Coaching Staff:
Ronald Hughey
Head Coach
Ronald Hughey just completed his fifth season as the Head Coach of the University of Houston Women’s Basketball team. The 2018-19 season saw Hughey’s Lady Cougars achieve their highest regular season finish since joining the American Athletic Conference and a second consecutive berth in the WNIT. Hughey arrived in Houston in 2014 with 10 years of Division I coaching experience and is widely thought of as one of the profession’s rising stars, as he has helped guide five different schools to postseason appearances in each of the previous seven years, including taking six consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament with four separate programs. In just five years as head coach at Houston, he has led the program to consecutive top-5 finish in the American Athletic Conference, a 20-win season, and two WNIT berths.
Victoria Picott
Associate Head Coach
Before joining the Cougars’ staff in 2016, Picott most recently served as an assistant coach at Wagner College in New York, after spending 11 seasons on the bench at Vanderbilt. During her time with the Commodores, Picott helped lead the Commodores to three SEC Tournament Championships, four trips to the Sweet 16 and saw her team finish in the Top-25 national rankings eight times. Picott began her coaching career in 1991-92 as a student-assistant at her alma mater, Rutgers, before moving to the high school ranks in 1993-94 as the freshman girls basketball coach at Hightstown High School, Picott’s high school alma mater, in Central New Jersey. As a collegiate player Picott made her mark at Rutgers, finishing her career in the school’s top 5 in scoring, rebounding, and steals, earning her a place in the Rutgers Hall of Fame. She continued her professional career overseas before becoming a full-time coach.
Tai Dillard
Assistant Coach
Former Ole Miss assistant coach Tai Dillard was brought in as an assistant coach by head coach Ronald Hughey in 2014. Dillard came to Houston with seven years of Division I basketball coaching experience under her belt, after spending the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach at Ole Miss, mainly working with Rebels’ backcourt. Prior to her stint at Ole Miss, Dillard spent a year at USC, serving as an assistant coach under former Lakers legend Michael Cooper during the 2012-2013 campaign.
Jamila Ganter
Assistant Coach
Ganter joined the Cougars in 2015 after three season at Stephen F. Austin, in the Southland Conference, where she served as an assistant coach and undertook the primary role for recruiting with special attention to the Houston area. While with the Ladyjacks, Ganter helped lead the team to back-to-back Southland Conference Championships in 2014 and 2015 as well as postseason appearances in the WNIT and WBI. Ganter played at Texas A&M from 2003-2006 before beginning her career as a student-assistant coach and intern for Texas A&M during the 2007-08 season. In her tenure in College Station, Ganter was part of an Aggie squad that claimed Big 12 Conference regular season and tournament championships, and made Sweet 16 and Elite 8 appearances.
holiday camps — ATX Ballers Sports Camps
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT FOR SUMMER CAMPS ENDS MAY 1st! Scroll to the bottom for registration!Safety GuidelinesHere is our plan for adhering to all safety guidelines from both the state of Texas and the CDC:
Indoor camps will conduct temperature checks for every coach, player, and parent upon entering.
Masks are to be worn during the check-in and checkout process each morning or afternoon.
Campers will not be required to wear masks — unless a parent prefers that their own kiddo wear a mask — as wearing masks during physical exercise and hot temperatures is uncomfortable for children. (Please note that if a camp is held on a school district’s campus, that district may require player masks.)
Each morning, coaching staff and players will be screened for any of the Covid-related symptoms. If they have any symptoms, they will be sent home immediately.
The camp director and lead coach will be closely monitoring staff, players, and parents to ensure that safety protocol is closely and consistently followed.
Campers are to bring their own snacks, lunches, and water each day. There will be no sharing allowed between campers from different households.
There will be several hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the gym or court areas.
For indoor camps, it is preferred that parents drop off their athletes and leave.
Any parent/guardian who is outside of their car must always adhere to the 6-foot physical distancing guidelines and it is suggested that they wear a mask, even if your camper is participating in an outdoor camp.
Parents and siblings who MUST enter the gym or court area are asked to sit in a designated area and wear masks.
Coaching staff will sanitize the bleachers, restrooms, tables, and any other areas where kiddos are frequenting during breaks; Coaches are to sanitize bathrooms only when kiddos are not present in the restroom.
