Dedicated Grid for Sports Racers
To highlight these classic vehicles, the Empire Cup offers a dedicated grid for Sports Racers from the 1950s and 1960s. This special category allows owners and drivers of these vintage machines to showcase their vehicles in a competitive environment.
Historical Significance
Why are Sports Racers from this era so important? These vehicles represent a pivotal period in motorsport history, characterized by rapid technological advancements and iconic designs. Many of the innovations developed for these cars went on to influence both racing and road car design for decades to come.
Spectator Appeal
For spectators, the inclusion of these classic Sports Racers offers a unique opportunity to see and hear these legendary machines in action. It’s a chance to experience the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of a bygone era in motorsport.
Social Aspects of the Empire Cup Racing Event
While the on-track action is the main focus of the Empire Cup racing event, the organizers also recognize the importance of fostering a sense of community among participants. This is reflected in the social elements incorporated into the event schedule.
Traditional Friday Party
A highlight of the Empire Cup racing event is the traditional Friday party. Although the final decision on holding this party will be made closer to the event date, it has been a popular feature in previous years. This social gathering provides an opportunity for drivers, corner marshals, and friends to come together and discuss the day’s racing in a relaxed atmosphere.
Community Contributions
The Friday party, if held, is free for all attendees. However, the organizers encourage participants to contribute in various ways:
- Donations of wine, beer, and sodas are gratefully accepted
- Participants can add an extra donation to their entry fee to help offset the party costs
These contributions help maintain the social aspect of the event while fostering a sense of community among participants.

Beyond the competitive aspects of racing, events like the Empire Cup provide valuable networking opportunities for participants. Whether you’re a driver, team member, or enthusiast, these social gatherings offer a chance to:
- Share experiences and tips with fellow racers

Empire Cup 2021: detailed results
“Empire Cup 2021” was held on a traditional scale: three days of competition, many status groups and top couples among the participants, as well as demonstration performances from students of TSK “Empire”.
By the way, it was at demonstration performances that one could see the leading couples of the club. Semyon Khrzhanovsky – Elizaveta Lykhina and German Pugachev – Ariadna Tishova did not compete at the tournament of their club, but prepared a show. Semyon and Elizaveta were inspired by the film “Venom” – they presented their dance version on the eve of the release of the second part in the cinema. And German and Ariadne made a “dance robbery” of Crocus. Nikita Pavlov and Maria Proshletsova, in their new partnership, presented their version of The Addams Family to the public.
Armen Tsaturyan and Dominika Bergmannova entered the tournament again after only one week and won again. Due to the transfer from a foreign federation in the FTSARR Base, Dominica does not yet have a rank, and also while there is a D-class – the bureaucratic nuances of the transition. Anton Aldaev and Natalya Polukhina confidently took silver, and Alexander Rodygin and Alexandra Chinenkova took bronze.

Holocaust survivor Ben Helfgott, Olympic weightlifter and knight of the British Empire
Orphaned at the age of 15, the 168 cm weightlifter went to the UK, where he became the lightweight champion in 1955, 1956 and 1958, and also represented the country at the Olympic Games 1956 and 1960s.
Ben Helfgott, one of two well-known Holocaust survivors who competed in the Olympics, died Friday at the age of 93, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA).
Helfgott survived the Holocaust as a teenager and went on to become a weightlifting champion and promoter of the Holocaust story. In 2018 he was knighted.
“Sir Ben Helfgott was one of the most inspiring people I have known,” British Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis told the London-based Jewish News, “Sir Ben Helfgott was a charismatic and passionate leader who promoted the values of compassion, understanding, love and peaceful coexistence. His own terrible experience inspired him to work tirelessly to create a more peaceful and connected world, and he inspired us to do the same.”
Benjamin Helfgott was born in Piotrkow (Poland) in 1929. His parents were concerned about their Jewish future in Poland, and in 1935 the family received documents to emigrate to what was then Palestine. But grandma didn’t want to leave, so they stayed.
In 1939, when Helfgott was 10 years old, the Nazis invaded Poland. His family was driven into the ghetto, where his father was engaged in illegal food delivery, Ben himself, since he was a fair-haired child, spent time outside the ghetto without a bandage with a Star of David.
Helfgott spent three years in the ghetto before he and his father were sent to the Buchenwald concentration camp. Other members of his family were deported to Ravensbrück.
In Buchenwald, Helfgott was separated from his father, he later learned that his father was killed while trying to avoid the death march, and he himself was sent to a concentration camp in Schlieben, and then to Theresienstadt, which was released after three weeks. At the age of 15, the future athlete after the hell of the camps remained alive as an orphan.
Then he decided to go to England, where his sister was. There Helfgott discovered weightlifting.
