All new Buick LaCrosse inspired by the Wildcat concept spied in China
New Buick LaCrosse spied in China during a road test.
It will be the flagship sedan in the Buick China lineup. In terms of appearance, it is very similar to the previously shown Buick Wildcat concept car. Its interior also has some interesting features that we can’t wait to tell you about!

Buick was launched in China back in 1999 year. He partnered with SAIC and has become a strong player in the market over the years. To date, the Buick lineup for the Chinese market has 14 vehicles. From January to October 2022, Buick sold over 687,000 vehicles in China. In October 2022, its sales reached 99,057 vehicles, setting a maximum two-year record.
Buick GL8 century
Its best-selling segment is minivans. For example, Buick sold over 118,000 GL8 minivans in 10 months. But it is also developing the sedan segment in China, as this body style is still in demand in China. The current generation Buick LaCrosse doesn’t have a lot of sales in China. From January to October 2022, Buick only managed to sell 24,321 vehicles.
It seems that the new generation is aimed at changing the situation in the market. The real car was spotted during a road test in China.

Finally getting to the spy shots. The Buick LaCrosse is heavily disguised, but some common design features can be identified. First, it is a rather long body with a slim aerodynamic shape, a solid hood line and clear lines. Its overall shape strongly resembles the Buick Wildcat concept car unveiled in June 2022. Given that the current generation of LaCrosse has dimensions of 5026/1866/1459mm with a wheelbase of 2905 mm, the all-new LaCrosse can be even larger.
Unfortunately, we can’t see the headlights and grille of the Buick LaCrosse. But it’s entirely possible that it will adopt Buick’s latest design language. We saw it on the Buick GL8 Century.
In the spy shots, we can also make out its interior. The new Buick LaCrosse received the same giant trapezoid-shaped screen and steering wheel as the mentioned GL8 Century.
One of the spy shots shows that this is not a dual screen, but a large solid display. Its central tunnel received two cordless phone charging pads and chrome trim. The gear selector is hidden somewhere. Maybe he’s driving.
The powertrain of the new LaCrosse has not yet been described in detail. But Chinese media speculate that it could get the same 1.5-liter (LFV, 169 PS, 250 Nm) and 2.0-liter (LSY, 237 PS, 350 Nm) engines as current generation. These engines are paired with the 9AT, which sends power to the front axle only. It’s worth noting that the Buick LaCrosse can also use a plug-in hybrid system.
