Nike Basketball Camp Regis University
Brady Bergeson enters his seventh year as the head men’s basketball coach at Regis University in 2021-22. In 2018-19, Bergeson led his squad to a 20-10 record overall and a 16-6 record in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play to enter the RMAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
The Rangers defeated No. 6 seed UC-Colorado Springs in a thrilling 80-78 victory during the first round of the RMAC Tournament.
Senior Jarrett Brodbeck and junior Christian Little were named to All-RMAC First Team while senior Ryan Beisty earned All-RMAC Honorable Mention honors. Brodbeck broke the RMAC record for career three-pointers made, and Beisty became the all-time program leader for defensive rebounds during the season.
Bergeson compiled 27 wins in 2017-18, the second most wins in a single season in program history. With an overall record of 27-6 and 17-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Bergeson and the Rangers claimed their first-ever RMAC Tournament Championship in program history to nab the number three seed in the South Central Region of the NCAA Tournament.
Bergeson then led RU to an 87-82 win over Dallas Baptist in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament, earning their first win in the NCAA Tournament since the 1995-96 season.
Senior forward, Dexter Sienko, was named to the D2CCA All-South Central Region Second Team. He also earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and a spot on the All-RMAC First Team. Junior Jarrett Brodbeck and sophomore Christian Little were named the the All-RMAC Second Team while senior Ty McGee garnered All-RMAC Honorable Mention.
In 2016-17, Bergeson guided the Rangers to their first 20-win season since 1997-98 and first RMAC Tournament bid in nine years. Regis drew a No. 4 seed earning rights to host the first round, which was the first time since 1997-98. RU fell in a battle against cross-town rival MSU Denver 80-73.
Freshman point guard, Christian Little, earned RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year honors while two others were named All-RMAC First Team.
His first year at Regis saw the team compete hard in the RMAC. The team earned a 9-19 record overall, including a 7-15 record inside the conference, marking the most wins in a season since the 2012-13 season. Freshman Jarrett Brodbeck was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year after a stellar first year as a Ranger. Brodeck and sophomore Dexter Sienko were both named to the All-RMAC Second Team in 2015-16.
Bergeson began his duties on April 1, 2015, becoming the tenth head coach of the Ranger men’s basketball program; he is the successor to long-time head coach, Lonnie Porter.
A native of Longview, Wash., Bergeson has served as the head men’s basketball coach at Western Oregon University since 2011. During his four seasons at WOU, Bergeson experienced unprecedented success compiling an overall record of 69-45 (.663). In the school’s NCAA Division II history, Bergeson and staff produced three of the program’s best seasons in just four years.
In his first year at Western Oregon, Bergeson led the team to an 18-10 overall record, the highest win total since the 1996-97 season. He also finished fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), the highest in finish school history.
Following a successful rookie year for the Wolves, Bergeson worked to develop a young squad to ten wins while remaining competitive throughout the 2012-13 season.
The 2013-14 team tallied 18 wins and earned the program’s first postseason victory since joining the NCAA Division II after upsetting Alaska Anchorage in the first round of the GNAC Tournament.
By far his most successful season at WOU was the most recent year of 2014-15. Bergeson captured the program’s first ever GNAC regular season title and made the Wolves’ first ever NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance. Bergeson led a very experienced squad of ten upperclassmen to post an overall record of 23-7 with a GNAC record of 15-3. The Wolves season came to an end in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament after falling to west region No.1 seed Azusa Pacific University.
During his tenure at Western Oregon eight student-athletes were named all-conference with Andy Avgi earning the program’s first Daktronics First Team All-Region honor.
Before leading WOU, Bergeson served as an assistant coach for three seasons at Division I Sacramento State. While there his duties included recruitment and serving as the team’s offensive coordinator. Other duties included regularly assisting with guard development, scouting, and academic development.
Bergeson joins the Regis staff with prior knowledge of the competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as he served as an assistant coach at Metro State in Denver, Colo. for six seasons prior to his move to Sacramento State. During his time at Metro State, the Roadrunners compiled an overall record of 157-38 and a conference mark of 93-21. Each of the years he coached at Metro St. the team won a minimum of 19 games (2002-08) with the 2003-04 team making a NCAA Division II Final Four appearance.
