No. 16 in the coaches’ poll, but finished in fourth place in the Sunset League.
According to the US Lacrosse rules, winning a league championship earns an automatic bid into the playoffs. However, this is the first time that a team who has won its league has not been in the top 16 in the coaches’ poll. Since Beckman is ranked below Edison in the poll, the two teams will play Monday to determine who will play defending Orange County champion St. Margaret’s in the first round on Tuesday.
Beckman (11-6, 10-0) blew through the Pacific Coast League and has one win over a playoff team, a 7-6 victory over Aliso Niguel on April 20.
Edison (10-7, 3-3) has no impressive wins, but did have close losses to teams in the playoffs – Los Alamitos, Aliso Niguel and Newport Harbor. The Chargers’ best wins were blowouts against Huntington Beach and Dana Hills, neither of whom qualified for the playoffs.
A closer look at the playoff field
• The committee clearly valued strength of schedule when determining seeding. Foothill (12-6) earned the second seed despite having six losses, but most of those were against some of the top teams in the state. Trabuco Hills (16-2, 8-1) was ranked No. 2 in the coaches’ poll all season, but lost to Foothill 12-6 on March 18.
• Sunset League champion Newport Harbor will host its first playoff game in school history when it faces Santiago of Corona on Tuesday. The Sailors ended the regular season by beating Servite 11-10 in overtime Saturday with a game-winning goal by Michael Morrison. Newport Harbor lost to Santiago 7-6 on March 2.
• The Sunset League has the most teams in the playoffs with three teams in the field and one in a play-in game. The Trinity League and South Coast League each have three teams in the playoffs.
• On the girls side, Foothill was awarded the No. 1 seed despite losing to St. Margaret’s on Thursday. The Knights finished the season with that one loss.
• Five of the top seven seeds in the girls bracket are from the Trinity and South Coast Leagues. Mater Dei received the No. 3 seed and shared the Trinity League championship with Santa Margarita, which is the No. 4 seed. Trabuco Hills, led by Hennessey Evans, won the South Coast League and earned the fifth seed. Aliso Niguel and San Clemente were the other top teams from the South Coast League and were seeded No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. San Juan Hills finished fourth in the South Coast League and is seeded 14th.

East Hampton-Pierson Girls Lacrosse Is Navigating Through Its First Ever Division I Season
Pierson senior Grace Perello looks to make a move on a Patchogue-Medford defender. DREW BUDD
The East Hampton-Pierson girls lacrosse team is competing in large school Division I for the first time in program history, after competing in Division II for several seasons. And thanks to a front-loaded schedule that has the Bonackers seeing some of the largest and most competitive schools early on, they’re certainly getting an early look at what it’s like to compete among the county’s best, but they’re all taking it in stride.
After a 15-6 loss at home to Patchogue-Medford on Friday afternoon, players and coaches said all they can do is keep moving forward.
“We’re in a hard division this year, so the main goal really is to get to the fundamentals and just really try and play our best game, whether we lose or win,” Pierson senior Grace Perello said after the game.
“We have a really young team, so I think it’s going to really be a battle for them as freshmen and sophomores playing against seniors who probably committed [to colleges] since their sophomore year,” East Hampton senior Asha Hokanson said. “But we’re a pretty talented and fast team. We can keep up when we really want to.”
Patchogue-Medford rattled off five goals in the first five minutes of Friday’s game before East Hampton senior Lucy Short ended that run with 18:12 remaining in the first half. A pair of goals by Perello eventually brought East Hampton (1-4-092.370 within three goals of the Raiders’ lead at 6-3, but Patchogue-Medford scored four goals before the end of the first half, then added another five to start the second half before the Bonackers were able to put another tally on the scoreboard.
Perello finished with three goals, while East Hampton freshman Lola Garneau scored a pair, one coming off a nice interception and feed from East Hampton junior Ella Bistrian.
“We know that we play some big schools. We knew it was going to be a little bit tougher than Division II, that’s why we seeded ourselves so low, but I think that we’ll have some good, competitive games,” East Hampton head coach Jessica Sanna said. “We had our win over North Babylon, excited about that. We have some more competitive games coming up. We played the top half right now, so we’re really just hoping to set some goals for those games, like practice our defense, or to implement some new plays, or to get on the board.”
