• A maximum of 75 credits can be applied toward the completion of the articulated bachelor’s degree program from WCC.
• By virtue of completion of the A.A. or A.S. degree at WCC, students with at least 48 liberal arts credits will have the lower-level general education/core requirements substituted at Mercy College with the exception of pre-requisites that have not been fulfilled.
• Students in this program will have access to workshops, special events, and advising to help them transition smoothly to Mercy College.

• All students must take the junior seminar course at Mercy College.
• The Arts requirement must be a theory-based arts course, art/music history or appreciation to fulfill the Arts General Education requirement at Mercy.
• Statistics does not fulfill the Math general education requirement at Mercy College; see a Mercy College admissions advisor for exceptions.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (June 29, 2020) – The Mercy College Athletic Department continued to excel in the classroom during the Spring 2020 Semester, ending the semester with a program-best 3.55 cumulative GPA.

The spring semester was moved to entirely remote learning after the start of COVID-19, giving adversity to the department to adjust to a virtual learning environment. Students were offered the opportunity to choose a pass/fail option for their classes, but a very small percentage of student-athletes chose that route.

It marked the 13th straight semester that the department posted above a 3.0 cumulative GPA. All 10 teams posted above a 3.0 GPA with the lowest being a 3.22. The success in the classroom translated to 167 student-athletes recording a 3.25 GPA or higher during the spring semester and 26 student-athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester. Currently 145 student-athletes have above a 3.25 cumulative GPA.

The field hockey program recorded the highest team GPA for spring 2020, checking in at 3.78 with five 4.0s in the spring semester. Women’s Lacrosse and volleyball both recorded a 3.70 cumulative GPA in the spring to round out the top three female team GPAs during the spring. Baseball led all men’s teams with a 3.66 cumulative GPA in the spring and men’s soccer was second among men’s teams with a 3.49 cumulative GPA in the spring.

**Students applying to the programs listed above generally need at least a 500 on the math section of the SAT to be admitted directly into the program.  Students admitted to these programs generally have an SAT score of 1,000 or higher. 

Letters of Recommendation are not required for all other programs, but are recommended since they help the Admissions team get to know you better. If submitted, the letter of recommendation should discuss the applicant’s character and promise as a university student.

Other applicants may also be asked to submit an essay or personal statement and/or be asked to participate in an interview during the application review process.

Admissions Criteria

The Admissions Committee evaluates all applications on an individual basis. Strong consideration will be given to applicants with the following:

Standard Admission

• Cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
• Composite ACT score of 20 (1030 SAT) with subscores of 17 or higher
• Class rank in the top half of graduating class (if provided)

Test-Optional Admission

• Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) 
  • Students below a cumulative 3.0 GPA will be required to submit a personal statement

• Class rank in the top half of graduating class (if provided)

Students who do not meet initial admission criteria may be required to submit a personal statement. Specific courses are not required for admissions but you’re encouraged to complete the following high school coursework:

On September 1, 2017, the Shchekino SUVU hosted festive events dedicated to the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year.Traditionally, the first school day began with a solemn assembly, where the pupils of the institution were greeted with parting words by I.O. director of the institution N.V. Moiseenko, chairman of the public chamber of the Tula region A.V. Vorontsov, clergyman of the Tula diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Father George, teachers, educators and masters of SUVU. During the day, the pupils of the institution took part in thematic classroom hours, the educational and entertainment program “World without Borders”, sports competitions at the stadium of the school “Excellent worker of the TRP”.All students of the Shchekino SUVU received bright positive emotions and sweet gifts that day.

