2021 Fighting Illini Summer Camps are TBD.
April 3, 2021
Both the State of Illinois and University of Illinois recently provided guidelines for hosting summer programs. Based on information provided, it will only be possible to host Day Camps (no overnight camps). The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics is currently working through all of the provided measures and formulating COVID Safety Plans to accommodate some camps. Unfortunately, we will not be able to host the usual 60+ camps between all of our sports. Camp specific information will be available by the middle to end of April. The health and safety of our campers, their families, Fighting Illini staff and student-athletes is our highest priority. We are confident that we can schedule some camps that mesh both our traditional camp activities with the necessary safety measure to provide COVID safe spaces. For additional questions or to be put on our email list, please email: [email protected].

The University of Illinois is once again hosting its summer sports camps. This summer the Illini will be offering 5 camps- Elite Basketball Camp, Individual Basketball Skills Camp, Track Camp, and 2 Basketball Coaches Clinics (advanced and intermediate).
At The University of Illinois, our goal for these summer camps is to continue to develop wheelchair sports. We would love to assist in the development and improvement of your wheelchair sport programs. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact The Wheelchair Athletics Office at [email protected] or call (217) 333-4606.
Hope to see you this summer!
- Elite Camp will be held from July 5-10, 2011, and the cost is $500. This camp will showcase the top 24 junior athletes in the world, and in the past, 75% of these athletes have gone on to represent their countries at international competitions. The instruction at this camp will be provided by the U of I wheelchair basketball coaching staff. Because this camp focuses on high caliber athletes, it is by invitation only. If you have an athlete you would like us to consider, please contact us at [email protected].
- In conjunction with Elite Camp, our Coaches Clinic I will also be held July 5-10, 2011. This clinic will focus on coaching the advanced skills of wheelchair basketball. Coaches will get an opportunity to coach high quality athletes and watch execution at an elite level. The cost of this clinic is $350 but if you have 5 athletes or more from your team attend any Illinois summer camp (Elite, Individual, and/or Track), the camp fee will be waived. Transportation is not included.
- Our most popular camp, Individual Skills Camp, will be held June 26-30, 2011. Because we understand the economic hardships during these times, the camp fee will remain at $375. This is a great camp for beginners and/or athletes that want to fine tune their foundational wheelchair basketball skills. Instruction at this camp will be provided by the U of I coaching staff and student-athletes. This will provide the best hands-on experience for your developing athletes.
- In conjunction with Individual Camp, our Coaches Clinic II will be held June 26-30, 2011. Coaches will review the basic skills of wheelchair basketball and move forward with more intermediate concepts. Coaches will also have an opportunity to coach their own team at Individual Camp. Again, if you have 5 or more athletes from your team attend any Illinois sports camp, the camp fee for the clinic will be waived.
- Our last camp of the summer, Track Camp, will be held July 6-10, 2011. Again, the camp fee will remain at $375. Track Camp is a great opportunity to prepare for Junior Track Nationals. Instruction at this camp will be provided by Paralympic Coach of the Year, Adam Bleakney. In addition to Coach Bleakney, 5 counselors at track camp are national team members as well as world record holders.

15 Summer Programs at The University of Illinois for High Schoolers
This is the home of the Fighting Illini! As the flagship institution of Illinois, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) boasts nationally-ranked programs in engineering, agriculture, and the sciences. With over 1,000 active student organizations and a library collection second only to Harvard’s in size, this public Ivy offers its numerous undergraduates niche communities, incredible research opportunities, and powerful alumni networks.
If your student already bleeds orange and blue, we’ve got good news: UIUC offers an incredible selection of summer programs, giving aspiring Illini the chance to experience campus at its finest. In this post, we highlight a few programs that you may want to keep an eye on.
But Why Summer Programs?
Some parents may think that their child should instead spend the summer working or volunteering, and certainly, these activities can also be valuable experiences. However, summer programs allow students to explore and develop specific academic or extracurricular areas of interest the way a job may not. Most importantly, though, summer programs give participants the opportunity to meet current students and faculty members at the very college that they want to attend! Understanding the campus vibe and forming these connections can be greatly helpful for writing supplemental essays and showing demonstrated interest.
Even for students who are undecided, however, a summer program can be incredibly beneficial. Prospective applicants get to live and learn on campus, using facilities available to actual college students and getting an idea of what their next four years might feel like. Summer camps can help students cull down their list of schools and decide where they’ll be sending their early applications.
Regardless of your child’s summer plans, keep in mind that admissions officers simply want to see genuine passion and initiative. Enrolling in a summer camp is one way to showcase that sort of intellectual curiosity and dedication, but volunteering for a cause or working a summer job can also be equally impressive. It is quite likely that your child can enjoy the best of both worlds — most programs last only a week or two, giving students plenty of time for any internships, work experiences, or volunteering that they may also want to do over the summer.