Campers will participate in lessons with the same small group for the entire week, and will not interact with other groups throughout the camp. Kiddos are split into age-appropriate groups.
Campers will be allowed to sit in small groups during lunch and breaks, and stay with those same groups during each camp day.
For indoor camps, parents will pick up their kiddos from their cars; coaches will be outside to check out the kiddos as they depart each day.
We will keep the same ball in the camper’s hands all week
*If any of the camps are canceled due to the Covid pandemic, and there are no nearby alternative locations, families will receive a full refund.

Register Now!!We feature two types of basketball camps at ABA. The first is in partnership with Breakthrough Basketball, in which we offer basketball camps from Spring through Fall that range from beginner to advanced and are designed for youth from fourth grade through high school.
The second type of camp we offer as your child advances in basketball are our ATTACK basketball camps. These camps feature more specialized drills and techniques to build upon a strong fundamental skills core. These targeted camps give kids position-specific training, teach them how to read and react to their fellow players, and deliver measurable results.
ABA camps are designed to work on the core fundamentals of the game in
a format which covers all five aspects of basketball – passing, shooting,
defense, rebounding, dribbling.
We spend a lot of time developing footwork, which is the foundational skill that allows all the other skills to happen. “If you find your feet, you find your game.” We focus on intermediate to advanced players from fifth grade through high school.
We coach the clinics using the part-whole method. This means we break the fundamental skill down with the individual player (part method) first, ensuring comprehension. Then, we put them in a team with other players so they can implement the skill (whole method). In these team concept situations, we also take time to focus on decision-making. Our goal is to create impact players, which are players that affect the game the way they want to.
Our basketball camps are entirely unique because we not only concentrate on building a player’s basketball skills, but their character. We integrate character development and mental conditioning lessons into every aspect of the camps. We want our players to understand that the mental aspect is 80% of being a top-notch basketball player. If you master your mind the skills will follow. ABA camps can be as short as two days for two hours per day or as long as three days for six hours per day. Our longer, more advanced camps also include film study and each player gets a notebook with a place to take notes and a complete guide to the camp curriculum to study.

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world. This sport is still the most popular in the United States: the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship has been the strongest national club tournament in the world for over 50 years. History of the Dachau concentration camp – Biographies and information
TASS-DOSSIER.75 years ago, on April 29, 1945, American troops liberated the Dachau concentration camp.
Dachau was the first concentration camp established in Germany after Adolf Hitler came to power. The camp, which occupied 230 hectares on the outskirts of the Bavarian city of Dachau, began operation on March 22, 1933. Initially, it was intended to contain about 5 thousand politicians and church leaders who opposed the regime, as well as Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals and the mentally ill, who, according to Nazi ideology, were considered “enemies of the German Reich.”During World War II, prisoners of war, mostly Soviet, were also sent to Dachau. Despite the fact that the camp was significantly expanded, it was constantly overcrowded (at the time of liberation in 1945, there were 32 thousand people in it).
In Dachau, a system of punishments was practiced, including physical and psychological abuse of prisoners, which was later extended to all Nazi concentration camps. Here, leaders and guards for other camps, as well as soldiers of SS formations, were trained, for which a training ground was opened (during the exercises, prisoners of war were used as live targets). An SS unit “Dead’s Head” was formed to guard the concentration camps.
In 1942, a gas chamber and a crematorium were built in the camp (gas chambers in Nazi Germany were used since 1939 as part of the “T-4” program aimed at destroying people suffering from severe hereditary diseases and mental disorders in order to prevent the birth of inferior children ).
In Dachau, medical experiments were carried out on prisoners (to study the effects on the body of cold, pressure, gases, toxic agents, infection, and others).Surgical experiments were performed, often without anesthesia.
Subcamps
Since 1942, more than 150 subcamps were formed, to which prisoners from Dachau were sent to work for the German military industry (the practice of creating a network of such camps was also used in other large concentration camps, including Buchenwald). The largest auxiliary camps in Dachau were Kaufering and Mühldorf, located near the city of Landsberg am Lech. The exact number of prisoners who worked in the underground aircraft factories created here is unknown.According to some estimates, there were at least 30 thousand
Prisoners of Dachau
According to various estimates, from 42 thousand to 70 thousand people died in Dachau, including 7 thousand Soviet prisoners. During the entire existence of the camp, it contained about 250 thousand people from 24 countries.
