Prep Sports Coaching Jobs – High School Coaching Jobs
“The successful coach is a patient teacher, an innovative tactician, and a master motivator. As a teacher, the coach’s main function is to instruct athletes on the basic skills. . . coaches at all levels preach teamwork and strive to develop this elusive intangible. Teaching a group of athletes to play together as a unit is key to becoming a successful coach.” Though the book, The 50 Coolest Jobs in Sports, is focused on college and professional sports, these words are true for the coach in an elementary, middle or high school as well.
Coach Bill Brosseau at Tolt High School in Carnation, Washington, says a coach or P.E. teacher has an opportunity “to help a kid not only on the playing field, but in life.” These are some of the things you’ll need to know, if you want to help kids as their coach:
- How to bring out the physical, social, moral, emotional and spiritual values in sports
- The relationships between sports and education in school
- Safety and first aid
- Adolescent and youth development
- Athletic health, fitness, development and conditioning
- Public speaking
- Group interaction, motivation, stress and play principles
- Sports fundamentals, strategy, tactics, teaching and coaching methods and rules of the game.
If you want to be a coach, you’ve probably grown up loving sports. You enjoy playing, and you like to watch a good game. Go ahead, catch all the games you can, and while you’re at it, check out some sports you’ve never seen before. Visit a high school that has a lacrosse team and learn how it’s played. Watch the local teams play football or baseball, boys and girls teams alike, the ones winning this season and the others who haven’t won a game in seven years. See what their coaches do, right and wrong. As Yogi Berra said, “You can observe a lot just by watching.”
Search Sports Job Listings
Many college students (and even high school students) start as student teachers or volunteer assistants to the coach. Lots of coaches are Physical Education teachers first, before taking a school coaching job. Although it’s not as widespread as in the past, many have to handle both P.E. class and team coaching, as the schools don’t have the staff for two positions. K-12 Coaches can move up a coaching career ladder, from Assistant Coach to Coach, to Head Coach of the high school Varsity teams. Some move up to larger high schools, those with higher reputations for their sports programs, or into college or professional sports coaching. In K-12 Coaching, there are plenty of jobs out there in public, private and parochial schools. Take your pick!
In order to break into the coaching game you’ll need to get involved with coaching. It might be helpful to coach a youth soccer or basketball team for starters (and for instance). Then take it up a notch and get certified to coach at the ‘select’ or all-stars level where more knowledge is a requirement. If you can make this kind of investment and be successful, then elementary school, middle school, junior high and high school coaching jobs may be on your horizon! The key is to get involved and to stick it out.

90,000 Born in Grodno, studied in Minsk, and left to work in Lida. The story of a paid student who asked for distribution of
Anna Melnichek was born in Grodno, studied in Minsk, and left to work in Lida. This year, the girl graduated from the biological faculty of the Belarusian State University. I studied for a fee, but in the last year I decided to ask for distribution – the university did not refuse employment. On August 2, the first entry appeared in Anya’s work book – “teacher of additional education in the Lida regional ecological center for children and youth”.
Mom, Dad, thank you
Monday morning was especially exciting for Anya. Not only was it the first working day, but also the journalists from Minsk arrived. A cup of invigorating coffee, light makeup, an ironed mint-colored dress – and a young specialist is ready to boldly step into a new stage of life:
– I used to say that I don’t want to be a teacher. During my studies, I worked at school, and I liked this experience.By the last year, I no longer doubted that pedagogy was mine, although I could become an ecologist or biologist in many organizations and enterprises. I see many advantages in the teaching profession. I’m partly a marketer, because I have to interest children and keep their attention, I also need to have public speaking skills – to be able to speak beautifully and correctly. I think this job will allow me to grow as a person. No wonder they say: when you share your knowledge and experience with someone, you learn a lot yourself.
Employment record is ready!
Anya recalls that she has always been interested in environmental issues:
– In high school I got carried away with the topic of separate waste collection. The whole family sorted the waste into packages, and then took them with dad to throw them into special containers. When I told my parents that I wanted to become an environmentalist, they were not surprised. I submitted documents to the Belarusian State University, but that year the passing scores turned out to be high, it was not possible to get into the budget. Mom and Dad agreed to teach on a paid basis, only thanks to them, and got their favorite profession.