Sanna said her team, so far, has been able to do all of that and they will continue to look for progress.

“We have a very young core, which is great. They’re so coachable, so responsive, they want to be here, they’re excited to play, and they’re definitely learning and making progress, and that’s our goal, to build a program.”
Building for the future may not mean postseason play for a pair of four-year varsity players in Perello and Hokanson, but they seemed to have come to grips with that fact and are focusing on helping the younger players improve.
“It’s definitely a lot better than two years ago with a lot more potential,” Perello said of the program. “And I think in upcoming years this will be a great program. I just want to set a good example for the upcoming girls and just have fun. Honestly, just have fun.
“It really is about fun,” Hokanson added. “And we can only grow from here.”

Lacrosse Fundraiser Combines Sports with Community Service
The Lowell girls lacrosse team is ready to help out at FROM.
The Lowell High School girls varsity lacrosse team still needs to come up with approximately $4,000 to cover all its expenses for the 2021 season. To raise that money, the girls have undertaken an innovative fundraiser in which they will spend one hour volunteering for Flat River Outreach Ministries for every $25 they receive in donations.
It’s a win-win for both the team and FROM, says Jennifer Dougherty, who is helping to organize the fundraiser. “We thought that providing labor to FROM would be a great way to provide a community service while getting the funds that are needed to run the lacrosse program,” she explains.
Donations are being accepted through the end of the year, and girls will continue their volunteer hours into the New Year until they have completed their work obligation.
Donor Offers to Match Gifts
Lacrosse captain Olivia Rose presents a check to FROM from a matching donation.
FROM gets more than volunteer hours out of this fundraiser, though. A generous donor has agreed to match the money raised by the team with a financial gift to FROM. Should the lacrosse team reach their $4,000 goal, the matching gift means FROM will also receive a $4,000 donation. What’s more, the non-profit will receive 160 hours of volunteer work from members of the team.
In early December, team captain Olivia Rose delivered the first $525 matching donation. It came just in time for FROM to purchase items for its annual Christmas Toy Store, which is where the non-profit’s clients can get gifts for their children.
“It provides a great opportunity for the team to learn about the programs that FROM offers and can hopefully alleviate some of the volunteer shortages that FROM is experiencing due to COVID,” Dougherty says.
The team will be hosting a clothing drive over Christmas break to stock a new section of the FROM store that will be geared toward teens and young adults. Dougherty expects girls will also be assisting the non-profit with their annual inventory review that happens at the start of each year.
Lacrosse in Lowell
Lacrosse is a unique sport in that girls don’t have to start at a young age to excel, according to Dougherty. “A girl can start playing in high school with no previous experience and can pick up the sport quickly and with great success,” she says.
Each team fields 12 players at a time to cover four positions, providing opportunities for many girls of various skill levels to play in each game. The Lowell program saw their hard work pay off as they won the conference championship in 2019. While the 2020 program was disrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team is looking forward to playing again in spring 2021.
Since the girls lacrosse program is not fully funded by the school district, it’s up to players and their families to cover expenses such as coaching, busing, equipment and officiating for games. Those who want to support the program can make a donation via the team’s GoFundMe page or send a check made out LHS Girls Lacrosse to the following address:
Lowell High School
Attn. Girls Lacrosse
11700 Vergennes St. SE
Lowell, MI 49331
Donations received by the end of the year will be matched and used to determine the team’s volunteer commitment to FROM.

First Look at the 2017 Buick LaCrosse
All of General Motors brands have been embracing Android Auto, with Chevrolet having it available in all of their models. Now their other brands, Buick, Cadillac and GMC are beginning to push out models with Android Auto included. Buick’s first Android Auto equipped vehicle is the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. Which we’ve just taken delivery of and will be spending the next week with, getting to know how Buick has integrated Android Auto with their own infotainment system and how it works as a whole, from a driver’s perspective. If you watch TV, or even video on the web, you’ve probably seen Buick’s latest commercials, highlighting the fact that their vehicles don’t like cars that older people would drive. And that’s because their line has been fully redesigned.