90,000 14 Tips for High School Students
High school athletes looking to get recruited into college need to be seen by the right coach. While athletes in grades 8A, 7A, and 6A in soccer, basketball, and baseball may have scouts to their games in some cities, and in urban areas many sports are frequently covered in widely circulated newspapers or news bulletins, thousands of other outstanding athletes are missing out every year. out of sight for one simple reason: the trainers didn’t know they were there.
Drink an energy drink and breathe. Whatever sport you participate in, from soccer to fencing or bowling to basketball, student athletes can do more to get on a coach’s radar. All they need is a game plan.
The following are tips for student athletes from International College Counselors:
- Explore the ins and outs of recruiting, regulations, colleges, coaches, and athletic programs. Read the NCAA and NAIA Guide for the College Athlete Student and see www.freerecruitingwebinar.org. Know exactly how coaches can contact you and how you can contact coaches. These are two separate rules.
- Use the Internet. Visit college websites for information on various sports programs. Look for schools that match your talents, sportingly and academically.
- Don’t just focus on the NCAA First Division. There are over 1,800 colleges with sports programs. The vast majority of college scholarship opportunities are at the Division II, Division III, NAIA, or Junior College level.Expand your search to give yourself the best opportunity.
- Attend college sports camps if you can. College coaches usually run sports camps. You will also get a chance to improve your skills.
- Join travel teams or clubs. Some events may have hundreds of teams and thousands of athletes competing. Scouts prefer to go where the best players compete. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to truly test your competition.Keep in mind, you cannot rely on being “discovered” in a camp or in a shop window.
- Depending on the sport, connect with coaches on your desired programs and build relationships with them as early as possible. For example, send them some newspaper articles about you and the teams you play on, or a link to a particularly impressive achievement. If there is an opportunity to meet with a coach, go and introduce yourself with a summary of your best accomplishments.
- Create a sports video of yourself in action that you will submit to programs of your choice during your junior year, along with a sports “resume” highlighting your accomplishments.Include stats, win / lose records, awards, high school transcripts, SAT / ACT scores, and letters of recommendation from coaches and teachers. Don’t forget your contact information. (Best video is a combination of game video and video skill.)
- Start a YouTube channel or your website. Post videos of your achievements and scans of articles. (Don’t just post links; some documents turn off links after a while.) Create a professionally prepared resume that highlights your athletic and academic achievements.Post it online.
- Please rate if you can. Many outsiders serve as the eyes and ears of coaches who do not have time to see each player.
- Keep up the good work. Get good grades, meet with your college counselor to make sure you are eligible, try to take the SAT / ACT in your freshman year, and maintain a good attitude.
- Respond to any college inquiries immediately. If a coach or school asks for more information, chances are they are seriously considering you.Ask your senior high school coach to complete any requests for information about you as soon as possible.
- Register with NCAA and NAIA Eligibility Centers for athletic scholarships.
- Don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear from the coaches. NCAA regulations only allow them to contact student athletes at specific times.
- Take care of your body and keep working hard to get stronger, faster and better. It’s competitive – but if you’re a real athlete at heart – knowing this should push you more.
One final note: many colleges are now providing fellows with a monthly stipend as a result of the new NCAA policy. At Power 5 conferences – ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference), Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC (Southeast Conference) – it was decided that colleges and universities should pay their student athletes an additional 1,400 5,666 to XNUMX XNUMX dollars for “Cost of visit. »
By taking control of the process and taking initiative, student athletes can greatly increase their chances of being recruited.
Sports and recreation camp “Sechenovets”
SECHENOVETS is our family
The summer student sports and health camp “Sechenovets”, located in the village of Lermontovo, Krasnodar Territory, celebrates in 2019 the 55th anniversary of its foundation. For more than half a century of history, it has been visited by about 20 thousand students and teachers of the Sechenov University.
The camp became the center
cultural and sports life, a place for summer holidays and just the soul of the student body. There are many traditions on which new generations of young doctors are brought up, while the camp continues to develop constantly.
All these years “Sechenovets” is a special distinctive student republic on the Black Sea coast, where such concepts as “friendship”, “love”, “brotherhood”, despite the changing times, do not lose their value.
Students, alumni and staff of the University who have visited Sechenovets in different years associate pleasant moments in their lives with it: someone discovered new talents in themselves, made new friends, and someone met their love.
By the way, the parents of many current students of the University met here, and now their children go to rest in the ageless camp.
Over the past years, it has become a good tradition to invite students from other universities to the first shift, the geography of which is constantly expanding. In 2019, Sechenovets welcomes children from St. Petersburg, Smolensk and Saratov, Krasnodar and Ufa, and, of course, from Moscow – about 400 students in total.
What is “Sechenovets” after more than half a century?
This is an unforgettable vacation on the sunny seaside in the Tuapse region.
These are daily adventures, sports and cultural events.
This is an opportunity to find a second home, family and sincere love.
This is a chance to self-actualize: to get out of the comfort zone and unleash the very potential that is so reliably hidden under the pile of medical knowledge. This is a whole new world of impressions and emotions that become vivid memories for a lifetime.
Everyone who at least once spent two weeks by the sea in this wonderful country says: “Sechenovets” is forever, this is our family! ”