Life hacks from an experienced mentor
Among the graduates of the biology department of this year, Anya became the only paid student who went to work on assignment:
– I wanted to stay in Minsk in my junior years. I thought that only in this city there are many opportunities for career growth, interesting leisure. Having matured, I realized that you can unleash your potential anywhere. Much depends not on the place in which you live, but on yourself, on what goals you set, what efforts you put in to realize them. I am sure that I will succeed in Lida.
Anya admits: she got into Lida not by accident. When I was in my last year, her young man worked out the distribution here. The girl often came to visit him and, walking along the streets, she understood more and more clearly that she wanted to move exactly here:
– I was looking for vacancies on the Internet and accidentally stumbled upon the site of the Ecocenter.I called the director and asked if they had a job for a university graduate. I was interviewed and I was offered a job referral. The commission for distribution at the university was only for.
Acquaintance with the material and technical base of the center
Anya was welcomed at the Ecocenter: they issued the necessary documents, offered to study the programs of the associations working in the center, which will help determine the directions of future activities. The young specialist liked that the plans could be adjusted and, if desired, made up of their own:
– I have a lot of ideas, it is interesting to study the experience of other specialists, which can be taken as a basis.I liked the Green Professions program. It allows applicants to expand their knowledge of ecology, learn more about specialties with the prefix “eco” and the places where they can be obtained. I noticed that there is no BSU in the list of institutions that students are told about, and I will try to fix it in the near future. For schoolgirls, in my opinion, the program “Secrets of Beauty and Health” will be of interest – it is about cosmetics, diets and proper nutrition.
In August, Anya will work on a payroll – 20 hours a week: from morning to lunch. From September, the workload will increase: the holidays will end, which means that the new academic year will begin in circles and associations of interests. An experienced mentor – methodologist Natalya Biryuk will help a young specialist to join the profession:
– The mentoring system has been operating with us for the third year. Together with Anya, we will develop a program, draw up a work schedule for the associations, and together we will solve current issues. For those in need of housing, our center has a hostel, we were ready to provide Anya with a place, but she decided the housing issue on her own.
SAID
Zhanna Tekhanovich, Director of the Lida Regional Environmental Center for Children and Youth:
– This year we expect five young specialists. Two people have already started work, the rest will arrive in the middle of the month. From September 1, the institution will become a center for ecology, tourism and local history – the directions of work will expand. In August, young professionals will plan training programs and prepare promotional products for their associations. On August 10, the center will host the regional youth ecological festival “Orange”, where our teachers will present circles to schoolchildren, parents and teachers. The traditional week of supplementary education institutions is scheduled for the first ten days of September – this is another opportunity to make oneself known. The average age of the team is 40 years. Fixation of personnel is high. Thus, two young specialists who came two years ago extended their labor relations. We hope that the newly arrived guys will easily join the team and stay with us for many years.
Private kindergarten – elementary school “Little Prince”, Minsk
If we have a brother or sister, there will be no problem finding a kindergarten))
I remember how many questions and doubts arose when it’s time to send your precious child to kindergarten. At that time, my husband and I began to search for our “ideal garden” among the many state gardens. As a result, one kindergarten near the house, which did not live up to expectations at all, was replaced by another, which turned out to be somewhat better.
Taking for granted the very meager food and, despite a number of additional circles, primitive activities conducted with children, we decided that attending developmental schools outside of kindergarten, as well as a variety of homemade breakfasts and dinners compensate for this “small” disadvantage our state institutions. Moreover, the experience of friends and acquaintances indicated the ubiquity of this problem. However, after tinkering after working with the child in different circles and sections, we realized that some of us need to quit work in order to devote ourselves to a noble occupation – the development of our own child. At that time he was 5 years old, and realizing that school was just around the corner, we began to think about it, and not about a simple one near the house, but about a gymnasium – after all, one of our most important tasks as parents is to give the child the most the best education that is only available in our country. It was at this stage that we learned about the “Little Prince” and moved there in the middle of the school year.