The Buick LaCrosse is a rather new model for Buick, having launched in 2009, and it has already crossed 900,000 sales globally in that time. It is a full-size sedan, and it starts at about $32,990. So it’s not your cheapest full-size sedan out there, but it does have a decent price. The LaCrosse isn’t quite a luxury sedan, but it’s not quite “cheap” feeling or looking. In 2017, they have removed the cloth interior, so you only have the option of getting leather. Which may affect some buyers’ choice on whether to get the LaCrosse or another vehicle.
In 2017, the LaCrosse was fully designed. The reason for this was to give customers a “striking, all-new design, sophisticated technologies and more-responsive performance.” It really is a nice looking car, it definitely doesn’t like the Buick sedans from a few years ago. The 2017 model is also longer, lower and wider than the previous model, but also 300 pounds lighter. This continues GM’s trend of putting their vehicles on a “diet” as of late. It’s actually a trend that has been sweeping the auto industry in recent years. As lighter cars mean less gas is needed to make them go (essentially), which means better gas mileage. Speaking of gas mileage, the LaCrosse is rated at 21 MPG in the city and 31 MPG in the highway, for a combined average of 25 MPG. With the tank holding 15.8 gallons of fuel, that should get you over 300 miles on a tank (when we took delivery of the LaCrosse, it stated we had about 310 miles left).
Now we’re checking out the 2017 Buick LaCrosse Premium FWD which is one step from being the top-of-the-line model, which means we have all of the bells and whistles thrown in. Android Auto is one of the features that is part of every 2017 LaCrosse, so you don’t need to worry about paying extra for it. That’s something that GM has been doing a lot lately with their Android Auto-compatible cars, making it available for no extra charge. And for those that own an iPhone or maybe have a significant other that has an iPhone, it does also do Apple CarPlay. The center display has all of your infotainment there, including Android Auto, which is pretty easy to navigate to and use. So far, in our limited time with it, the LaCrosse works pretty well with Android Auto. Of course, we’ll have more on that in our full review.
One of the more interesting features of the 2017 Buick LaCrosse is the heads up display on the driver side. This display shows you all sorts of information, including your current speed, what music is currently playing (and this even works with Android Auto, it’ll show what’s playing with the Android Auto icon to the right of it) and much more. It’s a pretty interesting feature to have in the LaCrosse, maybe not something everyone will love, but you can turn it off easily. This heads up display is something that we haven’t seen in any of the other vehicles we’ve reviewed in the past year and a half (since Android Auto launched), so it’ll be interesting to see how the experience plays out for us over the next few days.
The LaCrosse may not be everyone’s first choice for a new vehicle this year, but it’s definitely a great vehicle to take a look at and check out if you’re looking for a full-size sedan, with Android Auto. The 2017 Buick LaCrosse is available now from your local GM dealer, so you can head on out and take it for a test drive right now.

While the 2019 college lacrosse season ended just a couple weeks ago, US Lacrosse Magazine takes its first look at the 2020 prospects. This week, we will rank the top 25 teams in an initial forecast.
Up now: No. 10-6.
No. 10 PENN
2019 record: 12-6 (5-2 Ivy League)
Last seen: Struck down by Georgetown in the NCAA first round, 13-12, in overtime
Senior starters lost: 81 of 216 (17.1 percent)
Senior scoring departing: 0 of 224 (0.0 percent)
Initial forecast: The Quakers are expected to return every single goal scorer from the 2019 squad. Tewaaraton Award nominee and third-team All-American Gabby Rosenzweig set a Penn single-season record for points (98) by scoring 35 goals and dishing 63 assists. Her main targets were Zoe Belodeau (42g, 15a) and All-American Erin Barry (37g, 6a). Seeing increased support from the likes of Tarlyn Stadler (26 goals), Michaela McMahon (22) and Elyse Decker (21) would prove fruitful to be a bonafide top 10 team. Penn’s signature defense should be as good as last season. Mikaila Cheeseman is poised for another strong season in net after posting a career-best save percentage (45.8) and GAA (10.65). There are two holes to be filled, but the Quakers can lean on the leadership of rising senior Chelsea Kibler, who had a team-high 23 caused turnovers, and midfielder Abby Bosco (54g, 44dc).
