At the Mountain School, students will have access to laptops (personal, or provided by the school) and will have internet between 6am and 11pm every day. Assignments are listed in Blackbaud Academics, and grades and feedback are provided through the same portal.
It’s our tradition that students set aside their phones for the first six weeks of the semester to promote connection. We find that setting aside time to connect mindfully with the outside world via facetime or email still allows our students to stay connected with family and friends, while removing the barrage of notifications from our pockets allows for friendships to be built at meals, during work periods, and in free time around campus.
We invite your family to join us at the Mountain School for Opening and Closing Days of the Semester! On these days, there will be excellent lunches provided and opportunities to meet with faculty, celebrate the semester’s highlights, and connect with classmates.
All students will leave campus during the semester breaks listed above.
On weekends during the semester, students are permitted to leave campus with a parent’s permission, whether that be for a doctor’s appointment, an important hockey tournament, a family event, or just a ski weekend away. We ask that before leaving campus, students complete any chores they are assigned and that they are back by Sunday dinner.

Tuition for Fall ‘23 and Spring ‘24 is $36,975. At the Mountain School, we do not look at whether or not you require a need-based scholarship when reviewing your application. Students who wish to apply for need-based scholarships provide a Parent Financial Statement, including supporting documents, through a separate portal.
Once we have completed our review of your application and determine an admissions decision for you, we then review your family’s demonstrated financial need. The last step is to make you a need-based scholarship award that we hope will allow you to join us. In the 2023-24 admissions season, 40% of our admitted students were offered financial aid.
We do not offer merit-based scholarships, since all students who come to the Mountain School are academically motivated. Instead, we offer scholarships based on a family’s financial need.