Imagine my surprise and to some extent frightened when we discovered that our “smart and developed” child could not cope with the tasks that the children from the Little Prince, one and a half years younger, could easily cope with! Here we saw the colossal difference between the private garden and all the others. Firstly, it is a constant all-round development, which is under the control of a number of specialists. When I came to the kindergarten for my child, I never saw that the children were not doing anything. They do something all the time, someone writes, someone draws, someone designs.Secondly, it is an individual approach to each child, taking into account his character, level of training, temperament. After 2 months, my little son began to pronounce problematic sounds, on the production of which we had spent 6-7 months before. He also learned to read, solve problems, speak competently and all sorts of other things over the next few months.
There is nothing to say about psychological comfort – a kindergarten is a second home where a child goes with pleasure, and from where he does not want to leave in the evening.I can say with confidence: in order to get the same level of training in such a number of subjects, you would have to take a child from an ordinary kindergarten, and only take him to different parts of the city to various children’s centers. young grandmother. We recommend only this garden to all our friends and acquaintances. If we have a brother or sister, the problem with finding a kindergarten will no longer arise))
A huge number of wonderful teachers who work with children with a 200% return, cleanliness, delicious cuisine prepared with love, constant outdoor events in the cinema, theaters, exhibitions give reason to consider the Little Prince – the embodiment of parents’ dreams of an ideal preschool institution in reality.

“I loved Artek very much, and now I no longer have it.” Russian writer Dmitry Bykov – about the Crimean past and modern Russia
Dmitry Bykov – Russian writer, poet and publicist, literary critic, radio and TV presenter, journalist, teacher of literature, film critic. And also – an activist opposed to the modern Russian leadership. In March 2014, Bykov, along with a number of other scientists and cultural figures, expressed his disagreement with the annexation of Crimea by Russia. Periodically comes to Ukraine on tour.
Can a writer influence events in modern Russia? Is a democratic change of power possible in Russia? Is there a “other Russia”? What will happen after Putin? And why did Russian President Vladimir Putin decide to annex Crimea? These and other questions in the studio Radio Krym.Realii in the talk show “Crimean question” presenter Alexander Yankovsky discusses with the Russian writer Dmitry Bykov .
– During the preparation of this program, we asked several people: “What would you be interested in hearing from Dmitry Bykov?” Almost everyone said: “We are interested in everything he says and everything he writes about.” And so my first question is to Dmitry Bykov: since these people said that they like everything that Bykov says and writes, does Dmitry Bykov himself realize that what he thinks, writes and says is somehow influences this world?
If the Bible has existed for two thousand years and people, reading it, still have not become better, then where are we
– You know, you can influence in two aspects. You can lead to some kind of material changes, changes of a political nature or quantitative. And you can have some quality ones. You can console, amuse, somehow influence the memory, heal complexes. I think that individual people, whose number is very small, but, nevertheless, they seem to belong to the same group with me – yes, I can influence them. Most likely, by confirming some of their guesses. And nothing can influence events at the macro level. If the Bible has existed for two thousand years and people, reading it, have not yet become better, then where do we go.
– Do you feel like a free person?
– In literature – yes, but not in life, because I am a taxpayer, a state subject, I depend on borders, covid restrictions. In what I write, I am free. That is why I try not to live most of my life, but to write.
– That is, when you write, you are not living?
– When I write, I do not live: as you know, “the time spent on fishing does not count towards life. ” Consider this my fishing.
– Are free people needed at all in order for something to change in the country? It doesn’t matter which country.
It seems to me that if a person does not consciously join the majority, then this can be considered a manifestation of his inner freedom
– Let’s clarify: not that they are free, but those who are able not to join the crowd. That’s when I discussed with Maria Rozova what kind of person is good from her point of view, she said: “Two conditions are necessary and sufficient: the first is never to join the hooting, poisoning, enthusiastic, in general – to no crowd, and the second is not too respect yourself for it.For example, in her opinion, Solzhenitsyn passes the first criterion. And on the second – no: self-respect is off scale. It seems to me that if a person does not consciously join the majority, then this can be considered a manifestation of his inner freedom. If he is in a hurry to join the masses – poisoning, hating, accusing, enthusiastic, if he feels better and freer in the crowd, then this is not freedom. People who feel better outside the crowd determine the fate of society, they are able to influence it and they, in the end, make the future.