Bergeson will take over a Ranger program that will return 11 lettermen from the 2014-15 season including nine players who started in at least one game.
Named the team’s captain and school’s student-athlete of the year during his senior year, Bergeson played four years of college basketball at Chapman University in Orange, California. While at Chapman, he served as the team’s point guard posting an overall record of 66-34.
In 2007 Bergeson earned his master’s in negotiation, conflict-resolution, and peace-building from Cal State Dominquez Hills. He graduated from Chapman with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Brady and his wife Brooke have two children, Dash and Pilot.

Summer Day Camp – Game On! Sports 4 Girls
DetailsCOVID-19 NOTICE & CAMP UPDATES:
If you have any questions, please contact us at 720-893-2386 or [email protected]
This morning, we received news from BVSD that they will not be allowing access to any facilities through July 31. Therefore, it is with great sadness that we must cancel camp at Douglass Elementary School for Summer 2020. In addition to our Girl Strong Summer E-Camp, we will continue to diligently explore new ways that we can bring Game On! programming to our community, and how we can best support you throughout the summer. And we CAN’T WAIT for an awesome 2021 Summer Camp season!
We have made the very difficult decision to cancel Weeks 3 and 4 of in-person camp (sessions starting June 15 and June 22). To date, we have not received information on whether or not we will be permitted to use our licensed facility. Once we have received that information, we will be able to make a determination on later weeks of in-person camp. We share our families’ frustration and thank you all for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on bringing Game On! programming to our community.
Given the information we have available to us at this time, we have decided to cancel the first two weeks of in-person camp (sessions starting June 1 and June 8). Once additional information and guidelines are made available to us in the coming days, we will make a determination on future in-person camp weeks. Our virtual camp option is in development and more information is coming soon.Welcome to Game On! Sports Camp 4 Girls – Boulder!

Top storylines entering Colorado’s preseason campJeff Smart as a player at Colorado (Photo: CU Athletics)
The promotions given to Wilson and Bryan Cook, and the addition of Turley and Mark Smith to the staff, have been well documented in recent months. But it takes more than the head coach, strength coach, and 10 assistants to field a successful team. There have been some other, less publicized staff changes since the end of the 2020 season:
Jeff Smart has returned to his alma mater after being hired in mid-June as one of CU’s defensive quality control coaches. The Boulder native was a quality control analyst for Missouri in 2020, a defensive coaching assistant for Boise State in 2019, and the outside linebackers coach at Penn for four seasons from 2015 to 2018. After graduating from Boulder High in 2005, Smart joined the Buffs as a walk-on and he developed into one of CU’s top linebackers. He recorded 188 tackles as a player with the Buffaloes.
Matt Butterfield began his coaching career as a student defensive assistant at CU, then spent time at UCLA, Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Bucknell and Cal before returning to Boulder. Butterfield helped former defensive coordinator Tyson Summers at CU in 2019, then worked with offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini in 2020. He remains on the offensive staff this year, and has been elevated to be one of CU’s five quality control coaches.
Connor Boyd is in his first year as a defensive graduate assistant with the Buffaloes, as he joined the staff in February. He came to CU from Tennesee, where he was a volunteer defensive assistant for the 2020 season. He previously coached at Jacksonville State for two seasons. Boyd will help with CU’s defensive backs.
Kyre Hawkins is the latest addition, as he joined CU’s staff as a defensive graduate assistant just last week. He had previous grad assistant experience at ECU and Emory & Henry. Hawkins lists himself as an assistant defensive line coach, the role Aziz Shittu handled in 2020.
Chris Reinert, Reggie Moore and William Vlachos return as quality control coaches, while Donovan Williams and Jason Grossman have both returned as offensive graduate assistants.
