Gonzaga College High School takes pride in its nearly 200-year history of providing a rigorous, values-driven curriculum for young men in the heart of the nation’s capital. But for all its triumphs—from a loyal community of parents and alumni to a seasoned staff—Gonzaga faced a challenge: It needed to move its legacy information systems to cloud-based, modernized systems.
A partnership with Blackbaud helped to reimagine the way Gonzaga connects its entire community of teachers and staff, parents and students, and donors and friends.
The school’s digital transformation yielded immediate results: more families applying, revenue growth, and a drop in late payments—plus invaluable cost and time savings.
Phasing in Change
Gonzaga first became a Blackbaud customer in the mid-90s with simple database tools. Over the years, Gonzaga’s leaders recognized the need for digital growth to provide an exceptional school experience. But they also recognized the challenges that would accompany such change.
The Cloud Solution for K–12 Schools brings together a suite of tools designed specifically for schools such as Gonzaga. Scott Blair, the school’s director of information systems, proposed a gradual cloud solution rollout that would connect every aspect of the school—from records, tuition, and enrollment management to fundraising and its entire online presence—with a strategic change management approach.
Gonzaga’s administrative leadership supported Blair’s proposal, and Blair and other key personnel, including Gonzaga’s chief operations officer, got to work.
“With each successful implementation comes more benefits for our community and more confidence in moving to the next Blackbaud product,” Blair said.
Gonzaga started in the summer of 2017 with a revamp of its “front door”: the website that serves as a digital introduction to the school. A new content management system provided a sleek, responsive website with an easy-to-manage design that uses industry best practices. Gonzaga hired a senior marketing and communications director—a critical step in building the new website, since it involved front-end marketing and communications as well as back-end data configurations.

Jalen Suggs’ highlights show he was stud at QB in high school
It seems Jalen Suggs was one of those transcendent high school athletes, with an outrageously succesful career in basketball and football.
The Gonzaga star stole the show in the Final Four of the men’s NCAA tournament on Saturday. He nailed a game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer from nearly half court to send the Bulldogs to the national championship with a 93-90 win over UCLA.
And as the internet is prone to do, folks began to dig up whatever information it could about the 19-year-old star, considered one of the best prospects in college basketball. Turns out, he was also an elite quarterback prospect in high school. Georgia and Ohio State offered him scholarships after he served as a two-year starter at Minnehaha Academy, which had a 25-1 record (and a state championships) with Suggs at QB.

It’s not totally clear if Suggs would’ve have remained at quarterback, had he joined one of these big programs. Most high school quarterbacks move to a new position in college. But Ohio State coach Ryan Day certainly seemed interested.
“We offered him, and in the end, just didn’t feel like he was going to throw it well enough to come in and play right away,” coach Ryan Day said, in an interview with Yahoo Sports. “I felt like if he spent 100% of his time on football, he had a chance to develop as a quarterback. He was just raw.”
Alabama coach Nick Saban suggested Suggs was on his radar, but didn’t get into the game of second guessing Suggs’ decision.

Suggs clearly made the right call, bypassing football in favor of basketball. The NBA draft is likely to make Suggs a very rich young man with a bright future.

Gabriel Gonzaga: “I’m a completely different fighter”
Former UFC heavyweight title contender Gabriel Gonzaga (16-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) argues that betting in the heavyweight division is much more difficult than picking winners in other weight divisions.

Gonzaga Collection, Palazzo Te – HiSoUR Cultural History
The Gonzaga collection is divided into two parts: coins, weights and measures used in and around Mantua during the Gonzaga era.
The coin section consists of 250 coins issued by the Mantuan Mint. They date from the 13th to the 18th century and are arranged chronologically; There are also 60 coins issued by small mints (16-17 centuries).
Particularly high quality works are made by some of the most famous medalists who worked at court, such as Pisanello, Bartolomeo Melioli, Gian Cristoforo Romano and Sperandio Savelli.
Also on display are stamps, stamps and seals that illustrate the minting of coins and medals in Mantua.
One section is entirely devoted to measuring systems (lengths and capacities) used in the historic state of Mantua.

Palazzo Te
Palazzo Te is a historic and monumental building in Mantua. A fine example of Mannerist architecture, built between 1524 and 1534 by order of Federico II Gonzaga, it is the most famous work of the Italian architect Giulio Romano. Currently, the complex is home to the civic museum, and since 1990, the Palazzo Te International Center for Art and Culture, which organizes exhibitions of ancient and modern art and architecture.