– And they change this or that situation?
– I think so, because they are not afraid. And a person who is afraid cannot change anything by definition.
Writer Dmitry Bykov during the presentation of his books. Moscow, Russia, March 2021
– Are you afraid?
– Not enough to change my program of action. I look around, let’s say. I calculate the consequences, but when choosing between fear and hope, when choosing between fear and desire for change, I still try to choose actions.Change. Because otherwise … Well, you must agree that modern Russia is a very comfortable country for life, if nothing is done in it …
– I cannot agree with you or refute, because I have not been to modern Russia.
If you don’t open your mouth, then Russia is a very comfortable country for life
– You have enough sources of information to understand: if you don’t open your mouth, then this is a very comfortable country for life. That is, absolutely everything. The change of power is needed by a small number of people, and not everyone can see the connection between its irremovability and the deterioration of the quality of life. Accordingly, Russia is a very comfortable country: it really is there now, if you don’t want anything special and don’t think about the future, which is also important, you are a completely happy person. But I still prefer to rock a little while. I don’t know how productive it is, but I feel calmer this way.
“They didn’t want to kill, they wanted to mutilate”
– In 2019 there was information about your poisoning.According to an investigation by The Insider and Bellingcat, this poisoning was an attempted murder, organized by the same FSB officers who organized the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and Vladimir Kara-Murza. Has this poisoning story somehow influenced what you do, think, speak, write?
Have I become more afraid? No. I think it was not an attempted murder of
– You see, when you are in a coma for some time and see some things there, not necessarily determined by medications, then, of course, this somehow affects your consciousness.First of all, it affects in the sense that you are convinced that you are on the right path. It seemed to me that I was on the right one. That is, the things I saw there confirmed that I was doing something right. Am I more afraid? No. I think it was not attempted murder. I think they didn’t want to kill, they wanted to mutilate. Well, they didn’t manage to mutilate. Medicine worked pretty quickly, my wife worked pretty well, who immediately called an ambulance, and the ambulance did everything right.Triggered “Novaya Gazeta” , which quickly sent me to Moscow, paying for the plane. So I can’t say that it influenced me greatly. I just remember the time of recovery as a time of great happiness, because I received a lot of warm congratulations, greetings, read several obituaries about myself from different sides. Enemies responded very vilely, friends – very friendly. In general, I saw that everything was correct.
– There is a question from our audience of Radio Crimea.Realities: “A question to Dmitry as a teacher: have children changed in Russia with the beginning of aggressive militaristic propaganda” (apparently, after 2014, this is meant)?
The philosophy of a besieged fortress – it is always in demand in Russia and is renewed at the first request
– You know, starting with the famous Munich speech, the propaganda was quite aggressive and unequivocally militaristic. The philosophy of a besieged fortress is always in demand in Russia and is renewed on demand. But the fact is that in Russia there is always a huge “air cushion” between propaganda and between the authorities and the population. If people believed in propaganda, we would probably be dealing with an electrified country. This is not happening. On the contrary: Russians cannot be totally agitated for any good deed, no vile deed. Fascism in Russia is impossible. A huge number of people keep a fig in their pockets, a huge number of people mock the authorities. And this always happens – under a liberal government, or under an absolutely non-liberal one.In Russia, the authorities are never trusted, so no propaganda has any effect.
– But on the other hand … Dmitry can you remember yourself, say, in a Soviet school? Did you believe what you are told?
– I was brought up on other things. Firstly, when the Vremya program was running, it was always perceived with a joke, with derision. And, of course, I did not believe in the “horrors of capitalism”, and everyone in our class intensively exchanged Western magazines or candy wrappers. Not to mention the fact that I grew up in an intellectual family, where there was a large amount of samizdat, they listened to a large number of Voices … And my mother was generally engaged in the Silver Age. So something, but truthful information was enough for me. Not to mention the fact that Julius Kim was her classmate, in our house the chronicle of current events appeared quite regularly and seditious songs were performed in the kitchen constantly. And our kitchen was not the only one.