Showcase Exposure & Elite College Basketball CampsThe Truth About Showcase “Exposure” & Elite College Basketball Camps
Now that the 2017 April NCAA “evaluation” or “live” periods have ended, many players are looking forward to the the next evaluation period in July. However, in between now and then, players often times attend “showcase/exposure” and/or “elite” basketball camps, so I wanted to provide some facts on showcase and elite basketball camps as NOT all basketball camps are created equal.
Let’s start with the difference between so-called exposure and elite basketball camps. Showcase (exposure) camps are typically run by private organizations and companies with the goal of bringing in as many talented players as possible, having them play against each other, scouting them, and often times ranking them.
Elite basketball camps are put on by actual colleges and universities who try to bring in as many of their recruits as possible as well as other talented players with the goal of increasing their talent pool of which to recruit from.
There are positives and negatives to both showcase and elite basketball camps, and to be clear, not all showcase and elite basketball camps are run in between the April and July live periods, but many are, especially college basketball elite camps. Exposure basketball camps are typically run throughout the year, mostly in the fall, spring, and summer.
We’ll delve a bit deeper into each basketball camp starting with showcase camps.
Showcase/Exposure Basketball Camps
For the most part, I think showcase basketball camps are a SCAM that sucker players and parents into paying money to come to a “camp” with the promise of getting kids exposure, which can lead to college scholarship offers. There are a few reasons I’m not a huge fan of these events:
- I put camp in quotation marks because typically all these events consist of is dividing players up into teams and simply letting them scrimmage or play games. There is usually no teaching or skill work or anything like that, so the team “camp” is not a great word for them.
- Division 1 and Division 2 coaches are only allowed to evaluate prospects during official NCAA evaluation periods, so they aren’t allowed to come to these camps. If there is a exposure camp held during a live period, there typically aren’t a lot of coaches there anyway because they’re at AAU events watching teams play.
- The highly-rated, sure-fire D1 prospects are usually given free entry to these camps, so that later on, when they sign with a Division 1 school, the showcase camp can put that player on their list of “alumni” and claim that they helped that kid get a scholarship. Future players and parents will then see that and think “if it worked for that kid then it will work for me/my kid” when little do they know that player was going to get scholarship offers regardless of the camp.
- College coaches typically don’t listen to these so-called scouting services that often times run these showcase or exposure basketball camps. They get blasted daily by all sorts of scouts and scouting services talking about this kid or that kid and most of the time the emails go to spam or the coaches just delete them without ever reading them. Think about it, the more kids a scouting service can say they helped play in college, the better for them, so they often claim kids are better than they are. A college coach then might go see kids claimed to be a prospect by this scouting service one too many times before they lose all trust and just stop listening altogether.
Again, these are generalizations, but true of the majority of showcase or exposure camps or scouting services. They’re just trying to make money off players and parents hopes and dreams.
Fortunately, there are some good ones out there like Phenom Hoop Report out of North Carolina, the Hoop Group Academic Elite Camp, the Jay Bilas Skills Camp, etc., but parents and players must do their homework before paying money to attend.
The main positive most showcase camps have going for them is that since they do typically get a decent amount of talented players all competing to play at the next level, they are often times a good place for players to get a feel for who their competition is and where they fit in that mix. Just don’t expect to pay a couple hundred bucks, go to a camp or two, and then have college scholarship offers come raining down.
If you’re going to these camps you need to be sure that your game is as tight and ready as it can be. As NBA Skills Trainer Drew Hanlen would say, you don’t want to spend your summer getting exposed when you could have been improving.
Elite College Basketball Camps
Elite college basketball camps are a much more legit product all around as they are run by actual college coaches on their school’s campus and they have a bit more of a true camp feel to them, so let’s start with the positives.
- Elite basketball camps are, like I said, run by college coaches, who are the actual decision makers when offering basketball scholarships, not “scouts”. Going right to the source, skipping the middleman so to speak, and having the opportunity to showcase a player’s skills in front of the actual decision makers is a great benefit.
- These basketball camps typically have a serious skill work component and often times also film study and a college-style practice on top of scrimmaging and games, so the benefits to the player go far beyond getting “exposure”.
