Brewers transferred Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) to the 60-day injured list from the 15-day injured list.

Junis now won’t be able to return to the Brewers until the start of June. The 31-year-old is battling a shoulder impingement and was also struck in head by a ball in batting practice.

Brewers optioned RHP Janson Junk to Triple-A Nashville.

Junk will report back to Triple-A with the Brewers opting to go with Kevin Herget to replace him on the roster. Junk was awful in his appearances with the Brewers with 13 hits allowed and five runs given up over three relief appearances.

Brewers selected the contract of RHP Kevin Herget from Triple-A Nashville.

Herget was designated for assignment back in April, so the Brewers had to add him back to the 40-man roster to make this move. They did so with Jakob Junis being transferred to the 60-day injured list and Janson Junk being optioned to Triple-A.

Cubs optioned RHP Keegan Thompson to Triple-A Iowa.

It’s Thompson and not Ben Brown who gets booted from the roster with Justin Steele (hamstring) coming off the injured list, and Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribute notes Brown will work out of the bullpen. Thompson will head back to Triple-A and likely be up-and-down throughout the 2024 campaign.

Athletics recalled LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Harris, 27, has made six starts with the Aviators with an abhorrent 9.00 ERA and 1.95 WHIP. He takes the place of Joe Boyle after Boyle was placed on the injured list with a back injury, and while he could make starts, there’s no logical reason for adding Harris to a fantasy roster.

Athletics placed RHP Joe Boyle on the 15-day injured list with a back strain.

Boyle has really struggled so far in 2024, but it’ll be injury that keeps the 24-year-old from contributing in the rotation. He’ll miss at least two weeks with Hogan Harris taking his spot on the roster. Boyle can be dropped in fantasy leagues, if that hasn’t already taken place.
Austin Hays

BAL Center Fielder #21

Austin Hays (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Tuesday.

Hays has made steady progress from his calf strain that has had him on the shelf since April 22, and now he’ll get a chance to face minor-league pitching. The outfielder will likely need around five-plus games before he could rejoin the Orioles in the middle of May.
Niko Goodrum

TB Second Baseman #0

Rays designated INF Niko Goodrum for assignment.

Goodrum is now off the 40-man roster. The infielder went just 4-for-37 before being optioned down to Triple-A by the Rays on Friday. The 32-year-old could see interest on the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed, he will have the option to elect free agency if he so chooses.
Pete Alonso

NYM First Baseman #20

Pete Alonso is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Cardinals.

Alonso will sit for the first time this year against right-hander Kyle Gibson and St. Louis. With the Polar Bear out of action, the Mets will start DJ Stewart and he’ll hit fourth.
Angel Chivilli

COL Relief Pitcher #57

Rockies optioned RHP Angel Chivilli to Double-A Hartford.

Chivilli was up for three days while Justin Lawrence was away on paternity leave. With Lawrence active, Chivilli will report back to the Yard Goats.