– And when you listened to these songs in the kitchen – did you, your parents, friends – understand what the future [of the country] would be?
Without the intelligentsia, society turned out to be completely unprepared – neither for freedom, nor for change. It was ready for the stall. And this stall was not slow to return
– To be completely honest, we did not have an optimistic picture of the future. Because we have always understood that we are double-dealing. We are not rebels, this is a kind of Shchedrin “riot on my knees”. Therefore, we did not have the feeling that a free society is possible in Russia. A secretly free society is possible in Russia. But secret freedom is a completely different thing. We had rather gloomy expectations for 1985, especially when the anti-alcohol campaign began, and did not feel any idealism about Gorbachev.I’ll tell you more: I considered the Soviet intelligentsia of the 60s and 70s to be the most valuable layer of Soviet society. In the 90s, the genocide of this intelligentsia was actually carried out, it was destroyed. And without it, society turned out to be completely unprepared – neither for freedom, nor for changes, nor for the market, for anything. It was ready for the stall. And this stall was not slow to return.
“People are fighting for their right to be slaves”
– But the same processes were taking place at the same time in Ukraine.Maybe even more harsh. Because there was no oil or gas in Ukraine, and the same intelligentsia was also driven out. But, nevertheless, 2004 came. And if earlier I heard from my Russian acquaintances that what happened in Russia 5-6 years ago is happening in Ukraine, then after 2004 they stopped telling us that “it will be the same with us”. Then there was a rollback of 2010, then – 2014 with all the events. Why is that?
Therefore, Russian identity is a desperate struggle for the right to be slaves, for its state system, its vertical power
– It’s pretty basic. You understand that the ideology of the republics has always been a combination of nationalism and liberalism. That is, nationalism was perceived as freedom. And in Russia, the answer to this was imperialism. There was constant talk that Russia, deprived of all the “outskirts”, ceased to be an empire. That we are in a hostile environment, that territories are biting off us, that the whole world supports the former republics, and we are surrounded along the perimeter and NATO bases are sliding down to our borders. That is, in Russia, oddly enough, nationalism does not imply freedom.Nationalism presupposes an imperial idea – and the fact that they are divorced like this – freedom and nation-building – this leads to an apology for slavery. People are fighting for their right to be slaves … Therefore, Russian identity is a desperate struggle for the right to be slaves, for its own political system, its vertical of power. And we will not have another system, because we cannot exist under a different system – this is hammered into us.
Portrait of Vladimir Putin at a rally following the end of the Russian elections in Moscow, March 18, 2018
– You, among other things, said that this maxim: “There is Putin – there is Russia, there is no Putin – there is no Russia”, is hammered in and often repeated so that people believe that this is really so.On the other hand, you are talking about the fact that it does not matter what the name of this very Putin is. So maybe Russia really – as an empire – cannot exist differently?
– This is not a matter of faith, it is a matter of inertia. Moreover, in a large multimillion country with a long history. The experience of inertia is very powerful. They tried it otherwise, but it didn’t work out. We know that it could be worse, that there could be Stalinist terror in general, with night arrests, executions … “Rejoice that this is so.” This is not Putin’s inertia, it is philistine inertia.
– There is one more maxim that concerns the language issue: “Where the Russian language is, there is Russia.” Do you agree with this or not?
The Cold War, which has resumed today, has led to heightened mutual interest, including in the Russian language
– What is meant by Russia? If culture is unconditional, if power is not. Because, say, the huge Russian diaspora in America does not influence American politics in any way, unlike the influence of Russian hackers. On the contrary: it seems to me that where the Russian language is, there is culture, contacts, traditions. Now I see in America a huge interest in Russian culture, and this is confirmed by the old forecast Lev Losev , who said: “The worse the relationship, the stronger the mutual interest. ” A friend does not evoke such violent emotions as an enemy. And the “cold war” that has resumed today, of course, led to a heightened mutual interest, including in the Russian language.