Our theater seasons

Within the framework of the All-Russian Theater Festival “I Am Not Alone” on September 16, a creative group of the institution’s pupils performed at the theatrical stage of the Gallery on Solyanka, presenting to Moscow audiences a play based on the book “The Eye of the Wolf” by Daniel Pennack (Director – Evgeny Nikitin).This is a touching story about the friendship of an African boy and a Canadian wolf, who found each other in a crowded, but at the same time indifferent and desolate world. The audience gave a standing ovation to the young artists. The teenagers coped well with their roles, fulfilling the task set by the director with an unchildish seriousness, because in this book story there is a lot of personal for each of them: lost families, dead parents, fear of loneliness and hopelessness. The production was attended by 5 students of the Shchekino SUVU: Ivan Khilman, Vsevolod Shabunin, Dmitry Kovalev, Igor Suchkov, Alekseev Zakhar.The project participants and its creators congratulated the children on the premiere and presented the children with certificates for studying in Moscow in the following areas: vocal, theatrical and visual arts.

Orthodox conversations

On September 29, in the Shchekino SUVU, the pupils of the institution met with the priest of the St. Nicholas Church of the village.Pervomaisky Island Andrei (Volynsky). The conversation was dedicated to one of the largest Christian holidays – the Exaltation of the Honest and Life-giving Cross of the Lord. Father told the teenagers about the history of the twelveth holiday and about the meaning of the Cross, which became for all Orthodox Christians after the sufferings of Christ on the Cross and His Glorious Resurrection a symbol of the victory of good over evil, life over death, a reminder of the endless love of God. Father Andrey focused the attention of the children on the careful and reverent attitude towards the Holy Place: “Before the Son of God, all the forces of evil are powerless, therefore Orthodox Christians should honor the Holy Cross, cross themselves with reverence, and wear it on their chest.”In a conversation with the priest, a question was asked about repentance and God’s forgiveness. On November 10, the Shchekino SUVU hosted the Musical Olympus competition and game program.Its participants were two vocal teams of the inmates of the institution. In the game, the contestants had to not only perform five thematic songs, but also demonstrate their knowledge in the field of musical art. Welcome New 2018

On December 31, New Year’s events were held at the Shchekino SUVU. On the stage of the institution’s club in the evening of the last day of the outgoing year, the musical “Fairy Adventures in the New Year’s Forest” was shown, in which the teachers and students of SUVU took part.New Year’s songs, dances and, of course, miracles immersed the audience in the atmosphere of celebration and general fun. At the end of the performance, the participants of the theatrical performance wished the audience a Happy New Year. An unexpected and pleasant surprise for the teachers of the institution were the wishes and words of gratitude from the pupil of the Shchekino SUVU Nikolai Gordeev, graduating from the institution in February 2018.

On January 17, students of the Shchekino SUVU became spectators of a colorful New Year’s performance at the Night Wolves bike center (St.Moscow). Before the start of the show, the guys visited an exhibition of technical creativity of members of the motorcycle club, met and talked with the founder of the motorcyclist movement in Russia and the president of the club A.S. Zaldastanov.

From February 21 to 23, the Shchekino SUVU hosted the Polygon-2018 military sports competition dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day.The main goal of the competition is to form a positive attitude towards military service among young people of pre-conscription age. Opening of the project “Formula for success – work by vocation!”

Khabarovsk Medical College increases the number of budget places and specialties / Strategy / AMURPRESS

According to the Ministry of Health, there is a great need for secondary medical personnel in the Khabarovsk Territory in the region.The shortage of nursing staff is about 450 people. To solve the problem, the regional authorities increased in the Khabarovsk State Medical College named after G.S. Makarov, the number of budget places for 150 people. The enrollment of students was increased due to the specialty “Nursing” and the emergence of a new specialty “Medical massage”, designed for students with visual disabilities.So in the Khabarovsk Territory the issue of adaptation in the society of disabled people is being resolved. Now people with disabilities will be able to be employed in medical institutions of the region.

– We worked for a long time together with the society of the blind and the social block of the government of the Khabarovsk Territory. We recruited 13 people who will study for about 2.5 years. For the convenience of their training, we create all the necessary conditions, purchased specialized teaching aids, equipment and furniture, ” said Valery Sitnikov, director of the Khabarovsk State Medical College named after G.S. Makarova.

He also noted that a nursing department will soon be established at the medical college, where students will specialize in hospice and nursing homes. The curriculum has already been agreed with the Diocese of Khabarovsk, teachers from the theological seminary have been selected.
