Dylan Molloy finished second on the Lizards last season with 42 points (28 goals, 14 assists).
Though no date has been set for the beginning of the 2020 Major League Lacrosse season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several coaches expressed to US Lacrosse Magazine prior to the collegiate draft that a July 4 start could be feasible.
Through the end of this week, US Lacrosse Magazine will release previews for each of the six teams, going alphabetically by city. Check back each day to learn about another team.
These previews appeared in the May/June edition of US Lacrosse Magazine. Don’t get the mag? Subscribe today.

MVP Watch
Dylan Molloy
Playing for his hometown team, Molloy was a force in his first season with the Lizards.
He finished second on the team with 42 points (28 goals, 14 assists). He was the MVP of the 2019 MLL All-Star Game and even made SportsCenter for a play that resulted in a goal against the Boston Cannons.
He showed an impressive amount of physicality with multiple bull dodges that left opponents on the ground. Molloy is the top returning scorer on New York, and he will be counted on to produce like he has since entering the league in 2017. In his career, he is averaging 2.6 goals and 3.7 points per game.
Under the Radar
Brendan Kearns
New York will need to put the ball in the back of the net more in 2020 after finishing last in the league in goals scored last summer.
Often, the team was trying to find which pieces fit into the larger puzzle. Kearns made a strong late push to earn a roster spot and be a bigger contributor in 2020. In his debut on August 10, Kearns scored two goals and added two assists against the Rattlers. In five total games, Kearns scored 13 goals and added four assists.
Losses
Scott Corcoran (D), Rob Pannell (A), Greg Puskuldjian (FO)
Additions
Griffin Barnathan (SSDM), Benny Borgognone (LSM), Colin Burke (M), Bobby Duvjnak (D), Michael Mayer (D), Connor O’Hara (A), Joey Panariello (A), Andrew Pettit (M), Connor Waldron (M), Tommy Wright (D)
Burning question
Who initiates the offense?
For the past seven years, Rob Pannell has led the Lizards in points, a balanced threat to either score or dish an assist. With Pannell’s move to the PLL, who will step up to lead the Lizards offense in 2021?
The team moved players around last year trying to find roles that fit, and the second-leading scorer Dylan Molloy (28 goals, 14 assists) did find himself as the X attackman on occasion, but he’ll need more help on attack.

New York City Marathon 2022: stream, participants, favorites, schedule.
November 6 will host the most massive and one of the most prestigious marathons in the world

On Sunday, November 6, New York will host the final of the six most prestigious athletics major marathons in the 2022 season.
More than 50 thousand amateur athletes will start the 51st cult race at a distance of 42 km 195m route starting at the Verrazano-Narrows Suspension Bridge and ending in Central Park. On the hilly paths of the latter, in the fight against head and side winds, it is often decided who will win and take the prize.
Traditionally, the New York City Marathon is held without pacemakers, which means that on a difficult track in the Big Apple, athletes can only focus on their own feelings. In order to finish first in the legendary race, it is necessary not only to run fast (and records are extremely rare here), but also to ideally distribute forces over the distance.
This is not always possible even for superstars – Olympic champions and winners of other majors. So last year, the great Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele (only Eliud Kipchoge ran faster than him 42 km 195 m), and at that time the world record holder at the half marathon distance Kibiwott Candy from Kenya.
The Moroccan Mohamed El-Arabi and the Italian Iyob Faniel unexpectedly turned out to be higher than them in the final protocol . These two athletes successfully implemented the tactics of an early break – only Kenyan Albert Korir managed to get ahead of them.
This year, the winner of the 2021 marathon is not even among the top ten athletes in the elite group, based on their personal records – the organizers managed to put together such a strong lineup. The main favorite of the 2022 race is the compatriot of Korir Evan Chebet . In the spring, the 33-year-old marathon runner won a major in Boston. Given that the track in Massachusetts is hardly easier than in New York, and the best time in Chebet’s career is five minutes better than Korir (2:03.00 vs. 2:08.03) – the chances of the latter to defend the title are not quoted high.
However, the group of contenders for victory is not limited to the Kenyan tandem.
The start list includes the strongest athletes from all continents: Major winner in London 2021 Shura Kitata from Ethiopia (he finished second in the Big Apple in 2018), Rio 2016 bronze medalist and Chicago 2021 vice-champion Galen Rapp from the USA, former Japanese record holder Suguro Osako , South American record holder Daniel Du Nascimento from Brazil, Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Abdi Nageye from the Netherlands, as well as Moroccan El-Arabi, who lost only to Korir last year.
For women, the headliner of the race is 27-year-old Gotit Gebreslase . This past July, the Ethiopian won the World Championships in Oregon, setting a race record of a phenomenally fast 2:18:11 for a summer race. Gebreslase has already managed to score at the majors – in 2021 she finished first in Berlin, and at the beginning of the 2022 season – third in Tokyo. However, the tracks in Germany and Japan are very different from New York – they are flat and fast.
So the hills of Central Park will be a test of strength for the world champion.
Kenyan legend Edna Kiplagat will try to challenge the Ethiopian in her prime. During her amazing career, the 42-year-old athlete finished 10 times in the top three at the majors! In New York, Kiplagat won twelve years ago, but since then she has not lost her form. A year ago, the two-time world champion finished second in Boston, and in the 2022 season at the same track in Massachusetts, she finished fourth.
Formally the best personal record in the start list for representing Israel Lorna Salpeter – 2:17.45. However, the 33-year-old athlete on hilly tracks has never shown high results. In addition, the 2022 World Championship bronze medalist has had a great start this season: she has two 10,000m stadium runs, a 10-mile road run, a half marathon and two marathons. And for New York, you need to start fresh.
Just making her debut in the marathon, Helen Obiri is a shadow contender for victory.