“Crimea was needed not only for Putin, but also for a large number of people who wanted to be proud”
– Let me remind our listeners that on March 13, 2014 the Russian “Novaya Gazeta” published the text of the appeal of the initiative group for the congress of the intelligentsia “Against the war, against the self-isolation of Russia, against the restoration of totalitarianism.”The text of the appeal, among other things, was signed by the Russian writer Dmitry Bykov, with whom we are talking today. Mr. Bykov, in your opinion, did this letter play any role in the general political process in Russia?
– Since there is no political process in Russia, it did not play any role. It played a role in the fact that its signers are not so disgusted to look in the mirror in the morning, that’s all.
– There was another letter from Russian cultural figures in support of Putin’s policies. In your opinion, was it a voluntary initiative, or, as in Soviet times, was everyone given an order to sign it?
– For someone – absolutely voluntary, for someone – inertial, for someone – “anyway, not worse.” I don’t think these people are homogeneous. I am opposed to all of them being smeared with the same paint and saying that they supposedly ruined their obituary. An obituary, at least in Russia, cannot be spoiled; it is determined only by what you do and how. Russia is a country of professionals: if you are a genius director, they remember your films, if a poet, your poems. And your political messages are forgotten immediately.

– Why, in your opinion, did Putin need to seize Crimea at all?
I think that Crimea was needed not only for Putin. As it turned out, he was needed by a large number of people who would like to be proud of
– I can’t fit into his head. I think that not only Putin needed him.As it turned out, he was needed by a fairly large number of people who would like to be proud. They had few reasons for pride, and this one appeared.
– But the Crimean question itself is: while Putin is alive, is it possible to raise him in Russian society or not?
– I think it’s absolutely pointless: it’s not even about Putin. I think that a huge number of Putin’s opponents also agree that the return of Crimea to Ukraine in the foreseeable future is an absolutely impossible thing.
– Are other processes possible? Have you read Putin’s article “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians”? Does this article mean some kind of manifesto of Putin’s claims to all of Ukraine?
I do not deny the right of Ukraine to break away from the “Russian world”. And for Vladimir Putin, this is a betrayal
– I don’t think so. Rather, it is a claim to some kind of spiritual unity. This is the same demand for love. Russia desperately wants to be loved, to strive for, to be seen as an older and more influential brother. And Ukrainian independence “is not threatened” – provided that you, relatively speaking, “kiss the hand”, that is – “show friendliness” … This is very bad taste, very vulgar, but this is the philosophy that most of the Imperials profess … It seems to me that The USSR was, perhaps, the optimal solution to the national question in this territory. It is another matter that I do not deny the right of Ukraine to break away from the “Russian world”. And for Vladimir Putin, this is a betrayal, of course.
– As it turned out, you worked at Artek.Have you been to this camp as a pioneer?
– No. I was an excellent student and I should have been sent to Artek. It was 1981, but they didn’t let me go there, one of the sons of the district leaders went. And I came to Artek in 1992 to teach journalism to children. Volodya Wagner arranged a change of young correspondents there ( young correspondents – ed. .) “Yunpress”. I taught them journalism, and then I became friends with Wagner and began to travel there all the time. He made the newspaper “Ostrov A”, worked in the press center, came to the detachments, gave lectures.I loved Artek very much, it was my favorite place in the world. And now I no longer have it. Since January 2014, I have not been to Crimea at all.

Annexation of Crimea by Russia
In February 2014, armed men in unmarked uniforms seized the building of the Verkhovna Rada of the ARC, the Council of Ministers of the ARC, as well as the Simferopol airport, the Kerch ferry crossing, and other strategic objects, and also blocked the actions of the Ukrainian troops. The Russian authorities initially refused to acknowledge that these armed men were members of the Russian army. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that they were the Russian military.
On March 16, 2014, on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, a “referendum” unrecognized by most countries of the world was held on the status of the peninsula, as a result of which Russia included Crimea in its composition. Neither Ukraine, nor the European Union, nor the United States recognized the results of the voting in the “referendum”.On March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the “annexation” of Crimea to Russia.
International organizations recognized the occupation and annexation of Crimea as illegal and condemned Russia’s actions. Western countries have introduced economic sanctions. Russia denies the annexation of the peninsula and calls it “the restoration of historical justice.” The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced the date of the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia on February 20, 2014.
