It’s an amazing (and free!) resource to crowdsource ideas from other goalies and parents.
Last week a great question was dropped into the group –
If you’re a lacrosse goalie who is looking for a good goalie backpack, this post is for you.
We’ll just be looking at backpacks in this post. Not roller bags or duffle bags so if the idea of putting all your gear on your back is not appeasing, then look elsewhere.
We’ll have a look at the best options available to lacrosse goalies for storing all your gear and looking cool at the same time.
That is pretty much the requirements when it comes to what to look for in a lacrosse goalie bag:
- does it fit all my lacrosse goalie gear?
- does it look cool?
- does it not break the bank?
Here are the best options for lacrosse goalie backpacks and bags.
Athletico Lacrosse Bag
At just $60 this might be the cheapest piece of gear your goalie owns!
It comes with external straps to carry your sticks and attach your helmet. The helmet attaches to the outside.
It measures 24″ in height from top to bottom. That’s much larger than a normal backpack but to fit all your goalie gear in there you need the XXL size.
At the bottom there is a compartment for storing your cleats. Along the sides you also have water bottle holders.
You get sternum straps and hip belts to help support the load if you’re trekking this gear for a far distance.
I also like that it has a fence hook so you can hang it up during practice.
Look is pretty plain with the all black but when you attach your helmet and sticks to the outside everyone will know who the goalie is.

LaxGear LaxPack
Next option is the LaxPack from LaxGear.
This one will run you $125 and on their website you have the option to add embroidery: your name ($15), your number ($10), and your team name ($17.

With this bag you’re getting the storage of a duffle bag but in backpack form.
It has a pretty nice separated compartment design with exterior loops for your goalie wands – max 2.
The helmet goes inside the bag in the top compartment although I’ve heard from a few goalies it can be a tight fit with the throat guard attached.
There’s also another storage unit for the cleats.
The large pockets on either side of the bag are great for holding extra clothes or a water bottle. A hidden zippered compartment on the back allows for the straps to store away when traveling via air to those lacrosse tournaments.
They have 8 different colors to choose from you should be able to match your school’s or club’s color way! The pic at the top of this blog post is a team with LaxGear backpacks.
Size measures in at 29.5″ L x 13″ H x 11.5″ W – 4410 cu. in. Larger than the 1st option which makes sense since all the gear goes inside the bag with this one.

There are zip pockets on either side too that can store sweaty and dirty items. However the shoe pocket could be a little bigger as you really have to cram your cleats in there or hope that you have really small feet.