Among the prisoners of Dachau were the Austrian psychiatrist Viktor Frankl (later the creator of the logotherapy method) and the French scientist Georges Charpac (1992 Nobel Prize winner in physics).
The German Georg Scherer, who ended up in a concentration camp in 1935 as a member of the Socialist Workers’ Party, was soon appointed its headman. In this capacity, he contributed to the rescue of those prisoners who were threatened with destruction in the gas chamber, placing them in the camp infirmary. Scherer was assisted by Walter Neff, a prisoner from Austria who worked there. Scherer, liberated in 1941, and Neff, who escaped from the camp in March 1945, organized an underground anti-fascist organization in Dachau. On April 28, 1945, when American troops approached Dachau, they, intending, among other things, to prevent the destruction of the prisoners remaining in the camp, raised an uprising in the city, which was suppressed a few hours later.
Liberation
On April 26, 1945, a part of the guards and its commandant, Eduard Weiter, left the concentration camp. Martin Weiss, who took his place, fled on 28 April. On April 29, troops of the 7th US Army entered the territory of the concentration camp. About 600 Wehrmacht and SS soldiers who were there were captured and shot on the same day.
In November-December 1945, a tribunal created by the US military command held a trial in the case of the administration and protection of Dachau (took place on the territory of the camp). All 40 defendants were found guilty, two of them were sentenced to 10 years in prison, the rest, including the chief camp doctor Karl-Klaus Schilling and commandant Martin Weiss, were sentenced to death. The second trial took place there at the beginning of 1947. As a result, Alex Piorkovski, the camp commandant in 1940-1942, was sentenced to death, 116 people were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. The death sentences were carried out at the end of May 1946 and in October 1948 at Landsberg am Lech prison.
A museum was opened on the site of the concentration camp in 1965 at the initiative of the surviving prisoners who united in the International Committee of Dachau, with the financial support of the government of Bavaria.

According to local media reports, several of the victims are in critical condition.
Six people were injured in the shooting in Brian, Texas. This was announced on Thursday, April 8, by the American television channel CNN, citing Lieutenant Jason James from the city’s police department.
The incident took place at an enterprise that produces furniture.
According to the channel, the condition of several victims is critical. The shooter has not yet been detained.
City police on Twitter said that all of the injured were hospitalized.”The suspect remains at large. The investigation is still in progress,” added the law enforcement officials.
US President Joe Biden reacted to the incident. According to him, the use of weapons in the United States has become an epidemic and an international shame, which “annually they cost the state $ 280 billion.”
Also, speaking in the Rose Garden of the White House, he said that the country is expecting measures to tighten regulation in the field of arms trafficking.
At the same time, he stressed that the proposal of his administration does not contradict the second amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees the right of citizens to keep and carry weapons.
“Today we are taking steps to confront not only the crisis related to the use of firearms, but also what is actually a crisis in the health sector. Nothing that I am going to recommend will affect the second amendment in any way,” leader.
Biden said that in the US “316 people are shot every day and 106 of them die,” the White House owner continued, adding that the government “has a duty to ensure the safety of its citizens.”
“This is an epidemic that needs to be stopped,” he repeated.
The president also called for “to ban assault weapons and high-capacity stores in his country.”
Biden called for a fight against the American arms lobby, depriving it of support from the legislative branch of government.
“And we also need to strip the firearms manufacturers of the immunity that Congress grants them. The only industry in America that cannot be sued is the firearms manufacturers,” the head of state said.

Basketball is great! And what else?
A healthy lifestyle is a habit that is easiest to instill and consolidate in childhood, which is what we do.Hateful (as a rule) exercise becomes an exciting pastime in our basketball camp. All the “eagles” are just waiting for the morning to jump out of bed as soon as possible and run a race to the formation. Do not forget how much else there will be besides training: delicious and varied food, swimming in the sea, playing on the sand, contests and holidays, entertaining trips and excursions.
