Learn the fundamentals of graphic design at a truly electric New York City pace at the New York Film Academy’s 1-Week Graphic Design Camp, a hands-on immersion experience that quickly teaches campers the skills they need to begin their journey as aspiring designers.

This one-week camp will focus on introducing students to the fundamentals of graphic design — typography, image, layout. Design Camp is a multi-discipline pre-college design program organized by the NC State Design Lab for high school and middle school students. Held each summer, Design Camp informs students about the study of design and raises awareness of the impact of design on all aspects of our everyday lives. The design thinking skills and creative experience gained can empower students on their path toward becoming innovative problem solvers and prepare them to tackle the challenges of the future.
Summer 2021 Updates
The Design Lab is excited to announce that 2021 summer programming will be held virtually through our Digital Design Lab!
After beginning the planning process for both in-person Design Camp and virtual programming for next summer, and weighing many options and the impact of restrictions, our staff has formally decided to hold virtual-only programming for summer 2021. To ensure a quality experience with our programming, and more importantly to guarantee the health and safety of our students, their families, and our community, we are pleased to begin focusing on finalizing our plans for virtual programming.
Our virtual summer programming will include options for middle school and high school students, including a pre-college program specifically designed for rising juniors and seniors. These programs will provide synchronous and asynchronous instruction and activities aiming to broaden students’ understanding of design.

An immersive, residential program covering the range of studio disciplines offered at the College of Design: architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, art + design, and graphic design. Residential camp projects require more time in studio, making the daily schedule much like that of an actual College of Design student. Campers also participate in evening activities aimed at strengthening their critical and creative thinking, deepening their understanding of the design field, and preparing them for college study in design and beyond.
Cost: $1225 (includes housing, meals, instruction, supplies, activities, and insurance)

Media Arts Camps Offer Fun Learning Opportunities
My 6-year-old wants to be a screenwriter when he grows up. He speaks so enthusiastically about his favorite shows that I feel compelled to assure people we really do limit screen time and take him outdoors. He didn’t even finish winter film camp before asking about the next camp session.
Summer camps that teach digital media skills expose kids to the awesome benefits of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), encourage creative thinking, build appreciation for the arts and provide new models for collaborative problem-solving. Digital media camps also promote skills that kids are really excited to learn—like filmmaking, music production and photography. Read on for a closer look at the local camp my son attended, along with other great arts and technology camps in San Diego.
Filmmaking
The most impressive thing about Youth Media & Tech Camp at Media Arts Center is the abundant freedom offered to even the youngest participants. My son attended a winter session, where he and his fellow campers produced two short films from start to finish. The kids did everything! Story ideas were developed entirely by campers. The instructor was there to coach them on the process—collaborative brainstorming, storyboarding and writing—but left the heaviest creative lifting to them. The kids took turns acting out the script and operating the camera. When it was time to edit, they used iMovie with minimal assistance, adding their own visual and sound effects along the way. My son said his favorite part of camp was learning to use a green screen. I’m impressed that he had such a cool opportunity. At the end of the session, campers treated families to a premiere at the onsite theater, Digital Gym Cinema. Everyone was so proud. I can’t recommend this program enough. Digital Art
Digital Media Academy offers a variety of arts and technology summer camps located on the UCSD campus. At Adventures in Animation Camp, kids bring their drawings to life with the same techniques and software used by industry professionals. Music Production camp teaches campers to arrange their own tracks while becoming immersed in the world of composition and sound design. Additional camps cover exciting topics like digital photography and graphic design. Many instructors are industry professionals who started out as campers. Digital Media Academy offers plenty of “unplugged” time during camp sessions, to ensure that kids get ample exercise and playtime during the day. Camps are available for ages 9 and up. Photography
Young shutterbugs (and teens) enjoy the many hands-on Photography Camps at Outside the Lens. Day camps and travel trips are offered at exciting locations around San Diego County. Each session has a unique focus, like nature photography, portraits or trick photography. Filmmaking topics are also covered and include claymation and stop-motion techniques. Each summer, innovative students throughout the five state area have the opportunity to explore a creative career for 2-days, or up to a week or two. They attend a weeklong Project: Design Boot Camp and explore design careers and all that they entitle. They complete design challenges and have the opportunity to meet others that share their interests. Students are able to see their ideas transform from concepts that start on paper into the completed product. Design professionals and mentors reinforce the students to think creatively outside the box.
Program Details
Summer design exploratory camps are offered to students ages 9 to 17. The program fee is inclusive of facilities, equipment, supplies, materials, possible field trips, and snacks/daily lunch. During this week students are introduced to various aspects of the interior design career profession and will get a decorate a room of their choice. Advanced 4-day Sessions: Fashion Design ll, Interior Design ll/Elevations, Fashion Pattern Drafting, and Sustainable Fashion/Accessory Design Boot Camp**
Our most advanced sessions for students ready for more challenge in their design exploration. It is essential that they will need to be self-starting and mature enough to work independently. More time will be spent on attention to details with precision drafting and math for exploring and development of skills needed in the fields of fashion design, pattern drafting, interior design/elevations, industrial design and model making.

WorldSkills Russia organized the first children’s camp in Yakutsk
For the first time in Yakutsk, a children’s camp on the competencies of WorldSkills Russia was organized. 30 children of all ages will be trained in cooking, hairdressing, 3D design and other useful skills, reports YASIA.
The camp is supervised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the season began on August 2 and will last 10 days. The first shift included 30 children.It includes several areas: hairdressing, cooking, 3D design and modeling, photography, video production, as well as the specialties of a cashier and a make-up artist. In addition, educational workshops in mathematics will be held for children.
Children live in two buildings, they have five meals a day and morning exercises. On the first day, the guys went through training and team building games.
As YASIA, 15-year-old Angelica Novogodina, a student of secondary school No. 5 in Yakutsk, told YASIA, her main goal is to learn graphic design at the master classes of the camp.
“I chose this camp because it has WorldSkills graphic design and photography. I draw, I would like to know how to draw it on a graphics tablet, learn how to use different programs. I will associate my future life with design. Well, I take pictures as an amateur in my free time “, – said the participant.
“Parents of children aged 6-7 are already thinking about where to send their child, what profession he will choose, what skill will help him in later life or become a hobby that can bring income.The educational program of the camp includes eight areas, a number of master classes, from hairdressing to graphic design. From September 1, in the Historical Park “Russia – My History”, you will be able to visit the new multimedia exhibition “Alexander Nevsky: The Story of the Life of the Blessed Prince in the Language of a Graphic Novel” (6+), it is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of the Grand Duke and Saint.
This unique animated comic strip is located on an area of 3,500 square meters and is divided into expositions, which will present a biography, important historical dates and the exploits of Alexander Nevsky.For example, the expositions “Rurikovich” and “Romanovs”. On these screens, graphic films will be shown, in which they will tell about the history of the formation of the prince to the victorious commander.
According to the press service of the historical park “Russia is my history”, more than 20 specialists of various profiles worked on the comic: historians, motion designers, artists and colorists from Russia and Europe. Items and clothing items from the archaeological site are the basis for graphic items and the entire piece.
Also, for a greater immersion in history, the conductor of the “Other Orchestra” Alexander Zhemchuzhnikov and musician, publicist Nikolai Shabunevich wrote nine musical compositions.
The creators of the project are promoting the concept of “edutainment” (learning through entertainment). This is a new format for presenting material, it is he who can breathe life into historical facts and make the exhibition interesting for all generations.

I believe that the exhibition should work 24/7 “, – said director Nikita Mikhalkov at the opening of the exhibition in the Historical Park in Yekaterinburg.