- Although one one of the negatives of going to a D1 elite basketball camp is that only D1 school will have coaches there (obviously), there are typically other D3 schools that will come watch as well. This is a great benefit as these are more decision makers and more options for a player to potentially play college basketball.
Like I said, the main negative to an elite college basketball camp is that a player will play just in front of that specific D1 school and no others.
Moreover, that school may only have 1-3 scholarships for that player’s class and with a hundred players at the elite camp as well as thousands more throughout the country that aren’t at camp, the chances aren’t great that a scholarship offer will come out of attending an elite college basketball camp.
With all of that said about showcase/exposure and elite basketball camps, and not wanting to end on a negative note, I believe that these basketball camps are all tools that can be used in combination with others, like playing on a good AAU team for instance, to give players the BEST chance possible to play college basketball.
Showcase camps can be used to play against other good competition and to figure out where they stand in comparison to this competition.
College elite basketball camps can be used to get a better sense of a specific college and the college basketball experience, as well as the opportunity to play in front of the actual scholarship decision makers.
When used thoughtfully and in combination with other tools, showcase and elite camps can be useful on the journey towards getting a college basketball scholarship or recruited.

“School of basketball” SIBUR – “Zenith” “
SIBUR, together with the Russian Federation of Basketball and the Zenit Basketball Club, continues to implement the Basketball School social project.
The geography of the program covers 8 cities where SIBUR together with the National Basketball Association (NBA) reconstructed basketball courts – Voronezh, Togliatti, Tomsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Perm, Tobolsk, Dzerzhinsk and Blagoveshchensk (Amur Region).
The regional qualifying stage for boys aged 11-14 will be implemented according to a new program developed by the RBF for testing the skills of basketball players of various ages. This will allow attracting a significant number of basketball specialists to the project and will provide an opportunity for both players and their coaches to systematically improve their skills thanks to the whole range of activities of the Basketball School.
Based on the results of the screenings, 3 basketball players in each age category will be selected in each city, together with personal trainers, who will receive tickets to the #SIBURCAMP summer camp in Anapa. In addition, the most talented players will be included in the RBF database and become members of the “Golden Reserve” with the possibility of being on the list of candidates for the junior national team of Russia in the future. In 2017, 1,050 athletes aged 12-16 took part in the regional stages of the project, 330 coaches attended methodological seminars.
As in the two previous seasons of the project, the selection in the regions will take place with the direct participation of the trainers of BC Zenit – Mladen Manoilovich and Oleg Aktsipetrov.
An important innovation is the addition of an educational block for children’s coaches and physical education teachers to the program. A three-day certification under the direction of the leading coaches of the Russian national basketball teams will take place in the fall in all cities of the project. As a result, the participants will receive certificates of professional development from the RFB.
Andrey Kirilenko, President of the Russian Basketball Federation:
– We are very pleased to cooperate with SIBUR, thanks to which our nearest reserve is being reviewed. In this regard, it is impossible to overestimate the importance of the regional stages and the #SIBURCAMP summer camp. In general, SIBUR is now helping the RFB in several projects at once. ”Igor Onokov, general director of BC Zenit:
– This is the third season of the program, the geography of the Basketball School is becoming wider. SIBUR provides an opportunity for more and more young athletes to join basketball, and Zenit is happy to be a part of such a significant project. It is very important to pay attention not only to the selection of talented guys, but also to work with their personal trainers. Then the project will have a long-term effect – mentors will be able to use the knowledge gained during the Basketball School, improve their level and contribute to the development of young basketball players. Our project is a real opportunity for talented players to prove themselves in front of experienced coaches and get incomparable experience that will help them in their future careers. ”Dmitry Konov, Chairman of the Board of SIBUR:
– Our initiatives aimed at the development of children and youth basketball and the creation of sports infrastructure have been logically developed in the new season of the Basketball School.Coaching qualifications are the foundation of professional basketball. We hope that thanks to the joint efforts of SIBUR, RFB and BC Zenit, young athletes will have a chance to show their skills and get into the Golden Reserve, and the quality of basketball in the country will reach a new level. ”