“If Notre Dame’s 2020 defense resembles the 2019 version, the Fighting Irish may very well advance past opening weekend in the NCAA tournament.”
NO. 9 NOTRE DAME
2019 record: 14-5 (5-2 ACC)
Last seen: Unable to overcome an 8-0 deficit to Northwestern on its home field in the NCAA second round
Senior starters lost: 94 of 228 (41.2 percent)
Senior scoring departing: 72 of 285 (25.3 percent)
Initial forecast: Notre Dame seemed so close to breaking through in a major way in 2019. The Fighting Irish defeated Notre Dame and had close calls with Syracuse, Boston College and Northwestern. Next year’s team should be really good offensively with a pair of All-ACC first-teamers on top of the scoresheet. Maddie Howe (59g, 19a) was the team leader in goals, while Andie Aldave (47g, 20a) had a presence all over the field as she pulled down 152 draw controls. Of the five senior graduations, the biggest impact will be in net. The Irish’s all-time wins and saves leader Samantha Giacolone leaves a huge void. Her senior season was a masterpiece (49.8 save pct.), which contributed mightily to Notre Dame’s fourth-ranked defense (8.05 goals against per game). Rising junior Bridget Deehan saw just 149 minutes as Giacolone’s backup, but was extraordinary in Notre Dame’s final game of the season at Northwestern with 11 saves against six goals allowed in 45 minutes of reserve play. If Notre Dame’s 2020 defense resembles the 2019 version, the Fighting Irish may very well advance past opening weekend in the NCAA tournament.
NO. 8 MICHIGAN
2019 record: 16-4 (4-2 Big Ten)
Last seen: Sputtering in the NCAA second round to Denver in a 9-5 loss at home
Senior starters lost: 93 of 240 (38.8 percent)
Senior scoring departing: 44 of 257 (17.1 percent)
Initial forecast: Michigan’s trajectory continues to point ever upward. The Wolverines set all sorts of program records in 2019 and a follow-up act in 2020 will be difficult to replicate as they will not be sneaking up on anyone. Offensively, both All-Big Ten representatives will be back. Caitlin Muir (38g, 21a) led the team in points and shooting percentage (51.4), but also in turnovers (37). Maggie Kane (34g, 4a) is a sparkplug all over the field with contributions on defense (23gb, 17ct) and the draw (37dc). Molly Garrett (29g, 65dc) is Michigan’s clutch player, providing crucial game-winning goals in pressure situations. The Wolverines’ biggest unknowns will be on defense. The net will feature a starter other than Mira Shane or Alli Kothari for the first time since 2016. In front of that new goalie will be at least three new starting defenders. One steadying presence will be the return of fifth-year senior Maggie Handlan, who suffered a season-ending injury in 2019.
New Biock LaCrosse appeared without camouflage – Behind the wheel magazine
The answer to the question of what the next generation Buick LaCrosse will be is a pre-production version, filmed without camouflage. A large sedan appeared in front of a Chinese photo spy.
buick-lacrosse-china-1-660×272
On the eve of the placement of spy shots by CarNewsChina, Buick presented a teaser of the new LaCrosse, which, unfortunately, did not give any impression of the next generation sedan. But now the car is in full view! The naked eye can see the similarities between the serial Buick and the spectacular Avenir concept car: a similar coupe-like silhouette, whimsical plastic side panels and a very similar architecture of the front panel of the cabin.
buick-lacrosse-china-5-660×388
By the way, the Yankees were brought to the Celestial Empire for a reason. LaCrosse is produced not only in its native Kansas and at GM Korea facilities, but also rolls off the assembly line of Shanghai GM, a joint venture between the American auto giant and local manufacturer SAIC Motor. By the way, the Chinese and overseas “LaCross” – co-platform Opel Insignia and twin brothers. These will probably remain the models related to the upcoming third generation. According to some reports, it will be based on the E2XX chassis, which replaces the Epsilon II.Obviously, the next Insignia will be created on it.

