========== Part 1 ==========
The school corridor was crowded with puzzled students hurrying to go to their classes. The noisy sound of lockers constantly closing and opening was a common occurrence during breaks, the rumble was complemented by ringing laughter and interested conversations. Today’s sunny day was no exception. A few minutes remained before the bell rang, and excited schoolchildren fussily moved along the expanses of the corridor, mixing into a rainbow band, as if a fast train was speeding along rails. A pretty brown-haired man was walking along the light smooth floor, who was so deep in his own thoughts that everything that happened around him was an empty, insignificant sound for him. He walked down the hallway thoughtfully. Suddenly, the guy felt someone tug sharply on his jacket.
– Liam, are you okay? Scott’s voice came from behind him. You are very strange today.
– Can’t you guess why? Liam slowly turned to face Scott. “Today is a full moon: the probability that I will kill someone increases a hundred times.
“Stop freaking out about this,” Scott slapped Liam in a friendly manner on the shoulder without too much force. – You can do it.
“I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you,” Liam replied in a disappointed voice, his eyes fixed on the floor. “I’m not an alpha like you, Scott.
With a sad face, Liam slung a black backpack over his shoulder, from which a lacrosse stick was peeking out, and walked down the corridor without turning around. Scott straightened his blue shirt and hurriedly pulled out the correct textbook from his brown backpack. Around the corner of the corridor appeared a guy in a red plaid shirt with a ridiculous smile on his face. He surreptitiously ran up to Scott, gave him a hard shove in the side, and jumped aside with some apprehension. The guy eagerly waited for the reaction of his friend, but he remained, surprisingly, calm and motionless.
– Scott, where are you? Stiles asked warily, snapping his fingers in front of Scott’s face. What are you talking about with Liam? He sat with a stone face for the whole lesson and did not even say a word to me. I won’t sit at the same desk with him again.
– Poor Stiles will die without communication, – Scott looked at Stiles with a sly smile and leaned on his locker. Now I know how to deal with you.
“Very funny,” Stiles rolled his eyes disdainfully and shook out his dark hair. “Whether you’re a wolf or a human, you can’t handle me. I’m just ruthless in battle.
“Of course you’re right,” Scott snorted with an eloquent grin. – Running away from an opponent at breakneck speed is very threatening.
“Don’t wake the beast in me, Scott,” Stiles’ eyes sparkled with slight fury. So what’s up with Liam? I saw you talking.
– Worried about the full moon, – Scott sighed heavily, sniffling. “Last time he almost killed his father. This does not give him rest.
– Maybe it’s time for the leader of the pack to have a serious talk with him? Stiles blurted out importantly, looking slyly at Scott. – Remorse of conscience crippled the beta in earnest.
“Liam won’t even listen to me,” Scott said indignantly, his brown eyes sparkling with displeasure. As long as he doesn’t do stupid things.
– What are you talking about? Stiles raised his eyebrows in surprise. What is Liam going to do?
“He made the decision to chain himself in the school basement,” Scott said with obvious indignation. Liam is terribly afraid of hurting someone.
– Again? Stiles’ eyes widened in shock. “It’s not the first time Liam has transformed. I do not understand what the problem is.
“You don’t have to understand that,” Scott replied in a serious tone, pulling his jacket over his shoulders. “I went through the same thing, so I understand that his fears are not at all groundless.
“Great,” Stiles said ironically. – Again, the human essence underestimates my self-esteem.
“Come on, Stiles,” Scott encouraged Stiles with a wave of his hand. – Your smart head is worth two wolves. I’m telling you as an alpha.
As the heated, unrestrained conversation between Stiles and Scott continued confidently, Liam slowly walked towards the dining room. A painful picture of his past transformation convulsively rose in his head: his father froze in fear near the kitchen stove in complete darkness and looked at him with a frightened look. At that moment, Liam had absolutely no control over himself and his wolf instincts. The guy clearly remembered only that he wanted to pounce on his own father and bite through his neck. Just a vague memory of it gnawed at him from the inside. Liam was grateful to Scott for once again saving him and not letting him kill his own father. But one thought pressed on him like a heavy hammer: he considered himself a bloodthirsty monster and reproached himself for not being able to save people the way Scott did. Worrying thoughts washed over him.
He completely forgot where he was going and why.
Liam was awakened from his drunken nightmare by a pleasant girl’s voice. He slowly raised his eyes and looked at the girl who was addressing him.
– Hello, can you tell me how to get to the history room? – cheerfully muttered a girl with pale blue eyes.
Liam looked intently at her beautiful face, breathing vivacity and youth. It seemed as if one could drown in her sensual eyes, as in a turbulent sea. Dark hair flowed over her shoulders in large curls, emphasizing a graceful neck. She was wearing a light floral dress, and a cropped denim jacket covered her bare shoulders. The tense silence confused the girl, but she immediately guessed its reason and smiled embarrassedly.
“Directly down the hallway, second office on the right,” Liam choked out, trying to avoid the lingering confusion.
The blue-eyed beauty nodded gratefully and confidently picked up her black bag on her shoulder, about to leave. Once she took a few steps, Liam finally decided to try his luck.
– What’s your name? Liam’s voice was already firm and resolute, looking at the girl attentively.
– Mia Danvers, – the brown-haired woman smiled cordially, winked at Liam, and followed straight down the corridor.
========== Part 2 ==========
Dark clouds shrouded the full moon, which burned brightly in the arms of the night sky. The sky, hidden from the cold wind, was enveloped in a black-blue veil, stitched with sparkling stars. The moonlight was darkened by ghostly clouds, which covered the empty, sleepy streets with their mysterious, all-consuming darkness. No human soul was visible anywhere, only the alarming whistle of a lonely wind broke the silence that reigned in Beacon Hills. In residential buildings, light was on, breaking through the windows to the street. The time was not so late: only ten o’clock in the evening. It was an ordinary Friday night, when tired city dwellers in cozy houses sit in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot tea and enjoy cordial communication with the family.