Modern Buick for China is equipped with a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter engine and a 2.0-liter turbo four, and a V6 engine with a volume of 3.6 liters. Front-wheel drive or full. We believe that the naturally aspirated 4-cylinder unit will be excluded from the range, leaving the 2.0-liter engine and retaining the 6-cylinder proposal. By the way, the top model is likely to receive a Cadillac 3.6-liter engine, announced in the spring, and a 9-speed “automatic”.The premiere is expected at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

BC-1000 vs MH-C9000
I purchased both chargers here and now I can compare them.
What’s not to like about the MH-C9000.
1. The board is constantly on. If the device is in operation in the room where I sleep, then the light from the device prevents me from falling asleep. Need an adjustable and switchable backlight.
2. Too much, in my opinion, a long pause between charge-discharge in Refresh & Analyze modes at 2 hours and Break-Iy at 1 hour.IMHO 20 minutes would be enough. In case of discharge-charge, remove the pause altogether. Also, the instructions do not indicate anything that there is the same pause of 2 hours in Cycle mode.
What’s not to like about the BC-1000.
1. Lack of backlighting at all. I would like to have an adjustable / switchable display backlight. Well, or at least there was a white reflective (retroreflective) substrate.
2. Absence of any pause between charge-discharge. Also 20 minutes would be enough.
3. Small selection of charge / discharge currents. That is, it will not work exactly to get into the current capacity for batteries, for example, for 600, 750, 800 and 900 mAh.
What I would like for both charges.
On the case, I would like to see a 3/4-pin connector for connecting a cooling fan with a tachometer, like on motherboards, and so that the device itself controls it. This would save both the batteries themselves from harmful heating and reduce the charging / discharging time, especially when using high currents.
PS: At the forum there was an opinion that the power of a 12V power supply at 2A for the MAHA MH-C9000 is not enough to charge all four batteries, for each with a current of 2A, in total – 8A.
Here we need to understand a little. I will not open the device, but I would like to know if the MAHA MH-C9000 device contains single-phase synchronous step-down galvanically not isolated inductive DC / DC converters, as, for example, on motherboards for the central processor?
For example, according to this scheme, from 12V to 1.5V, and there may not be one common for all channels, but for each channel its own, which would be more correct.
Let’s try to count.
The power of a 12V power supply at 2A is obtained at 24W.
We do not need 12V in the device for charging batteries, 1.5V is enough.
The law of conservation of energy has not been canceled.
So, 12Vx2A = 24W, 24W / 1.5V = 16A.
Let’s take the efficiency of a DC / DC converter at 65% – the worst option, since the efficiency of modern converters is usually around 90%.
16A * 0.65KPD = 10.4A, 10.4A / 4channels = 2.6A.
Therefore, each channel will have a current of 2.6A.
And in MAHA MH-C9000 the maximum current for each channel is 2A.
So there is no one cheating. You just need to study the MAHA MH-C9000 circuit itself, but for now this is my assumption, but I would implement the circuit just like that.
Russian hockey players became heroes of the NHL playing day – RT in Russian
Alexander Ovechkin climbed to 12th place in the list of the best snipers in the history of the NHL, gaining four points in the match against Toronto. Andrei Svechnikov brought Carolina a victory over Calgary, becoming the first league player to score a lacrosse puck. Alexander Radulov scored a hat-trick in the match for Dallas, scoring two goals in the fall.RT talks about the latest successes of Russian hockey players in the NHL.
Ovechkin’s Crazy Day
Last night, what was one of the most anticipated events at the start of the NHL season happened. Alexander Ovechkin has broken through to 12th place on the list of the best snipers in the history of the league, beating Canadian Luc Robitaille. The Russian has already scored 669 goals in his career – two of them he recorded in his asset in the last match with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For the Washington Capitals, their next match in Canada had a tough start.Evgeny Kuznetsov hit the board hard and went into the locker room for a long time, and already at the 40th second, the guests were in the role of catching up after the goal of Andreas Junsson.
However, by the middle of the game, the situation changed. Defender John Carlson scored two goals, continuing to amaze with his bombing skills. Both times he was assisted by Ovechkin. Carlson broke the club’s record for defensive performance in one month. In October, he earned 23 points – one more than Sergei Gonchar had in January 2000.
The teams left for the second break with an equal score, and immediately after the start of the third period, Toronto took the lead thanks to the second goal of Auston Matthews. After that, Ovechkin got down to business. He first leveled the score, ending TJ Oshi’s brilliant solo breakthrough, which distracted all opponents on the court.
In overtime, when Maple Leafs players were sent off twice in a row, the Russian forward could not help punishing them for this. Taking a position in the left face-off circle, Ovechkin waited for a pass from Dmitry Orlov and brought Washington another victory and leadership in the Eastern Conference, and himself – 12th place among the best snipers in the history of the league, with which he was immediately congratulated by Robitail.
“Hey Alex! Congratulations on surpassing my result. This is absolutely deserved. You still have many years and many goals ahead of you. You are an amazing player. Congratulations on behalf of all the hockey players in the league! ” Said the legendary Los Angeles Kings player.
Ovechkin himself said after the match that this was the result of mutual understanding within the team.
“My job is to shoot at goal, create chances and shoot goals for the team. The guys know if I’m open, I’m ready to take a pass. When I am closely watched over, others are open. The well-coordinated game and the effectiveness of our team are built on this, ”the striker noted.
The next goal for Ovechkin is 684 goals for Teemu Selanne. He also continues to chase David Pastrnyak in a dispute for the title of the best sniper of this season. The Boston Bruins striker is still one goal ahead of the Russian. Finally, in the near future, Ovechkin will be able to become one of the top 40 scorers in the history of the league – there are three points left before the result of Phil Houseley at the bottom of the list.
Supergol Svechnikov
Andrey Svechnikov could argue with Ovechkin for the title of the hero of the day. He single-handedly brought the Carolina Hurricanes victory over the Calgary Flames, driving the hockey community crazy with a lacrosse super goal.
Most of the match, “Carolina” was inferior with a score of 0: 1, until a historic moment occurred in the 50th minute. Svechnikov climbed with the puck behind someone else’s gates, but did not go from the other side, where Oliver Chillington was watching him.Instead, he swiftly went back, putting the puck on the hook and throwing it over the shoulder of goalkeeper David Rittich.
This goal, which is called “Michigan” in hockey, or lacrosse for the similarity to a throw from this sport, was repeatedly performed in junior and student competitions, but in the NHL all attempts were unsuccessful, although such “magicians” tried to become pioneers. like Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tyler Ennis.
According to Svechnikov, he was the first in the league to shoot from the hook thanks to constant training with head coach Rod Brindamore.
“Actually, I practiced this throw this morning, so it was a good test for me. I practice a lot with head coach Rod. He passes to me when I go outside the goal, and I try to practice this maneuver at every training session, ”the Russian admitted.
But one goal has not yet given the team the main thing – victory. And to get it, the Russian took advantage of the next removal from his rivals. Svechnikov threw with brushes from the left circle and now hit another corner of the goal.“Carolina” won with a score of 2: 1 and remains the leader of the East in terms of lost points along with “Washington”.
Radulov’s hat-trick
Alexander Radulov scored the most of the Russians on the last game day. He effectively interrupted his prolonged black streak, because of which he was not criticized only by the lazy. His hat-trick helped the Dallas Stars beat Minnesota Wild.
The Texans failed to start the match, losing 0: 3 by the 35th minute. After two conceded goals, the main goalkeeper of Dallas Ben Bishop sat on the bench, allowing Anton Khudobin to prove himself. The Russian goalkeeper made 11 saves in the end and conceded only in the minority.
It was a big mistake on the part of Minnesota to believe that the deed was done. “Dallas” made an incredible comeback, and Radulov led the team, returning to the second line. He scored the first puck, assisted Roope Hintsu, then brought the team forward, and finally hit from the middle of the site on an empty goal, setting the final score 6: 3. Moreover, two of his three goals Radulov designed in beautiful falls.
